Could you give suggestions on how to paint walls in a room using two colors. In this case it is a bedroom and I want to use blue and green. I am not into using stripes. I am also considering painting the ceiling a pale pink for a restful effect; feng shui.

HI KIM:
I HAVE PAINTED OUR MASTER BED ROOM IN A MED. BROWN (THE BROWN YOU WOULD SEE IN SANTA FE) THE TRIM IS ALL WHITE. I CHOSE THESE COLORS FROM A BEDSPREAD THAT HAS THIS AND OTHER COLORS, SUCH AS GOLD, WINE AND THE BROWN WITH A ROSE TINT IN IT, BUT FOR SOME REASON IT DOES NOT HAVE THE POP I WAS LOOKING FOR. THE STYLE IS SORT OF SOUTHWEST WITH SOME SCANDINAVIAN. THE CARPET IS A VERY LIGHT BIEGE WITH ROSE UNDERTONES. WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT COME TOGETHER?

I have vibrant(turquoise)peacock color dishes..with other mixtures of amber and color. My table setting is finished off with chocolate seating..I moved into a condo in which all of the walls are painted white. Since my dining/living area(s) are close to together, which color paints should I use. Especially for the kitchen.

Hope all is well. I need some color help. My hallway, living room and dining room all run into each other. The living room & dining room is basically one big open room. The three areas are painted the varying shades of green (one is called 'rope', another is a very light sage). They are so close that everyone thinks it the same color. The hallway wall run between the living room and dining room at the ceiling level.

I want to break up the color by adding some texture or a different color to the hallway. I need some suggestions. Please help.

Blessings to you,
Christine

I have an odd shaped living dining area. One end is 12' and the other is 15'x 23'. I have painted rustic red on the top half and really dark brown under the chair rail. This the wider half and where the table and chairs are. Across from the table is the picture window and I have dark brown leather chairs and a table. The door comes directly into the middle of the room. This wall is a old gold color and will go on around the smaller end. I love the colors but should I put
up a large mirror or 4 mirrors, door size to help get more light at the table with the darker colors or Paintings? I am going to make a padded cornice to go above my antique gold draperies. The fabri is red to match the walls and a very pale gold flowers with darker gold leaves. My rug is Brown and tan with thread of dark red and dark green. I questioning whether I'll be able to do the final staging correctly. Help please.

Kim..... really enjoy your show....I have question about color for my living / dining room combo - I have a butter yellow leather sofa that I truly love and 2 chairs - one navy leather and a high back blue plaid..... what would be the best color to use so that the sofa doesn't fade into the wall??? I am more relaxed, comfortable type of person. Right now I have the basic light tan - so the room is rather blah.... any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.... thanks.... susan

Love your show! I have a light walnut dining room table that has four upholstered chairs, red, blue, gold and olive green (I love color). My sofa is mauve micro suede with a mahogany base. I want to purchase two chairs for my living room, but I’m not sure what color they should be to bring these two rooms together. My table is contemporary – could I go with wicker or should they be upholstered as well?

Hi Kim! I've enjoyed watching your show and getting some great ideas. I plan on putting up crown moulding in our living room and dining room but have a question about ceiling color. Should the ceiling be the same color as the moulding? Maybe a shade lighter that the walls? I plan on painting the moulding a white and don't want the room to appear smaller. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If you want some great painting ideas, check out the color gallery at www.devinecolor.com. They have before and after photos that gave me a lot of ideas like painting my ceiling something besides white. Also, they have paint collections where the colors are designed to work together so you don't end up with clashing colors. I just painted my living room "Cactus" from their "Green" line. It looks awesome.

Kim - I love your show and ideas. My problem is regarding color choice where I would like advice in an area where the cabinets are a sable color, the counter top is santa cecilia granite the window treatments are cream colored and the sofa is a charcoal color. I like a soft and glamorous feeling, maybe using silver/green/blue color scheme.

Thank you for your time!

Kim, I think you're great. You help those of us on a limited budget see that we too can have style. You are so warm and approachable. We love your show. I'm glad you won and got your own show (we both voted for you). Here's hoping that your show will have a very long run! Best Wishes!!

Kim,from a fellow hairstlyist/skincare specialist/make up artist, I think your image is adorable. Your curls suit you personality perfectly. And as far as your clothes, maybe a little snug, but suits you. Just because your license is in cosmetology doesn't mean you can't design a room or anything else. How do people think you come up with your color pallettes? We do the same thing in the beauty industry. You are very talented and I love the show. Haven't missed a one. How do I go about getting you to design a room for me? I would be honored and so excited. I hope you go a long way. Sincerely, Sharon254

When you won did you think that you would only be doing homes for people living in the LA area. I mean you do wonderful work and I love watching your show, I just wish that you would come out to Oklahoma. Oh well, will continue to watch your show, and wish you many blessings.
