Hi Kim
Love your show. My living room has knotty pine paneling on every wall. I have four large windows in the room but the paneling makes me feel like I live in a cave. I have even ventured the idea of painting the paneling but I have been told that it is real knotty pine and I kind of think that would be a "sin". So what can I put on the walls to lighten the feel of the room. Right now I have some family photos and a few prints but I just can't get it right. What can I do? My budget is low and I do most of the projects myself. HELP!!

Dear Kim - I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your show. Your were my vote for the 2nd season design star and you have not let me down! Your rooms and creativity are incredible. I just watched an episode where you did a bedroom for a couple and it was so beautiful. I loved the alcove with the nail head studs and the sliding frosted glass door into the bathroom was the best - I'm sure the couple loved it. I'm so pleased to see you succeed - you're adorable to watch and so,so, so creative! Looking forward to seeing many more of your episodes.

I love your video blogs. So personal and full of great information! Please keep them coming =)

Oh.... and feel free to answer my question, too! How concerned should you be about the color palette in your entire home flowing and working well together? My husband and I just bought our first home and it has an open living, dining, kitchen area with 3 bedrooms and a downstairs family room. We have already purchased 2 bedding sets that are oatmeal, browns and blueish-teals. I want the color palette to flow, but don't want to be too "match-matchy" with everything. Probably sounds like a simple question! Thanks!

Kim, I have no idea how to get this message to hgtv. Can you help? None of the beautiful pools you have shown in all the houses across the country have safty fences. In Phoenix it is the law because it is so hard to keep one's eyes on babies! They crawl out doggie doors and just toddle in the pool while parents are distracted for seconds. Where are the safety fences?
Sincerely Marianne

This is the worst show on you programing schedule. I am a loyal customer and I just can't bring myself to watch this program.

Posted by Denise – July 3, 2008 8:36 PM

this is not the quality of hgtv that i expect.

I dont know who this will go to, but couldnt find a link to send comments to. I was a fan of Kim Myles thru the whole season, and called in to cast my vote about 20 times, and was so excited when she won. So whats up with her show? Its very "child-like", almost cartoony. Its all about silly stuff that I just dont see anyone benefiting from. HGTV and the STYLE network are the only 2 channels my TV is ever on. Now when I see her sshow on, I switch channels. I've definately seen enough.

Kim, I just want to let you know that I love you and your show! I am a fan of Design Star, and Myles of Style is just what I've been wanting on HGTV for a while. It is really hard to find actual design ideas and new ways to work rooms. I'm tired of seeing shows about selling houses. Other shows tell you what a room can look like after a very expensive trip to showrooms. We desperatly need your fresh perspective, fun personality, and willingness to show the process of the success. Thank you for the great show!

Posted by Tina – July 10, 2008 1:18 AM

My mother passed away in March at 93 and we are having to sell her house. As you come in the front door there is a large entrance way and you see straight ahead into the family room. You are facing east. It has dark paneling and the east wall is ceiling to floor book cases with a TV in the center. The north wall has sliding glass doors that go out to a screen porch with a window on each side of the doors. Because of the porch it doesn't get a lot of light. I would like to put a lighter carpet (it's dark mauve) and light covers on the two couches with colorfull pillows so that when you walk in, the room will just pop, ahead of you. What do you think?

Love your show and your personality. I have one gripe. You and all of your colleagues constantly refer to your clients as " You guys!" Usually it is a couple or family and not a bunch of males. Is there another word that we could use. What do you think? How about you two! You both etc. Wonder what the HGTV staff think? P.M. from California

On which show did you make a light with Christmas balls? I would love the instructions or would like to be able to watch that episode again but I can't remember which one it was.
I plan to make one for my den. I also do not know how to connect it over my recess lighting. Would love your suggestions. Thanks so much!! I love your shows!!

Hi Kim, love your show. I was all for you when you won the Design Star. You have such wonderful ideas. Keep up the good "designs".

I really enjoy your show. Stay positive. I love your personality.

Kim,

Sorry, but I really don't like your show and the rooms. Please quit using those horrific lamp shades on the ceilings. You make a great host, but really are lacking big time on the ideas and design skills...

Posted by Decorator46 – July 15, 2008 4:24 PM

This has got to be the worst HGTV show. Kim has no true ideas of her own. Her finished rooms are not quality like David Bronstad's finished rooms and her tv personality is amateurish. I watched this show only once and that was enough for me.

Hey Kim!

Just wanted you to know that I LOVE your show.
I think you are so very gifted and talented. I get so many great ideas from watching you on Myles of Style. I followed you on Design Star and was thrilled when you won!
Please keep up the good work and continue to bring us your wonderful talent and ideas.
You have a great personality and people love you.
You go girl!

Thanks Vickie

Hi. For me designing is hard, and I don't know how to put anything together. I have 2 small children and am in school and also a nurse. Not a big budget and decorating sense. Can this be made any easier?

Posted by Teresa Darity – July 19, 2008 3:12 PM

Hey Kim,
I love your show. I do not understand why others don't. I enjoy the show because the tools you use to decorate are ideas that I can actually do myself. It is very simple to take your creations and fit them to my home, thanks.
Here is my problem. My living/dining area is a sage and gold combination. I am having a difficult time choosing wall color and an accent color. Oh yeah, I have some dark cherry wood tones. I was thinking red accents or blue. What do you think? Love you show, Shayla

Posted by Shayla Williams – July 19, 2008 4:05 PM

My husband and I LOVE, Love your show. You have ideas that would really work in MY home and that WE could do without a lot of money. Colorful, artistic, and filled with lots of design tips to translate the idea to my house. Your show makes do-it-yourself truly realistic. I love that you are funky and fun and so very adorable to watch. You are positive and I like the way that you and Anthony work together. You deserved to win and we look forward to trying out some of your ideas. Keep up the good work!

Hi Kim,
I love your show..I especially loved the stained panel window treatment you did in the "natural bedroom" with the stone waterfall ect...could you please write a printout on how to do that? I think you said you used bees wax? there is an image of a bamboo tree (trunk of a tree?) I have googled ect trying to find instructions..and you are the only one that I have ever seen do this..It is fabulous..just like you...thanks

Hi, Kim. I love your show and i really loved the episode you designed with the family who wanted the Moroccan patio. Fab-U! I'm working on my teeny, tiny bathroom now and look to you for lighting ideas. What do you think about dimmer switches in the bathroom to control the mood?

Posted by Diane – July 26, 2008 10:38 PM

Hi Kim. Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy your show. On the nights when I can't watch it, I record it so that I don't miss any of your creative ideas. I am so sorry that I did not watch design star until this season. I would have loved to have seen you in the actual competition. Keep up the great work!!

Hi, I love your show and your STYLE!
I live in a basement apartment in Brooklyn NY and my living room is dark, facing the Well of the building. It always has the look of a cloudy gray day. I'm about to purchase a new sofa, possibly Brown (solid) what color do you suggest for my walls which are presently beige. FYI ceilings are very low and window is small.

Posted by COOKY MORALES – July 29, 2008 1:47 AM

This is a response to some other peoples comments about the show.

I'm sorry you don't enjoy Myles of Style but... what's wrong with you?! I've absolutely love Kim's rooms every time I watch the show. I think her transformations are amazing and she gives me plenty of good ideas and inspiration. I see nothing that is unprofessional. Nothing!

Kim, keep doing what you do just the way you do it! One show can't please everyone who watches. YOUR DESIGNS ROCK (especially your lamp shades)!!!

Your fan,
Kim from Toledo, Ohio

Hi Kim, i need your help. i am havig soo many problems designing my livingroom and making it brighter and making it feel warm. i have a big room that has my dinning and livingroom with 12 feet tall ceilings, anything i put up against the wall feels lost and so small, but yet i dont want to clutter my floor space with huge pieces. I need help and wish that you would come and help me design my living room. Not only is that my problem but i dont know how to light up the room, i have a chandelier over my dinning table that i hate and the other side of the room is soo dark and i have put about 3 lamps on that side of the room but it looks so stupid. i am at a loss, and i have spent so much money trying and i keep failing. HELP!

Kim is very innovative. She has great ideas and is not run of the mill. Her personality is great and her carpenter not only is talented but is a hunk! Now, tell me why are some people so mean spirited. If YOU do not like her show don't watch it. Why say 'cancel' it? I gues some people are just very narrow. Keep up the good work Ms. Kim!!

Hi Kim, I absolutely love your show!!
Your designs are so creative, beautiful and easy to duplicate on a budget. I didn't watch Design Star but have been a fan since your first show on HGTV. I love the project where you created a wall covering with ribbon and an artist frame. I don't remember which show it was featured on, but could you please let me know or give me directions on how to make it. I love you and your bubbly personality.

Posted by Pearl – July 31, 2008 4:21 PM

I think by far this is the worst design show on HG tv. She is a good host, but over does everything. Kim does nothing but add clutter and horrible colors to her designs. She may be a designer, but not for homes. I still watch all the design shows, but with hers I watch to see just how wild she will go with her design. You can tell by the look on the homeowners faces most of the time they are speechless and very usure of what to say.

Hi Kim,

I love your show I was one of your fans at the time of the competition. Anyway I have formal dining room that is joined with my living room. I am dedicating the both room to my mom who passed away 3 years ago. The colors are a red and white but the red is not a true red it is more like a merlot color. My walls are almond and I wanted to know if I should paint the walls or just get it almond and add ods and ends to meet the color I want. Such as pillows and throws rug. Actually I'm lost I really need help.

Hello kim,
First let mesay that I love how you put things together. I have a big problem with my small room. I like earth tone colors and I painted my room yellow with a wall that is orange-yellow.I love the yellow but need to change the orange to a relaxing, comfortable, bright spa type bedroom. My space is so small that it is a box. I have a twin sized daybed against the wall and need a dresser for clothes, and that not it. I also need space to put my nic nac stuff, books,tv,etc. Help me figure out what to do email me a pictures of small rooms with life in it. Thanks for listening.

Kim I did vote for you and watch your show. I have a couple of new ideas from you. I have no idea why people have to be mean to you. There are several shows I don't watch, so what? Different shows for different folks. RITA: I saw a room with all wood once that was stunning. The designer used shades of blues and greens and purples in furniture and accesories. It was not woodsy or cave like but very stylish yet comfy.

Whats up Kim!
Since I was like 5 I've been obsessed with design and recently completed my class in interior design. But what I absolutely love about your show and you as the designer, is how you bring back the Art of designing! Your designs are all so beautiful and unique, you've become a designer I actually look up to!
Thankyou!

Hi, Kim. I've recently become a fan of your show. I love the way you design for those of us on a budget. Keep up the good work and ignore the nay sayers. Do you have any ideas about stone fireplaces. My stonework is beautiful but it kind of overwhelms a 14 x 16 living room. Help

Posted by sylvia – August 9, 2008 5:51 PM

hi kim, i love your ideas, ignore the negativity, could you send me instructions on the paper clip lamp that you made. thanks

Posted by cody – August 15, 2008 1:24 AM

Hi Kim, just wanted to say that I am happy that you won and have your show. I am a fan and some things I have liked and some are not for me but I don't think that makes you a bad designer or that it is a bad design. I do hate the negative remarks and yes you should ignore them. I take from you and your show what works for me. I hope the ratings for your show give you the proof you need that you are a deserved winner.

Posted by Mel – August 15, 2008 4:10 PM

Hope the folks at HGTV read these blogs and surmise that Kim Myles does fill a niche the other shows can't touch. I am not a fan of the other "budget friendly" shows because I don't believe you can create an elegant room for $500.00 to $1000.00 yet I am not advocating cancellation! Your show is great because you have ideas that save a few dollars here or there WITHOUT sacrificing elegance, warmth or whatever look you are creating. Keep up the fantastic work and Anthony....mmuuuuuahhhhhh!!!!

Posted by Sweetah – August 16, 2008 1:22 PM

Hello, I love HGTV and your show is one of my favs so keep up the good work!!!!!Myles of Styles

Posted by heide – August 20, 2008 4:52 PM

I love your show and think you are the best designer of all the shows. You work wonders with color. I think there are some haters but that will always be. The other shows are good but the designers seem to beg the people to rave of their design. Your show really lets the viewer know that no matter what the room looks like with the right ideas it can look different and very nice. Keep up the good work.
