My sister sent me this link a few weeks ago. Her daughter takes her lunch to school every day, and my sister got tired of using plastic bags and other disposable products. Also, after many years of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, my niece was ready to try a few new things for lunch. This product is the Laptop Lunch lunchbox. Laptop Lunches are American-style bento boxes designed to help families pack nutritious, environment-friendly lunches for school, work, and travel. The Laptop Lunch lunchbox kit includes the Laptop Lunch insulated carrying case, water bottle, the Laptop Lunch Bento Box with all inner containers and utensils, and one copy of The Laptop Lunch User's Guide. The Wizard Lizard is a fun addition to any bath. Fill the lizard up with soap, shampoo, conditioner or shower gel and watch how eager your child will be to take a shower. There are four powerful, suction-cups that stick to most bathroom surfaces. This refillable bathroom gadget dispenses liquid soaps and shampoos from the pet's mouth. But don't worry, a plastic stopper automatically closes to keep the contents inside even when facing down. This easy-to-squeeze shower pet is the perfect bath time accessory for any child's bathroom. It is available in three different colors, so you can get a different color for each shower product you use. The Wizard Lizard is priced around $15.

I know this is supposed to help conserve water, but I think it is better for keeping kids on track in the morning. The timer sticks on the shower wall. Set it when your first get in and the sand runs out in five minutes. If you need more time, flip it over for another five minutes. In the morning it is easy to lose track of time. You aren't quite awake, and next thing you know thirty minutes has passed. The timer helps you save water, and helps you keep better track of your time. The shower timer is priced around $5.

By combining multiple functions into a single device, the Water Flo provides a simple solution to several bath-time challenges. It diverts the flow of water in order to make a gentle waterfall to protect kids from hitting the faucet in the bath, while also functioning as a bubble-bath dispenser. Just fill the reservoir, and let the children dispense the bubble bath into the water by pressing the button on the front. The Water Flo attaches easily to the bathtub faucet with a spring-activated grip that requires no assembly or special installation. The Water Flo is priced around $15.

Nothing will throw your back out quicker than walking around, hunched over with a toddler. Unfortunately, as they first learn to walk, you have to hold their hands all the time. Yes, it is a sweet, wonderful time. I loved it, but I would have loved it even more if I had these Walking Wings. Walking Wings allow babies to experience fewer falls, and have more natural balance by using both of their hands. This allows them to gain confidence and enjoy their independence. Mom and Dad avoid back pain, and don't have to worry about hurting little arms. Walking Wings are a unique padded support vest that easily fastens around the chest of the baby. It has two adjustable, detachable straps with padded handles for your comfort. Did I mention it will keep you from hurting your back? That is always a good thing. Walking Wings are priced around $25.

When I was a child, my mother used glass baby bottles to feed me formula. Then, the amazing plastic bottles were the thing to use. Plastic didn't break, so it took the danger of broken glass out of the picture. Fast forward to 2008, and concern over leaching chemicals in plastic baby bottles is sending parents back to using glass bottles. Once again, parents are worried about breaking glass bottles. Babylife is reintroducing glass baby bottles, but with a new design and safety twist: the bottle is covered with a modern, patent-pending, silicone sleeve that will help protect the bottle from breakage. This silicone sleeve is free of plastics, and is 100% non-toxic. The bottle and the sleeve can be boiled or put in the dishwasher together. The silicone nipple is latex-free and non-toxic. The plastic ring, plug and cap contain no polycarbonates and are food-grade, FDA approved and recyclable. The sleeve provides a good gripping surface during feeding and also a great tactile experience for your baby. Bottles are available in pink, raspberry, orange, yellow, sky and ocean. The nine ounce wee•go bottles are priced around $20 each.

I always make lunches in the early hours of the morning. My daughter always wants the American classic: the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. While it isn't hard to make, I don't like to contaminate my peanut butter or jelly. I have to remember to wipe the knife good on the bread, or use two knives. Not anymore: this spreader has two ends. Use one end for scooping and spreading peanut butter, and the other end for jelly. It is even color-coded if you too are not a morning person. The peanut butter and jelly knife is priced around $8.

We have the perfect branch out in front of our house for a tree swing. I have been looking into different designs of tree swings. There are a lot more options than you would think, but aren't there always a lot more options whenever you go to buy most anything? I found these tire swings from Wildlife Creations International. They are handmade from recycled tires, and artfully shaped into a variety of different animals, manuals and objects for added fun and excitement. Unlike traditional tire swings, these tires are cleaned, so black does not rub off onto clothes or hands. The swings can hold up to 250 pounds and be attached to a tree, porch or existing swing set. These creative tire swings are priced around $100.

After having more children at a park than adults, a mom invented these helpful temporary tattoos. As a mom, I know how easy it is to turn around, and your child is no where in sight. My daughter is usually under the clothing rack, but it doesn't make it any less scary those few seconds. I worry more in certain places than in others, and I always worry more when I'm out-numbered. Our Zoo has a poorly designed play area. Unless you are climbing around the structure with them, there is no way you can keep your eyes on them when they are playing. I only have one child, but if I had two or three, I would be terrified there. Those situations are a good time to use SafetyTat. It was designed by a mother with three children. The SafetyTat is a fun and colorful kids temporary tattoo that’s personalized with your cell phone number. When applied to the arm of your child or loved one, SafetyTat provides an immediate, highly-visible form of identification that stays in place even when wet and lasts for one to five days. Even better than just your cell phone number, you can buy tattoos with important medical information. I was in a care-giving situation a few weeks ago where it would have been very beneficial for me to know a particular child was autistic. How nice would it be to slap on a tattoo that said "my child is allergic to peanuts" before you send him off to camp or Bible School? Safety Tats are priced around $20 for 30.

If you are traveling with small children this summer, I feel your pain. In the past year, we have yet to have any of our flights not have delays. This is bad enough as an adult, but if you are traveling with a small child, it makes everything more frustrating. Make traveling with tots a bit easier with the Trunki Ride-on Suitcase. Yes, I did say ride-on. The Trunki Rolling Suitcase, suitable for children ages three to six, is an airline-approved carry-on bag. It is great for storing travel essentials, snacks, games and spare clothes, but more importantly your child can ride on the suitcase. This is great to help eliminate airport boredom during those long delays, and can save your back when the child decides not to walk anymore. It includes a multipurpose strap that can be used to pull riders or used as shoulder strap for parents to carry the bag. The Trunki Ride-On Suitcase is priced around $40, and available in pink or blue.

First of all, congratulations Grace on your college graduation. We are so proud of you! I know we gave you cash since you don't have your living arrangements firmed up yet, but these were a few things I had picked out for you. They would be great for any graduate.
This graduation photo album is pretty neat. I made a little album when I graduated college, and I am really glad I have that moment captured like it was, not how I would remember it now looking back on the day. This hand-finished copper picture journal holds 24, 4x6 photos in 12, acid-free, black sleeves and features an embossed cover. Designed by artisan Cam Wilson, and handmade in San Francisco. Brenda Lee Feldman, inventor of BumpyName Orbit Labels, is offering my readers a 15% discount on any label order during the month of April. Use the coupon code "HGTV408".
When my daughter was small, she delighted in pulling the labels off sippy cups and toys. Even today, if I label a cup or school supplies, she has got the label on her shirt before I turn around. I have pretty much given up. I use Sharpies and paint pens to label her stuff. Her preschool requires everything that is brought to school has to be labeled. After a few weeks, her name is scratched off and we start over.
This must be a common problem because a mom designed these BumpyName Orbit Labels. They were designed for 4 ounce baby bottles, and stretch to work on sippy cups, adult drinks, snack bowls and pretty much everything in between. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe. Your child may not be able to read yet, but she knows her drink has the pink band and her baby sister has the purple band regardless of which cup each is using today. That might lead to less spreading of germs. I'm always for that.
A package of three pre-printed common names sells for $8, or select a custom project. Select your color, name and a sassy icon. Packages of four are priced around $12. While these drink bands are marketed towards kids,

My daughter and her friends love anything alive. If it is alive, they are very interested in it. We got a Chia Pet for Christmas, and while it was fun, this World Alive kit looks much better. It is designed to teach children about growing bugs and insects.

Each set includes a net habitat, an activity book with instructions, a feeding pipette, a magnifier, padded tip tweezers and order information about how to buy eggs, larvae or insects. It is all you need to rear a live insect generation. Let your children learn about the life cycle, insect biology, and caring for a living being. The societies are interactive, educational and non-violent. Once the insects are raised to maturity, you can release them into nature!
Select from lady bug, praying mantis, or butterfly. Priced around $30 per kit.

My daughter did not sleep at night unless she was held. I know, just put her down and she will cry herself to sleep. She did that, and forty-five minutes later she was up again. It was horrible. I would have paid any amount of money to get her to sleep through the night. Apparently the folks at Babyhugs know this. They have the world's first,patent-pending, remote controlled, automatic Cot (Crib) Rocker. The Lullabub crib rocker is an innovative product that will gently rock a crib automatically in a harmonic rhythm to naturally soothe and settle babies to sleep. It emulates the suspension in a car. They say that with the Lullabub cot rocker we hope to provide you and your child with calmer, relaxed days and nights. Too bad they don't make a night-time toddler cage to put around the bed to keep them from getting out and climbing in your bed. If it works, it is priced at a well worth it $200.

The EZ-Freeze Cereal on-the-go container allows the milk stays cool in the bottom and the cereal to stay dry on the top until you are ready to eat breakfast. The spoon is built right into the top of the container. This allows you to take your cereal wherever you go. They are a little hard to find locally or online. Cupcakes have not lost any popularity since I featured them in my blog last Spring. With Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter coming up in the next few weeks, I am sure there will be plenty of cupcakes around. The Wilton company now has a giant three-dimensional cupcake-shaped cake pan. Priced less than $30.
One of my most popular featured items from the cupcake post is the Cupcake Courier. You can view that post here. We have an update from Jennifer Gunn, inventor of the product. Target has decided to give the Cupcake Courier a trial run at 1,100 of their stores nationwide. To start out, they're carrying the blue and pink models, and retailing them for $24.99. They can be found in their "As Seen On TV" section, which is usually at the end of an aisle near the bakeware area. She also thinks they will be available at Target.com. If you can not find wait until then, you can still order them from Jennifer at www.cupcakecourier.com.
The Create n Celebrate Pull Apart Cupcake Mold is another neat cupcake product now available. You bake the cupcakes. You arrange the pattern, and then you decorate. It doesn't get much easier than that! This is a turtle, but it is also available in car, butterfly, flower basket, alligator, wreath, penguin and train from Roshco. With the Pull Apart Cupcake Mold, you get the ease of cupcakes, but still have the look of a cake. The FDA approved food-grade silicone is guaranteed oven-safe to 500° F. The mold has a permanent, quick-release, non-stick surface, and is refrigerator, freezer, microwave, oven and metal utensil safe. Priced less than $20.

It is so hard to be a parent. The latest example of this is the recent controversy about Bishpenol-A in sippy cups and plastic bottles. Studies seem to indicate that it is harmless, but ten years from now they could decide it was dangerous after all. BornFree offers a training cup that contains no Bishpenol-A. BornFree products are a bit more expensive than the other brands. One sippy-cup costs around $10. At the grocery store, I can usually get two of the other brands for the same price. This is one of those decisions each parent has to research and make the most informed choice for his or her family. If you decide that Bisphenol-A is something you want to avoid, this BornFree cup is a great option. Priced around $10 per cup.

If you have children close together in age, or if you take care of children on an occasional basis, the Handysitt chair is a great high chair alternative. At a very young age, our daughter wanted to ditch the baby chair and join the rest of the family. The Handysitt chair fits securely on a dining room chair and pulls right up to tables, allowing the child to sit safely with the family when dining or for other table activities. It folds flat for easy storage or travel. The chair features solid beech wood and steel construction and is available in several color choices with matching pads. Use for children aged seven months to four years.Priced around $80.

Give the impossible this year. Give your kids a white Christmas. Pour a few ounces into your favorite container, add water, and watch as snow erupts, spilling over the container lid -- expanding 50 to 100 times its original volume. Leave your snow alone for a few days and let it dry out, turning back into a compact powder. It can be reused again and again, so it's also hippie friendly! While Instant Snow is non-toxic, we don't recommend eating any. Flush thoroughly with water if it is accidentally ingested. Be safe, and have fun! Priced less than $10.

I am not a morning person. I hit snooze in my sleep. It is really bad. Sometimes I wake up, look at the time and realize I turned my alarm off without waking up. Forget snooze - I just turned the whole thing off. Unlike other clocks with which you can easily hit the snooze button and fall back asleep, the Clocky Alarm Clock makes sure you get out of bed. How it works: The alarm goes off once, but if you hit snooze Clocky jumps off your nightstand (up to 3 feet) and wheels around your room looking for a place to hide before it sounds the alarm a second time. The snooze time can be set from 0-9 minutes, so if you set it at 0 Clocky runs right away. Nothing like a little hide-and-seek to get you going in the morning. This is a perfect gift for the teenager who won't get up in the mornings. I wouldn't advise getting one for anyone with a roommate, unless he or she wants to get a new roommate. Priced around $50.

Unless you keep an actual list, it seems like it is always your turn to change the baby. It doesn't matter if you have changed 999 of the last 1,000 diapers, if your partner changed the last one it is your turn again. Solve this situation with the Wheel of Responsibility. No need to bicker about whose turn it is to change that messy diaper or do the 2 a.m. feeding - just spin the wheel and accept your fate! It also includes the book on safe baby handling. This book provides tips and a lot of laughs on what not to do. Not just baby shower gifts - they're important tools for expecting parents! Priced around $25.
