Turkey in the oven.

Posted by etipton – October 31, 2007 10:06 AM

I do not have a double oven, nor do I desire one...most of the time. Thanksgiving is the one day we all wish we had more oven space. In comes this stacked rack from Williams-Sonoma. Used on one half of an oven rack, you can bake three levels of other dishes. Sized to accommodate bakeware up to 4" high, the rack is crafted of rustproof stainless steel and is sturdy enough to hold three levels of heavy casseroles. It folds flat for storage. Hand-wash. 10 3/4" x 14" x 10 3/4" high. Priced less than $25.

Turkey parts.

Posted by etipton – October 29, 2007 1:51 PM

Go grab a decent-sized pumpkin before they are all gone. You will need it for this Thanksgiving decoration. These iron turkey parts stick in a pumpkin and make it festive for days to come. These sturdy iron parts transform into any size pumpkin into a royal holiday bird. The head tail and wings insert easily and the footed base elevates the whole creation in style. I usually put Vaseline or WD-40 around the puncture on the pumpkin. That seals the pumpkin and delays decomposition. Priced less than $35.

Iron Maiden

Posted by etipton – October 24, 2007 8:16 AM

I am that crazy woman at the store that walks up to you and says “you don’t want to buy that! I bought it and it was horrible.” I over heard two sales clerks talking about irons when I was in Jacksonville, Florida last fall. I had a Rowenta, and I thought it was wonderful. I was getting ready to chime in with my Rowenta’s are worth the money lecture when she said she read in Consumer Reports that the Black & Decker Digital Advantage scored higher than even the more pricey irons. I had to check it out. I read the report, and went online to a few sites where people review things. They all LOVED this iron. They had thrown out more expensive irons, and some people even made CRAZY comments like “this makes ironing fun”. I won’t tell you that it makes ironing fun, but I do not send every shirt to the cleaners any more. I have also sold at least three of them by word of mouth to my friends and family, and so far, they are happy with it too. Priced under $70. digital%20iron.jpg Continue reading »

A real cut up.

Posted by etipton – October 23, 2007 11:12 AM

We do not have room in our office for a shredder, and I worry about the safety of shredders with children. This Shredder Hand is a convenient and compact way to get rid of confidential paper documents. You use it like regular scissors, it just cuts more completely and quickly. This is a great idea for people who live with limited space. Priced under $20.

Another neat idea from Kohler.

Posted by etipton – October 22, 2007 11:39 AM

After some recent house-hunting, it seems most new constructions are built with a separate shower stall. Far too often storage and seating solutions for the shower are afterthoughts. As a result, many homeowners have to resort to makeshift fixes that are unsightly, inefficient, uncomfortable and potentially unsafe. Kohler has a innovative line for shower storage that can be used in new construction or retro-fitted for your existing shower. It installs nearly flush with the wall and has four adjustable shelves. Prices start less than $100.

Cheer for the cure.

Posted by etipton – October 16, 2007 4:12 PM

Everyone has a cause that is near and dear to his/her heart. Breast cancer is a common cancer that is generally treatable with early detection. It is very important that every lady remembers that, and is educated about breast cancer. This week I continue to feature products for which proceeds go to breast cancer research and education. I loved these heart-shaped bottle stoppers, and the fact that some of the proceeds go to breast cancer research is icing on the cake. This is a set of four bottle stoppers, and each is topped with a large resin heart in red, pale pink, clear and fuchsia. The heart measures approximately two inches. Priced less than $40.

The bottle stoppers won’t be of much use without a bottle opener. This cute pink one allows design to meet efficient function. The swing system handle fits the gesture of your hand and pulls corks with ease. It is embellished with a single Swarovski crystal for a chic and shimmering accent, and is made of molded matte plastic. Priced less than $45.

Pacify your germophobe.

Posted by etipton – October 9, 2007 1:18 PM

My daughter never showed any interest in a pacifier until she was three years old and found them in the give-away pile. She played with them, but was never addicted to one. I think I had a paci until I was three or four years old. If you use a pacifier, it seems to be a game for babies to see how many times they can drop it or how far they can throw it. It never fails that you are out and don't have access to easy cleaning.

Frequently-dropped pacifiers are magnets for dirt and germs. Prevent your baby from being exposed to harmful agents with this fast action Pacifier Rinser. Just place your baby's dirty pacifier in the spray shield and spritz the dirt away with clean water or antibacterial mouthwash. Easily fits inside a purse or diaper bag! Made in the USA . Features a unique design that keeps clean and dirty water separated. It folds easily when not in use, preventing leaks and accidental sprays while in transit.Priced less than $10.

Creepy Candles

Posted by etipton – October 3, 2007 11:06 AM

The other day I asked my daughter, who absolutely loves spooky things, which was her favorite holiday. She said HALLOWEEN, then Christmas. I feel the same way, at least when it comes to decorating – Halloween has a lot more interesting options, especially the past few years. Growing up, my family had a pumpkin outside on the porch and maybe a ghost made from a sheet. Today, the decorations you buy are the same type of things we saw decorating the set of Tales from the Crypt. Take these black candle holders, for example. They are constructed of powder-coated aluminum with a glossy black finish. They look like something Dracula would have in his home. What a fun, spooky centerpiece for Halloween party parties or decorations. Priced less than $25.
