Well, I see where the lacation is revealed, but with this old computer of mine i can't see where the 2009 Dream Home will be, I'll have to keep reading the blogs to see, or do more digging untill i find it YAHOO, Lisa B...

I think it's in California but I'm not sure.I can't move there.I'll keep hoping for the GREEN HOME!

Posted by Dana – April 16, 2008 5:46 PM

LISA BERNARD:O.k., I had a duh moment! Now that I've watched all the video I can say for certain that it is in Sanoma,Ca.Hope this helps!

Posted by Dana – April 16, 2008 5:59 PM

Sonoma, CA...I will definately visit the 2009 HGTV dream home. Finally, a home close enough to visit and a great location! Great work Jack!

Posted by Ella – April 16, 2008 7:36 PM

Peace at last! Sanoma, they do produce a very nice selection of wines. I just came in from yard work and I could use a nice vintage but work tomorrow. I would of loved to tool around with Jack in that car, finding the perfect spot. At last, I wondered about the Dee family and their reaction. They certainly took some chill pills. I guess folks in that part of the country are very unemotional, shy etc. Jack really did a fine job on that home. Finding the new location superb. I'm exhilarated just from the snippet there he goes again, tease with a please, loved it. (Let the construction begin.) JUST DREAMING! Wake me when it's complete.lol

Posted by Mary from PA – April 16, 2008 8:48 PM

Well, I also watchedthe video of the Dream Home. Yes, Sonoma, CA is the place. I don't know much about Sonoma, but I know it will be beautiful. However, if I had my choices, I would still want the GREEN HOME. Absolutely everything about it is so exceptional and exactly where we need to be headed as a country. If I won it, I would not have a problem one if folks still wanted to come by and check it out. I would invite them in and have the sweet tea ready. Take care everyone and good luck to all. Oh yeah, it's 4:55am, I woke up at 4:35am, thinking about the GREEN HOME. I could not go back to sleep, so "Good Morning" everyone.

Posted by deb – April 17, 2008 4:59 AM

Woohoo!! Although I have never been there I have always wanted to move there. I have heard many great things about Sonoma Ca!! I am from Connecticut and really really need to get out of this cold climate. Hubby says the only way we can move to Ca is if I win the Dream Home so my fingers are crossed!! Although it is warmer in SC than Ct too so I wouldnt mind the Green Home either. Ok pinch me, now I am dreaming!

Posted by Lori – April 17, 2008 7:11 AM

Wow! I have heard stories of California; how crowded it is, earthquakes, mudslides, etc. Sonoma looks like a small town on the video! I'm just a country girl, but I can't wait to see what the new HGTV Dream Home looks like when it's finished!

Posted by Charlene – April 17, 2008 11:25 AM

Hope it's not on the part that's going to break off into the ocean, lol. Just kidding.

Posted by bird lover – April 17, 2008 12:20 PM

CA, but soooo expensive. I would rather just have a dream home built on my own 12.5 acres right hear in MS 45 miles North of New Orleans. Haven't been able to do it myself anyway since the darn storms.

Posted by Gwendolyn – April 17, 2008 3:13 PM

JACK THOMASSON: In case your wanting advice for the 2009 Dream Home.I personnally did not like the floor plan of the 2008 Dream Home.I would never have my daughter in a bedroom downstairs with french doors while my bedroom was 2 floors above hers! Not in today's world!I think the master bedroom should always be on the first floor and the childrens above.Other than that ,GREAT JOB as usual! Can't wait to see the 2009 Dream Home! You picked a great spot even if I can't move there!

Posted by Dana – April 17, 2008 4:22 PM

I think the new home will be in Glen Ellen, CA.
To live in the wine country will be like a double
dream. The person who wins this home will be the
luckiest person and of course like everyone else I would love to be that person, so I will keep
trying. Good luck to all of us.

Posted by Alicia – April 17, 2008 4:37 PM

Hope it is in Georgia because i don't like movig to far

Posted by hamsterlover – April 17, 2008 7:08 PM

I watched the clip. I'm pretty sure it's in Sonoma, California- my home state. I love CALIFORNIA, and I would never move anywhere else. And the house... It looks great and very efficient, especially for a working class family like mine. Also, I really want to participate in one of HGTV programs, but they don't have anything in Orange County, only in LA and SF areas. I truly think they should expand to more location. Isn't it great?

Posted by Jacob Chappell – April 17, 2008 7:23 PM

California is nice, but I am dreamin' about the Green Home. Asked my older daughter if she is entering the sweepstakes and she noted: as often as she can. Told her I am making a major effort to win. She was worried that, if I won, I'd just sell it (she loves it!)
Told her I never win anything, but if I should, both kids & their families & I would have to meet, spend some time there, & figure out what to do. If they both wanted to keep it, they could pay half each of the taxes and upkeep & we could split it thirds. But just one thing: I keep the Yukon Hybrid!!!
She laughed & said she'd told her husband that's what I would say. She knows me too well! (It's a really nice vehicle, what can I say?)

Posted by Connie – April 17, 2008 7:38 PM

What type of home is Jack building for us this year? I hope we'll have some input about the decor etc, etc, etc. I love this program and all the others, they are so informative. STAFF you put it all together year after year do you ever get burned out? Loved the video! I guess Jack has alot of friends in his neck of the woods, not to much partying, only if I'm invited. HEY when is ground breaking DAY its less than a year away from the next contest. You have big shoes to fill the homes there are gorgeous. Poss.GM's electric car or two for that LUCKY Person think Green its CA. NITE!!!! Gas is 3.49 here ouch! 84 degree for Friday Thank GOD! (ENJOY CA.)

Posted by Mary from PA – April 17, 2008 9:26 PM

Well, I'm here on this site because when you log onto the Green Home page this pops up. I prefer the Green Home over the Dream Home, although I, like anyone else, would turn neither one down. I have always wanted to visit California, and tour the coastline, and see everything there is to see. So, yes, I would move there if I were given the option. But really, the Green Home is what I would prefer. Tradition sounds like the "PERFECT" place to retire, and I'm ready.

Posted by deb – April 18, 2008 7:05 AM

I am really getting confused, I thought the location was Armstrong Estates. So what you are saying is, that is not the development. My next guess would be Bodega Bay near the Nicholas Green Bell Tower or Glen-Ellen home of Jack London. I think any town in Sonoma would be wonderful.

Posted by Jan – April 18, 2008 10:51 AM

I live in Azusa,CA and would love to have a chance for this dream home! A dream come true for us! I am 60 this year and what a gift for my family. I have never had such lovelyness!
God Bless.

Posted by Linda – April 18, 2008 12:19 PM

The last dream home I entered and thought I was gonna win, but now I think I'm going to win even more because the date the winner is revealed is the anniversary of my house burning down two years ago. I think I deserve it

Posted by kayla – April 18, 2008 12:24 PM

Kelly, Could you please verify something for us? A person came on the Green Home message board and said they toured the Green Home. They said it cost $20.00 per person (which we all know about) but they said the part that upset them was that $10.00 of it only went to Charity and the other $10.00 went to HGTV for the "shuttle bus". I thought the entire amount went to charity. Please help. Thanks, velvet

I have hope & faith that I will win the 2009 dream home, that is were I met my first true love & was away from him for twenty five years & we have reunited , he now lives in Denver Colorado & I live in St. Louis & we commute , not as much as we would like , but it is our dream that we go back to California & start over , thats why I have faith that I will win , the home would be perfect, for us . the home is breath taking . Michele Gaines April 18th 08, St. Louis

Posted by Michele Gaines – April 18, 2008 3:42 PM

What happens if I win? If I can't afford the income taxes and/or association fees what happens next. I have searched the website for the rules but I can't find them. Thanks.

Posted by Jim Vanderpool – April 18, 2008 7:36 PM

How wonderful would it be to live next to the water....my dream...plus a green home, just what we as a nation should be looking to do....I want it and I want it badddddd! Small town girl from NY State with most of my children and my grandchild living in Charlotte, NC....I think it would be just close enough. Just ready for retirement.

Posted by maureen – April 19, 2008 9:03 AM

I'll guess this home in Sanoma, CA will be designed with it's own wine cellar & Spanish effects. I'm sure it'll be most beautiful since HGTV is Building it. But, I'll stay to the east, rather than earthquake country. Will it be special
designed & built due to earthquakes ?

Posted by Mitchell Tickle – April 19, 2008 10:53 AM

I have been entering to win the HGTV dream home for the past 4 or 5 years. Not saying anything bad about the winners of the Dream Homes but you would think their reactions would be a little bit more exciting. I mean to be made instant millionaires, that is such a blessing. You could do so much, help so many. My husband and I have had a tough year with him being in the mortgage industry and the current state of our economy. So winning would be that much sweeter. My dream right now would be to win the 2008 Green Home. I love the low country and the beaches it‘s perfect. I actually had a dream that I lived in the Green home, I guess we shall see if that dream will come true.

Posted by Rita – April 20, 2008 2:12 AM

Thinking of the Green Home again. Watching HGTV. I love that channel. A person can learn something from every single one of their shows. Being selling a house, or remodeling.

Posted by deb – April 20, 2008 11:58 AM

I have to agree with Rita on the reactions of the past winners. I think I was more excited for them than they were. But, they could have just been in shock. I hear the next Dream Home is in CA. I would rather live in South Carolina personally! I love the green home inside-out. I am sure I will fall in love with the CA. house too, when I see it. HGTV does such a good job with these houses.

Posted by don r heinze – April 20, 2008 12:02 PM

I live in Sonoma County and have entered many of the HGTV home contests. I've always said to myself that it would be wonderful to win but I just wouldn't want to live anywhere but Sonoma County. The the weather is perfect and the beauty of this area cannot be beat. I'm 30 minutes closer to the beach than the City of Sonoma so it's a little cooler here in summer. Most days the temperature is between 75 and 85 without the annoyance of high humidity. The winner of the HGTV Dream Home 2009 will indeed be blessed!

Posted by Lily's Mom – April 20, 2008 2:19 PM

I love the locations of all of your Dream Homes...every year is more exciting. But nothing is more exciting than the creation of the Green Home. I live in Austin, Texas, which is the greenest city in Texas but only #39 among the 72 largest cities in America--we're wroking on improve that number. I love Austin but I'd kiss it goodbye to live in the Hilton Head and be closer to my son & daughter-in-law (who live in North Augusta, SC) and are trying to start a family. Wouldn't that be a DREAM COME TRUE!
A Huge HGTV fan in Austin!

Posted by Karen Welch – April 20, 2008 4:27 PM

KAREN WELCH: It was so nice to hear from someone in Austin,Texas! My oldest son moved to Austin with a friend of his about 3 months ago from here in S.C.I still haven't got use to him being gone. I've never been to Austin,it's nice to hear that it's so nice there.I'm hoping that if I win the Green Home he'll come home more often!I use to live in North Agusta years ago. The Agusta Mall was my favorite! The river walk was my second!I hope your son and daughter-in-law get to start a family soon! Have fun dreaming of the Green Home ! I know I am!Bye for now.

Posted by Dana – April 20, 2008 10:22 PM

I have to hope for the green house for I don't have a home,I really hope to win this home it is very pretty and my favorite colors.I want this home so bad somewhere to call home, gosh and the master bed room is so pretty, and the bath oh I just love that tub, always dreamed of a tub I could just sit in and relax and soak in after a long day.I need this home and I want this home and I keep dreaming that someday it will be mine,I hope I win it.I want a place to call my own.

I love the fact that they went green and many communities are making a huge differnce not so much for our future but our children's future. Just knowing that the world is slowly but surely pulling together to achieve better living.

I have been entering for the Green Home since it started. I maybe missed two days but i hope and pray that I do win that Home.

I got engaged in January to a wonderful man and a wonderful family (cuz you know when you marry the man you also have to marry the family...thats okay cuz i love them!) and right now we are trying to save money so we can have a wonderful wedding and a beautiful home so we can start our humongous family.

I am a Full Time Student and a full time worker.
I'm majoring in Special Education and my fiance is applying to become a Fireman. We are doing our best to acheive the greatest life not for ourselves but for our future children. We are great believers in helping others. As you can see by our choice of careers. But we are also major believers in Adopting/Foster Care. We would love a big family.

Winning that home would mean the world to us. We would appreciate it greatly.

Good luck to everybody!

Green living is a call to serve nature. This home is beautfully nestled and decorated by nature inside and out. I hope to win, but regardless, may the winner treasure and embrace the joy of green living!

Posted by Iliana – April 22, 2008 9:30 AM

The Green Home is absolutely everything I could ever want in my Dream Home. It would be the perfect place for my husband and I to retire to.
I have been entering the dream home every year since it started. Sure would be great to win this time.
Good luck everyone!

Posted by Beth – April 22, 2008 1:06 PM

How come a lot of people just wanna sell the house? It's a great place to live though. And it's not fair for others because they enter the sweepstake to make some profit. But I do agree with some of them, Yukon is nice!!! Comparing to my Ford Explorer, it's totally different.

Posted by Jacob Chappell – April 22, 2008 4:00 PM

I just read all of the comments and was very impressed about the one which gave the temps.and weather conditions in the Sonoma area. It sounds so beautiful there. I have entered the Green Home giveaway and LOVE the area there. I was brought up on the east coast. I was also born in SanDeigo. You guested it, Navy brat. Anyway, I would just like to die near the ocean, any ocean. Love to do any and every outdoor sport. But, I am land locked here in Tennessee.HELP!!!!!

Dear HGTV,
Yes, I'm still dreaming that I'll win the Green House, since I didn't win the Dream House this year! And the new Dream House 09 in Sonoma,CA will keep me dreaming next year if I fail to win the Green Home. HGTV, thanks for keeping us all dreaming of an awesome new home with beautiful furnishings and a new vehicle, too!

Dreaming again...
Looking forward to that phone call or knock on the door...whichever it will be...
Ready to move in a hearbeat, Sonoma looking beautiful, also Hilton Head...great places to raise a family.
I hope the previous winners are happy and able of appreciating the beautiful house...they are very lucky...

Posted by Ted – April 23, 2008 10:05 PM

I am not as familiar with the west coast as I am the east coast. My education comes form television and reading about it. I did go to Palms Springs when my son was stationed at 29 Palms (Marine base), CA., but that was only for a weekend. It was very pretty there. Of course, I could learn to live there, and since my dad instilled and adventerous spirit in me, I would love it.

Posted by deb – April 24, 2008 7:40 AM

The dream home sounds wonderful, but like a few comments on here the Green home is for me a Dream home !!! I am very homesick for South Carolina, since i have spent so many wonderful years there.HIlton Head is only a stones throw from my kids and wow that would be a dream come true.
Thanks so much HGTV for giving us Carolinians a chance to go home!!!!
Sincerely....Dena

Posted by Dena – April 24, 2008 8:30 PM

I wouldn't turn down a dream home or a green home. But I have to admit, I'm less than thrilled about the layout of the green home. Seriously lacking on bedroom space. The kid's room looks super tiny.
Would have been better to have three regular sized bedrooms.
And is it located on a creek and how close. Guess you gotta watch for the gators!
But draw my name...pleeze

Posted by sandy – April 25, 2008 11:35 AM

Ok, so I would move to Sonoma, CA if given the option. I know it will be a beautiful home and from what others say, a beautiful area. Oh, and I do like a little glass of wine now and then.

Posted by deb – April 25, 2008 5:43 PM

My husband's older sister and her family live in Sonoma - whoever wins this dream home will certainly be living in a little slice of heaven!!!! Not only is the scenery gorgeous, but the people are really wonderful. Good luck everyone!!!

Posted by Elizabeth Barnwell – April 26, 2008 12:35 PM

My husband and I would love to win either the Green Home or the 2009 Dream Home, (which I hope will include many Green Features as well), but it would an incredible thrill to win the Sonoma home because my husband was born there and he is the Great, Great Grandson of Redwood Thompson, a pioneer who came to Glen Ellen by horseback in the 1850's and homesteaded on Sonoma Mountain. My husband is going through treatment for thyroid cancer and winning this home would be an amazing blessing. Susan

Posted by Susan – April 27, 2008 12:31 AM

Susan: I am sorry that your husband is batteling cancer! I hope he beats it!

Posted by Dana Dryburgh – April 27, 2008 6:10 PM

Susan: I wanted to give you and your husband an encouraging scripture to read for the day. It's at Isaiah 33:24.

Posted by Dana Dryburgh – April 27, 2008 7:09 PM

Susan, I will keep your family in my prayers. I think it would be wonderful for your family to win this home. How amazing to be related to such an important part of American History. The pioneers were some strong people. Can you imagine the struggles they faced everyday? And some think we have it bad? That's why I am thankful for what I have. My family heritage has been traced back to the 1600's coming to America. I actually have a book that has the history of my grandmothers family. They were some of the original pioneers that landed in Virginia. To read some of these stories - wow!! God bless you and your family. and good luck in the contest.

Posted by deb – April 28, 2008 7:45 AM

The green home on the beach is breath taking. We wondered how we could afford to retire. This would be it! Pray everyday and dream all night to win!

Posted by Carol Farmer – April 28, 2008 12:44 PM

Man, the more I look at the clip, the more I like the house. It would be a perfect house for me and my wife of 5 months. Also, we've been watching a lot of other saving tips on HGTV for the "go green" campaign. All of them are very doable, and we're trying our hardest to apply them in our everyday life. The only problem is that we live in a rental home right now, so there's a limit of what we can do. Imagine if we win, "GO GREEN" all the way! Save our Earth, save our money, right?

Posted by Jacob – April 28, 2008 2:39 PM

Hilton Head is a beautiful place. I would love to live in the 2008 Green Home. The colors in the home are so pretty. The paint I used this year had horrible odors for my home in Charleston, SC. I wish I had known about odorless paint.I spent 1 year painting the inside of my home with desert golds and greens, very good quality paint. I am so interested in the air purifier, etc. I have reverse osmosis now and my drinking water is good. Good drinking water is essential to life. If I win this home I will not sell it, I would love to live in it. I will pay the taxes to live in it.Where I live is very much like this home but not a green home except I have a lot of plants to clean the air. Plants take germs and disease from our homes.

Posted by Karen – April 28, 2008 8:48 PM

Green Home, Green Home, Green Home.

Posted by deb – April 30, 2008 7:35 AM

This green home is absolutely beautiful-it has such "Southern charm". Modern, yet it pays homage to the region and it's history.

Great job on the design and interior-definitely a showcase. Anyone would be proud to own a home like that!

I would still prefer the 'Green Home' over the dream home.

Posted by deb – May 2, 2008 7:31 AM

I kept looking at the Green Home thinking that it looked familiar, then one day I was looking through an old photo album, and when I turned the page, there it was...When I was a teenager, I fell in love with a house, I told my mom one day I would own a house just like that one, I took a picture of it when I was 19, the date, November 1997 is still posted on the back. It is the same color, style, has the same roof, same porch...talk about chills.I have been entering the dream home for the last 6 years hoping one day my dream would become a reality. Maybe the Green Home is my dream come true!

Living in Alaska I am always surrounded by beauty, but it is so far from home. No beauty compares with being able to make memories with your family. The Green Home would be an answer to our prayers. I love everything about it. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

Oh Oh I would love to win a home in Sanoma.
Driving distance to my daughter and I'd never be able to afford buying a house anywhere near her.
I hope I hope I hope

Posted by ER – May 4, 2008 5:45 PM

After watching the show over and over, I have a second thought about the location. It's mentioned that the house is in South Carolina. Anyhow, the location is not important anymore, it's the house that takes the main role. I mean look at all the high efficient appliances, ways to recycle, green products, and solar system! And of course, the color arrangement! It's fun, colorful, and cool. My wife is totally in love with it. She's always picturing a house with a rainbow color theme. I hope win this house. Comment to one of the bloggers: The master bedroom is on the main floor, a guest room and kids' room are upstair, so in case you win the house, you don't have to worry about your daughter. Best of luck to all of us!

Posted by Jacob Chappell – May 4, 2008 6:09 PM

Theresa, I believe it is mentioned somewhere. Check all the links for the months of Mar and Apr. I know that it is big enough, and a perfect retirement home.

Posted by deb – May 8, 2008 9:17 AM

Theresa Cole, I believe I read that it is almost 2000 sq.ft. Don't quote me though.
