Tray by Tray

Posted by etipton – March 31, 2008 9:20 AM

At first glance I thought this was a black tray, but it is a lacquered, green color. The website says each tray is unique, and is between 70-and 80-years-old. The dimensions are 17" square x 2" high. Priced around $70.

Here is another image of the tray from the vendor's website. Either picture shows a beautiful tray that would look great in any home.

Red Fish Blue Fish

Posted by etipton – March 28, 2008 7:43 AM

Searching through the Green Home vendors, I came across One Fish Two Fish. They had a lot of neat pieces. One Fish Two Fish is a retail store in Savannah, Georgia, but they also have an online store. They have bedding, bath products, jewelry, furniture, entertaining items, books, lighting and upholstery choices. I liked the Marble Cheese Platter.

They also have some neat rattan items. They have a rattan tray, tissue box and napkin holder. They don't sell the products on the website, but if you contact them directly, I am sure they could help you get what you need.

Do you Diggit?

Posted by etipton – March 27, 2008 7:21 AM

I am a sucker for cool garden gadgets. The Diggit Duo Multi-Purpose Garden Tools are the perfect set for careful, selective weeding without disturbing bedding plants and bushes. These gadgets will go deeper than a trowel and disturb less ground than a claw. They feature red handles, so they are easy to spot in your garden. They also have soft, flat-ended handles to avoid giving you blisters. The blade is heavy-gage, galvanized steel that avoids bending and rusting. The blade also has inch-marker-notches for bulb planting depth. Priced less than $20.

I have not used this, but Rust-oleum now offers dry erase paint. It is a smooth, hard finish that creates a white, writeable and erasable surface. Once dry, simply use any dry erase markers to draw or write messages and then erase! Use it on interior surfaces such as drywall, masonite, wood, cement or metal. They also have chalkboard and magnetic paint so you can have fun on any wall. The dry erase paint kit is priced around $20.

It's ALIVE.

Posted by etipton – March 25, 2008 8:36 AM

My daughter and her friends love anything alive. If it is alive, they are very interested in it. We got a Chia Pet for Christmas, and while it was fun, this World Alive kit looks much better. It is designed to teach children about growing bugs and insects.
butterfly%20alive.jpg

Each set includes a net habitat, an activity book with instructions, a feeding pipette, a magnifier, padded tip tweezers and order information about how to buy eggs, larvae or insects. It is all you need to rear a live insect generation. Let your children learn about the life cycle, insect biology, and caring for a living being. The societies are interactive, educational and non-violent. Once the insects are raised to maturity, you can release them into nature!

One more night.

Posted by etipton – March 24, 2008 7:55 AM

My daughter did not sleep at night unless she was held. I know, just put her down and she will cry herself to sleep. She did that, and forty-five minutes later she was up again. It was horrible. I would have paid any amount of money to get her to sleep through the night. Apparently the folks at Babyhugs know this. They have the world's first,patent-pending, remote controlled, automatic Cot (Crib) Rocker. The Lullabub crib rocker is an innovative product that will gently rock a crib automatically in a harmonic rhythm to naturally soothe and settle babies to sleep. It emulates the suspension in a car. They say that with the Lullabub cot rocker we hope to provide you and your child with calmer, relaxed days and nights. Too bad they don't make a night-time toddler cage to put around the bed to keep them from getting out and climbing in your bed. If it works, it is priced at a well worth it $200.

Order Faster Next Year.

Posted by etipton – March 19, 2008 5:39 PM

This year I planned on buying this Easter Egg Wreath, but it is no longer available for season. The topiary is still available, so if you want one, I suggest you order it as soon as possible. Why I wanted this one in particular is because it looked so classy. It is not another one of the bright pink, purple and yellow egg creations. So many of the Easter decorations look juvenile or mass-produced. They are just a little too bright and a little too much this time of year. The collection from Grandin Road is skillfully assembled by hand for a professional, designer look. They don't look like something I put together with my daughter and my glue gun; not that there is anything wrong with that! Next year I hope Easter comes later, and I can get a little more organized. Priced around $50.

Potter's Delight

Posted by etipton – March 10, 2008 11:26 AM

Spring. It is the time of year when the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and the flowers start waking up from their winter sleep. It also means it is time to plant and re-pot. The worst part about changing planters is the mess. I don't have a good garden station, so most of my gardening occurs in my kitchen. You can turn any tabletop or counter into a temporary gardening workspace with the Potter's Perfection Mat. This versatile, water-repellent mat is uniquely designed for use over potting tables or kitchen countertops to contain dirt, fertilizer, and gardening chemicals. It is also a great mat to put in the car to protect the trunk when you pick up new plants at the nursery. This potting mat is a great gardening tool and the perfect gift for avid gardeners, indoor gardening aficionados, and container plant enthusiasts. Don't forget, Mother's Day is right around the corner. Priced less than $20.

Sideswiped

Posted by etipton – March 6, 2008 12:53 PM

No one wants to get sideswiped when driving, but a sideswipe can be a great thing if it is this plastic attachment for your mixer! I absolutely love my Kitchenaid mixer, but I do hate stopping it in the middle of mixing, and scraping the sides of the bowl. It is messy, and if I wanted to mix the batter by hand, I would not have put it in the mixer to begin with. The Sideswipe ends that! The SideSwipe attaches to the mixer blades to fill the void between the blade and the bowl. It fits most KitchenAid stand mixers, the Hamilton Beach Eclectrics stand mixer, and the Cuisinart Stand Mixer line. There are new options coming out this summer, but hey, it will fit my mixer, so I'm happy. Priced around $25.

Snow End In Sight.

Posted by etipton – March 4, 2008 7:38 AM

The winter weather keeps coming. Yesterday it was near seventy degrees. Today we might get snow. Be prepared for anything Old Man Winter can send your way with the SnowScoop. It is basically a big, plastic board with wheels, but you can move a lot of snow without much work. You just push, pivot and dump! The heavy load is carried by the wheel underneath the SnowScoop, not by your back. A 28" wide path is cleared with each pass. They claim that it is three to five times faster than using a shovel. At my house that would be a hundred times faster than me using a shovel. The SnowScoop is made of tough, durable polyethylene and has a large 4" swivel wheel and metal ice-breaking blade. It is enviromentally friendly, since it requires no electricity or gasoline. It also doesn't create any noise, so no more waking up the neighbors at five in the morning to clear you driveway. Replacement blades are sold separately. Priced around $70.
