Kim,
My husband & I were rooting for you from the first episode of Design Star & were thrilled when you won. Can't wait to see your new show!
I was thinking of a pressed tin backsplash for my kitchen but your tip on the mirrors was great, especially since our kitchen is a little dark. Thanks!

I am so excited about your show! Can't wait to see your ideas. I have loved every design of yours I have seen! Good luck with the show! Or should I say, Break a leg!;)

I just wanted to say that the blue & brown rug in your commercial is my inspiration for my office makeover. Now I just need to find some fabric that has that kind of style. I can't wait for your show as I can tell you will give viewers great ideas that may just be practical for the less-skilled folks out here!! :)

I'm so exited for you, cant wait to see the show. I hope you have a great time and enjoy your show! Come visit me sometime, like you'll have all this time right :) Take care, Kimberly

I was so glad that you won, my first thought was finally they chose the real talent!!! I rent an old craftsman style house, love the windows but too drafty, the house has not been kept up unfortunately feels like it will crumble to the ground any minute. anyway the bedrooms are covered in awful wood paneling and the rooms are very small. I asked if I could paint but they said no! I will only be here a short time but what can i do to make this feel like a place I want to sleep in? I have a neutral color on the bed (that fills the room).

Thanks.

I have a bi-level home. Every thing is open. My question is where do you stop and start painting and is it to bold to go with mocha with a musbroom colored couch

Posted by Barbara – March 7, 2008 9:46 PM

Hi Kim, So happy you won and that your show is starting soon. Your show is going to be great for us DIYers and I feel it will have loads of doable and affordable decorating projects/ideas. Can't wait to be inspired. I'm a very handy recent retiree and own a manufactured home in a senior community. There are so many of us out there watching HGTV and it seems like the station forgets we exist. If you can, please include ideas for patios, porches and gardens occasionally. Wish you great success with the show and in everything you do. Verna

So happy for you. I also watched all of the programs and was rooting for you all of the way. My, you are certainly talented. Fantastic.
I am in a senior park with park models(about 500sq.ft) and RV's. All "small" ideas are welcome. Thank you, for you, all of the people connected to you and the show. walk in peace.kay

Hi Kim,
I'm a devoted fan of HGTV. I was so happy for you when they announced you as the winner. I rooted for you. I have a Tudor style home with a living room problem. The room is 11x18 long rectangle shaped box, that is hard to find the correct design flow for placement of my furniture pieces. My preference seem to lean towards an Asian eclectic style. My sofa is mocha suede and my wall color is cream with yellow undertones.

Posted by Kim Shows-Miller – March 10, 2008 10:07 PM

Hi Kim, I have been patiently waiting for your show to air. Just recently downsized from a 2700 sq ft home to a barely 700 sq ft apartment. To say I need ideas is putting it mildly. Best wishes to you in your new journey.

Posted by Judy Humphrey – March 11, 2008 12:36 PM

HOw do you sign around a room with a sitting area. I have moved my bed at least 10 times the room is a large square with a rectangle bump out as a sitting room

Posted by Dion Spencer – March 12, 2008 12:20 AM

My husband and I are going to try and tackle a painting job this year, and have a celery color picked out for the walls in the living room of our 950 sq ft apartment. Problem is that we are both on disabilty and only get a limited income per month. Trying to figure what color to have the drapes against the celery walls. I have a dark celery silk drapes now, but green on green will just blend everything and wash out everything. My husband loves purple, and was thinking on some shade of purple in the drapes or a purple and red/berry print. Would that look ok?

Thank you,
Donna & Paul

Posted by Donna – March 12, 2008 5:16 AM

Kim - I love color (royal purple, cherry red & cobalt blue. I also love the neon green (for want of a better name). I would love to see a living room done in these colors (w/wo the green). I am (according to my grandchildren) an artist. Am currently minding on a Victorian design for a pig in pastels. To my mind a female president/artist could change the world just by putting colors where there are none & turning the USA into one giant garden. I guess even a man could do that but women are more creative & courageous. But I do love David & I am glad you are getting your big chance, too. GOOD LUCK

We just move from a 1900 sf house to a 4000 one and I wouldn't ask anyone else for ideas for decorating my house. I am so lost, dont know where to begin, I can't wait to see you in the show and hear your ideas

Kim,
I want to do my bedroom in brown & blue (brown walls) is this a smart idea? I dont want to have to redo my bedroom in a year!

Kim: Excited for your show. Especially decorating with nothing. My daughter and her husband have 5 children + 1 godchild living in their home and they really have nothing. Never had a dresser or headboard or even a new bed. I gave them my bed when I moved. So how could they get a lovely, relaxing and organized room for little to no money? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and the best of luck -- you're a great designer and I look forward to you and your show.

Congratulations on being HGTV's Design Star. I enjoyed your bubbly personality during the competition and am looking forward to your show.

Most of the furniture in my home is inherited--from my mother, my husband's mother, his grandmother, a dear friend. Well, you get the picture. I treasure these pieces, but needless to say, I have a great mishmash of styles. I desperately need help in blending them so they are esthetically pleasing. I want my home to look and feel like a home, not like a used furniture store. Help!

Posted by Joyce Morris – March 12, 2008 4:25 PM

I think we goofed. I bought a new brown leather custom sectional couch that seats 7. I think it's too big for my room and now the room looks like my mothers in the 1970's. We were trying to increase the seating in the room and now the couch seems to over power it. I wish I would of had a room guide to follow that showed windows, entrance ways and fire places.
Is there such a thing as a room guide?
If we wouldn't of spent so much money on it, I'd just start over.

Kim Congradulations on your new show. I have been waiting months for you to come on HGTV with your great ideas like you showed when on Design Star. Belated congrats and an am eager to see your show. Have NO doubts about your talent and ability to produce great results. One tiny request, though....? Could you please try to include in your presenting dialogue, each show, the very basic room dimensions? We are watching on relatively small screens (as room sizes go) and it is often difficult for a viewer to translate what you have accomplished into a very differently sized room. And it would be really great if you could include homes on the east coast also. We all recognize budget and time issues - but sometimes we feel a little left out on the chances of being 'chosen' for a "re-do." Again - Good luck - Know you'll be great!

Rock On Kim!!! As an early fan of yours, I'm thrilled & excited to watch your new show. I know it'll be simply fabulous -- just like you & your decorating skills!

Kim - I am so excited for you and can't wait to see your show...your line.."No budget,no problem"....says it all (thank God someone understands!!!) I KNEW you would win the Design Star competition right from the 1st week.
ANYWAY - What can I do to make my ceilings look taller and less like a vast wasteland - my downstairs is all open now, and the ceilings are only 8' high, but there is approximately 1000 SF of floor space - there just seems to be soooooo much ceiling! I know about hanging the curtains higher, but I need help...any ideas?
I KNOW you will come up with something awesome.

Kim, I'm so excited your show will be starting soon! I watched (and voted for you) each episode of Design Star and prayed you'd win.

We are in desperate need of more lighting in our living room, but don't care for the idea of adding more table lamps. Are canned/recessed lights still a good option? How difficult are they to install?

Good luck on your show, but then I know you'll be great!

Posted by Daneylle – March 12, 2008 5:56 PM

OK. This has bothered me as a consumer and home owner for awhile. When watching shows where furniture, curtains, etc. are reused, the designers often say that a piece has been "repurposed" when in fact, it was only reused. For example, I have heard that a coffee that was repainted and then used again as a coffee table was repurposed. I have heard that curtains that were lengthened and reused as curtains were repurposed. A shelf that was redesigned or renovated and reused as a shelf is NOT repurposed. If you turned that shelf into a dining room table, then it was repurposed. Please stop misusing your designer vocabulary. I can't take designers seriously when they don't know the difference between renovate and repurpose.

I rooted and voted for you like so many others. You seem to have a practicality about what you do, and you listened to people and what they wanted. That is the most important. Design can be beautiful, but if it isn't "you" it doesn't fit. I am sure you will enjoy great success.
I am anxiously awaiting your new show. I too have a design problem. I have a kelly green carpet in our bedroom. Dark woodwork, and dark furniture. I need to know what color I can paint my walls.

Hi Kim,

During the finals of Design Star, I was thinking of a show title for you. I came up with "Sophisticated Style" with Kim Myles. I was a little dissapointed when I finally saw the name of your show "Myles of Stlye." It's a little "corny" but cute. Anyway, I'm still excited to see your show because I think you have a great eye! All the Best!

Hi Kim, you awesome woman and the best winner. We recently bought a small beach cottage with a loft style bedroom. There is room for two dbl beds on one end and a sofa/hangout area on the other. The room is 30'long. I am seeking something other than folding screens to use as a petition at the foot of the beds for privacy and to maximize the use of this room for summer guests......good luck!!!The DVR is set!!!
Thanks, Linda

Hi Kim,
A lot of success in your show. Hope I can see all the episodes. My concern is about plants inside the living and kitchen room. Don't know what to do with them when winter comes. I love the plants but it is hard to keep them inside the house healthy. They are beautiful outside, but come to inside some of them died. Any suggestion?

Help, me I am a disabled 52 year old woman, who always did every bit a decor in my home. I am from a 10 room home to a three room closet, it is tiny. I can not stand it. Not closet space, no power to cut and put up shelves. My sons are capable, but do not help a bit. Sad to say, I barely see them, unless I am critical.
I had 3/4 of my Pancreas out last year just a year ago. This means, no energy, no lifting, no painting over my head.
So much, the outside is maintance free, but the inside, is a night mare. I cannot afford much believe me, this has drained life. So, I am asking for ways to ad-lib and fix what I can cosmetically. With colors, drapes, rods, hooks, and hide. It needs Ti from make overs, but someone needs him more than I do.
Just some ideas.

I was wondering what else you recommend in the way of back splashes that is economical- besides mirrors. Knowing my kids, they may throw something and they'd be broken (I have small toddlers and preschoolers). Tile can be a little pricey. Any suggestions?

I have a 46" plasma TV on a nice stand in a corner of my family room (must stay). I need advice on how to decorate the wall behind it. The TV is rectangular, so are pictures, etc. bothersome to the eye. Please help I want to make this a nice focal point in room as furniture faces it. Hi Kim! I'm excited about your show - can hardly wait until Sunday. I'm sure I'm in for a treat.

Here's my problem - I have difficulty selecting the right color - in fact, I have trouble selecting any color. Until last summer every room in my house was a pale shade of grey. I recently painted the kitchen in my 1953 Craftsman Style (I think) house a wonderful shade of yellow. Prior to the nice yellow, I painted the kitchen Big Bird yellow (it looked nice in the store). In the very near future I would like to update my basement family room. One side of the room is knotted pine that my husband loves and refuse to paint over. The other side of the room is painted (over old paneling) white. I need a nice color for that dungeon family room. What would you suggest?

KIM! I am so glad your show is starting soon, I have been waiting for quite some time. I love your artistic view, your style and your attitude! Bless you and your family!

Hi Kim,
As a fan of HGTV, I have a design or better yet a functional question. It's my small laundry room, I know this sounds crazy but there is a design flaw!!! It's the doorway to the garage and has a door into the kitchen with a counter/sink behind the kitchen door. The problem is that the washer/dryer is in the way of the garage door and their are cabinets that cannot be used/reached, on the other side (maybe its my height) but really I can't use them. Do you have any thoughts?

Kim, I've been waiting for your show! Good luck!!

Posted by kathy – March 13, 2008 3:16 PM

Hi Kim!

My husband I are are renovating our basement into a family room space. I was wondering if you had any ceiling ideas as the ceiling is just rafters and pipes and I want to make it look like finished extension of the house on a budget (ceiling tiles are a budget buster for as many as we would need)? I also would like some carpet solutions as we have a 24 by 26 area to carpet but would like to remain budget conscious? I love that you have now got your own show to share your talents to the world. Congratulations.

I need to know if I should stay home on Sunday and wait for the Dream House Crew????????????

Posted by elizabeth soule – March 13, 2008 4:13 PM

Love Design Star & am happy for David's success. We all know you'll be practical, fun & helpful.
I love the Romantic look, especially in bedrooms. Would love to see more lace, pink, roses, etc on decorating shows. I realize I'm in the minority, but I do know of several people who love the look. Also, some touches of Victorian - (not the haunted house stuff) Wishing you years of happy HGTV shows. judy

Hi Kim,
Congrats on your new show! I would like to paint my bedroom a pale gold with a burgandy accent wall(14ft.). My drapes and bedding are a rich gold and I have a burgandy valence trimmed in gold. The floor is wheat ,the ceiling is white and the furniture is dark brown. I am not opposed to accessorizing with burgandy and painting the walls gold.
Thanks ,

Hi Kim. Loved your show. I have a problem. My home has old paneling. How can I update it? There is too much of it to fill in all the lines and I am on a very tight budget. HELP!

Posted by Kathy – March 19, 2008 4:24 PM

Hello Kim,
How do I get a response to my decorating problem? Is there a place where you post answers to our questions? Thank you,

Mary

Posted by mary holiday- Houston Texas – March 20, 2008 2:42 AM

Kim I put vinyl peel and stick on my backsplash. It does not stick well at that angle. It started coming down after a few days. I glued it with rubber cement and it fell again.
In determination to get it to stay and not to spend more money I used liquid nails and it has stayed. Looks great also. My backsplash does not get wet or dirty, really. I think it will be fine.
I was gluing to paneling that had been painted wallpapered, etc. I did sand it before hand and it only helped in some areas. I hope this helps someone if they decide to do it.

Posted by Patty – March 31, 2008 9:25 AM

Yeah Kim so glad you WON!!!!!!

I have a simple problem but want to save money on common mistakes. I have a navy blue sectional in my family room. I have hard wood floors through out family room and kitchen. Both rooms are visible of each other. The only thing that seperates the room is a half wall. I made my curtains for the family room french doors(that extends to the Sun Room)(14X14). They are full lenghth drapes to the floor and the design is toile (Black and white). My kitchen area has bay windows with a door in the middle. Toile curtains match the one in the family room. My appliances are black front and eventually will install a new gas cooktop along with a new black oven with stainless trim. What colors can I use for accessories and for area carpet, and walls. I love the new apple or lime green. Can you help me break it down to where and what should I buy in these colors? What other colors should I use? What type of coffee table should I get for the family room and I need to replace my round kitchen table in my kitchen area. My area that I'm working with has stained wood beams and trim with honey oak kitchen cabinets. I also do not have a pantry. Any recommondations on where to store food and toilet paper etc. Help me I desperately need help to my 21 year old beautiful timeless house. I hope that my problem can help others who have homes stuck in the 80's.
Thank-you! Linda April 13th.

Yeah Kim, I'm so happy for your success! You deserve being the winner. You are so very talented and willing to share great ideas with us common people. I need to know what kind of colors to use that would look great with a dark navy blue Hancock and Moore sectional? This sectional is in my family room. I am also currently looking for a big coffee table. What color pillows and how many and where do I place them? Rug-what color? I would need a 8x12. I also have a sunroom that you can enter from the den. I made black and white toile full length curtains that balloon onto the hard wood floors. These curtains adorn the french doors. I have a half wall that seperates the family room from my kitchen area. I also have a round table with black leather swival chairs. I would like to replace the 20 year old table and replace it with what? I also have a bay window area and made the same curtains I made for the French doors. In the center of the two bay windows is the door that leads to my deck. My kitchen cabinets are honey oak and so are the ceiling beans and trim. I would like to use complentary colors and cookware. Any suggestions? I like lime green and yellow w/a touch of orange. But what items do I get in these colors? My stove, refrig,dish-washer, stove-top and oven are all primary black and future oven and gas-stove will be trimmed out in stainless. I have hard-wood flooring and the color is honey oak through out the downstairs. Help me please. I'm almost getting my 21 year old house out of the 80's. I'm sure there are a alot of people with my problem. Again, please, please help me from making mistakes. I trust your advice. I loved everything you did before you won your own show. I'll be watching and taping the show. Good-luck to you. You deserve it! Linda

Kim, We watched your show it was wonderful. Could you tell me if there is a way to take a 5 piece sectional and make it into a loveseat and couch. We bought a new 5 piece sectional and then moved to a house that needs a loveseat and couch. Is there a way to make the end of the short section not look strange since it will not have an arm on one end.

Thanks again,my husband and I loved the show.
