Most of us have that corner in the garage where our tools set. There might be a few nails on a board where you can hang them, but it really isn't organized. A great gift for dad might be some garden racks. With this handy organizer, he can park his car in the garage with out getting hit in the head with a rake. The Garden Tool Organizer from Frontgate not just an organizer, but is more of a garden cart. It is a heavy-duty, rolling cart on locking casters. The grid center accommodates up to 23 long-handled tools, including spades, rakes, shovels, brooms, gloves, and seed packets. It also includes two removable canvas satchels with pockets for storing smaller items. Be aware, some assembly required. Priced at $129.
The Garden Rack & Basket by Schulte has a removable basket that carries to the garden and keeps your garden tools organized and accessible. Carry your hand-tools, seeds and other garden supplies with you - or use it to gather your garden produce! It attaches to the The Grid by Schulte or directly to the wall. more

Candles provide wonderful ambiance, but they are inherently dangerous. Unattended candles at a friend’s house dripped from the mantle all the way down to the hearth in a stalagtite fashion. Luckily, a messy clean-up was all that happened. There could have been a fire.
It is shocking to wake up or come home, and realize a candle was left burning. I have a small child, and she is attracted to candles like a moth to a flame. Vessel has created a rechargeable, LCD battery-operated candle called the Candela. It offers 8 hours of run-time after a full charge, safe for indoor and outdoor use, safe to the touch, and it comes on automatically when the power goes out. According to their website, they are more economical than votive candles. They also do not leave the soot stain on ceilings you get from traditional candles. The rechargeable batteries are replaceable. Two Candelas are priced under $50. They sell covers to add color for under $5.
There is also a fun, colorful version called the Candloo. It is targeted more towards children. It is also priced around $50 for

When I was a child, they had all these cartoons with the products of the future. I mean, I am really shocked we do not live on the moon and drive flying cars like we saw on The Jetson’s.. There are a few things that did come to market: computers, cell phones, tiny cameras and these really neat biometric door locks.
These locks are perfect if your kids or roommates are always forgetting their keys. You can give the babysitter or housekeeper access to your home, but still want the ability to keep them out without going through the cost and trouble of changing the locks. Most versions of the fingerprint
locks hold 15 or more different users. That should allow for key employees, pet sitters, nannies, preferred family members and house guests to all have a different code. Now if they would just get the flying car that runs on water on the market, we will be set. Starting at $249.

Don't tell my daughter, but I went through her toys and greatly limited her selection over the weekend. We have an unbelievable amount of stuffed animals. She plays with them, but she cannot begin to play with the number we have accumulated. Now comes the hard part. Before donating them to someone else, I am going to store them somewhere out of sight for a while to make sure I didn't get rid of someone important. Plush toys can get pretty gross if not properly stored. These XL and XXL Zip Loc bags are great for storing awkward sized items. I currently have last year's blow-up swimming pool stored in one in the crawlspace. Our crawlspace is really disgusting, and not designed for storage. These bags allow you more storage options like the attic and crawlspace. The Zip Loc storage bags are inexpensive and do not require a vacuum cleaner as some brands require for use. I also have a queen-sized comforter, pillow shams and bed skirt in one bag in the linen closet. They are great for keeping all the pieces together, and keeping everything dust-free and organized. Priced under $10 for a box of three to five depending on size.

Now for something different. I like to drink tea, but I don't love the little mesh ball for loose tea. It just looks goofy, and always gets smashed during storage. Check out the tea stick. It is stylish, sleek and perfect for one cup of tea. This makes a great gift for the tea lover in your life. Priced around $18.

The little plastic tab on the coffee bag that is supposed to keep it closed never works. I have to find a jumbo clip to keep it shut. I also have a separate scoop to measure the grounds. I do not always remember to put the scoop back in the bag, so I frequently have to go searching for it in the morning. A friend of mine mentioned receiving a clip that had a scoop on it. I had to check this out. I love it. I can find the scoop in the dark and start my coffee before having to actually wake up. Keep the great ideas coming!Priced under $10.

Fresh fruits and vegetables make wonderful salads and other easy things to pack and take to work or school. This stainless steel lunch jar makes that easier. The jar holds four stackable bowls, so you can bring hot things and cool things at the same time. Your soup can stay warm while your salad stays cold. Not only is bringing your lunch cost-effective, but you can pack food much healthier than you would get at the fast food place. Now if they can just create someone to pack the lunch for me, I will be set. It pays for itself in no time even if it is $50.

While tub toys are tons of fun for kids, they are not so fun for parents. We have one bathroom, so many a morning my husband finds all the toys left in the tub from the previous night. I’m sure when he pulls back the curtain he feels a bit like Janet Leigh in Psycho, not knowing exactly what he will find. This wire basket attaches to the wall with suction cups. It allows all the water to drain out of the toys, and has a latch at the bottom for easy release back into the tub. I am sure you can make lots of fun games tossing toys into the basket. TWO POINTS!
Priced under $10.

It is spring, and it is the time of year your mailbox is full of graduation announcements. You wonder what you can send the grad that is different, usable and inexpensive. Many of our new graduates will be moving away from home, and moving away from mom and dad. Sometimes money gets tight, or they get forgetful. Next thing they know, they are out of gas. The gas containers available at gas stations are expensive, and not very easy to use. They also are too bulky to store in your trunk. If you ever run out of gas again, you have to purchase another one. Check out Gas-O-Haul. It is a flat-storing container that holds one gallon of gas. Priced under $10.

I have a sensitive stomach and rarely eat leftovers. My major in college was Nutrition so I took A LOT of microbiology. This combination makes me a bit neurotic about how long things have been in the refrigerator. For example, when I open a bottle of salad dressing, I write the date on it. If I can not pinpoint when I fixed the chili in the refrigerator, it goes in the trash. I was very excited to find this Days Ago timer, and that it was priced under $12 for a set of two.
It counts up by hours up to 24, and then days, so if you open a jar of baby food or salsa you Continue reading »

At our house we have one cell phone charging on the bookshelf. Another cell phone is charging on the dresser, and anything else that needs charging goes in the bathroom. We do not have a lot of easily accessible outlets. I hate the look of cords and wires everywhere. It reminds me of the silly string children use. It is a big mess.
This valet allows you to neatly charge up to three electronic devices, or store them when not in use. You also have easy access to the cord if you need to take a device with you to work or out of town. Conquering Clutter one step at a time. It is also a nice Father's Day gift. Available in cherry or black. The charging valet is priced under $50.

The humble cupcake, is there anything better for end of the year parties, cookouts and all the summer fun? Cupcakes are perfect because they are easy and do not take a lot of icing skill. They look great, are just enough portion and taste amazing. The humble cupcake has recently become trendy. You can find images of cupcakes on tote bags, t-shirts, jewelry and purses. New York has tons of bakeries specializing in cupcakes. They even have special versions for special occasions and weddings.
The hard part of serving cupcakes is transporting them. Jennifer Gunn decided there had to be a better way, and designed the Cupcake Courier. It has stacking trays to hold 36 cupcakes. Take the trays out, and you can carry a cake or pie. Priced under $40.
There are a lot of neat accessories for cupcakes. For example: Continue reading »

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, the commemoration of the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Despite popular opinion, it is not Mexico’s Independence Day. Like many holidays, it is now highly commercialized. In fact, Cinco de Mayo is now more widely celebrated in America than in Mexico.
Saturday every Mexican restaurant in America will be packed with revelers. If you are itching for fajitas, and do not want to wait to be seated, here is a great solution: The Fajita Set from Lodge. They make all the easy, pre-seasoned, ready-to-use cast iron skillets. This fajita set includes a griddle, a wooden underliner and a festive chili print pot holder. Yes, you too can bring sizzling, hot pans to your family and say "Be careful, the plate is extremely hot." Enjoy! The Fajita Set is priced around $20.

This Saturday is the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. It is the time to shine for hats, spectator pumps, seersucker suits, mint juleps and all the other fine things the South has to offer. This year the Queen of England will be honoring the Derby with her royal presence.
I enjoy the Derby and the festivities around it as much as the next person. The race last seconds, but it is an all day affair. Arthur Court has an interesting collection of horse items for your party. I usually love Arthur Court. When I got married I registered for and received almost everything they made from the bunny collection. Is it just me, or does the horse collection not have the same je ne sais quoi as the bunny collection? The horse collection does, however, offer the perfect tray for your Derby Day food. Arthur Court pieces starting at $12.50.
