hmmmmm "tune in at 8/7 to find out who won"....I wish that was phrased a little different...like: WHO WILL WIN...the word {WON} sounds past-tense to me : ( gosh I HOPE Im wrong here??? good luck anyway, or Congrats to the winner : )

Looking forward to the anticipated June 8th announcement. This has been a very rewarding time as well as educational for all of us who desire to go green. Thank you for giving us up- to-date choices on going green! I also have learned much from the bloggers. Thanks again for this opportunity. Will see you June 8th. Shalom! Karen,SodusNY

So.... R u they suppose to call the winners before sunday? I hope not because We haven't gotten the call yet!

Posted by Kimmie – June 7, 2008 9:59 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Normally I love your stuff, but this has got to be one of the worst floor plans I have seen in my 32 years as an Architect! The Laundry by the front door? A narrow entry Hall from the front door to the public rooms? No inside entry from the Garage to the house? A storage room blocking what could have been a lovely water-side view from the upstairs Guest Bedroom? Pull-eeese!

My only conclusion is that this floor plan was so bad, you had to call it 'green', and give the house away!

Try harder next time, will you?

Sincerely,

Morgan Sweeney

Nobody's acting strange around here...darn. Nevertheless, it was fun to dream. The green home inspired me to make some serious commitments to be more green and to try and influence my family to get on board. I've been aware..... but lazy if you will and it feels great knowing I can make a difference....thanks for the education!!

Posted by Patrice – June 7, 2008 10:05 AM

I agree with GeorgeAnne...tune in to find out who won...sounds final. My phone call did not come boo hoo. I love this house. I love the area. Are there more like it in the community? I want out of Jersey!

I have battled cancer. I would like to sit now and watch the sun go down on my dream home.

Dear HGTV,
I can't believe that in 30&1/2 hours we'll know the Green Home Winner. I wonder who will be ringing my doorbell at 7:00 tomorrow night. Will it be Carter, Jack or Linda???? Believe me, I will be very excited and thankful for such a wonderful blessing from God with HGTV's help! Thanks,HGTV,for constantly keeping our dreams alive! The floorplans for DH09 look awesome! It will be another amazing and beautiful home! If I don't win tomorrow, there's always another chance to win next year!

I really hope that the fact i have to enter a APO address won't be a negative discriminator in the winners selection. After my time in the military is up I would LOVE as much as the next guest to be THE WINNER! Maybe more!!

Posted by Clair W. Smart – June 7, 2008 2:49 PM

Well, I truly believe that the "ambush" has already occurred and we'll see it on Sunday night and now I'm trying to console myself with a Milky Way.

Posted by Sonja – June 7, 2008 4:13 PM

aww i really hope that the ambush hasnt happen ive been really waiting for the moment where they'll annonce the winner its my only hope to thinking that my family still has a chance i think about it first thing in the morning and right before bed i cant wait it that would be my familys sweet escape out of the city and out of the bronxs and would give us the right start worry free for my girls just cant wait i usually dont play any of these things but im praying its real and needed that chance even tho my husband doesnt beleive it its nice to dream and hope that luck is on ur side tomorrows the night cant wait! thanks hgtv good luck to everyone else who played

I hope we win as we have been waiting for the results from a long time & nothing would make us happier than the Green Home victory.. Me n my husband would love to have our first beautiful
Green Home.. We love HGTV & watch it everyday.. Keep up the good work!!!

Posted by aparna – June 7, 2008 5:59 PM

Morgan S: You may be an Architect, but it seems to me that you have no idea what a GREEN HOME is all about. The garage is detached so that exhaust fumes will not seep into the house. I hope you will at least read HGTV's posts of what went into the GH, and why. I happen to love the floor plans...inside and out... the Tradition community planned...the whole concept of trying to save our planet for future generations. Morgan, I'm sure you are a fabulous architect, but you just wouldn't believe how much I have learned from HGTV about going Green this year.

Tomorrow night we will find out who the very lucky winner is. I don't care about their reaction. They are not paid actors for your entertainment. I just hope they love the home, can afford to keep it, and have many years in the amazing Green Home 2008. Pleasant dreams everyone.

my family thinks i am crazy to enter these sweepstakes and also to believe that i might win. They think these things are bogus and who ever wins is probably related to hgtv employees. But I on the other hand believe i will win oneday, it may not be tomorrow and but you will see me on tv one day.Iknow i may be bit crazy to look out the window of my house most of the time i am home to see some one from HGTV is coming to tell me i have won the house.I know it is a little childish but i believe in dreaming beyond possibilities...i just fifnished watching Dr. wayne dawyer's 'THE POWER OF INTENSION" and i have to say i believe i will win one of these houses. My faith have gotten so strong that i am going to manifest one of these houses for me and my family. It is sad that they think the only way you can make it in this life is by working 2 or 3 jobs and still struggling....I do work hard bu t i believe in the supernatural to make extra-ordinary things happen in my life.I dream to meet oprah after i win one of these houses to talk about it(power of intention)..may be i am crazy but i love living this delusional life of impossibilities.....i just want to congratulate all my fellow dreamers good luck and best wishes on their dreams coming true.I believe the universe know what i need and what my dreams are and it will make it happen...please keep in your prayers

If I win, it will be the perfect place for all of our family to spend time together. Our sons and their families live in California and we could all meet at the Green House during the year for a reunion. Precious memories I can just imagine. Good Luck everyne.

Posted by Nancy K. – June 7, 2008 10:43 PM

well i guess it's safe to say i didn't win this home given the way these contests are conducted; the winner and a group of several "alternative" winners are drawn at one time and notified on their status as a finalist at which time they provide proof they are eligible to participate in the contest. i have not had any such official review. :( i will keep entering none the less. congrats winner! and oh yeah, show a little more excitement than the dream home winner. nothing sux more than watching someone react to winning a house like it's something she does everyday!

Posted by stroodle – June 7, 2008 11:30 PM

I am holding out hope that the winner has no idea. I would like to think that I still have a chance to win. No strange phone calls here. Do all of you think that they have already told the winner? Maybe I am just naive but I still believe in the element of surprise and hope that HGTV will show up on my doorstep because I love a good surprise.

Posted by Christie – June 8, 2008 12:13 AM

This is the first one of your prize homes that my husband has been excited about. He has studies solar energy for years and other "green" ways to preserve our land. It loooks like he and I, as well as our boys will cry ourselves to sleep, but God just did not mean this move for us. Best wishes, God bless the winner!

Morgan--I totally disagree about the floor plan of the GH--I love it. In fact, that is what first attracted me to the house. It is a floor plan that would work perfectly for my disabled mom--master on the first floor. I love the open feel--and I think the laundry room is great!
Congratulations to the very lucky winner of this beautiful home.

Posted by Mary – June 8, 2008 1:55 AM

I love the floorplan. In keeping with green goal the house is smaller than the dream homes, however, there is no wasted space. I also love the decor with it's casual elegance that is perfect for the house. The lot is smaller as well, however, the lake provides a wonderful expansion.

Posted by Sonja – June 8, 2008 4:39 AM

I don't believe there was a day to go by that I didn't "dream" of winning the HGTV Dream Home. I think it is beautiful and my husband and I would love the opportunity to win this unique house -- so we could make it a "home." We are already blessed, and this would be just one more exciting blessing -- we have never won anything in our lives! Becky

If somebody(family/friends/neighbors) has arranged a party/event for you this evening from around 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm EST, then you have a good shot at winning, otherwise you have no shot (I am not winning it). They do this so that they can ambush you, they have to make sure that you are present, cos its live TV. They do this every year from the Dream home giveaway... I hope the winner acts surprised this time around and is happy

Posted by P-Man – June 8, 2008 8:21 PM

This all seems fixed to me, only certain people win and they all seem to have money. I never thought I would say this but it is really looking that way, they are always in really nice neighborhhods, I live in a middles class neighboorhood, I just have not seen a winner from somewhere like where I live.. sad

I think they hit the winner's house ahead of the airing. That way the winner is surprised. I think what we just saw was taped.

Posted by P-Man – June 8, 2008 8:35 PM

what state is the winner from?

Posted by J – June 8, 2008 8:38 PM

Congratulations Marcia! I hope you and your family enjoy the house!!!

As for HGTV: This show was so patronizing---not really live, using repeats from the initial green home special, making it seem like it was all taking place "right now". Please.....we can handle the truth. What we can't handle is a mock "live giveaway" just to get viewers to tune in. I expect more from this network.

Congratulations to Bernadette in New Jersey for winning the Kohler $10,000.00 Prize!

Good Luck to all!

This house give away is a joke. The house should of been build where the winner lived. That way they at lease could sell their old house and live in the new eco house. Now they have two homes and more than likely the eco one will hardly get used. Not to mention the carbon cost for them to get back and forth between the two houses is going to eat away from the savings of the new eco house.

As far as giving them the hybrid Yukon. This is even a bugger joke. the only gas that will be save is city driving when compared to a non hybrid Yukon. The saving is only a 7 miles per gallon difference. They should of given away a hybrid car that has a high mpg.

Posted by A disapointed eco person – June 8, 2008 8:42 PM

Who won?I was on my computer reading the blog!!

Posted by ChocolateDelight – June 8, 2008 8:52 PM

N and Mrs. R.:
I am with you on your feelings, I feel the same. If I enter another drawing, I am gonna research and find a very nice house in the lower 48, and use that address as my mailing address, that way I will "feel in the loop", know what I mean? (HGTV will think I have money and everything then) I live up here in Alaska, and I don't think I would ever get picked, even if I sent in a million entries...

Posted by truckinangel35 – June 8, 2008 8:53 PM

Almost anyone who wins a house like this ends up having to sell it...I mean most people just don't have that type of tax money lying around. So they will probably sell the house & either buy a nicer house near where they already live or whatever. Congrats to the lady who won..I didn't get to see it yet, but I am taping it tonight to watch. It would have been nice to win it, but c'est la vie! It actually kind of amuses and alarms me how angry some people get when they don't win! It's a wonderful chance & an opportunity, not a gaurantee.

Posted by Hotmommastout – June 8, 2008 9:02 PM

why? does marcia already live in a nice house?

Posted by j – June 8, 2008 9:03 PM

Thanks Velvet350 for telling us becasuse i dont watched the show..Congrats Marsha..Im form Florida too..What part of Florida is she from?

Posted by Anonymous – June 8, 2008 9:06 PM

Dear HGTV,
I have just watched the Green Home give away and I realized I owed HGTV Green Home an apology. Days ago I posted some questions to be asked to the winner and in one of my questions I referred to the Yukon as not being a "green vehicle", as I thought it was a regular SUV. However, as I watched the give away tonight I realized the Yukon WAS indeed a HYBRID car, which was something I did NOT notice as I signed for the Green Home and the Yukon almost every day. Please, do forgive me HGTV Green Home Staff for my mistake as I had not noticed that the Yukon was a HYbrid SUV, and I simply assumed it was a regular SUV. I was SO happy to see with my own eyes that it WAS a HYBRID car.
Yet I disagree with the "disappointed eco person", who posted her comment at 8:42 pm, because AT LEAST HGTV IS striving to not only advertise and promote GREEN but also to BE GREEN. The motive of HGTV's HEART in seeking to be and promote GREEN is what really matters and the HYBRID Yukon is still better than a regular SUV!

My special congratulations to Marsha. I truly believe she deserved to be the winner by just watching the show tonight! God bless her and her family as they enjoy the awesome GREEN home graciously given by HGTV and may Marsha and her family continue to take the GREEN lifestyle as their own....THANKS TO the efforts of HGTV to promote GREEN!

Posted by Luci – June 8, 2008 9:18 PM

As for HGTV:

Please..no more ''live giveaways please''just to get viewers to tune in;Maybe viewers next time they dont like to watch and enter more sweeptakes..It's so sad for the HGTV Channel!!..Marcia..Congrats and the rest of the winners cards!:-)

Posted by Anonymous – June 8, 2008 9:18 PM

congrats to the winner.. honestly im sad and a little upset just wondering if the winner would ever be someone who lives in an apartment? is there hope for families like ours? is there really a chance for our lives to be changed the way it is for ppl that already live in houses? i looked at my daughter and thought at least we still have each other after they announced the winner i really didnt lose anything it was my first time playing and it was kind of fun reading the comments thanks for the good luck wishes kimmie :) i will still keep the hope and faith and think i would still try to win a place to call home some where far i will still play to win our sweet escape so guess its until next time at least theres another home to be given away so til january everyone goodnite

Posted by rosemarie vega – June 8, 2008 9:25 PM

A very sincere congratulations goes out to the winner. She seemed genuinely surprised and thankful. I am elated for her, and I hope this blesses her life in a beautiful way.

As for Mrs. R and jody---Shame on you both! You know nothing about this woman. Why would you make those comments about her? Her financial status has nothing to do with a random contest. She deserves to win as much if not more than those who choose to be poor sports over losing. Could it be kharma holding you both back?

Posted by No Sour Grapes Allowed – June 8, 2008 9:25 PM

BLOGGERS, please stop being so negative about the winner of the Green Home winner. The contest rules does not say you can't already own a home, this is a giveaway. This contest is open to everyone reguardless of financial status.
I am very happy for Marcia & her family, she seemed so thrilled to have won, lets congratulate her and wish her the best.

Posted by Jan – June 8, 2008 9:25 PM

It does always seem to be those who already have money and really nice homes that win the dream homes. I'm sick of trying too. Also, how "live" are these actually?? I agree with the others...stop saying its live because it's obvious people have to be notified in advance. That woman who won the regular dream home was a joke and a big disappointment.

Posted by Laura – June 8, 2008 9:32 PM

Posted by ann rey – June 8, 2008 9:35 PM

CONGRATULATIONS MARSHA and KUDOS to HGTV, I was so hoping DEB from michigan would win something, if not the home than one of the cards, maybe next time deb, when i was watching the first thing i thought of when they said marsha was about when i was a kid and would watch the brady bunch, and that one episode when jan was jealous of marsha and she said "marsha marsha marsha" ha, that was just a flashback to my childhood, i'm green alright ha, green with envy, but, happy for marsha and her family, the green home was meant for you girl, enjoy it, and the rest of us will go on dreaming for our turn, take care everyone, Lisa...Live well Love always Laugh often...

Posted by Lisa Barnard – June 8, 2008 9:39 PM

Maybe she works really hard for that nice house.

I see many people here saying they want to move to the South and/or Hilton Head. The Green Home is about 20 miles from Hilton Head Island, they built the Green Home in an area they clear cut to make way for the development.

luci: how about NO SUVs at all? The hybrid is a joke. Read about the specs before forming an ill-informed opinion. If a car company was REALLY serious about helping the environment, they would be concentrating on true alternatives to fossil fuels. The hybrid is a wolf in sheep's clothing. And I agree with the "fake live giveaway". It's just another way of selling advertising space on tv. But, then that's what tv is all about.... congrats to the winners!

no sour grapes.... funny name for someone who posted such a sour message... "could it be karma that is holding you both back?" I am not being held back in any way and i am not criticizing the winner at all.. n- had asked previously why the winners always be individuals that already seem to be doing quite well financially and i simply replied to her that its because money attracts more money... nothing derogatory meant there.. I am happy for marsha. the unfortunate thing about these blogs is that the text is left the the readers own interpretation and you interpreted my statement incorrectly. well, goodnight and good luck to everyone who tries to win the next dream home. I think i have decided to create my own luck and just buy my own.

I agree with Laura. The people that win the dream homes already have a great life. I'm the one that has a bad life. I don't have no car, struggle to pay my bills and don't live in a great home. I'll love to win a car and a home. I hope I win the double car sweepstakes :-) thank you.

My hubby is in the military & stationed in SC. We plan on retiring in SC. I was so hoping that at least someone nearby (Like myself) would win the home. I could have been there every weekend & more. How often would someone from Florida go "UP" to Hilton Head. Enough of my sulking. Congrats to the winner! I hope you don't end up selling it or taking advantage of it. It is a worthy home for someone to ENJOY!

Congrats to the new winner and to HGTV for another great presentation. To some bloggers, I'm confused about the negative comments towards HGTV and the economical status of the winner, like you really know. The winner looked like she was probably from a very middle class neighborhood and who cares if she is from a neighborhood with a high, low or no mortgage. Bottom line everyone deserves the dream opportunity. HGTV has provided an amazing opportunity for individuals to try for the winnings of a dream. Give them a break, I believe they have been very careful to make the drawing very fair to all.

Congratulations to all Marsha, you won a beautiful home! Bernadette & Frank congratulations on your Sears & Kohler gift cards! Look forward to the Dream Home 2009 give-away!

Now that is the way I like to see the winner react!
I hope she is happy in her new "GREEN HOME"

Better luck next time to everyone else!

Congrats to Marsha and family in Bradenton FL on winning the Green Home. I think I was almost as excited as she was...I ate through every possible type of snack food watching the lead up to announcing the winner! OK, so it's not REALLY live, but this IS TV folks. Enjoy it for what it is, be happy, and stay tuned for DH09.
A great show, a fun winner, but probably not the end of the whining from some of the sour grapes out there. You go Marsha, and enjoy that Green Home winning sensation and Hybrid SUV to the max.

OMG - I am really glad this lady won! After watching the online videos with her she by no means "already has everything". I'm glad she gets to go back to the place she calls home, the place she's been trying to get back to for years. Good for you Marsha!

Posted by greengirl – June 9, 2008 12:32 AM

you know what? by most peoples standards I live in a really nice house/neighborhood too. But the other side of that picture which people don't see is 2 mortgages, working 60+ hours a week by me and my husband and other loans to allow us to live in that nice house. Don't be so quick to judge. You don't know other people's situations unless you walk in their shoes.

Marsha, all the best to you and your family.

i am glad she won....but i have postpartum depression..i have carried the hope of winning this home and now i didnt happen..but it ok..everything happens for a reason and everything has a season..but i am just sad i have to go back to my dead end job tomorrow..but that is ok too..right after they announsed her name i had this throbing pain in my heart like some one just died...i really really believed it was time for me to get a break in life..but i guess i havent suffered enough...will carry on and i am sorry to all those who played and didnt win.....sorry sorry sorry......hang in there and enter the blog cabin sweepstakes on diytv ..dont ever lose hope...dont ever quit fighting...

Its sad not to win something you had your heart set on.I'm surprised one of the many who entered tons via mail and online didn't win. The fact is we didn't win, we have no idea of her financial status. If she lived with her parents to help, has filed for bankrupcy, and if ppl noticed her apt.# said A, she was not sitting pretty. Many ppl deserve it, and almost nobody truly gets what they deserve. Keep trying, that is fair and honest.

So happy to hear the sheer excitement in Marsha's voice, Congratulations Marsha on winning a fabulous prize. Bummed out it wasn't me but now the dream continues for DH 09. HGTV I know it was a random drawing but keep picking those Florida winners! raysinflorida :)

Posted by Sue – June 9, 2008 3:25 AM

Hotmommastout, I agree that most people who win the Dream Home have to sell it - but I think that the Green Home is a much more reasonable prize that people can actually keep.

The entire prize value was about $850,000, I believe. A basic rule of thumb for taxes on prize wins is about 1/3 (this can vary depending on your tax status, of course). That would make the taxes on the entire prize about $280,000. It shouldn't be hard at all to get a mortgage for $280,000 with the security of the house. And that amount could be brought down even farther if she sells the Yukon and puts that money toward the taxes.

Congratulations, Marsha, on a big win, and I hope you'll enjoy it!

Congratulations to the winners...enjoy your blessings.Honestly,I like Marsha's personality.
Happy shopping at Sears,Frank.
Folks, time to move on and get back to reality. We'll dream again like this in January of 2009...or,better yet,I'll up my chances by driving 1 1/2 hrs. to buy lottery tickets.
As for HGTV,it doesn't matter how they conduct every Home giveaways...beggars can't be choosers.
Better luck next time...How about building the next Green Home in Sin City,Las Vegas ? People around here could use a boost in living green.
We are the only one in our neighborhood who recycles.

first of all, marsha looked like she lived in an average middle-class home. in no way did it look like she had "everything." she deserved it just like anyone who entered the contest, rich or poor. it's a random drawing. everyone has an equal chance of winning. also, for those of you that complain that you live in a small apartment, don't have a car, and can barely scrape by...i hate to break it to you, but you wouldn't be able to afford the taxes on this home anyways. marsha looked like a normal person who would be able to make this work. so, to all you sore losers, stop complaining!

Posted by Anonymous – June 9, 2008 7:53 AM

Congratulations marsha ,I am so happy you won this house. you definately seem to deserve it. don't listen to these nasty people on here who are just bittter. I hate to break it to the rest of them but its a drawing not a popularity contest. or a pitty party. so enjoy your new home and golfing.

I think Marsha is one very blessed and sweet lady. She genuinely seemed surprised and very happy to have won. CONGRATULATIONS, Marsha, you deserve this home as much as anyone else did, and I am sure that you will be very happy there. I'm sorry for everyone that had their hearts set on winning it, but, realistically, with over 21 million entering, it was literally luck of the draw. I hope everyone has a great day.

It's very interesting how Kwalters allowed rude comments to be posted but won't allow the trueth about how the winner knew who they were before the show and how the show was pretaped not to be posted!!!

Posted by Dana D – June 19, 2008 8:24 PM

Kwalters, thanks for finally letting my comment to post!
