HGTV: You never cease to amaze me. Thanks for giving us a chance to win two more wonderful prizes. And thanks Sears (buying energy saving appliances, wouldn't that be grand)? And thanks Kohler. I love your ad where a woman plops down a beautiful faucet on the table and says "design a house around this" (or something like that). Well the GREEN HOME has already done that. Designed and built the perfect GH. No wonder so many of us would love to be the lucky winner. I am go glad to know that my dear blogger friends will be in touch with this blog right up until June 8th, and hopefully beyond. Good Luck to all, and pleasant dreams.

God is good.Thank you HGTV for giving back to the world your the real Captain Planet of our world. its because of you the next generation can enjoy God's fresh air and can actually see what our earth would look like without pollution. Thank you HGTV, LIKE MY MOM ALWAYS SAY PROTECTION IS BETTER THAN CURE AND YOU JUST STARTED A PROTECTION MEDICINE WITH YOUR ECO FRIENDLY SYSTEM RATHER THAN THE GOVERNMENT HAVING TO FIND A CURE FOR OUR POLLUTION MISTAKE.

This is awesome I wish you would give away a tankless water heater it would be awesome and with the the installation fee. that would give the winner a chance to come up with some tax deductions for cutting down on energy useage.
Hell thanks HGTV for everything you have place for the people who love ya'll.

Hey Everyone! This is my first time to post. I'm a teacher and my son is in the 82nd Airborne in NC. I also have a nephew in the Navy in NC. I think I would have the ULTIMATE R & R house for our military on leave. I am a 4th grade teacher, so hopefully the tradition of a teacher winning can continue. Our house flooded in November, so a Green home would be such a blessing! I love GREEN, so who knows? My husband and I had just done the HGTV thing to our house and gutted it. I have a picture of me bashing through a brick wall adding French doors. If I can HGTV it, anyone can! I think wall texture is no different than frosting. AND...trim just hides mistakes. I LOVE HGTV!!!!! We had just finished the house right before the flood. Is God giving us a second chance to get our house right? OH NO! And I had just gotten used to the idea of not tripping over the air compressor in our bathroom. OH WELL!

Oh, I was just so disappointed because I didn't realize that the sweepstakes ended at 5PM today....I just went on line now after working all day and when I saw that the sweepstakes for the Green Home had ended I felt so bad especially because it was the last day to enter... but I must say, HGTV, you all are a CLASS ACT by giving everyone more hope in possibly winning something else...I love the Green House and was at least lucky enough to have toured it personally - the work and thought that was put into this project is just so impressive...and the generousity of everyone involved is so up lifting...

I AM SO PROUD THAT HGTV HAS TAKEN A LEAD IN THE FIGHT TO MAKE OUR PLANET A HEALTHY, HAPPY, AND HARMONIOUS PLACE TO LIVE FOR MANY MORE GENERATIONS TO COME. THE AWARENESS YOU BRING TO THE HEARTS AND MIND OF THE AVG PERSON IS FAR MORE VALUABLE THAN ANY PRIZE. I COULD SAY A MILLION REASONS WHY I WOULD PRODIGIOUSLY ENJOY THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE GREEN LIVING THRU UR HGTV HOME. THE REALITY IS I DONT EXPECT THAT AT ALL. WHAT I DO EXPECT IS THAT GREEN LIVING WILL BECOME STANDARD IN ALL YOUR HOME GIVE AWAYS. DONT DROP THE BALL. KEEP IT GOING. WHEN I FINISH MY GOAL OF BEING AN INTERPRETER FOR THE DEAF, MY FIRST AMBITION IS TO MAKE A LIFE IN A HOME THAT INCORPORATES ALL THE EFFORTS OF CONSERVATION. THANKS HGTV FOR GETTING ME THRU THESE MANY NIGHTS OF STUDYING AND WORKING. BUT IM ALMOST DONE :)I SEE DREAMS COME TRUE THROUGH YOU. I DREAM OF GREEN LIVING...AND SO DO YOU.-CARMEN,SC

kwalters, I have a question for you. This morning while attempting to enter the contest, a screen popped up and said, "Oops, you entry did not go through", therefore, I entered "all" of it again, from the very beginning. Hopefully that won't kick me out completely for the day. I did not know did it mean just one screen didn't go through, or the entire thing, so I started from the beginning. Thank you for your help here. Everyone, good luck in the newest contest, and have a wonderful Mothers Day and weekend.

Good Morning Bloggers,
Hey deb and happy early mothers day, i read where a screen popped up on you, one did to me to ,today and yesterday, it said "memory full at line 56" i said what on earth does that mean, i figured it did it yesterday because we all were probably over loading the system lol, with all of us trying to blog and enter for the sears and kohler cards, i was a hour late picking up my boyfriend from work, cause i didn't want to miss what was happening, he wasn't a happy camper, but he got over it, i also figure that kwalters just doesn't want us to go, so they came up with another plan to keep us all blogging, alot of people have mentioned that they wonder if hgtv reads our blogs?? of course they do, kwalters has answered several, and she enjoys reading them so much, they got with some of thier sponsers (sears and kohler) and came up with a couple more gifts to keep us blogging, thats how much they love us and our blogs, yes, i know thats right, gotta go, work on my paperwork, yuck, but it pays the bills, Lisa, Live Love Laugh, hey deb, you check out myspace yet?? www.myspace.com/lisa71446

I absolutely love the green home and May 19th is my 1 year Wedding Anniversary. It would be the greatest Anniversary present to win this beautiful Green home. Between my husband and I we have 5 kids and are currently in need of a home big enough for our new extended family. May 14th is my birthday Green is my birth stone color, the Emerald, that is what this home is a Beautiful Emerald. I also have family that live in North Carolina that I don't get to see much of, but all that could change if I were ever to be so lucky! I have entered every single day on line and have even sent some post cards. I have been trying to win the Dream home for the past few years. I can only Dream that Green will be my lucky color.

I was looking for a place for feedback to HGTV and couldn't find one. I love the topics on HGTV but:
I hate the hokey background music
I hate the quirky fast, jerky, camera effects
I really would like to see the features of the homes and projects. Where do your producers come from? MTV rejects?
I would like still pictures on your websites; the videos are too small and too short.
Does anyone know of another site that has the features I would like? Now it just enter key words into google images to see what I'm interested in.

Hi everyone! Lisa, I haven't yet, but I will. Wrote it down when you posted it, before I knew that HGTV was doing this other amazing giveaway. Isn't that kind of them?? And yes, I do love this picture of the house. Looks like home doesn't it?? Well, Happy Mothers Day to everyone. My grandsons are here for the night, one turns 14 on Wed the 14th, the other will turn 11 on 17Jul and they are both really well behaved, (hmm, must have something to do with the way I raised mine - seriously), good boys. I am very proud of them, they have good, caring hearts. Take care.

why would anyone ask if the producers of hgtv are mtv rejects?? that wasn't very nice or bright, oh well, this world comes with all different kind of people, some good hearted and nice, others that are not, deb, katydid, southern lady and bird lover, i'm so glad you guys are on the blog, you keep me coming back, because you are all about goodness and positivity, no negativity, the latter gets you no where, if your gonna be mean please keep your meanness to yourself, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all of you, even the mean ones, Lisa...

Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms! I am not a mom but I must say my Mom deserves to win the house. I am sure all of you too but you see My Dad died four years ago and there are 4 of us kids in the family. My Mom works so hard and has been through a lot the last four years. Mom had to sell the family home as she could not afford the payments. My Dads family has been really mean to her and I have been really sick too! I just want everyone to know that I am praying hard that our family wins the house only because my mom dreams about it, and don't tell her, but she talks about it in her sleep.
Happy Mom's Day and Thank you HGTV for the opportunity to win the house! We are in the State of Washington and really want to get back to family on the East coast so this would be perfect.

Hey Deb,
You say one of your grandson's birthday is the 17th of july? well, what do you know, so is mine, only i'm not as excited about them coming like i use to be when i was a teen, I wish i could be with my mother on Mothers Day, but she passed away in 2003, she was only 61yrs old, just turned 61, a month later on may 25th we lost her, mothers day of that year also fell on the 11th, i'll be visiting her at the cemetary, putting her favorite flower the rose on her stone, my niece sang "the rose" at moms funeral, it was beautiful, I dread mothers day, but keep a smile on my face for my 2 children, well, just thought i'd share that with you, especially the same birthdays and all, take care, and to all you moms out there in the blog HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, Lisa...

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all mothers out there! Isn't it a great day, today. My middle son, Joel, in Michigan sent me a box full of pictures in frames of my new great grandson, and his two kids. It was so great. My oldest son, Chris, also in Michigan (who, I'm sad to say is in jail right now) sent me a beautiful card, and my only daughter Sonya, gave me a beautiful card and a cd of one of the Gaither's homecoming events, Rock of Ages. And, then when we get home the dvd of the cd is on tv. I love the Gaithers, and their music is great, and is so full of the spirit of God. It was all a day early, but, that is ok. Dana, deb, katydid, southern lady, and lisa, have a SUPER MOTHER'S DAY!

To Lou Ann--I am not sure if you are referring to the Green Home site or not, but there are great still pictures of the home on the site. They actually have slide shows of each room, which are great. You just need to scroll down the page a bit. They also have a section that describes each room. I think HGTV has a wonderful website. The only picture I wished they had included was the master closet!!

Happy Mother's Day Ladies! I am a disabled mother of seven and grandma to five. I have raised my children alone for most of their lives, so they never had a real home to call their own.
It would mean the world to me if I had a home for my grand-kids to enjoy. I would also have something to leave my kids when I pass!
Yes, I am a dreamer, I hope, and I dream. I will never stop dreaming of a home of my own, its all I have ever wanted, just a place on a little piece of land to call my own. Nothing more than what most people want.
I will continue to pray that if it be Gods will, I too will have a home of my own one day. I know this with all my heart.
I wish you all the best of luck in your dreaming, and may Gods love shine upon you. Take Care and may one who is in great need win!!! Peace and Love

Happy Mother's Day! Ladies, I just have to tell you about my husband; he was born on mother's day and it falls on his birthday every few years, just as I was born on father's day, and it also falls on the same day every few years. Anyways, his mom passed years ago, but every year, he gives me roses from our garden. He also cuts 1 rose and ties it to a helium belloon and lets it go for his mother. She always had rose bushes in her yard when she was alive. Its the sweetest thing i've ever seen! Good luck to everyone!

I too love that picture of the house up above, it is so gorgeous. I look at the tour and the pics as often as I can (with 5 year old triplets and a 10 month old, I'm not on the computer as often as I'd like to be!!). I imagine sitting out back, overlooking the water, and enjoying a cup of steaming hot coffee in the wee-hours of the morning, before the kids get up, when the birds are chirping and the day is fresh and new and anything is possible (oh yes, I can dream!) lol. Good luck to all, and Happy Mothers Day!
Posted by Michelle, Atlanta GA – May 11, 2008 4:23 PM
I just thought of the complaint about the jerky camera movements as constructive criticism. I'm sure HGTV welcomes comments that would help them increase viewership and it would help some of us ol' grandmas to be able to focus on what is going on instead of feeling like we're in a disco. (Oh, dear, I'm really showing my age now! Kwalters, help!)
Seriously, for those of us whose mothers have gone on to be with the Lord, it is a tough day.
Hopped in my car, drove to one daughter in SC, and spent the weekend watching Grandkids play in the cul-de-sac.
If you are blessed with so much unconditional love, it is hard to feel sorry for yourself. For those of you who have neither Mom nor kids, nor grandkids to enjoy, may God bless and comfort you. Love, Cadconnie

Go HGTV! Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms!! It's a beautiful day in the South after receiving some much needed rain. Keeping my fingers, toes and whatever else that I can cross that the Dream Home might be in my reach. No harm in Dreaming --it keeps most of us that live in the real world with day in and day out tragedies and victories sane. Good luck to everyone and Keep on Dreaming.

Thanks HGTV!!! What a great idea and helpful thing to do, adding even more prizes. We would be thrilled and blessed to be chosen the winner of this beautiful green home, but even to win the GMC vehicle or the Sears or Kohler gift certificates would be awesome! My daughter and son-in-law are in the process of buying a trashy repo and to win any of the prizes would just be the greatest blessing, and boy could my kids use a gift certificate like that. They could do incredible things to improve their home. Thanks again!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL. LISA,I HOPE YOUR DAY WAS GOOD, I'M REALLY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOM, SINCERELY. MY VERY BEST FRIEND HAS A ROUGH TIME ON MOTHERS DAY. SHE HAD TWIN SONS, WHEN THEY WERE 4 ONE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER. THE LITTLE GUY PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT, BUT WE LOST HIM 2 YRS LATER. THEN 10 YRS LATER SHE LOST THE OTHER TWIN TO LEUKEMIA, ONE MONTH AFTER HIS 16TH BIRTHDAY. SHE HAS THE HEART AND SOUL OF A SAINT, AND HAS BEEN DEALT SOME HARD KNOCKS, BUT SHE TRYS TO STAY POSITIVE. WHEN THE HURRICANES HIT FLORIDA, THERE WAS ONE HOME DAMAGED IN HER SUB. IT WAS HERS. SO TO EVERONE OUT THERE, BE THANKFUL FOR ALL YOU DO HAVE. ENJOY LIFE EVERYDAY. BE GENTLE, BE KIND, BE A GOOD PERSON.

That is why we should appreciate every day we have, every life we touch, every flower we see. Be thankful for what we have. But let's think happy things. We get another chance at some wonderful gifts from HGTV, Sears, Kohler. WOW! And we get to blog a little longer, now just how good is that?? You take care, GOD bless you, and good luck.

How exciting, another great Green contest! I love the attention you're bringing to green building and showing all of the beautiful choices that going green has to offer. It would be so wonderful to win and share with my extended family, so I'm going to enter the contest every day and tell my family to do that too.

Well, I guess since I haven't heard the camera crews at my door, I guess I didn't win the Green Home. So now HGTV watch out. As I said in my first blogs, I have to move anyway. My granddaughter was molested by the boy who was living next dooe. Her therapist says that it is not a good idea for her to come back over here. And we all feel the same. So Nanna has to move. I think that now I may need Designed To Sell. I am entering the Secon Chance drawings also. I love HGTV and aren't they wonderful to offer all of us these opprotunities? I am so happy for the family who won. I wrote to Hilton Tradititons and got a full folder full of information on the complex and it is such a wonderful place, they should be very happy there. I've enjoyed bloging with everyone so much. Talk to you soon,Laura

Being on disability and appliances that need updated to save energy winning anything from SEARS would be great!! Starting with a hot water heater, ours is leaking!!! Any thing left over after greener appliances would go to maybe a TV and woodworking tools for mataining the house, that is if We're not moving to HILTON HEAD?!?!

Hello HGTV, Your green home is absolutely beautiful and so is the location. It certainly would be a dream come true for my husband and I if we were the lucky recipients. North Carolina is someplace me and husband have talked about retiring for some time now. He's been away for 4 years now with his job but he will be coming home for good in June. What a nice homecoming that would be. I know we all have a story to tell so good luck to everyone, and yes GOD IS GOOD.

I am vacationing on Hilton Head Island this week (Sea Pines) and had my Mother's Day wish of visiting the Green Home granted yesterday. The home is lovely! It actually felt a bit smaller than the 2,000 sq. feet it is listed as, but I am a fan of a "not so big house" vs. a McMansion. I was surprised that other than a few model homes, there has been no other building on site yet. None of the town or commercial buildings have been constructed, so you really have to use your imagination. The land was purchased in 2002, but the economy may have slowed progress, according to the bus guide. Tradition is actually about 20 miles off Hilton Head Island, but certainly within driving distance for days at the beach. The Green Home will be in a gated portion of the community with other "high end" homes. The winner of this charming home will ultimately be in a beautiful self contained community. Good luck everyone!

I am not a blogger (before the GREEN contest) but i have had some fun reading and posting. I love the fact that there is more excitement to find even after the last entry was recieved for the Green House! I love calling it that.... Anyway.....I wonder who was the last entry?
I read in one of the other areas where someone said you have a better chance of winning the Lotto than the Green House.... but the Lotto doesnt have a blog! Enjoy the dreaming.....

I don't understand......did anybody win the house yet? I thought it was suppose to air on Sunday at 8pm on the 11th but I didn't see it on HGTV. So......who won? Anybody? I am really confused...

Even if I don't win I am glad that you are making "green" the right thing to do.

Dana, that's funny. Yes, the gang is all here, you, Lisa B., Southern Lady, bird lover, Katydid and me!! Lisa, read the blog from Charlene, so sweet and what a great idea. Charlene, hope you don't mind if some of us use that, tell hubby that is so heartwarming. My husbands mother passed 3 yrs ago, and she is buried in TX, so we can't take flowers to her. He did go on the cemetarys website yesterday so he could look at her grave. I felt sorry for him that we couldn't get flowers to her - I'm big on that. There isn't anyone we can call to do it for us either. And my friend in FL who lost her only 2 children (twins) to cancer had a REALLY rough day yesterday. I knew she would. She's more like a sister to me than a friend. She would probably love to use this for her babies. Their birthday is June 30th, and they are buried here in MI, and she's in FL. But this could make her feel as though she's doing something for them. Yes, we do make sure they have flowers on their birthday. Guess I got a little carried away here, take care all...good luck!!

I've been entering contest's, sweepstakes a long time but i guess I'm just not a winner in in that way but I keep trying but congratulation's to whoever does win and it it fun to enter anyway. I like the HGTV sweepstakes that are posted. I am blessed to have a nice home and wonderful family and it would be great to win but I would be very happy for the person that does win.

I just read a comment about someone saying the camera crews haven't knocked on her door...meaning she obviously didn't win the Green Home. Does anyone know exactly when they let the Green Home winner know? Is it pre-recorded? I believed they announced the winner live on June 9th and that is when the winner knows they one as well? I thought i still had a chance. Please let me know! Heidi
Posted by Heidi – May 12, 2008 1:28 PM
That is really cool because there would be 1 overall winner out of thousands and thousands that entered so thanks HGTV and we all have another chance. - Donna

HGTV has offered an opportunity for the average person to recieve the ultimate give of the Green Home along with the others homes that have been entered for sweepstakes. I could only imagine, but it gives one hope to even think it could be. So thank you all for a great opportunity to be blessed with such a fabulous gift.

This will be my third blog entry and so far, none have been put onto the blog site. I don't understand why. I know that you screen the first entry, however, i never did see that it was put onto the site. I have some questions, and have not been able to get them answered. My questions and comments were very innocent, and there would be no reason it was not put up on the board. Are everyone's comments created equal on this site and shown? Or are there "favorites"? My first blog entry was on May 9th...second was today, May 12 over two hours ago and now at 12:09 p.m. Please post my comments. My last entry was to ask if when they let the actual winner of the Green Home know..is it pre-recorded? I thought i still had a chance and that the winner was surprised live on June 9th. However, after reading some of the commments, it's sounds like the winner was already told; in which case i would like to know so that i can stop wondering if i'm a winner. Thanks, Heidi

Lisa, congrats on the bingo win, too cool!
Elizabeth, you made me laugh at the "mcmansion" reference....someone watches Grey's perhaps?? lol I'm a big fan too (McDreamy, McSteamy...it's all good).
Tornado hit about a mile away from us on Mother's Day morning. Our home was fine, but the power went out at 5:30 a.m. and didn't come back til after 11am. Suffice to say we did not stay at home to wait it out. With 4 children, you cannot stay in a house without power! So we had a morning at the park, it was nice. :-) Maybe our future mornings will be walking around Tradition SC?!! lol

Last one to log on....hmmm....I was so busy dreaming about the HGTV green home that I almost forgot. Entered about 4 minutes before the deadline. Good luck to everyone. Thanks HGTV for the Green Home. It's a beauty. It's full of the most wonderful energy saving concepts, some I never imagined. How about the electric company paying you for not using all the energy made by the roof system. I'm all for that!

I've just been through a very busy weekend. My son, his wife, their daughter all had birthdays and an anniversary and Mothers Day and a marvelous musical production in Windsor, Ont. deb, no, I didn't take a boat, went this time through the tunnel. There was so much to read on this blog that I only could get through Dana D's request of 5-10-08@10:30PM. I think it went "Hail, ect the gangs all here, what the heck (hell) do we care, repeat, HHTGAH, what the heck do we care now?"
Taking a deep breath and dreaming about the Green Home, I see I'm not the only one who missed the last entry because it closed at 5:00pm. Self to brain: Remember that in the future. deb, I had the same Ooops problem and finally did today what you did and got a "thanks".
Lisa Barnard: I love your posts! loved your answer to the "hate lady". But please, please don't ever dread Mother's Day. Your Mom is at peace, and I hope you will get a sign such as a few rose petals where you least expect them. Please remember you are making memories for your sons, and they would like to remember a smiling happy Mom. Enough for tonight, I will read more blogs tomorrow. Good Luck, and pleasant dreams.

What a great giveaway to support Tradition HH AND the Green Home sweepstakes. If we are not fortunate enough to win the home, we will visit Tradition in August to view the area. The Sears or Kohlers gift certificates would benefit anyone building a home, with the same products shown in the Green Home.

I applaud HGTV for bringing "Green" to the forefront of home building. Where else could you find such a wide variety of building materials showcased in one show and you made it doable for everyone to take their part in keeping the world green! You are wonderful to think of this new venue in your fun fun home givaway!

I think this is a great idea.
This mothers day, my family and I were chatting about HGTV giveaway and we thought of another great idea for HGTV.
Mother Day Giveway. How about giving away two homes next to each other. One for MOM and one for the daughter and give the home away on Mothers Days.
Thank you HGTV for all the great idea.

Good morning everyone. It is a beautiful sunrise this morning, but I would just bet the sunrise at the 'Green Home' is much prettier. Good luck to everyone in this 'GET MORE GREEN SWEEPSTAKES'. It is very nice of HGTV, SEARS and KOHLER to offer this opportunity to all of us. Have a wonderful day.

Yes, I know the contest is over. But I just toured the home again. I am amazed at every inch of this home. The thought, care, concern that went into everything from the roof to the foundation and the ground it sits on, is nothing short of miraculous. Absolutely nothing was left out. I would so honor this home by keeping it 'Green', letting it be used as a tour for schools or other educational purposes, and pay the taxes, insurance etc. Not to mention get to walk to the fitness center every morning, and plant my dads palm trees 'outside'. Ok, ok, I'll stop. But, when I look at this home I get carried away. It is absolutely incredible, every single inch of it. This home really needs someone who will protect everything it stands for. That's me!!! Good all.

I can't wait until they pick the winner of this beautiful Green Home! My family and I watch the Dream Home every year as we have been trying to get a house for 2 years now. We even write the date on our calendar so that we don't miss it.
To: Mama's Garden, as the rules state I see that they will be determining the winner on May 19th that is why I posted a blog about the 19th being my 1 year Wedding Anniversary and I am guessing the winner will be notified about a week or 2 before the show airs on Sunday June 8th at 8:00 pm. Good luck to everyone and keep dreaming

Good Morning to you all,
Deb, Southern Lady Katydid Bird Lover, Dana, and my new myspace friend mchelle, yes yes dana, hail hail the gangs all here, alot of the bloggers are thinking the green home has already been given away, can't be, its not june the 8th yet, besides there hasn't been any notification my way yet, ha, you all know that if and when i get notified, ill probably be under strict orders not to tell, mums the word, they'll say, or your disqualified, i can't have that, but when i'm on tv i'll be sure to mention the names of all my blogging buddies, ok? just kidding, but, if it happens then that's how i'll do it ok?? Lisa...

I'm sorry i forgot to mention to Charlene,
that was a nice story and a absolutely beautiful thing that your husband does for his mother, it has given me a idea to do the same for my mother, as roses were her favorite, we have a humongous rose bush that she brought down from virginia, and after all these years it grows like it has miracle grow on it, and we never do anything to it, but look at it, my niece sang "the rose" at her funeral, it was so sad but so beautiful, thank you for sharing that on the blog with us all, take care, Lisa...

HGTV you are the greatest, giving us the opportunity of a lifttime to win a beautiful eco-friendly "green home" and now the Sears and Kohler prizes. I definetly could use both of those. My home of 25 years needs alot of remodling. I have managed to re-do our 2 bathrooms but the rest of the house hasn't been so lucky yet. Need a whole new kitchen, flooring, well let's just say we could use anything and everything. Still hoping and praying for the green home. It is PERFECT for a conservationist like me. Already thinking about inviting the family then my "girlfriends" for a vacation. They love Hilton Head also.
Well, HGTV, when you said they would be a surprise coming, I told my husband that I bet it would be "some green - like in money". This is perfect, I love Sears and Kohler. My parents and now my family has always shop at sears. My parents always buy kenmore products and have them in their home. Well good luck to everyone and God Bless

DEB,
what part of texas is her grave?? you know i only lve 1 hour from the state line, i don't care for texas much (bad experience) but, i could over look that and cross the state line to place flowers on her grave, besides if no one is there to keep up with it, it will get alittle run down, as far as the stone and all, i know, if i don't go to my moms for awhile it gets bad, the other day it had a big huge ant pile on it, now it's got ant killer on top of it, 'll teach those critters, but, seriously tho, where at in texas??? Dear Blogger Friends: Each time you post I learn more about your personal lives, and I love you even more. Even though Mother's Day is past, let me share one I will never forget.
It was the closing performance of "Hello Dolly", a matinee, and it happened to be on Mother's Day. When the final curtain came down, I had to run up the backstage staircase to the platform and be changed into the wedding gown, shoes and big white hat for my final entrance. This required three dressers because it was all music timed.
All went well and I made my entrance down the "grand staircase", recieved my flowers, and then: a sleepy three year old son stunbled on stage to "go see mommy". (A surprise from my loving neighbors) Well, now I scooped him into my other arm, and there I was, no way to wipe the tears streaming down my face.
On a more somber note: bird lover: I, too, have a son called Chris, who is in a "Correctional Facility". It's a heartbreak. But his twin sister is an angel on earth. And that little Michael, is my computer genius. I couldn't be blogging without him.
Thanks HGTV, we really love you and your programs. Good Luck to all who hope to win and pleasant dreams.

Elizabeth, thank you for the update on Tradition HH. IF we don't receive a knock at our door :o) we plan to visit Traditions while in HH this August. The patio homes interest us and our hope is that a model home will be completed by then. The Kohler and Sears certificates would be a great help in building a home using the products in the Green Home.

thanks HGTV for this exciting contest....questions, Deb and other Mich. bloggers, what part of the state are you from? I am just outside Lansing, wouldn't it be the greatest thing in the world to move to the warm and beautiful state of SC? Also, what happens to the monies collected by uncle stan if the winner is not one of the people who sign up for their program. Do they keep the funds. Someone had a brilliant business idea with that one. With 40 million entries for the last house, if even a fraction of the entrants sign up, they will do well.

Katydid,
that was a pleasant story that u shared with us all, thank you, i'm just sitting here late tonight watching the Golden Girls, I love that show, my mother and i use to watch it together all the time, it plays reruns over and over , but thats ok, i still watch it, blanche is sure a character, well they all are, rose is so silly with her saint oliff stories that they all hate to listen to, it's fun to watch, any how, i just clicked on the blog, cause it's part of my day/night now, saw the new blog from kwalters with all the nice pics of my new location, (just kiddng), but always praying i'm the random pick, as we all are, deb, when you said that if you were not picked it would not be from your lack of trying, you got that right girl, GOOD LUCK to you and to all of you, MAY GOD BLESS US ALL, Lisa...

I have asked a question to all of you, and to HGTV three times now with no response. No, I wasn't an "original blogger" on this site from the beginning of the contest. However, i can't understand why someone can't answer simple questions by others just joining as well. Does anyone on here - who is willing to actually be nice and answer - know if they have already picked and contacted the winner of the Green Home? Does HGTV contact the winner ahead of time, before the actual airing of the show in June? Or does the winner get surprised live when everyone else finds out? I would like to know if i actually still have the opportunity to win or not, as i'm sure other's would as well. Is there someone who actually knows how this all works. I wish i knew exactly how they picked the winner and got ahold of their family to surprise them; when there is no family contact info requested on the entry form. Any ideas on this??

Katydid, I'm sorry to hear about your son
Chris! I too have a son named Christopher. He goes by Chris to everyone but me! He is 18 and left home because I am to strict. He now lives in Texas. It's hard because I love him with all my heart and I miss him but he's at that age where he thinks he knows best, not mom! I worry all the time that something will happen and I won't be there to protect him, Guess I always will! Just thought I share that with you. Gotta go now, that's an emotional topic! Have a good night everyone! Bye for now.

Hey guys, In my eagerness to tell you my Hello Dolly...Mother's Day story, I forgot to mention the most important thing. It was also my little son's birthday! Well, today, May 14th, I had lunch with him on his 41st birthday. Lisa B., I think that puts him at about your age, so it should give you an idea about my (old) age. Lisa, that was the nicest offer to deb. I wish I lived closer to you so I could give you a great big hug. Your mention of Golden Girls: My Mom (long since passed) was Swedish, so Rose always reminded me of her. If I won a mega lottery, I would build GREEN HOMES in Tradition for all of you, so we could be neighbors. HGTV: See how much we love you for building the perfect DREAM GREEN HOME? Good Luck to all and pleasant (green) dreams.
Posted by Katydid – May 14, 2008 5:55 PM
Dear anonymous...I will try to answer your questions, I believe the winner will be announced on or about June 8, 2008. The winner is determined by a random drawing out of all the entries (last Florida dream house had about 41 million entries) The winner does not know in advance, they are surprised during the live broadcast. This contest may be a bit different because I believe they will be drawing 5 names as finalists and bringing those 5 people to Memphis or Nashville, wherever Scripps in headquartered for a show. They usually arrange with one of your friends or family members to have you in a certain place so they know where to find you to let you know you won. If you read the sweepstakes rules, it will give you details. Then, when you win, you are responsible for the IRS taxes of approximately 35% or about $272,000. (give or take). They can get a lot of information from your phone number alone, it is amazing how much information one can obtain with just the least bit of info that you provide, (if you know where to look or how to research it)or if you suggested a friend to enter, they may contact them. Don't worry, if you are the winner, they will find you.

Wow this is great! I'm so excited about this home it is so beautiful. I hope to be at least a finalist - sorry all. :) Anyway if not, at least I have other chances. Have a great day!

Thank you Kim! You are one of the thoughtful one's on here. It's amazing to me that a site like this can form this kind of circle, where noone actually knows the other and yet people still manage to form this "click", almost like high school where the "outsiders" get ignored. Very strange. Anyway - thank you for answering all of my ?s! I am surprised the winner finds out live and not ahead of time, as many of the bloggers on here have made comments as if they had given up on the Green Home and were now hoping only for the Sears prize. As if they knew they didn't win because they weren't notified yet. So, i assumed it was common knowledge that HGTV has already notified the winner ahead of time. Thanks for clearing that up!
Posted by anonamous – May 15, 2008 11:59 AM
Dana D. I am also sorry to hear about your Christopher. I can understand your missing him and the worry. Do you know how to reach him? Are you at all in touch. I will pray for his safety. Have faith and God Bless.
Posted by Katydid – May 15, 2008 5:28 PM
Wow! $272,000 in taxes? If I worked my current job, and put every penny of my income towards the taxes, it would take me ten years to pay all that!

To: anonymous, I believe if you read the official rules it states that the judges will determine the winner on or about May 19th and I am almost positive that they do surprise the winner about a week or 2 before the show airs, giving the winner time to get their family and friends together. This is not a live show but they show a tape of the winner getting surprised. I have been watching the Dream Home for the past few years but have not blogged on this site until last week. Good Luck to all.

Anonymous, so I guess I was wrong, the show I did see was, I thought, live. But it makes more sense to let the winner know ahead of time. I had the impression that they were doing something different this time, choosing 5 finalists, and doing a show with them, but I could be wrong. So, the 19th is coming up...good luck to you. And for Angela, even if you win and need to sell to pay the IRS bill, you will still come out a huge winner, with a car, furnishings, and about a half million dollars left over. An enormous blessing, and if you do qualify to get a mortgage and can move into the house, that would fabulous, too.

I have also had May 9th marked on my calendar since this contest started. It was amongst other dates of when bills were due, appts, etc. Ironically, this was the Friday I was looking forward to with HGTV contest ending and taking my daughter to a concert in Madison Square Garden in NYC. On this date, I lost my mom to a stroke and this day no longer represented a dream, but one of the saddest days of my life. I will not mark my calendar on the date of the announcement of the winner because of fear. Maybe the heavens will make my phone ring or I will hear a knock on the door announcing my family as a winner.

Hello everyone,
I had the opportunity to visit Tradition Hilton Head and take the tour of the HGTV Green Home and words cannot express how I felt. The Green Home is beautiful, perfect in every way, and the information I gained from the tour itself was inspiring toward wanting to do more for our environment then my husband and I currently do. I want to thank HGTV and everyone responsible for the Green Home as well as what is being done there to help protect our environment; God bless you all.
Whoever is the very lucky winner of the HGTV Green Home, enjoy it and please respect and appreciate what it stands for.
There was a male individual on the tour bus when my husband and I went on the tour of the Green Home that was very arrogant and I sensed did not respect or appreciate what the Green Home and the surrounding property stood for. It was upsetting to me that he showed so little respect for the environment he lives in and that is why I pray that the lucky winner will appreciate and respect what they have won.
Reading some of the blogs, it is my understanding from the rules of the Green Home that the winner and/or finalists will be selected on our about 19May08; winner will be announced on HGTV on 8Jun08.
God Bless,
Deb C.

Well, still didn't get my pcitures downloaded but that is because my youngest son called and said he had a house he wanted my husband and I to go look at. My son and his fiance are getting married soon and are looking to buy their first house. This house needs work - not much but it does need lots of TLC and either of these gifts would be wonderful to help them get started living GREEN. He's my son who was in the Marines. It's not a big house, but it's a solid house and it has a nice yard and best of all, the price is something they can afford. They both work very hard, he is an electrician like my husband and she is a medical biller/assistant. So, I say good luck to everyone, and I hope I at least win one of these gifts. Thanks again HGTV, SEARS and KOHLER!!

Any way to know if/when the finalists have been notified? I am joyously and anxiously still waiting by the phone. Surely they are just running behind??? : )

Hey Chrissy! I joined this new website called "myunclestan.com" and they help the winner with the taxes. Even for the next HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes.

Angela, never give up hope that you can own your own home... I don't know where you live but you did comment that it would take your 10 years to pay the IRS bill, so by using that information alone, it is possible that you could buy a home in the range of $60,000. If you choose a govt. insured loan, like fha, you can actually get into a home with as little as $1000 to $1500, with a payment of under $600, depending on the property taxes in your state. My daughter and son-in-law are buying their first home this way, it is a trashy repo, but an incredible deal. You can ask the seller to pay up to 6% of your closing costs and you will need very little cash to close. (Assuming you have decent credit). Always have hope for something better, and believe it can happen for you. It might be more difficult if you live in Cal. or some place where values are much higher than in the mid-west, but given our economic situation in most states, housing has become more affordable than it has in years. Kim, Thanks for the information. I am currently prepping to take my real estate license and some day I will own my own home. I don't know if there is another Angela on this blog? but I don't recall mentioning anything about the taxes but I do recall reading another blog that did. I live in Levittown, PA. everyone calls it Leave it town. The reason my husband and I can not get a home right now is due to bad credit, that we are working on right now. I have never had my own home but my husband has and we are unable to get that first time home buyers deal. houses around here are in the range of $200,000 or more and interest rates are very high right now due to the housing market, but I will still keep Trying and Dreaming

Angela, good luck on your real estate licensing exam...it is GREAT career. Maybe there is another Angela, someone posted saying if they won it would take them ten years to pay off the IRS taxes from winning this home. I must of been confused, never really know who you may be talking to on these things. Very interesting though.

Kim, I'm not sure if you will come back to this blog, but I want to say thank you and good luck. Since they have not yet announced the winner for the Green Home, if I am not the winner than I hope that someone such as yourself "A good hearted person" wins this beautiful house.

Hi All,
Kwalters posted a response to bloggers on a different spot so I thought I would share w/you all since I too had some of the same questions. According to KWalkters They picked a winner on May 22nd but the winner had not been notified as of yet. Now I don't know if that has changed as it is the 30th. Some of the other bogs sites have gotten away from the topic of the Green Home. Thanks to Elizabeth for dishing on actually having been to the Green Home, I was curious about the area. I think the current economy has slowed many things everywhere, even vactions spots. I figured the home was on the smaller side, It doesnt' seem like this is a full time area, meaning this area is not where people live full time. Either way I agree it is good it isn't a McMansion, we need to get back to the way things used to be a little bit more! Living Green is a good way to start. I was thinking of ways to "Cottage my House". Sounds odd but I live in one of those new construction areas, cheaper than the houses that already have the charm, now I am faced with how to put some originality in our home to give it personality. HGTV has lots of ideas in the homes they build. Have a great weekend all, of course I would love to win, who wouldn't, am curious as heck if the winner knows...... Funny like being a kid counting down until Santa comes down the chimney, so hard to wait but in the end when it is over, although a tad sad, we all survive and move on to the next contest! Cheryl
