Is it on the west of Fl, off Gulf of Mexico?

Posted by BarbaraJo (BJ) – October 13, 2008 1:06 AM

Look's like Florida is the place

Posted by Dana – October 13, 2008 6:28 AM

I think it might be along the Golf Shore of Alabama.
There you have water and plenty of sunny skies.

Posted by Beth – October 13, 2008 7:49 AM

It is located in Florida.

Posted by Linda – October 13, 2008 9:20 AM

I think the home will be built at Sanoma Calif.

I would love to win

I live in Tex now but Calif is a dream away

Posted by Barbara Lyle – October 13, 2008 9:35 AM

One home was in Georgia and two in Flordia, so my guess would be Northern Flordia, Southern Georgia.

Has to be Florida gulf coast/pan handle. Mexico beach and Rosemary Beach are in the same area. Rosemary in located between Destin and Panama City Beach. Its like one of those containd small beach cities with all of the extrass. And Mexico Beach is on the other side of Panama City. Mexico Beach is part of the forgotten coast. So theres the water, the sun, the sand. Can only be paraside!!!

Posted by Jami – October 13, 2008 9:56 AM

Its Florida. Has to be Gulf coast/Panhandle. Rosemary Beach is located between Destin and Panama City Beach and Mexico Beach is located on the other side of Panama City. Rosemary Beach is on of the new city communities that has it all. Mexico Beach is considered part of the lost coast.

Posted by Jami – October 13, 2008 10:00 AM

I'm guessing we're Coming back to Florida, Lots of Sun and lets's not forget the Ocean, The last house was built in the Keys so I don't think is going to be in South Florida my guess they're going to go more towards the Gulf. We'll just have to wait and see.

Posted by Berta Alvarez – October 13, 2008 10:09 AM

Dear HGTV: Clues are pretty definite...precisely determined by water, sun & somewhere in Florida!! This feels like Islamorada all over again!! So, I'm thinking...maybe Gulf Breeze (north of Pensacola Beach)? or Miramar Beach (begins at the Gulf of Mexico along Scenic Gulf)? or Mexico Beach (northwest coast in southern Bay County)? or Port St. Joe (northwest coast in southern Gulf County)? or Apalachicola (northwest coast/near a river)? or I will guess Seacrest (Seacrest Beach is a hidden paradise with many small communities situated where sand slips from your toes at the waters edge)? Any one of these areas would be exciting, but for now, I will guess Seacrest, Florida!! Marie Miller

Posted by Marie Miller – October 13, 2008 10:11 AM

Southern beaches with those great starry night skies and beautiful clouds during the days...So many choices along the Gulf Coast, the Mississippi, the Atlantic, The St. John River, all with beautiful views.

Posted by cathy – October 13, 2008 10:17 AM

region..is south ... they didn't ask for what state they were in... soo... it could be in the south period not necessarily in florida...

Posted by joelle nasti – October 13, 2008 11:29 AM

It's got to be Florida.

Posted by Sandi – October 13, 2008 11:47 AM

Martha's Vineyard. It has pictures in this video.

Posted by heather – October 13, 2008 11:49 AM

"THE GREEN HOUSR"
IS GOING TO BE IN SEDONA ARIZONA

Posted by Brenda – October 13, 2008 12:07 PM

Florida sounds nice but it is not the only region where two Dream Homes have been built. I'm thinking North or South Carolina, one Dream Home in each state.Lake Lure in N.C. and Beaufort S.C. both by water.

Posted by clifton t wilder – October 13, 2008 12:13 PM

Hmmmmm...same region...same region...I am not definitely thinking Florida. As Joelle said...the region, not necessarily the same state. So my guess would be any of the south eastern coast states, but primarily around Florida. Like Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia...and even possibly South Carolina.

Posted by kate – October 13, 2008 1:47 PM

I am thinking Florida although I think there has been enough homes built there and with the hurricanes it is a little scary to live near the ocean.

Posted by Linda – October 13, 2008 2:03 PM

My guess is one of the southern states and not necessarily GA or FL.

Posted by Sonja C – October 13, 2008 2:28 PM

Lower South East...Ga. SC, NC, La. Mississippi, or Alabama.

Posted by libby – October 13, 2008 3:21 PM

Wilmington, NC is my 1st guess. Florida Panhandle, Gulf of Mexico region is my 2nd guess. Savannah, Georgia area is my 3rd guess.

Posted by js garland – October 13, 2008 4:43 PM

Both home are in florida and both are coastal homes.

Posted by Daylin – October 13, 2008 5:03 PM

Hmmm..... REGION vs. ACTUAL state. HGTV has some clever writers. I'm guessing somewhere between Maryland and Maine. HOWEVER, (thinking aloud)......What states are considered SUNNY in this region? LOL OK....better find another thinking cap and wait for another clue. FLORIDA just seems TOO obvious ???

Posted by Trish212 – October 13, 2008 6:29 PM

i hope that this green home will have have 2 guestrooms instead of one because i have a big family.

Posted by becca – October 13, 2008 8:21 PM

My guess would be somewhere in the Florida panhandle area since two of the previous homes were in that general area. That sounds real good to me, white sand beaches, palm trees, sunshine!!! Wow I could really enjoy that. Thank you HGTV for giving us so much to dream about

Posted by Debbie – October 13, 2008 8:24 PM

It is should be Florida

Posted by Svetlana – October 13, 2008 8:47 PM

I think it is in Saint Lucie county or near by

Posted by Eloise Martin – October 13, 2008 9:17 PM

by the way how do you win the greenhouse and what channel in HGTV on in my area code area 34972

Posted by Eloise Martin – October 13, 2008 9:23 PM

Alys Beach, FL- It is beautiful, ecological, and unique. I am now going to close my eyes and invision my life there.

Posted by Briney – October 13, 2008 10:56 PM

Florida

Posted by Doda – October 13, 2008 11:36 PM

Can only be and sounds like the beautiful west coast. Perhaps somewhere north of San Francisco.
There are so many quaint little cities that would fit the bill for this type of home.

Posted by Monica Dowell – October 13, 2008 11:42 PM

I think it may be located Up North, Ny, connecticut, Washington dc, massachusettes it's located in or near the same region as 2 dreamhomes (md or me?) Don't they usually classify the vineyard area as a region? still not too clear on it though! I also think of Greensburg, Kansas and Arizona.

Posted by Carrie Miracle – October 14, 2008 12:24 AM

panhandle of fl. possibly perdido key

Posted by barbara – October 14, 2008 9:00 AM

I truly beleave the new 2009 Green Home is in
Florida which is just Great since Ricky and I will be living in Florida very soon. It has my name on it!

Posted by Evelyn Roman – October 14, 2008 9:23 AM

The HGTV Green Home is located in Miramar Beach Florida west of Panama Beach Florida.

Posted by Garth A. Budd – October 14, 2008 9:26 AM

Some of the Dream Homes are left out.
Wasn't there one in Maryland as well as the first one, a log cabin in Idaho?

Posted by Mary Rene – October 14, 2008 11:34 AM

The green clue house looks to me to be on rolling hills. Also in the videos 3 or 4 of the homes are located on rolling hills near a lake or near the coast.

Posted by clifton t wilder – October 14, 2008 12:27 PM

I still say Florida since there have been two Dream Homes in the southeast region of US one in GA just a few miles from Florida and one in Florida. So far I am not sure if it will be on the west or east coast/ocean or gulf or in the northern areas, Maybe Northwest part along the Gulf.

Posted by Frances in Texas – October 14, 2008 1:14 PM

Sorry, caught up with this tread late, are these clues for the 2009 Dream Home in Sonoma Armstrong Estates built by Steve Ledson? Or is there another house being planned for 2009?

Posted by Eva – October 14, 2008 2:59 PM

Never mind my previous question that home is not green. I just figured it out. :-)

Posted by Eva – October 14, 2008 3:01 PM

Florida?

Posted by Emily – October 14, 2008 5:22 PM

florida is the only area that there is two of on that site, that wasnt hard at all...fcole made it a lot harder to find the state, of course that was kind of fun trying to find out... i live in florida, so i guess thats a good thing that it is there, cant wait to see more...

Posted by emily – October 14, 2008 8:42 PM

and we know its in the panhandle... how easy is this...

Posted by emily – October 14, 2008 8:49 PM

I have feeling the Green home is being built in the NorthEast US. Beautiful water views can be found on the lakes and the coast in the region. And like one of the bloggers stated, "the HGTV writers are clever".

Posted by Cathe – October 14, 2008 9:19 PM

Where this home is located is the least of my worries, IT IS MINE!!! Let me ask you guys, if u win this home what will it mean to you? For me and my family, it will mean ALOT, a dream come true.I dont care where it is, am just so ready to claim my prize!!!

Posted by Angel – October 14, 2008 11:11 PM

CA -Sonoma 95476 - my guess... please let that be it!!!

Posted by Miriam B – October 14, 2008 11:54 PM

I say a wine region.

Posted by BeckyS – October 15, 2008 9:29 AM

I am thinking Greensboro

Posted by Leah – October 15, 2008 9:53 AM

Carter O. I'm excited about the new green home, I do look forward to learning more about green techniques in building. Last years home was very beautiful and I became educated on earth friendliness. I do have one request for our 09 dream home and it is for our handicapped viewers and sweepstakes entrants. And that is to please try to make sure the green home will be handicap accessible on the first floor with a big enough master bedroom & wheelchair friendly bathroom and wider door accesses and getting into and out of the home or offer at least offer a free retrofit package to be included for the winner if needed. I'm concerned about the giveaways not being freindly to all viewers and participants and because you have no idea if the winner will need accessibility or not! It would make life so much easier if the home was prebuilt to easily change and accommodate if accessibility issues were needed after the winner takes ownership. Also I am very interested in seeing these issues very easily and beautifully intergrated into existing homes. We never know when we will need these things in the first place. Thanks Carter I enjoy watching you at work, and it makes life sweeter knowing you are doing it in an earth friendly way!

Posted by Carrie Miracle – October 15, 2008 11:15 AM

I think this green home is in the Sonoma Valley, California....great place...hope I win....

Posted by Vernelle Mitchell – October 15, 2008 12:26 PM

This clue seems to imply the Florida gulf coast region... and it fits with the sand and sun clues, Nice!

Posted by ed_b – October 15, 2008 2:15 PM

I think it is in Mexico Beach, Florida or in Bay County, Florida.

Posted by Sharon – October 15, 2008 3:10 PM

It's in Martha's Vineyard? That's my guess for the new 2009 home.

Posted by Christine Lauluma – October 15, 2008 3:10 PM

The 2009 home will be in Sonoma, California?

Posted by Christine Lauluma – October 15, 2008 3:20 PM

I think it is in Mississippi

Posted by glenda – October 15, 2008 3:57 PM

If you go to HGTVpro.com, it states Sonoma, CA. The pictures are beautiful.

Posted by Amy Bq – October 15, 2008 4:03 PM

I'm guessing the Pacific coast region. How about Vancouver, B.C.?

Posted by Terri – October 15, 2008 4:19 PM

well since its already obvious that it is going 2 be in the panhandle of florida, im just going 2 start naming a few cities that i think would be cool 2 have the green home 09 in.... Fort Walton Beach FL is where a lot of my relatives live, and it is really really pretty there... Destin (right by fort walton) is nice 2... well, most places in the panhandle around there are very pretty and would be a nice spot to put the gh09... but i still believe fort walton is the best place, the beaches actually live up to the beaaches florida claims they have, even though most of florida's beaches suck, unless they are in that area of florida, in the keys, or some other island thats considered part of florida....

Posted by emily – October 15, 2008 4:59 PM

OOps I meant green home 09

Posted by Carrie Miracle – October 15, 2008 5:11 PM

I think it's going to be SOUTH CAROLINA!

Posted by Jean – October 15, 2008 6:21 PM

We really need clue #4 because we're just all over the place. Ha! I still think it's in the southern region of country.

Posted by Anonymous – October 15, 2008 7:37 PM

I think it's in Florida

Posted by Laura Randolph – October 15, 2008 8:41 PM

I think it will be on the emerald beaches of the gulf of Mexico. After all, the water is a brillant green there (lived there years ago) and this is the best kept secret in the US...the most beautiful beaches in the US for sure. A green home belongs on the emerald coast!

Posted by Paula Larson – October 15, 2008 10:44 PM

I believe it is in Siest Key, FL. That has the most beautiful beaches, sand and sun. This city is so friendly too.

Posted by Annette – October 15, 2008 11:42 PM

I belive that it will be built in the region of lower North Carolina to the upper part of South Carolina

Posted by kathy – October 16, 2008 12:06 AM

At first I thought about Mytrle Beach SC then I

I thought about south toward Jacksonville fla

Posted by kathy waldron – October 16, 2008 12:14 AM

I'm clueless as to where the new green home will actually be located but I wish it could be in southern CT. with me and my family living in it!!

Posted by SHARON BOGARDUS – October 16, 2008 12:35 AM

i believe that it will be in California, New York or Connecticut. I believed Connecticut uuntil this third clue, now i'm convinced its california

Posted by Bea Shirley – October 16, 2008 1:26 AM

It's definately Florida but who knows where???

Posted by Deborah – October 16, 2008 1:27 AM

When can we enter the Green home giveaway? Same as the dream home giveaway?

Posted by Aaron – October 16, 2008 2:48 AM

Out of the 3 clues, my guess is Sunnyside, FL. It's by the water, Florida is the sunshine state and it's in the same area as 2 former dream homes as it is about 3 miles from Panama City. We will see with the next clue tomorrow.

Posted by Chrysalis – October 16, 2008 3:03 AM

Could be in the same vicinity as the 2008 dream home, which is a lovely area -- the Beaufort, SC home is close to the St. Marys, Georgia dream home ... and there's plenty of sun there, close to water ... great area!!!

Posted by Sue M – October 16, 2008 6:34 AM

Morning all!!!! I did my homework. Clue#1 - water, #2 eco friendly, and #3 that house will be located in the same region as two from the list of 8 past dream homes.
Out of the 8, only 2 are in the same region. Well, Beaufort, SC (1998) and St Marys, GA (2004) are 2 hours from one another, but I don't consider that the same region.

So that leaves Mexico Beach, Fl (2003) and Rosemary Beach (1999). These two locations are within 30 miles of one another.
Rosemary is in between the area of Destin and South Walton NW Panhandle and 45 minutes from Pan. City. Mexico Beach is 30 miles on the other side of Panama City. Mexico Beach is also considered part of the forgotten coast. The area is considered to be ego friendly (Clue #2) and both of the past dream homes are located on the water....one ocean one marsh.
What is so interesting, The MyIdea.com house giveaway for 2008 is located at
Windmark Beach Community in Port St. Joe, FL. It is less than 20 minutes from Mexico Beach and around 50 from Rosemary and its all echo friendly built. Sounds to me like thats alot in one region.

Even though as one reader stated about the devistating hurricans in the area, I don't think this would stop them from building there again. There is always going to be mild and devistating seasons of hurricans on the coast and everyone knows this and everyone still goes back to the beach because its still paradise, good and bad. Everyone loves the ocean, beach, etc. I consider it heaven on earth and people want the homes built in areas like this.

The area is also very eco friendly. and 90% of Floridas oysters come from that area and like 30% of the worlds. Its also seems to be an area that has that stopped in time feel.

So my guess would be somewhere between the two. One blogger said maybe even Seaside, FL. It is a contained beach community and lots of these TV shows see to be going in that area. You can walk to your beach, grocery shopping and other stores plus community areas and the houres are designed to be private, but also to be part of a community with ways to interact with neighbors. Seaside has its own church and also a remote school K-12. First guess would be somewhere around here, second guess would be the Destin, FL area.

Posted by Jami – October 16, 2008 7:08 AM

I think it should be in South Carolina, Florida is overrated

Posted by Patricia Haring – October 16, 2008 7:18 AM

Sounds like the southeast coast to me. I don't think you can narrow it down any more with the clues given.
Like Carrie, I think accessibility issues should be considered from the begining of the project. We are all getting older and you never know when these things will come in handy. I can't hurt to have grab bars in the bath and wider doors.

Posted by Nancy Bee – October 16, 2008 7:35 AM

I would hope it might be Las vegas.Put some solar on the roof and a wind turbine next to the garage and you would make me happy.P.S. a water feature would be nice thanks.

Posted by Larry Heinsler – October 16, 2008 8:00 AM

The next one is in Sonoma but my question is why do you keep going to the same areas to build? There are many more beautiful areas that aren't on the coasts. Don't these areas deserve to have a beautiful example of green building too?

Posted by Katherine – October 16, 2008 9:35 AM

I agree with the Florida,GA guess.

Posted by sara lindsey – October 16, 2008 10:34 AM

My best guess is the state of Alabama right on the Gulf.

Posted by Walter Engels – October 16, 2008 1:02 PM

IT'S FLORIDA FOR SURE.

Posted by CAROLE – October 16, 2008 3:12 PM

Florida is called the sunshine state and HGTV has built several homes there. Take advantage of all that solar energy and you have your green home right there in Florida.

Posted by LG – October 16, 2008 3:39 PM

I'm guessing somewhere near the Florida keys .water and lots of sunshine!

Posted by goldie – October 16, 2008 3:41 PM

Nehalem, OR and Tyler, TX

Posted by jodyonew – October 17, 2008 2:16 PM

If it is located the on same body of water, then it looks like FLA. Area. I am thinking that the St. Mary's house and its counter part on the Atlantic side could also provide several areas to build the 2009 Green House.

then again who knows?? This is fun Got to go to Church. See ya'll later.

Blessings,
Debbie

Posted by Debbie – October 19, 2008 10:21 AM

waiting for clue #5 is getting me antsy
Lots of sun doesn't necessarily mean a warm climate, here on Long Island we have plenty of Sunshine all year round and very little snow to speak of in winter, and we share the Atlantic with MD and ME and so Im leaving this one open. If it was Long Island Id say The Hamptons .. right out there on the ocean!!

Posted by Linda Milward – October 19, 2008 6:59 PM

May I suggest Crockett California, home of C & H Sugar Company?

Posted by Mary Rene – October 21, 2008 1:49 PM

The state with the most houses is FLA. How about a green dream home in Mexico, in Youcatana. In the mountains.

Posted by Denice Roach – October 22, 2008 12:10 AM

Florida?

Posted by BB – October 23, 2008 9:28 PM

I think it could be Kitty Halk Island S.C. Waterfront, Sun, Region

Posted by Valerie – October 23, 2008 11:35 PM

I'm thinking it is located in Florida off the gulf coast. That would truely be a Dream come true for me because my doctor told me I had to live in a warm climate.

Posted by Lucinda – October 24, 2008 11:28 PM

I lived in Orlando and if it's 2 hours North that would be a wonderful place for someone who Loves Florida to live. I like the cold days we have and would love to have colder winters but not snow and ice for months. I was Born in New Jersey and I loved when it snowed around Thanksgiving and Christmas(or sweater cold), but I do LOVE FLORIDA......

Posted by Maryjo – October 30, 2008 3:56 PM
