Whisky Business.

Posted by etipton – April 25, 2007 6:11 AM

I came across this modern, stylish whisk today. The reviews say it not only looks cool, but also beats eggs and other foods better than a standard whisk. It is much easier to clean than standard whisks. I hate trying to shake a pea or walnut out of my current whisk. They get trapped up inside the wires, and they are not coming out without making a huge mess. When you are done, you can stick it in a bud vase and call it art. The Whisk is priced under $20. whisk.jpg Continue reading »

No more crying over spoiled milk.

Posted by etipton – April 24, 2007 7:47 AM

We all know how quickly milk gets nasty in warm temperatures. One minute it is milk, and the next minute it is yogurt. It is so gross that you really want to throw the cup in the trash! The Foogo line by Thermos keeps milk below room temperature (70°) for 16 hours. WOW! There are 7 oz. sippy cups (with or without handles), a 12 oz. hydration bottle with straw (keeps drinks fresh and cold for up to 12 hours), and a 10 oz. food container (keeps food cold for seven hours and hot for five). Available with pink or blue trim.
The Foogo Thermos is priced under $20. foogo%2Bthermos.jpg thermos1.jpg Continue reading »

Add a little less spice to your cabinets.

Posted by etipton – April 20, 2007 4:43 PM

My spice cabinet is too full! The other night I opened the door and a glass bottle fell out and landed on the knuckle of my second toe. Luckily my daughter did NOT learn any new words. Since then I began searching for a better way to store spices. One of our readers sent in this spice rack that fits in a drawer. What a great idea to put your spices in the drawer right beside the stove, instead of filling it with junk you don’t know what to do with. Now you will easily know if you have the spice you need for a recipe without wasting time digging in your cabinet only to discover no allspice, but three full tins of pumpkin spice.
This in-drawer spice rack is priced under $25. spice%20rack.jpg Continue reading »

Organization Project

Posted by etipton – April 20, 2007 8:40 AM

I recently tried to tackle organizing my daughter's toys. It is a never ending project. I purchased some totes,
like these,

for the smaller things, and I have tried to utilize some shelves on our entertainment center. We have pretty much just given up on the big stuff. I cannot wait until we get a house were we can have a play room, then the mess will be out of sight and out of mind. Have you found anything special that helps you keep organized around the house? The Measuring Game

Posted by etipton – April 18, 2007 10:53 AM

Do you ever feel like you are playing a game show when filling your measuring cups - higher, lower, higher, lower. A relative mentioned that if I think this is annoying now, wait until you get trifocals! I shudder at the thought.
Each measuring cup is priced less than $10.

Curved Shower Rods

Posted by etipton – April 16, 2007 12:25 PM

I think this whole new trend of hotel products for home living is fun. Over the years I have stayed in many nice hotels. I loved their fluffy pillows, soft sheets, super large towels and turn down service. Recently I stayed at a hotel that had a curved shower rod. I had heard of this, but I had never seen one in action. I am a bit claustrophobic, so it was really nice to have a little more space in the shower. It made up for the lack of hot water. These curved shower rods start at less than $50.
