Hi Kim,
I am decorating a family room with buff colored walls. I would love to have a painted accent wall behind the sofa. The furniture is dark wood and all the accent colors are warm hues. Other than red, what would be go good color for this wall.

Hi Kim,
How would you combine two cultures (Chinese & Mexican)in the design of a living room/library?
Our area rug is very "old mexico" with deep browns, gold, reds and creams. We would like to keep it in the room.

My master bedroom is to small. How can you keep a small clean and look larger. My husband decided he wanted a king size bed in our room. So now our room look smaller. Should I get reid of the king size bed or is there anyway I can rearrange the room to look larger. It's a odd layout in the room and I only found one place for the bed. Is it good to put your bed in front of a window?

I live in an older farm house that was updated probably in the 80's. I love country style and that is the theme throughout my house. I have a large space that is open from living room to dinning room/kitchen in the shape of a three sided rectangle "[__]" The living room flowing into the dinning room share the same wall and is the long part of the rectangle. The left side of the rectangle is the kitchen wall that I want to paint with an accent color. That wall has lots of windows and light with a view out over the valley of farm land. I was thinking some color of red for accent and the other walls a soft yellow/gold? But the problem is the dated counter tops are in perfect condition but they are the old famica and blue. Will red/gold colors make the blue countertops pop out more? I cant really afford new counter tops at this time and would like to draw attention away from the blue countertop. The Kitchen & dinning room are divided by a counter designed like a LARGE island in the middle of the kitchen/dinning rm. This is where the blue famica countertop is and it is pretty wide. Beautiful oak cabinets hang from the ceiling above the island (with stainless steel double sinks) leaving about 4ft space between the island and overhanging cabinets so you can see through to the dinning room when cooking. . The cabinets are accesable from both sides. (Kitchen and dinning room) The cabinets are a beautiful oak color as is all the wood work in the house. We are going to replace the carpet but don't have a color picked out as yet. My furniture is all antiques and I have an oak dinning room table that sits eight. I have collected antiques over the years and will be displaying them throughout the house and on the walls. I have two antique high back wing chairs, one is a dusty solid blue color and the other a solid dusty rose/pink color. They sound horrible but are actually very pretty. I don't want to recover the chairs but somehow need to work them into a color pallet. I am going to buy a new couch but have not picked that out either. Any suggestions on colors for carpet & couch as well? What a challange! I know it is hard for you to picture but if you can give me some color ideas to work with I can go from there.
Thanks
LaDonna

Hey Kim,
Love your show, you're so creative. On one of your commercials you show a brown and turquoise blue rug sample. Could you please tell me who it's made by and where I could veiw/buy it?
Thanks so much. Have a nice day!!

Hi Kim,
I am so excited to see your show. I followed you though the entire program and was so glad when you won. Yes I voted for you.
I have a problem and really need help. I am about to give my kitchen a facelift. I really can't afford to spend over 13000.00 to get it done. I have gone to Lowes and come home confused and not much accomplished. I really don't know where to begin. I want to reface my cabinets, get new flooring, countertops and sink, but can't seem to find someone in the stores who are interested in suggesting ideas. Hope you have a solution of where do I begin. I am feeling overwhelmed and may just forget it.
Hope you can point me in the right direction of where do I begin.
Thanks so much

Kim-
I loved watching you and the other contestants on Design Star! It was awesome seeing each one of you develope more into your own design style and creativity. Congratulations on your win and new show.
My question is what to do with a wall that has a vaulted ceiling. Our flat screen TV hangs in the middle of the wall. The area is sort of cut out by a short wall extending into the living space on either side. It would be great for a built in, but the furniture we already have is great and we had no other choice but to place it there. We have 2 corner pieces which can be put together as one half circle cabinet that has glass for display. Under the TV is a buffet cabinet holding our electronics. I just don't know what decorations would look nice above all of that. Our wall color is "sauteed mushroom" in the Olympic paint, kind of a dark cappuccino color. The corner pieces are mahogony, the buffet is a stained weathered medium green color. I thought about hanging simple votives in an arrangement, but would be unable to light the candles because of everything in the way. I don't want anything contemporary. Our style is "Eclectic Traditional".
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I really want to decorate a low budget, but great room for my two older boys. The main problem is that the sports teams that they have chosen for comforters is in two different colors. One is blue and the other is Celtics green. What color should I paint their wall?

I want to decorate my living room in the Hollywood glamoour stayle. I live in a rental apartment so I can't paint the walls. So far, I have purchased one round mirrored side table and a square mirrored side table. I plan to purchase a white leather sectional, but I don't know whether this look would work better with pastel accents. I also have a large print of a close-up shot of a red rose on a black frame, several vases in red. The other funiture in the room is a dark wood entertainment center. I plan to purchase a coffee table and use white sheers on the window and patio door. What do you suggest for the coffee table? I don't like a lot of clutter and I don't have any children or grandchildren to consider. Thanks for your help.

HI KIM,
I AM SO PLEASED WITH YOUR SHOW. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME ARRANGING MY FAMILY ROOM. I HAVE A HUGE FLOOR MIRROR ON THE WIDEST WALL OF THE ROOM BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE I SHOULD COMPLIMENT IT WITH. THE MIRROR BY ITSELF LOOKS A BIT LOST. I NEED IDEAS ANY WHO BETTER THAN YOU TO ASK FOR HELP.

Hi Kim,
I have a quick question. On all the hgtv programs when decorating or refurbishing when painting, why do all the hosts choose the paint roller to paint the inside of homes rather than using an electric sprayer? Wouldn't it be faster than rolling by hand?

Kim,
I watched EVERY episode of design star season 2, and loved your style from the very beginning. I've been waiting patiently for your show and of course I love it!! I have a huge problem in my dining and kitchen area, especially my dining room. (They adjoin eachother) I love bright colors; reds, blues, yellows, and have invested alot of money in beautiful dishes that I love. They incorporate all the colors of the rainbow. I've been in a quandry over how to incorporate these colors in my rooms without it seeming like I'm decorating for a child. I've taken the design taste test and it says that my style is sophisticated/traditional eclectic. WOW!!
I really need your help.
Thanks so much,
Michelle

Hi Kim.
How do I use ceiling to floor draperies when I have baseboard heaters (hot water) under every window? I feel like it would be a fire hazard. Thanks for your help.

Hi Kim! Congratulations! I too voted for you and am so happy that you won. Your first show (here on the west coast at least) was fantastic! Keep up the great work. Here's my dilemma. My south facing wall is almost completely made of glass and faces the pacific ocean...literally. The paint color on my living room walls was supposed to be the color of damp sand, but looks (admittedly so) more like the color of peanut butter when the sun hits it. I need your expertise here. I need a paint color that doesn't compete with the ocean and doesn't close in my living room that also has dark wood beamed ceilings. I have an large, beautiful, unobstructed view of the pacific ocean, magnificent sunsets and sunrises; the only other colors around me are green and brown in the tree tops and trunks. I have off-white colored Berber carpet and don't really want to change that. Would you please give me your expert advice on a paint color? Thank you so very much!!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR SHOW!!!
