Need your expertise on what to do for a headboard on a bed, under an outside window.
Do you have any suggestions? I know that you are not suppose to place the bed under a window but this is the only other position in the room that the bed can be set and I can see the television set, beside looking over my husbands
head in the bed

I need help! I have four huge windows all together. My husband wont let me put up curtains, he likes to look outside, This isn't a bedroom but a livingroom. The room doesn't look together. I wont to put state blue in the room. What can I put above the windows without covering them to give height and a classy overall finished appearance?

TO DEBRA CUNNINGHAM: You might consider a valance over the top of the windows. Hang the rod as high as possible, while still allowing the valances to cover the top edge of the window. Depending on what the windows look out to, you could use blinds, panels at the out edge of the windows, sheers OR get your hubby a telescope and put him up on the roof.

To Mrs. Pat Smith: Regarding the headboard under the window......what style furniture is in the room. How big is the window and how big is the bed? These things make a difference.

Kim,
My home in San Diego was built in 1957, with the typical galley kitchen that L's at the end into the diningroom and then 90 degrees to the right into a rectangular livingroom that is approx. 15' x 15'. The end of the room has a great sliding door with a lovely view outside but the other three walls (no windows) create a dark box that does not lend itself to creativity in furniture placement. Same furniture, same positions, same boring dark room day after day... Is there a formula for placement of furniture, or choices of furniture pieces, that are more creative for an area that accomodates a large TV and the beloved recliner(Ugh)? What colors "open" a dark plaster box of a room?
You inspire me every time I watch your segments which I find fresh, fun and yet elegant...
