I need help. I have an open sheetrock doorway (with no trim) between living room and kitchen. At this time, both rooms are painted taupe. I want to pain the kitchen gold but do not know how to pain the inside of the doorway to look right. you can see the inside from both rooms, of course. any ideas besides painting it white to match the baseboard and ceiling trim? Thanks.

The video didn't upload. However, I have a question. All my furniture is brown and beige, and I am about to buy a house with a black and white kitchen (white cabinets, black silestone countertops and stainless steel appliances). Kitchen is open to dining room and family room. What should I do? I appreciate you comments.

You are one of my favorite decorators. You're right up there and about to surpass, Candice Olsen, and she is another favorite. I'm having trouble deciding how what to paint our bedroom. The rest of the house is green and I love a grey/blue. I just don't want the house to look like a crayon box. The bedroom is also kinda small, but everyone wants their sanctuary to come home to. What do you think? And what about drapes I plan to hang on each side of the shades?

I wanted to know how to create the 3D artwork that Kim made on a "kitchen" remodel project.
The artwork looked like real pieces of cake and candy, and I missed the part of the show on how to make them, but I thought they were the coolest things. I can't seem to find it on her website, so I was wondering if I would be able to receive
any information on how to make these art pieces.
Thank you,
Dawn~

Kim, I just watched your show...Maxed Out Office and I have one thought to share with you, aside from telling you that I love your shows and I watched and rooted for you on your challenge for Design Star. I voted for you as often that I could.
My concern was from this episode where you re-did the loft area family area/office/live wall.
You put a large, square cushion right against the wall that was open to the stairway below. They have 2 small children and if I were them, I would never put something like that so close to a possible fatal attraction. If one of those little girls jump on that cushion, she could fall to her death. I know that you have creative, wonderful makeovers, so I was surprised that you did this. BJ

The video No More White would not load and I need help. I live in an apt. for the elderly. The walls and ceilings are all off-white and the carpet is tanish brown, and we are not allowed to paint. How can I brighten up my place on a limited budget?

I have plaster walls with small cracks running thru. What kind of painting technique should I use to hide these?

Aloha Kim,
Love your shows all the way from Maui, Hawaii. We are in the process of picking kitchen cabinets, if my cabinets are cherry wood in a medium dark brown color and the walls are an earth yellow, what is a good color for the counter tops and flooring in a small home which measures 22 x 66 ? Thank you so much...congratulations & best wishes! Love you, Miss Vicki *

Ever know what you want the end to look like, but have no idea how to get there??? I just moved into my new dream home, a New Orleans styled plantation house that I built. I have so many ideas of how I want the finished areas to look but I don't know where to begin!!!
I am not afraid of color in fact green (the color of my home's exterior) is my favorite color. I chosen my color scheme to be an olive green, rust, off white and black. I've woven those basic colors throughout my house. My downstairs walls are ember and my upstairs, a tropical green. Both are trimmed in white, now I stumped on what to do next in regards to decorating or bringing in the right furniture and accent pieces to keep the New Orleans style going. Help!!

HELP! In the house we bought 2 years ago the carpet was CHEAP and had to be replaced, as I do not really like a lot of carpet I just had a new medium honey oak floor put down in my Living room, Dinning room, foyer, and halls leading to the bedrooms. I had the blond kitchen floor refinished to match. I will be having a golden brown carpet laid on the open stairs and 2 landings to the basement. And I had a nice cork floor put in the basement. My problem is that ALL the woodwork and cabinets in the whole 4000 square foot house is blond oak. The kitchen cabinets and most of the trim in there has been pickled to a pinkish white with some of it left the blond and some painted the golden color of the walls. Eventually I want to paint ALL the woodwork white with the 2 fireplace mantles (in kitchen and living room) an oak to match the floors. My mother (who has alzheimer's) lives on the main floor and her furniture is what we are using for now. Her furniture is mostley a golden blond, with the couch and chairs being green, gold, and a pinkish mauve. The drapes in the Living room and Dinning room are a green. The wall color in the kitchen is golden with one accent wall being a reddish color. The wall color in the Living room, dinning room, foyer, and halls is an off white with a heavy golden tone to it.
All of the above explanation gets down to what color should I paint the walls for now, because I do not have the time, money, or energy to get all of the woodwork sanded, primed and painted at this time.

Hi Kim,
Just like Sheila Mace, who posted on Oct. 4, I live in an apt for the elderly and am on a limited budget. I don't think anyone should have to put up with greyish/greenish/yellow walls and
multicolored vinyl tiles. Staring at THOSE walls
could depress anyone. Got any ideas that I can
use to add color and personality to my studio?
You can do it if anyone can! You're GREAT!
