My coach is fern green and my armchair is ivory.
I also have Chinese furniture in deep red with gold/olive drawings. My floors are honey colored wood laminates. What color should I paint my walls/ceiling?

Suzanne from San Jose, California. I want to put crown molding in my house to raise the eye level. Everywhere is 8 ft. but the dining/living room ceiling is open to the peak of the roof.
1) how do I position the molding on the high ceiling (only one wall)
2) Should the molding color be the same as the ceiling, walls or something lighter than both?

THANKS

I'd like to use a rust color and a light caramel in my ding room...there is molding that would separate the colors...My question is"Would having the molding and the ceiling another color (ie. white or creme) make this room to busy? Please Help!!! Also should the darker color go on the top or the bottom?

Suzanne, Regarding your crown moulding:
I work for a crown moulding company, Focal Point Architectural Products - I have a couple of photos mouldings used on a slanted ceiling (vaulted ceiling). In regards to your color choice, the choice is yours - although most paint mouldings a lighter color to make the architecture pop against the wall color.

check out www.focalpointproducts.com for more ideas and info on our Quick Clips easy-to-install mouldings.

Good luck with your project!

HELP! We recently purchased a 1920's farm house with LOTS of old moldings which we love but I'm not sure how to clean them so they glissen again short of stripping them. Any idea's??? Also, what to do with ceiling panels which I can't afford to replace right no. Any idea's on how to jazz them up?

Hi Kim
I have a house that was built in the 70's and a family room and bedroom were added to the house. The two rooms have paneling on the walls and the ceilings are made of big squares(don't know what there called, think of square puzzle pieces). Once upon a time the kitchen had paneling but I took that down. What I thought might be a small project ended up being a huge project and I don't want to deal with pulling the paneling off of the two rooms. In the family room you can see some of the brick, which use to be the outside of the house, with the different colors (red, black, some off white). The kitchen has a window over the sink that doesn't give much light and the family room only has the sliding door leading to the back yard. Taking the paneling off the kitchen walls made the room appear lighter but not enough. It just seems very dark in the two rooms. What colors should I consider painting the paneling to brighten up the two rooms? I want the two rooms to flow because you can see into each room from the other.
