I bet it's gonna be right here in Wartburg, Tn, in that new Green Acres subdivision down on Highway 9, just past the bait shop.

I'm stump on this clue, I don't think is Tn because DIY just finish building the Blog Cabin there, I did get we're going to have solar panels, and I know is going to be near water, Come on Bloggers let's solve this clue.
Posted by Berta Alvarez – October 9, 2008 11:39 AM
I would not consider TN as a state that gets plenty of Sun and its not Waterfront from the first clue except for lakes and rivers. I am guessing Florida - maybe Cali- I would have thought Green Seattle but solar will not work there very well.

Carter said to visit Ecologue.com. When I did, I clicked on the green bubble that said "eco-friendly dream homes", and when I went to that page there was a map on the right of lower Manhattan. An urban green home? How exciting!

It could be in Arizona, lots of sunshine, but not much water unless it's a manmade lake!

It talks about solar engergy and that there is plenty of sun in the location. So it must be in a hot climate. AriZona? California?

Hmmm...CLUE #2: Going solar has some amazing benefits for the environment and your pocketbook. And in the part of the country that houses the HGTV Green Home 2009, you'll have plenty of sun to reap the rewards of using photovoltaics.
Definitely gotta be Southwest, right? Since current Dream Home is being built in Cali, I'll guess Arizona...ooh, maybe Sedona! (It's sooooo gorgeous there.)
Posted by Christina W. – October 10, 2008 9:52 AM
I agree with the Miami,Florida guess .

Posted by Katie Jo – October 10, 2008 1:40 PM
I think somewhere in the Southwest like New Mexico. First clue was "hacienda" and the next clue "lots of sun." Plus, aren't there some great lakes in NM?

Come on people! If you go to the Ecologue page, click on "More" in the big Solar Energy Solutions Circle, theres the #2 clue picture & read the Tax-Day Solar Incentives article, it talks about doubling your credit incentives by getting Fed credit PLUS living in a state that offers solar credit incentives. Calif, NY and Connecticut are mentioned and I'm sure there are more. So you just need to decide how many states offer solar credit and choose from that list. I think it's too soon to be picking the State.
Posted by tiotap – October 12, 2008 2:13 PM
The HGTV Dream Home is in California and last years Dream Home and Green Homes were both in Florida, so possibly the Green Home will be in California, as well

HGTV has already built a house in the Florida Keys and is building it's current Dream Home in California. So I doubt they would build in a State they have already built or is building. Oregon is also a very green state so maybe they will be building along the coast
Posted by Michele – October 15, 2008 7:55 PM
After thought, region dosen't mean state. Think it could be in gulf shores, AL

The Green home for 2008 was not in Florida but in South Carolina. Whe I put green home in the search engine it came up with Manhattan, Maine and Vermont.
Posted by Nancy Bee – October 16, 2008 7:24 AM
I think that the HGTV Green Home will be built somewhere along the Choctawhatchee Bay. It appears to have great water front properties and is very close to the Gulf of Mexico.

HGTV Green Home 2009 is the waterfront home located in Myrtle Beach (world class resort with sandy white beaches), South Carolina, Southeast Region of USA.
Clue 1#: All houses have water views.
Clue 2#: South Carolina is the commercial apple producing state in the Southeast.
Clue 3#: Four HGTV Dreams home are located in Southeast region.
Clue 4#: New Orleans shears a large body of water(Gulf of Mexico is the ninth largest body of water in the world. Considered a smaller part of the Atlantic Ocean) with South Carolina.
Building green homes in South Carolina is a big trend. Development on the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base is a fist home community in USA to offer General Electric's full line of Ecomagination products aimed at reducing energy costs and water bills. Some new communities like Southbury build green homes.
I know that Carter likes to use bamboo for his green projects and it is available at Lowes in Myrtle Beach.

Posted by Glenda Morris – October 20, 2008 3:35 PM
For sun all year round as well as great views of the ocean sunsets, it would have to be southern California like San Diego. Plenty of property available since the huge fires last year. In CA, you could even have your own wind turbine, as well as a totally solar roof. Recycling grey water is also very popular there for irrigation. The challenge would be to build a fire-proof home.
Posted by Mary Rene – October 21, 2008 1:32 PM
after studying the map of Crockett, CA and its closeness to Sonoma, the construction crew would save a lot of time and money working on both projects together. Great GREEN choice.
Posted by Mary Rene – October 21, 2008 2:10 PM
I think it's going to be around Lake Mead or Lake Havasu - lots of sun and lots of recreational choices.
