Hi Kim,
I have been watching your show for the last 6 months now. All of the HGTV designers are awesome!
It's been almost 6 months now since I've been looking for a condo in Orange County, California.
My time is running out! Me and my boy friend did not renew our apartment lease end of July because I am ready to move on. Our month to month rent for a one bedroom is $1,860.00 and Ouch! My broker can qualify me for a mortgage loan of up to $140,000. and a 20% down so that I don't have to pay for a mortgage insurance. It is all that I can afford as a file clerk with a net income of $715.00 every other week. My credit score is good(7.2)I have a very good credit history(I made sure of that)I am will grounded and decepline. I have been saving for almost 26 years so I can afford to make a down payment and closing cost and I know I can afford a monthly mortgare payment of not moore than $715.00. My realtor and I have seen over a 100 condo's and we went through a lot of frustration because of short sale and we are moving on to the bank owned properties which are very limited based on my budget! We have already made a second offer on a property in La Habra which I find it safe for me to live by my self and another one in the same complex. The one that we are offering right now has 2 bedroom/1 bath. Because our offer is way below it is a long shot? However, our fall back will be a
1bedroom/1bath. My broker told me that if the bank will accept my offer she can close the escrow within 21 days? At 52 years I want to have a home that I will be comfortable and safe for the rest of my life? This is where I really, really need your expertise and help. I am putting all what I have and what I got? The property need TLC?
Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim,
I watch your show every week and I have gained a lot of design confidence. One project I can't figure out is my foyer. It's very narrow about 7 feet with wide angled steps about five feet in from the door. The problem is the ceiling is 12 feet tall. I would like to use a console table with a lamp to provide lighting but I am afraid the table which would have to be small to fit the floor space will be dwarfed by the wall. Any suggestions?

Hi Anne,
Suggestion: Whatever console table you use, make sure that it is substantial in visual weight; "chunky" I call it, and place a vertical mirror with a thick wood frame above it. If you have room, ground the console with storage baskets underneath. Try placing a wooden chair next to the console to add extra visual weight.
Good luck!

HI Kim,
I like your style and appreciate your creativity.
I have moved into a new home in Scottsdale and have minimal furnishings and NO style.... I have no clue what to do with these huge windows and doors. I am so afraid of making a mistake with such a big purchase.... I would love to be able to create or find a style... then I would at least have some direction.... any chance you want to come to AZ!!! Room and board included!
Helpless and frightened,
Donna

Kim,
I have a very long hallway that leads from the garage to the greatroom, most visitors use this entrance. I really want to do something interesting with all this space, but can't come up with anything. Do you have any references to hallway decorating?

I have been watching your show, and the other segments and I dont like much of anytihng you all do. red and powder blue in the Craftsmen home,? Yuk!
telling people they can find remnant granite, marble etc, to use for countertops, or ceramic for flooring etc, and remodel several rooms for under $2K??? who are you kidding? its not possible in atalnta or dayton ohio. no one gives away or even sells cheaply these kinds of materials, not to mention your estimates of labor are way, way off. I have a SMALL KITCHEN, and the cheapest labor cost for laminate is $2500.00 - granite, over $4K, concrete, the same.

Hi Kim,
I have a bowling alley styled living with a fireplace in an angled corner, the only corner in the room. It is next to the patio door. I want a new couch and was wondering what type you might suggest. My living room and dining area are all in one. (I need help please)

Hi Kim:
Three months ago I moved into a 750sq ft house.
It was tricky getting moved in to a small house because I moved out of a 1900 sq ft house. I took some pcs, through alot away.
We moved into our 10x 12 Living with two recliners, one end table, one 6 ft couch and a big entainment center. After living with this for a while, I have tried to design a 10 ft wall that can accomadate a flat screen tv(this tv will hang on the wall.) The intertainment center holds odds and ends of things, I have old records in pine boxs, and old cassetts, and cd'd along that wall also. I just purchased a electric
stove, its kinda looks like a pellet stove but smaller. I would like to have a design that I could incorporate all those item on that particular wall maybe giving me a vocal point. I have considered built in shelving, maybe cubbord shelving under the open for storing my records, cassetts, and cds, along with the other things that I have displayed on that wall. But I would like to put that heating source on that wall also so everyone in the room can enjoy the stove. I am really quite traditional, but I have watched Hgtv and have liked alot of the design techniques your station provides, just don't know what to do with this wall. can you help

Hi Kim, I love your whimsy and style. I have a design dilemma in our master bedroom. It is 12x12...very little and I would like to place the bed on the furthest wall from the door so you see it when you walk in, but there is a window that will be blocked by my upholstered headboard. My question is, can I or should I drape the whole wall so I can place the bed where it naturally should go? Oh, my headboard is a white twill and I would like to paint the wall a deep grey-blue (just like my sons eyes) with punches of red. If I can drape the wall, what color? Thanks so much for all of your inspiring ideas and color choices. love them all!

I am in a dilemna. My husband and I have decided to try to contract our own home and as the rough in electric and plumbing are being done I am being pressured to make some big design decisions. My living area open and I am unsure when placing my tv/fireplace if I should center it on the wall between my kitchen cabinets and the window or if I should leave a walkway between the kitchen cabinets and then center it in the wall space that is left. If I leave a walkway I am worried my room will look unbalanced with more wall left open on one side of the tv/fireplace and less wall on the otherside. If I center it I am worried when I go to put furniture in there will not be room between the living room and the kitchen to walk through. Please help me I have no idea what to do and I know this decision will affect the look and feel of my whole home.
