What the....City of Lights? Paris? I thought the Dream Home was always in the U.S. Hmmm, obviously not going to be in France. I can't even begin to imagine what the property taxes in Paris are like!

San Francisco!

Kansas City Lights...the sunflower state..mountain zone...west of the miss. Are we going to Kansas?
Posted by kelly – March 11, 2008 2:37 PM
Bay?? City Of Lights, sounds like San Francisco, California. Pam
Posted by Pam Steele – March 11, 2008 2:37 PM
Okay so there is no BAY in Nevada that I can think of...so I go back to my original guess and say it will be California! I am not sure if San Francisco is considered the City of Lights, but it is on the BAY!!! AKA San Francisco Bay Area.
(What? No "bay" in Nevada? Oh I can think of at least one.
http://www.mandalaybay.com
And you want to talk about a city of lights...Vegas! But seriously, the next HGTV Dream Home isn't in Las Vegas. Or anywhere in Nevada. fc)
Posted by Ella – March 11, 2008 2:38 PM
West of the Mississippi River, psychotic weather ("the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"), Pacific Avenue, and Bay... Well I already gave the answer: San Francisco area is the site of the new HGTV Dream Home 2009.

I believe it's Sausalito, CA

Posted by sheila – March 11, 2008 2:59 PM
san fransico or around there (the bay area)
Posted by brenda – March 11, 2008 2:59 PM
I think it is either Discovery Bay, Washington or Mount Vernon, Washington.
The picture of Dicovery Bay looks just like the clue on TV.

(I can eliminate Arizona. I never even knew there was a Globe, Arizona.
Yes, I can confirm there was a clue #6.

With this clue, I have to change my location. Up to now, everything has tied to New Mexico. Now with the clues of bay, city of lights and the video clip, my husband and I think it is Nevada, specifically around Reno. There is a town on Lake Tahoe - Nevada side - named Crystal Bay. Anyone know when they will announce the actual location?
Posted by Michelle – March 11, 2008 3:12 PM
It is going to be in California.
Posted by Mary Owens – March 11, 2008 3:13 PM
I STILL say San Diego California.
Posted by Angela – March 11, 2008 3:15 PM
Well, I haven't made a guess since the first Scrabble Board. But I think I'll still stick with Utah. I'm narrowing it down to the Ogden, Utah area. The Great Salt Lake, aka The Dead Sea has many, many bays.... Including the Ogden bay, South Bay, Willard Bay, Bear River Bay, East Bay, North Bay as well as Willard Bay State Park. And looking at pictures of the area, the terrain and flora look to be about right. And I hope I'm right... I love Utah!!!

I keep seeing these comments by fc and wonder if they are real, or the other players trying to influence our guesses.

Washington State is my guess...Evergreen state with many Bays, west of the Mississippi. Anyone on this board realize the tax consequences of winning a house worth 2 Million bucks? Enjoy it for 6 months then sell it...fast!

Woods Bay MT , Good Hope UT, Lets not forget earlier clues.
Scrabble Board. Mountain , arch, etc.
Posted by Linda – March 11, 2008 3:23 PM
I think its going to be somewhere in Tennesee

Thanks fcole for clearing up that there is at least one bay in Nevada and that the dream home is not in Nevada!
So can you tell us if the winner of this years dream home has been notified yet. It is driving me crazy!!! The last several years the winners knew by the 5th of March, so I am thinking the odds are not looking to good. I am still hoping and praying, but I will be happy for whoever wins!!!
Posted by Ella – March 11, 2008 3:25 PM
All right, I've come to the conclusion that if it's not Sausalito, it's going to be on Bainbridge Island in Washington State.

Randi, Randi, Randi, Tennessee IS NOT west of the Mississippi!!!!
Posted by Denise – March 11, 2008 3:29 PM
Okay...so it doesn't sound like Globe, Az...I was thinking Tortilla Flat...boardwalk in the town...BBQ there in town...oh well...there are Arches around the area...Roosevelt lake has an arch...but I don't think they have a bay...whew...this is getting hard...

well one of the partner cities of Paris (city of lights) is san francisco and the dice on the monopoly board look like they could be a 3,4,5 translated to 39 as in Pier 39...also san fran hosts the aloha festival...the clues are adding up!
Posted by kelly – March 11, 2008 3:38 PM
Hey while looking up Discovery Bay, CA, I found that it had many "mini" communities there. "Mini" was a scrabble word. But what would that have to do with a journey to the City of lights? It has to be Las Vegas or Reno. There are boardwalks at Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and maybe even Truckee.
UGGGHHHHH!!!!! I can't wait until Sunday!!!

And looking further, near Ogden, Utah, there is a small town called West Haven. There there is a display called Utah's Northern Lights.

Perhaps it is just my desire for the house to be near here, but it sounds good to me :o)
I am anxious to read more posts....
Posted by Renee D – March 11, 2008 3:46 PM
I might be wrong, but I'm still sticking to LAKE OZARK, MISSOURI, because I think that would be a beautiful spot for a dream home. City of Lights = Paris. There is a Paris, Missouri. Bay = Thunder Bay Resort Lodging in the Ozark Mountains. I HOPE THAT IT IS LAKE OZARK AND THE OZARK MOUNTAINS. They are gorgeous, tranquil and so relaxing!!

Fcole: good to here from you.
How about Birch Bay, WA
Posted by Chris F. – March 11, 2008 3:47 PM
Along with Paris, Las Vegas is known as the city of lights and you could take a trip there very easily if your new dream home was located at Lake Tahoe, maybe on the California side where you will find Carnelian Bay.
Posted by Linda – March 11, 2008 3:52 PM
I was so excited to get home and read the clue and blogs. Well, City of Lights is Paris, I searched for a Paris in CA and WA, didn't find anything. Also Bay immediately made me think of San Francisco. (Like a lot of other people.) Then my mind leapt from FRANCE to FRANCISCO. It's awesome that you are answering our questions on this fcole. Another thought, Linda told us about that beautiful area in Bellingham, well that is on Bellingham Bay!
Oh, fcole, I can't stand it, give us another clue. Thank you for eliminating Nevada and Arizona. Do you LOVE your job?? I would!
Posted by Mary – March 11, 2008 3:52 PM
L. Smith got it yesterday with their posting. It will be in LA's south bay area, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhatten beaches and boardwalks. Theres Plenty of Horse Country. Sequaya and big bear forest aren't far. They have indian casinos too, but vegas is only 4-5 hour away
Posted by annie – March 11, 2008 3:57 PM
My guess still stands for Long Beach,WA or the Willapa Bay area. "Bay" could be considered so general as there are many bays on the Washington coast. I am also interested in Silver Beach, WA along Rimrock Lake....hmmm
Posted by Reba – March 11, 2008 3:59 PM
Santa Monica Bay, Los Angeles, Hollywood
Posted by Mark – March 11, 2008 3:59 PM
Fcole, does anyone from the Dream Home Team ever post under an alias, like our fearless hardworking Jack Thomasson?
(I know Jack reads the blogs. If he's sneaking in some comments using an alias, it's news to me. I'll ask him. fc)
Posted by IlDhomes – March 11, 2008 3:59 PM
Well, since Nevada was definitely eliminated...We're guessing Anchorage, Alaska. Pacific, Bay, "city of Lights and Flowers"...
Posted by Brian – March 11, 2008 3:59 PM
I've got it. Paris, Idaho. In Bear Lake Valley(Scrabble words lake, cove). Founded by the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Scrabble word prayer). On the border of Utah and Idaho.
Am I getting better or guessing wilder by the minute? :-)
Posted by tina from missouri – March 11, 2008 4:00 PM
Can you also eliminate Alaska...?
(Are you kidding? Alaska's a huge state, one of the biggest I'm sure. And it's full of bears. it'd take a lot more than one puny blog editor to eliminate all of Alaska. fc)
Posted by nonnii – March 11, 2008 4:00 PM
Too many clues work for Odgen, Utah. Now with this new clues of "BAY" and "Journey to the city of lights"! Willard Bay and have you see Salt Lake City during Christmas now that is a "journey"
Posted by Dave – March 11, 2008 4:01 PM
It's Anchorage! Wow, I hope they incorporate Jack London!

Posted by Larry – March 11, 2008 4:05 PM
Well, there is a Paris, Utah....?
(Really? I mean, most every state has a "Paris," so I wouldn't be surprised. But Google's not finding "Paris Utah." Now watch, I'm gonna get a hundred comments from the good people of Paris, Utah. fc)
Posted by nonnii – March 11, 2008 4:07 PM
Also Santa Monica or Beverly Hills
Posted by Mark – March 11, 2008 4:08 PM
According to clues 1-7 that are "specific and clear" these are the states that are still in the running for DH 2009, it also excludes the recent elimination of Nevada and Arizona.
Alaska
Arkansas
California
Hawaii
Iowa
Idaho
Kansas
Louisiana
Minnesota
Missouri
Montana
North Dakota
Nebraska
New Mexico
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Utah
Washington
Fcole, Feel free to eliminate some more states. wink, wink.
(Not South Dakota, or North Dakota. Oklahoma sounds interesting, so does Nebraska. And Utah! How cool would that be? But I've got to save something for Friday's clue. fc)

I HAVE A CONCERN, PLEASE ANSWER ASAP. Where are my Comments/Answers for the DT Home Givaway for 2009. I submited 2 AT different times thinking that the first one had been over looked and had not posted even as of yet Today MT now is 1:45 PM Tuesday March 11, 2008. Each time they were sumbmited I did get a conformation on each one that they would be posted. But they still are not I hope I am doing this correctly. How long should I wait to see my comments postedbb? I noticed that some of the other comments were posted from the same name within a few minute time frame on the same exact day. I played the 2008 dream home sweeps daily and never had this problem.
Thanks So Much
Donna C
Just in case they are lost in outer space One of my answer is The Potamac River/Basin, which is between Virgina and Maryland (Greenry) this makes the 3 dice clues very uderstandable now. The monopoly game was an increddible way to use, as a geographic direction. The scrabble clues were great as well. I read almost all of the responces from the participints, before making any firm decisions on the two I thought it was.
George Washington and Wahsington D.C.(District of Columbia) would be the same name as in a city and state. George WA grew up there at the Potomac which is better known as the peoples Nations the people would trade their goods. Harvesting was huge as well as meats and crabs, lobsters, claims. I hope this will get posted today.

City of lights could be many places, Vages, Teledo Bend lake on the Texas and Louisana border, San francisco, there is a design company named City of Lights,There is also a theater group called City of Lights out in San Jose, I'm lost, I guess I'm still clueless.
Posted by Vickie – March 11, 2008 4:19 PM
WOW, this is neat, I don't think I've ever been on here at the same time as FC. However I do wish FC was "watching ME" from across the street, cause you know what that would mean.
(Actually, it would just mean you live in Knoxville. I'm not part of the team that tracks down the winner. fc)

I still think it's near Santa Cruz (Monterey Bay) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Bays_of_California

Maybe San Francisco Bay area.
Posted by Vicki – March 11, 2008 4:26 PM
OK..........this time I've got it!!!
IT'S LAKE MEAD, ARIZONA. Lake Mead is in Nevada and Arizona.
The clues are general right.....it says take a JOURNEY to the city of lights......not IN a city of lights......If you lived in Lake Mead, AZ, it is feasible to drive to Las Vegas to visit.
This would include casino, lake, bay, mountain zone, cove.....haven't figured out the connection to the monopoly board though.
Posted by tina from missouri – March 11, 2008 4:26 PM
Fairfield, Ca

Alaska.....Anchorage the City of Lights and Flowers? Hum......
Has anyone named the state and location yet?

I wonder if BAY refers to an ocean bay, or a lake bay?
Posted by nonnii – March 11, 2008 4:47 PM
ItIt is at Toro Bay on Toledo Bend
REservior, near Many, Louisiana.
Many, LA is about 45 minutes
from Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Posted by Sandra – March 11, 2008 4:52 PM
The clues are so vague, it could still be anywhere. There must be a million bays in the US, and there are mountains almost everywhere too. But, seriously, I don't think it will be in California, ever. Do you know how much it costs to build a house in CA?? But this is fun anyway. Keep those clues coming!!!
Posted by Sandie – March 11, 2008 4:52 PM
Until today I've had several areas in mind but now I am leaning more towards San Francisco Bay area. Not sure if it's relevant "take a journey to the city of lights" however, the first thing that came to mind was the band "Journey" and the song "lights" which referred to San Francisco Bay. Yes, Las Vegas is also referenced as the "city of lights" as well as, the "city of lights festival" in Louisiana. Looking forward to the next clue!
Posted by angela – March 11, 2008 4:54 PM
Bremerton,Washington
Posted by Becky – March 11, 2008 4:59 PM
Paris, Idaho or Coeur d’Alene, Idaho - there is an arch in the area.
Posted by Karen – March 11, 2008 5:00 PM
Ok, after reading "most" of the comments and reviewing the clues, My guess is still Santa Cruz CA (although I wish it had been in AZ). It sits between LA and Sanfrancisco. Go to Santa Cruz county web site and see how it looks like the video. I think Evan J had all the right clues.
Posted by Beth – March 11, 2008 5:00 PM
I still say all clues so far point to Washington. (And I'm sticking to my guess until something convinces me otherwise.)
Posted by Colorado Dreamin' – March 11, 2008 5:01 PM
Monterey of San fransisco =D
Posted by Morgan W – March 11, 2008 5:05 PM
Last guess today.......South Lake Tahoe, CALIFORNIA. Timbercove has a boardwalk. Driving distance from Reno, journey to city of lights; includes lots of scrabble words(diving, cove, bay, mountain zone, casino, silver, they filmed TV show Bonanza there, lifeboat, lake, sailing(knot)on lake, windy, ... There is Heavenly Ski Resort(scrabble word prayer),
TOTALLY where HGTV would build a dream home. They would consider this an ideal spot. Thousands of people vacation there.
Maybe the "O" and "L" from Monopoly not only means boardwalk but On Lake.....ok that's stretching it a little, but this is soooooo fun.
'til later!!!
Posted by tina from missouri – March 11, 2008 5:06 PM
Okay, I got it. It's Natchitoches, LA. What's my prize????
Posted by Sandie – March 11, 2008 5:10 PM
So, seems we are heading to Washington or California now.
I don't get the "journey through the city of lights"...unless you want us to go south from San Francisco (definitely has the city lights) on the Pacific Coast Highway, maybe around the Monterey Bay area - so how about Pacific Grove, CA?
Del Monte Forest community (tomato) nearby and it is the place where John Denver (music) was killed in a plane crash. Also close to Pebble Beach (the BIG green)
Aghhhhhhh......you can take these clues anywhere!

I'm wondering if ya'll are trying to throw us a curve here with the word "BAY" it just seams to easy for it to mean just "BAY" maybe the letters B.A.Y. mean something else like an abbreviation or initials, just a thought.
(That's an interesting thought. I mean, "BAY" could mean anything. Could be this:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000881/
But probably not. fc)

ok. I said my previous guess was the last one for the day.
But, I really think I have it this time. Ironically, I'm back in the same area as my first guess days ago. Well, sort of. Across the valley and into the mountains going from Nevada to California.
The clues say go for the GREEN. I think it is South Lake Tahoe in CALIFORNIA. Somewhere near Emerald Island or is it Fanette Island and Emerald Bay State Park. This uses the word bay.........ignore the boardwalk from monopoly, just go for the green, follow the money, the money is near the green. The expression "on the money" means something is correct. So it is on the green.
It is near Emerald Bay State Park in South Lake Tahoe, California.
Posted by tina from missouri – March 11, 2008 5:50 PM
I am going for somewhere in Washington. Remember all the past houses have been in remote locations, so CA is out. Definitely near water, with all the scrabble clues. Washington has the ocean, mountains, rain, wind ,sun, wheat and apples are grown there. Any state with Indian reservations would likely have casinos. Anxiously awaiting the next clue
Posted by nan – March 11, 2008 5:52 PM
I think Floyd might have the answer with the song by Journey, and I'm a big Journey fan and missed it altogether. In fact, Lights is a song that is one of my husband and my favorites because it's about our favorite city, San Francisco. Dream House 2009 must be in California, but I don't think it will be in San Francisco, but nearby.
Posted by Linda – March 11, 2008 5:53 PM
It is Lanana Bay at Toledo Bend Reservor
near Many, Louisiana. We have a
City of Lights too!

fc -- Seems that you & the rest of HGTV are having a lot of fun with the "clue" game that the DH MB started years ago.
Guess you all decided that if you couldn't stop the MBers that you'd join (& one-up, too).
(This is indeed a lot of fun, thanks to you guys! fc)
Posted by adele – March 11, 2008 5:57 PM
fcole, thanks for the further eliminations, but why don't you do something CRAZY, like eliminating one of our Big Three (California, Washington or Utah). Everyone on this blog would be so grateful. :)
Posted by Mary – March 11, 2008 6:04 PM
According to clues 1-7 that are "specific and clear" these are the states that are still in the running for DH 2009, it also excludes the recent elimination of Nevada, Arizona, North and South Dakota, Montana, Kansas, and Minnesota.
Alaska
Arkansas
California
Hawaii
Iowa
Idaho
Louisiana
Missouri
Nebraska
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Utah
Washington
Fcole, Will you eliminate some more before Friday?
Thank you for the fun today.

"when the lights go down in the city, and the sun shines on the bay..." I guess San Francisco, becuase of the song.
Posted by justme – March 11, 2008 6:05 PM
Um, in case you didn't notice, one of the scrabble boards had Aloha and Falls, each word missing an L. Wouldn't that say Hawaii? C'mon now, anyone would have a dream home there!!!
Posted by Jane – March 11, 2008 6:09 PM
I think San Fran. is too obvious. Since everything is different this year, could HGTV be giving a Dream Time Share, so you can go anywhere
you choose. Maybe a winnebago for road trips. My last thought MN. hometown of Joan Steffend

There was a posts under clue 6 near the end, that indicates there will be more clues on House Hunters on Thursday 13th at 10:00 pm, is that for real?
Posted by ILDhomes – March 11, 2008 6:10 PM
I still think it is either the Big Island or Oahu, Hawaii.

Hey Suzinn, about all those vacuum cleaners featured in the photos. I'm thinking it probably has something to do with Bissell being a sponsor of the Dream Home.

San Francisco held the World's Fair in 1939 at Treasure Island; there is also an Angel Island, which was known as Ellis Island West.

This clue has not changed my mind, all it did was reinforce it because South BAY in Long Beach and HOLLYWOOD (City of lights-when originally erected the sign has 1000's of light bulbs)
I believe the location still is VERMONT CANYON ROAD or NORTH VERMONT AVENUE 90027 in the HOLLYWOOD area of Los Angeles, California.
The neighborhoods are Los Feliz, Franklin Hills, East Hollywood and Griffith Park. In the zip 90027 you have an area of mountains that looks just like the view in Jack's video. (see Google Earth).
The clues lead to Los Angeles County, Disneyland, Knots Berry Farm(KBF), Parkers Lighthouse, Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, Silver Lake, the Los Angelas Sunflower, the Griffith Park Zoo and Observatory, Hollywood, the Greek Theater on Vermont Canyon Road and Crystal Springs Drive. Some of the clues are:
knot (KBF) silver bullet coarter
Silver Lake
sunflower(LA sunflower)
mini and wish and arch(Disney)
stars( Griffith Observatory and Hollywood)
zebra and pony rides(Griffith Park Zoo)
boardwalk (Long Beach and KBF has one)
BBQ (KBF has one and one of Long Beaches Restaurants on the Boardwalk has a Korean BBQ)
music (Greek Theater)
mountain (space mountain or where Hollywood sign is, Mt. Hollywood))
casino and aloha (Hawaiian Gardens casino)
road (Vermont)
golden ticket (American Idol -ticket to Hollywood)
Pacific, sand, sun, palm(no explanation necessary)
HOLLYWOOD HERE WE COME!!!!

I think I'll stay with Apple Cove Point, Kingston, WA in the Puget Sound or Long Beach Peninsula, WA on the Willapa Bay side of the peninsula. Another could be Tulalip Bay on Hat Island in the Puget Sound west of Everett, WA.

its CA from the clues before.in the video it showed forest but when the camera moved a bit I saw city and it has not been there ever.I guess it could be Hawaii. And I want to know am i the only kid on this blog?

My guess since the beginning is Hawaii. Each clue seems to confirm that. I think it's mountains not mountain zone. One of the words on the scrabble board is Aloha. It has a blank in the word so it's not obvious at first.
Posted by vickie – March 11, 2008 6:48 PM
I am Sticking with UTAH
Because from my previous post all the clues lead to UTAH This last Clue City of lights and the photo of the word BAY and the towels hummmmm well there is Willard Bay State Park then there is this little tidbit of info If you're a Salt Lake City resident, being crimson or blue doesn't describe your political affiliation. It's the color of loyalty to either BYU or the University of Utah. then there is this little TIDBIT a photographer David C. Schultz.
Has a studio
West Light Images gallery in Park City, Utah,

ILDHomes ~ Why are your posts followed by statements from

I'm not buying it :)
(OK, don't buy it. fc)

WOW! This is almost as much fun as guessing the DH09 location. The dialog between Dhomes (Dream Homes?) and fcole. Will the REAL fcole please stand up....., And then you answered nonnii (Jack?) three times and Angelo once. As editor of the posts I know you do have the opportunity to insert your comments. But are other clever bloggers just having fun? If you are for real, please put a comment in one of my statements.
As to the BAY clue, I had a gut feeling the first time I saw it in the Entertainment Room, it would be a clue for the next DH location. And thanks to ReneeD, I will stick to my choice of UTAH.
Pleasant dreams to the HGTV staff, and especialy to you, FCOLE, the REAL one.

Hope your are sending the crew to Redding CA to surpise our family! Good luck to all!!!
(Hi Ella. Sorry, your husband's right. I'm a big goofy boy. And I've worked for HGTV for about eight years. The job is indeed fun. And I am not a part of the crew that surprises the winner, so I have no idea where they've headed. fc)

Journey (the band) is from San Francisco and they wrote the song mentioned in an earlier post (Lights). At first I thought it had to be San Francisco but an earlier post pointed out that the clues were only meant to give us a general location. So... I am going with my son's (Evan J.) guess of Santa Cruz since it is very close to San Francisco and fits so many of the other clues. Besides, as my son likes to point out, he's always right :)
Posted by Deb – March 11, 2008 7:11 PM
How about around the McCall-Donnelly area in Idaho?
There's two big lakes, ski resorts, nice little towns but still rurul. I would say Couer d'Alane but that's in the pacific time zone. oh yes there is a strong Hawaii-Idaho connection. I also believe in one of the scrabble board clues, lined up in a players stand in the word ada. Which is the name of the county that Boise is located in. But the word is not clear. Idaho also has a sea port, silver is still mined here and we do have a Paris that sits on a big lake. Wool was a big industry here, there is Twin Falls (that's very windy), Sun Valley, famous music festivals, and some pretty good punters too. Am I close?
Posted by Vicki – March 11, 2008 7:12 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen........I'm sure I'm right and this is why. My previous guess of California, near Emerald Bay State Park uses ALL the clues given so far.
Clue 1 - never been a home in California
Clue 2 - globe shows Pacific coast and California
Cule 3 - uses mountain, knot, windy, dive, casino, silver
Clue 4 - uses cove, fun, lifeboat, lake, sand
Clue 5 - California is WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI
Clue 6 - follow the money: if you look for the money it is near the green, Pacific Avenue for Pacific Ocean, California is on the Pacific Coast AND go for the green, Emerald Bay State Park. Lake Tahoe gets its name for the color of the water----it is a turquoise green. You can see 75 feet below the surface, the water is so clear and green. They wouldn't have named it Emerald Bay State Park if it was any other color. green, green, green; and maybe since the dice were on the O and L it means it is "O"n the "L"ake.
Clue 7 - If you are there, Emerald Bay State Park, it is a journey to the city of lights. You have a beautiful drive around Lake Tahoe and through Mt. Rose to get to Reno where there are lights and casinos and silver mining in the whole region...; Also the word BAY in the 2008 home; Emerald BAY in Emerald Bay State Park.
And the geography looks just like the video of Jack: pine trees, steep slope, little ponds or lakes in the backgroud.
This is a dreamy spot. The dream homes have always been in spots where people vacation. There is so much to do in this area or within a very reasonable driving distance, such as sailing, diving, ride on the Ms Dixie II which goes around Fanette island in Emerald Bay, snow skiing, gambling, canoeing, shop in truckee, go to Squaw Valley, zip line, sandy beaches along the shore, golf, river rafting, jet ski, gondola rides, fishing and the list goes on and on and on...
Whew!!! Am I going to feel like a fool if I'm wrong.
Is there anywhere else that ALL the clues are so relevant?
Funny........I don't care if I'm right.....I just want to win this year in Florida or next year, wherever it may be.
P. S. I can't watch House Hunters Thursday night. Look for Banners of the things I mentioned.
If the 2009 Dream Home is NOT there, then the 2010 Dream Home should be. :-)

Being torn between Puget Sound, Washington and Natchitoches, Louisiana I'd like to know, have I missed somehow, somewhere the contest rules and the prize?

Anyway am guessing either Bodega Bay, San Fran or could still be Hawaii, alot of Bays there...
Ok you got me hooked on the clues tyvm fcole lol.

The 2009 Dream Home will be in San Francisco area. Come on the clue in the entertainment room of the 2008 Dream Home says BAY. That's the only place that I can think of where there is a BAY area.
Out of reach for me. Doubt that I will even enter next year. I don't win anything anyway. Nice dream though. Good luck to those that do enter next year.
And, Congratulations to the winner of this years Dream Home.

Fcole how late will your be working/joining us today? Will you come back and play tomorrow? How about eliminating Louisiana from the choices of the next HGTV dream home? That will still leave 9 states to give clues on!!!
(It's 8pm Knoxville time, so I probably won't be hanging around much longer tonight. I'll try to pop in a couple of times tomorrow. And I would be very surprised if HGTV Dream Home 2009 was in Louisiana. fc)

The clue "Bay" would be a bald one, throwing all bloggers off as if refferring to "S. Francisco".
The Internet video from the 2009 site, very much looked like Washington (State). How about Seattle?????

I think it is Alaska. Nome and the northern lights.
Posted by Ronnie Keith – March 11, 2008 8:49 PM
I think it may be Missouri because:
Mo BBQ company, The Gateway Arch, Garrett's Exotic Animal Ranch (Zebra), The Boardwalk, and it is known as the "Home of the Blues".
These are just some of them it matches many of the other clues. It will be very intersting to find out. GOOD Luck All

Reading and looking at all the clues my guess is around santa cruz ca not in the city but close enough there is an area called scotts valley just north of santa cruz and south of the san francisco bay if you see in the monopoly board boardwalk seems to be the clue and they love to put the home in an area that is little known you will also see in the first scrabble board mention of beef this is also an area that boasts about they'er all natural organically grown beef cows so why not scotts valley.

San Francisco. The clue is "Journey to the City of Lights" and "Bay". In the song "Lights" by the band Journey the lyrics are "When the lights go down in the city...and the sun shines on the bay...the city by the bay". That song was written about San Fran and that's where the band is from. Done.

Fcole, this was posted under clue 6 towards the end of blog, Is this post from you?
note from fcole: The above dummy post (or dummy's post, as the case may be) is imbedded with another Tuesday clue to the location of the 2009 Dream Home. It is the most specific and exciting clue yet. Also, on the Thursday, March 13th 10pm EST edition of Househunters, we have invited Rodney Ainsworth to run through a scene in the show with a banner emblazoned with the actual location of the 2009 Dream Home. The name of the person who successfully guesses the 2009 location will be announced on the show and awarded a special prize-- a custom-made sterling silver scrabble board, handcrafted by artisans from Islamorada, Florida. So tune in Thursday night, and also on Sunday March 16th at 9PM EST for the 2008 Dream Home Special!)

Google "City of Lights by the Bay" and you'll get San Francisco.
Personally I would prefer Santa Cruz, Ca or the big green "Emerald Bay" on Lake Tahoe.
But I am rethinking Alaska at the moment as well. Especially since fcole made a specific point of NOT excluding it! It certainly would be a JOURNEY to see those LIGHTS!!!

What about Park City, Utah?
OK - City of Lights is Paris -may refer to Paris Casino in Vegas - but I still think UTAH. The PARIS is a Hilton hotel in Utah.
Bay and Boardwalk go with Santa Cruz or Monterey, CA - but too expensive. There are 'Bays' in Utah. Farmington Bay, Ogden Bay. East Bay.
from monopoly clue:
There is a HOUSE on Boardwalk.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes Boardwalk, Near ZION -

I would have to say it is Seattle, WA for sure, since people from Seattle are referred to as Seattle lights. The place is light up 24/7 and it is surrounded by a number of bays, but you never know!!!

Well "Journey" could be the band
"When the lights go down in the city
And the sun shines on the bay
I want to be there in my city" = San Fran
San Fran +$$$=HGTV must be doing very well if they build a house in or near San Fran

Deb and Tina from Missouri.
Why are you not guessing Lake of the Ozarks, MO?
After all, there is the ARCH, close to Silver Dollar City, it's the bible belt-PRAYER and plenty of wheat?

I stick with following the green. If I tell on this blog page and I am right, what do I get? I doubt if I can get in my call on Sunday night with millions of callers.

When I was visiting The Big Island of Hawaii,
I saw plenty of falling stars. BEAUTIFUL!!!
My WISHes all came true. For real!!!!
Instead of golfing, maybe I can make some money at the near by Casino. What do you think?

Golden ticket could also be a perfect reference to Alaska with it's own gold rush, Tina from missouri.
And, emerald, that video could have just as easily have been filmed in MI...or just about any other State. P.S. Utah does have casinos...if you count BINGO clubs. LOL
Wherever the DH 2009 is it will be fun to see when it's revealed.

Between Texas and Louisiana ? There is a "city of Lights" there and a large body of water.. :)

My guess it is Alaska, near Anchorage-Homer! From the first clue, Alaska popped into my head! I am scrapping Idaho- Washington & Bainbridge Island area are still in the hunt. Anyway- I keep searching and finding beautiful places and locations!

I think the next HGTV Dream Home "2009" is going to be in "HOLLYWOOD"!!!

What board are you playing on? An old skate board or a new ski board? I like the Boardwalk.
Hey, Adam! go golfing. You'll lose your money at the casino and read the paper later. It's old news now.

Los Angeles is the city that has always been called the City of Lights.
Posted by Jennifer Werther – March 12, 2008 10:42 AM
Well, after a little research, I am thinking that the 2009 Dream Home could very well be in the Pioneer "Square" (from the Washington Square sign you showed on House Hunters) District of Seattle Washington. Which is near Elliott "Bay", Fort Lawton and Pike "Place" Market. This area also has a "James" Street. This is fun! Thank you for doing this for us.

How about San Francisco? (4th pick)
On the BAY
Beach towels for the many Beaches
The silent movie CITY of LIGHTS was filmed in San Francisco and they have a US Mint
Golden (ticket) Gate Bridge although they forgot clues like, cold, wet, foggy and rainy (lived there)cable cars.
I still like San Diego, (1st)pick
Mission Beach BOARDWALK
Mission BAY Park
La Jolla COVE
Old GLOBE Theater
Utah (2nd pick) and Lake Tahoe (3rd pick) looks good too, but no BAY
Only HGTV knows.
I just enjoy being a (wrong) amature detective

Having scrutinized the 'Dummy post' (March 11th, I thought of several clues that might have been embedded:
Becky from Napa - Napa, CA?
Then a really wild guess from the Grassy Knoll - Grassy Knoll Lane in Rancho Santa Margarita, Ca where 'Real Housewives' was filmed?
But since I am so focused on San Jose area, I think 'laptop' might be an embedded word since 'Apple' is in Cupertino nearby.

OK..... CA or WA... but the mountain zone clue may NOT be the time zone... There are some wonderful sites in northern CA that have mountains and are by the bay. Ok... IF it is CA expect MAJOR money to be forked over. That state is too expensive. I hope it is WA. ( Alaska would be wonderful too )

Utah is home to some of the greatest ski resorts you will ever want to visit! Check out Park City, Park West, Deer Valley, Alta, Brighton...to name a few...remember the winter Olympics? As to casinos...30 minutes to Mesquite, less than two hours to Las Vegas, and 2 hours to Wendover (from the closest big towns). Remember that we are playing HGTV's keep away game. They have the info and they're just letting get closer.
The 435 (Ventura Ave.) will still take you to Hollywood though!

City of Lights was very famous Charlie Chaplin movie - filmed in San Francisco!

Hi HGTV Team,
The more I view the 2008 Home the more I realize what an exceptional job everyone has done. The colors/decorating/location/ this is one of your best yet. But sorry, to day I still don't know where you're going. So I'm glued until............we find out.
Posted by Eli – March 12, 2008 11:24 AM
It could be Toledo Bend or Natchitoches , Louisiana. Natchitoches has a City of Lights festival along the Cane Lake River every Dec-Jan.The words prayer and grief would also fit Louisiana. The word cane was also on one of the scrabble boards.
Posted by Teresa – March 12, 2008 11:26 AM
I still think it is Gulfshores, AL
Posted by DEBI – March 12, 2008 11:27 AM
It has to be in someplace where there's alot of pine trees.
Becuz from looking at the small video clip of the next dream
home location. Washington State it is!

LAND FORMATIONS
I sang this song in grade school...'OH do you know the muffin man..the muffin man...the muffin...man...
But we changed it to, 'Oh do you know your land formations.. your land formations... your land formations.....all around the world....there's islands, inlets, BAYs and coves, isthmus, archipelago..
