My sister sent me this link a few weeks ago. Her daughter takes her lunch to school every day, and my sister got tired of using plastic bags and other disposable products. Also, after many years of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, my niece was ready to try a few new things for lunch. This product is the Laptop Lunch lunchbox. Laptop Lunches are American-style bento boxes designed to help families pack nutritious, environment-friendly lunches for school, work, and travel. The Laptop Lunch lunchbox kit includes the Laptop Lunch insulated carrying case, water bottle, the Laptop Lunch Bento Box with all inner containers and utensils, and one copy of The Laptop Lunch User's Guide. The Laptop Lunch lunchbox is reusable, recyclable, and dishwasher safe. The lunchboxes also contain no harmful phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), or lead. The Laptop Lunch lunchbox is priced around $35.

Brenda Lee Feldman, inventor of BumpyName Orbit Labels, is offering my readers a 15% discount on any label order during the month of April. Use the coupon code "HGTV408".
When my daughter was small, she delighted in pulling the labels off sippy cups and toys. Even today, if I label a cup or school supplies, she has got the label on her shirt before I turn around. I have pretty much given up. I use Sharpies and paint pens to label her stuff. Her preschool requires everything that is brought to school has to be labeled. After a few weeks, her name is scratched off and we start over.
This must be a common problem because a mom designed these BumpyName Orbit Labels. They were designed for 4 ounce baby bottles, and stretch to work on sippy cups, adult drinks, snack bowls and pretty much everything in between. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe. Your child may not be able to read yet, but she knows her drink has the pink band and her baby sister has the purple band regardless of which cup each is using today. That might lead to less spreading of germs. I'm always for that.
A package of three pre-printed common names sells for $8, or select a custom project. Select your color, name and a sassy icon. Packages of four are priced around $12. While these drink bands are marketed towards kids,

If you travel the world, or spend a lot of time off the grid, this SteriPEN is a hand-held, battery-operated water purifier that uses ultra-violet light instead of chemicals or filters to destroy micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa. The maker claims it can purify 16 oz. of water in less than a minute, and a full liter in just 90 seconds. The ultraviolet light is invisible to the human eye, but a visible blue light indicates that the SteriPEN is working and shuts off as soon as a full dose has been delivered. The UV light breaks down the DNA of viruses, bacteria and cysts, rendering them harmless. The SteriPEN requires 4 AA batteries, sold separately. The Ultraviolet lamp used by the SteriPEN is very durable, providing up to 5,000 doses. To ensure that the SteriPEN Classic provides optimal effectiveness, the lamp is automatically disabled after 5,000 doses and a red LED light alerts you that a new lamp is required.
Prices start around $70.

Everywhere I have ever worked, my office has been painfully cold. I think the temperature is set by the warmest person in the office. When you have ice cold hands it makes working difficult. I must not be the only one with this problem. Perpetual Kids sells these great USB port heated gloves. These woolen gloves have a heating pad tucked inside. You can plug them into a USB port on your computer, and your hands will become toasty warm. The open-end design allows for easy finger mobility. The gloves have a two-level heating control and work with any USB port. Priced less than $25.

This time of year, everyone is sick. Unfortunately, all the sick people go the same places you do, like the grocery store and the office. I want to take the anti-bacterial wipes everywhere, but even I can't clean everything. Or can I?
With this Nano UV Disinfecting Sanitizer, you can stop the spread of some of these infectious diseases. From common cold and flu bugs to deadly E.coli, Asian bird flu, and SARS viruses, the UV light on this hand-held scanner quickly and safely kills them all in just 10 seconds. Harmful micro-organisms can live up to 72 hours on indoor surfaces and cause up to 10 colds per year for the average school-age child. Proven effective by independent testing laboratories worldwide, this UV disinfectant produces sufficient energy to destroy the DNA of microorganisms without toxins or side effects. UV light is proven to kill bacteria and viral DNA after a 10-second scan on any surface. The convenient cell-phone-sized unit slides easily into any purse or coat pocket. It works nicely in your home, office, or when you travel, and we have all seen those videos about unsanitary hotel rooms. Priced less than $80.

It is so hard to be a parent. The latest example of this is the recent controversy about Bishpenol-A in sippy cups and plastic bottles. Studies seem to indicate that it is harmless, but ten years from now they could decide it was dangerous after all. BornFree offers a training cup that contains no Bishpenol-A. BornFree products are a bit more expensive than the other brands. One sippy-cup costs around $10. At the grocery store, I can usually get two of the other brands for the same price. This is one of those decisions each parent has to research and make the most informed choice for his or her family. If you decide that Bisphenol-A is something you want to avoid, this BornFree cup is a great option. Priced around $10 per cup.

As we move into the winter months, the incidence of illness rises. Unfortunately, most employees are unable to stay home when they are sick. They either do not get paid, cannot find someone to cover them, or know they tend to get more rest at work then they do at home. I can just feel myself getting sick when I return from lunch and find a germy person answering a call on my phone or looking something up on my computer. I pull out the Lysol, but I always worry that it might short-circuit my keyboard. This is why I need the wireless washable keyboard. The SpillSeal®-protected water- and dust-proof keyboard provides an easy solution to the problem of bacterial infection. It is washable, and the sealed structure lets you put it under running water. It is easy to disinfect and holds up to being immersed in antibacterial solutions and rinsed under a tap to reduce spread of germs. This is great for home, too. Last year my husband and I passed strep throat back and forth for four months. We had a laptop, so I could only do minimal disinfecting of the computer. This really would have come in handy.
Priced around $50.
