Bean Pod

Posted by etipton – August 22, 2008 12:15 PM

The Pod is not a tripod, but a bean bag that allows for stability. It is ideal when you can't use a tripod but still want sharp pictures. The pod can be set-up virtually anywhere. Whether on the road or at home, just connect your camera to the universal locking bolt and you're ready to shoot. The Pod's compact design gives customized support for a variety of surfaces and angles. The Pod is priced less than $15.

That's not my bag, baby.

Posted by etipton – July 26, 2008 9:47 AM

While I am not an international man of mystery, I do get to the big city from time to time. Last week we were in New York City. I tend to limit my purchasing in New York less by the cost and more by the fact that I have to carry it around all day. As always, I packed too much, and had no extra room to lug stuff home. I needed one of these Pack Flat Back Up Bags. They fold flat to fit in your suitcase, and when needed, become a carry-on size bag. Pure genius. The Pack Flat Back Up Bags are priced under $25.

Ride 'em Cowboy!

Posted by etipton – July 16, 2008 6:38 AM

If you are traveling with small children this summer, I feel your pain. In the past year, we have yet to have any of our flights not have delays. This is bad enough as an adult, but if you are traveling with a small child, it makes everything more frustrating. Make traveling with tots a bit easier with the Trunki Ride-on Suitcase. Yes, I did say ride-on. The Trunki Rolling Suitcase, suitable for children ages three to six, is an airline-approved carry-on bag. It is great for storing travel essentials, snacks, games and spare clothes, but more importantly your child can ride on the suitcase. This is great to help eliminate airport boredom during those long delays, and can save your back when the child decides not to walk anymore. It includes a multipurpose strap that can be used to pull riders or used as shoulder strap for parents to carry the bag. The Trunki Ride-On Suitcase is priced around $40, and available in pink or blue.

Scrub-a-dub-dub.

Posted by etipton – February 26, 2008 12:50 PM

The second item in your urban survival kit is travel cloths. They come in the form of a tablet and actually convert into a durable cleaning cloth with just a splash of water. Packaged in an aspirin-type tray, this set of 8 cloth tablets stays dry until you push them through the foil protector. Since each cloth is individually wrapped and protected, they stay sanitary and clean until you need to use them. The cloths unroll and take shape with a very little amount of water and are thick enough to clean without easily tearing.Priced less than $5.

The third, but not entirely necessary, item is a package of lotion towels. They offer a neat way to transport moisturizer without it taking up valuable space or leaking in your bags. Lush, spa-quality moisturizer in a non-greasy formula comes cleverly packaged in individual towelettes. Each towelette is one all-over body application. No leaks, no mess, super lightweight, and perfect for travel. Five individually packaged towelettes per order. Priced less than $10.

Unexpected layover

Posted by etipton – February 26, 2008 12:50 PM

In the current traveling environment, when you leave for the airport you are never sure when you will arrive at your destination. Make any overnight airport adventure a little less miserable with a few key items. The first is shampoo sheets. The kit includes 50 sheets of non-liquid portable paper shampoo. It is TSA carry-on compliant and not subject to the TSA's 3-1-1 rules. You just add water and the sheet dissolves instantly. The shampoo is biodegradable. There are also paper shaving cream sheets and paper body wash sheets. Priced around $5.

Unnecessary Roughness

Posted by etipton – September 5, 2007 8:05 PM

Avoid the unnecessary roughness of dragging out a bunch of chairs (or standing all day) with this instant bench. The bench features a heavy-duty steel frame, and it holds up to 250 lbs. per seat. When folded up, the bench is compact, lightweight and portable. The included carry-bag has adjustable shoulder strap and reinforced bottom. The bench offers a quick, easy set-up with no assembly required. I always love to hear of an item that has an easy set-up. That usually means I can get set up sometime before kick-off. The bench with seating for six is priced around $100, while the three-seater is priced around $65.

Forward pass.

Posted by etipton – September 5, 2007 4:05 PM

Food is the best part of tailgating, and nothing beats the taste of grilled food. We have eaten grilled pork, chicken, burgers, hot dogs and seafood depending on who we are playing. Most have been grilled on a small hibachi grill, or come from a store ready to eat. Do not pass on this grill. It is even shaped like a football, so your friends will get a real kick out of it. The unique design makes this BBQ grill easy to transport while at the same time minimizing spilling any ash. Charcoal not included. Priced less than $70.

Weight a minute.

Posted by etipton – June 12, 2007 7:29 AM

I was at the airport the other day watching folks check in their luggage. It can come as quite a shock if you have to pay the additional fee for being over the luggage weight limit of 50 pounds. You really have to pack smart if you fly often or stay for long periods of time. When I am packing for a trip, I usually figure if I can carry my luggage, it is in the weight limit for the airlines, but I've never weighed a bag. The Ricardo Beverly Hills' Solutions luggage line features a built-in digital scale so you'll know exactly how much you have packed before you get to the airport. Pack, then press the "on" button, and lift the suitcase handle. The scale will display the combined weight of the luggage and its contents, leaving no costly surprises. This suitcase weighs less than 15 pounds empty. Pricing starts at $119.

Recharge on the go.

Posted by etipton – June 1, 2007 10:05 AM

Why is it that you forget to charge you cell phone or the battery dies at the worst possible moment? It is when you are waiting for that important call, or have a hundred places to go. Extra batteries are very expensive, and if you could remember to charge your phone you usually wouldn't need a battery in the first place. With Energizer's Energi To Go, you can charge your phone using AA batteries. It charges your phone for up to 10 hours on two AA batteries. Make sure you get the version that is compatible with your brand of phone. Priced less than $20.

Almost every time my husband goes out of town, he needs to bring at least one tie. Ties are not an easy thing to pack. This Tie Caddy allows you to roll the ties up and store them in a container that will keep them from getting crushed. Each tie caddy will hold one tie. You may need to buy more than one, depending on your travel habits. This travel tie caddy is priced under $10 tie%20caddy.jpg .
