HGTV Dream Home

Clue #6: We've Got a Monopoly on Clues

Posted by fcole – March 7, 2008 4:29 PM

Here's today's clue to the location of the next HGTV Dream Home. I've just added a new image to the slide show of the children's bedroom in the HGTV Dream Home in Islamorada. Flip through the images and look for the Monopoly game set up on one of the beds. And you know when playing Monopoly, it's all about making money and going for the big green.

Remember to watch the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2008 special on Sunday, March 16, at 9pm ET/6pm PT when we announce the winner of the gorgeous home in the Florida Keys on live television! Remember, we'll also be giving away a trip for two to Islamorada to a lucky home viewer during the special. Check the official rules page for the home viewer prize for more information.

Check back Tuesday for another clue, and have a great weekend everyone!

The only fitting address for Dream Home is on Broadway, or at least Park Place.

I was first it just didn't post my post quickly!!!!!!!!!!

Slow computers!!!!!!!!

Posted by giggly – March 7, 2008 4:53 PM

Why are there three die on the board? The one in the O on MONOPOLY looks photoshopped in. I still have no idea what that means; I was just pointing it out.

Posted by Wendy – March 7, 2008 4:58 PM

Please tell us who won the Dream Home 2008? I'm dying to find out and I cannot wait another minute... Please tell the person who won so all us(Me & my fiance) loosers can move on with our lives. Please! Please! Please!

Posted by erin – March 7, 2008 4:58 PM

It's going to be built in California!!!

Posted by Marty Schick – March 7, 2008 5:00 PM

Since when are there three dice in Monopoly? Isn't there just two?

Posted by Terry – March 7, 2008 5:10 PM

I believe that the next HGTV Dream Home will be in Cumberland Cove, Tennessee based on the scrabble and monopoly clues. The words mountain and cove on seen in scrabble and the Tennessee monopoly card is in the forefront of the picture.

Posted by Michele – March 7, 2008 5:12 PM

My answer is North Carolina or South Carolina.

Posted by Yajaira Vasquez – March 7, 2008 5:13 PM

Pacific Avenue.....So the DH 09 is on or has a view of the Pacific!

Posted by njgal – March 7, 2008 5:15 PM

My guess is Orcas Island, Washington.

Posted by Karen Hunt – March 7, 2008 5:24 PM

The only "house" on the Monopoly board is on Vermont Avenue.

Posted by Mnobles – March 7, 2008 5:45 PM

The next Dream House will be in Nevada Las Vegas.

Posted by Mike Tiano – March 7, 2008 5:48 PM

Hope it's me, And good luck to whom every!!

Posted by Eloyce Robinson – March 7, 2008 5:54 PM

I can only make out Broadway and Park Place!

Posted by Ginger – March 7, 2008 5:54 PM

My guess, Boardwalk is the clue and with that I still say California.

Posted by Angie – March 7, 2008 6:01 PM

Just a guess but i think it is going to be in Washington state.

Posted by Brian – March 7, 2008 6:03 PM

Pacific Avenue in Washington. Its around Tacoma.

Posted by Zach – March 7, 2008 6:16 PM

Dear HGTV, I have to say you are making me sad by having to revisit the rooms of DH08 to find the clues because I love that home so much. I could so happily live in the KID'S BEDROOM, grab a sketch pad and some crayons go through the sliding door to the Patio and draw the beautiful scene before me. Oh, the CLUE. I saw the board, but these old eyes just couldn't see enough to make any sense. If I were younger, I would grab my Monopoly game and try to recreate what is pictured. The best I can make out, someone has landed on Broadway or Park Place, and it has a hotel? on it. The token seems to be a hat, and the owner of those dark blue cards seem to be "you". The player on the left shows a $l.00 bill. And I seem to see THREE dice on the board. Can anyone help me out with this? Love you all, good luck and pleasant dreams.
Just an after thought, PARK again. Hmmm?

Posted by Katydid – March 7, 2008 6:22 PM

Big green in Monopoly is Pennsylvania Ave. The dice near the property on the board in the picture total 9 - as in '09 maybe...?

Posted by Dale – March 7, 2008 6:23 PM

The Big Green could mean there will be a large Golf course by the Boardwalk (ocean).

Posted by Ildhomes – March 7, 2008 6:25 PM

I don't get the 3 dice? Is it the address 354 Boardwalk Dr? The monopoly board is modeled after Streets in Atlantic City, NJ and created by a guy from Germantown, PA in 1935. But if the house is in the Mountain time zone (from the scrabble game) it couldn't be Las Vegas.

Posted by Kim – March 7, 2008 6:31 PM

some of you need to look at a map, since when are tennessee and the carolinas west of the mississippi?

Posted by Denise – March 7, 2008 6:32 PM

Fcole, My guess in Mount Vernon, WA. There is a house on Vermont Ave and a die on the word "ON" in the word MONOPOLY. All the clues point to Washington State... Peace 'Arch' Bridge, apple, rain, mountain, etc...

I live close to Lake of the Ozark right now, and the clues point more to WA state.

Posted by Chris F. – March 7, 2008 6:38 PM

How about Annapolis, Maryland. Is that the Thomas Point Lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay and sailboats in the photo would fit the Annapolis guess.

Posted by Geri Parkinson – March 7, 2008 6:39 PM

I don't know if the this is a clue or not but the 3 dice show a 2 then a 3 then a 2. maybe this is the address.

Posted by Riley – March 7, 2008 6:40 PM

I think tennessee

Posted by tyra dachdee – March 7, 2008 6:41 PM

I still say Anacortes or Fidalgo Island Washington state.

Posted by suz – March 7, 2008 6:43 PM

Hint: Tennessee is NOT WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI River! Neither are North/South Carolina. If you consider all of the clues, clearly the home is somewhere out west!

Posted by Darryl – March 7, 2008 6:43 PM

I think the reference to the Monopoly board may be dice and gambling, "making money and going for the big green". Mountains (from the first scrabble board) of Nevada (silver state)--Lake Tahoe!! Scrabble clues: lifeboat, cove, lake.

Posted by Lucky Wun – March 7, 2008 6:45 PM

I still think it's somewhere near Apple Cove Point (Kingston, WA area)or Dry Falls, WA

Posted by Jandi – March 7, 2008 6:50 PM

I think that the location of the dream house has something to do with Sunflowers because in the scrabble boards it said sunflowers and that is a pretty big and random word just to throw in there. So I either think it is Arkansas because their state flower is the sunflower or the street name or place has to do with sunflowers. I don't know it is just a guess and it seems like anything is possible.
Good Luck to everyone and me. I want this house more than anything for me and my family. I hope though that whoever gets it will be very thankful and excited. I can't wait to see the look on the winners face..... Hopefully it will be my face!!!!

Posted by Riley – March 7, 2008 6:51 PM

The Pacific coast of Mexico

Posted by Ron Godfrey – March 7, 2008 6:51 PM

hmmm...well the last two clues took all but three of my states out of the running. So I am now left with IA, UT,and CA. Pacific Avenue? Hmm...Could it be WA? Now the research begins!:)Do all previous clues combined with the last two clues bring us closer to any one state? I'll be back.

Posted by Devin – March 7, 2008 6:54 PM

My best guess is Santa Cruz California here are the reasons that I think so .

http://www.beachboardwalk.com/ if you go to this website you will see Boardwalk which you see on the "Monopoly Clue" on the top right of this website you will also see a Golden Ticket

http://www.athanasius.com/camission/cruz.htm in the 3rd paragraph down under "mission life" you will see the records of the agricultural life which includes Grain, Oxen and Beef which are all named in the scrabble clue

I also remember from high school that northern california is known to be a mountainous region and also known for sunflowers Santa Cruz is also known for it's Silver Mountain Blues Festival and Music was also a Clue

Posted by Evan J – March 7, 2008 6:56 PM

Dice.... Las Vegas!! That is my guess!

Posted by The Beez – March 7, 2008 7:01 PM

Mount Vernon, WA. another clue leading to this guess...'GLOBE'...a globe of the world by George Adam, London map maker 1790. used by George Washington is now in the museum in Mt. Vernon. The globe has been in George Washington's study since his death in Dec. 14, 1799.

Please tell me if I am wrong so I can keep searching.

Posted by Chris F. – March 7, 2008 7:01 PM

Could the die mean 35.4 degrees on the globe? That would be around the Southwestern part of the US. Which would be Utah or Northern Arizona.Hmmmm?
Probably reading way too much into this clue!! I still think Washington State.

Posted by Kim – March 7, 2008 7:09 PM

It's SEATTLE, WASHINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Angie – March 7, 2008 7:15 PM

A thought...it could be west of the Mississippi and east of the Pacific. If Mtn Time Zone is truly relevant, then Wasington state would be ruled out.
States in the Mtn. Time zone are Idaho, Montana, part of North and South Dakota, Utah, part of Nebraska, Arizona, New Mexico, and a small area in Kansas. I did not list states where a house has already been built.

I'm leaning toward Montana at this moment...and also Kansas near the Ark. River, if Mtn. Zone is to be considered.

Posted by Judy Manley – March 7, 2008 7:28 PM

I am guessing Hawaii! I saw "aloha" on the scrabble board and it would be west of the Mississippi.

Posted by LJ – March 7, 2008 7:30 PM

iALSO TENNESSEE HAS 9 LETTERS AS

2009 DREAM HOME!!!

Posted by Judy Manley – March 7, 2008 7:33 PM

OK, this is just a guess. But I am guessing Hawaii. One of the scrabble clues was aloha. From the monopoly game, there is Pacific Avenue. Looking at the video, I can see lush green pine trees on a mountainside. There are plenty of places on the Hawaiian islands where you can see lush green pine trees on a mountainside. If Hawaii is wrong, (and I'm hoping it's not, because my dream is to live there someday and, hey, with this contest, there's always a million to one chance...) then I am thinking somewhere close to water- either on the Pacific Northwest coast or else maybe Lake Tahoe.

Posted by Carrie Leilani – March 7, 2008 7:35 PM

Its definitely CA!!!! I was right from clue #1!

Posted by Jess Hinkle – March 7, 2008 7:53 PM

There are 3 dice on the board I know there is only 2 normally. Why 3 dice? I went and got my monopoly game out. Trying to figure out which card is which and which spot is which. Starting in the center I see the 3 dice, one on 0 and one on L and one straight in front of the Pennsylvania Avenue (green card)
Cards on the front row look like Tennessee, Boardwalk, Pennsylvania Ave.,Pacific Ave.,Kentucky Ave.
Cards to the right I think are Connecticut ave, Vermont Ave.,New york ave., St charles place, Atlantic ave.
Starting at the go position going around the game there is a house on the vermont ave spot , looks like the shoe on St james place, a HOtel on New york avenue, a car on Indiana ave, a house on Atlantic Avenue, a house and a hat on boardwalk.. I could not make out the cards to the back but If there are 3 houses & 3 dice could there be 3 dream homes? Or is it a 3 word location? Did you eliminate these states fcole? I just don't get it! The inventor, Charles Darrow, of Monopoly was from germantown Pennsylvania The street names of this game were taken from street names in Atlantic City, New Jersey but bot NJ and Penn. are east of the Mississippi. In wikipedia it has a speed die explanation for the 3rd die... I see on the monopoly tournament site there will be 2 tournaments held in Hot Springs, Az. So maybe it will be in Hot springs, AZ. Who knows except fcole and jack and all the new dream team

Posted by Carrie Miracle – March 7, 2008 7:55 PM

So excited to know who the winner will be!! I remember i was signing in for the last day of the contest and i got a cold rush through my body that i started crying of the excitement what if i won this dream home and the new car!! Omg.... I cant wait... When do you annouce the winner and when do they find out....

Posted by mel rivera – March 7, 2008 7:56 PM

Could be "Baltic", which means on the Mediteranian.

Posted by Steve Corcoran – March 7, 2008 8:05 PM

Maryland, close from Ocean City.

Posted by ydalmis – March 7, 2008 8:09 PM

I'm torn between Nevada ( multiple dice) and California (Pacific Ave-Pacific Ocean) but It could be Hawaii as well(that tropical fish pops up everywhere in the clues).
It will be fun to watch this one. Congratulations to the 2008 winner, that house on the beach is a beauty!

Posted by Dorothy Michaux – March 7, 2008 8:10 PM

I just got dizzy reading the comments and got nowhere near a real answer or possible place for the 2009 house. Well, it's only a few months more until the next contest. :)

Posted by Lisa – March 7, 2008 8:11 PM

i thought about it. and i agree with a few of the ppl on here..i looked it up and theres a place called PACIFIC AVENUE in CALIFORNIA...by the pacific ocean...but im not for sure

Posted by ashleyjean – March 7, 2008 8:15 PM

Pine Springs, AZ

Posted by KV – March 7, 2008 8:23 PM

The only thing out of place on the monopoly board is the extra di centered directly on the O, with the #3 and the #2 showing, 3+2=5, so the answer to the clue is Hawaii five-0 and the comment big green refers to the big green island of Hawaii and for those who think Hawaii can't look like Jacks video, look again, it looks very much like it.

Posted by ILDhomes – March 7, 2008 8:29 PM

Ok, let's review: Our first clue was a globe showing all of the US which didn't help at all.

The 2nd was a scrabble board that we all think gave us the clue of Mountain Zone which elimnates any state not in the Mountain Zone.

The 3rd was yet another scrabble board (yawn) that gave us 25 words of which we're suppose to choose 3 that apply? I looked at that board again today and found 3 words in a row that say "HGTV N ERIE"? There is an Erie NV just on the outskirts of Las Vegas, and a Mt Erie, WA.

The 4th clue was West of the Mississippi which does not mean IN Mississippi nor does it mean EAST of Mississippi, so that eliminates Pennsylvania, N Carolina, Florida (which had a couple of dream houses not to mention the one we're all hoping to win, duh!) Tennessee, Georgia, and all other states EAST of Mississippi!!

The 5th clue is a monopoly game with the added comment of 'it's all about the money and going for the big green'. This could mean gambling in Vegas and winning lots of money or playing golf in a tournament like the US Open which is not held in any of the Mountain Zone states. The big green could be the 3 avenue cards, Pennsylvania, N Carolina or Pacific. Pacific could mean the Pacific ocean, but that view in the video doesn't seem to be near an ocean. Maybe there's a city with these streets, I don't know.

So, we're not any better off with the last 2 clues. Just food for thought!

I'm sticking with NV which is in the Mountain Zone, has Mt Charleston nearby that is covered in pine trees with a great view of the desert floor below, and Las Vegas has a suburb name Erie. My 2nd is still Globe, AZ. Both AZ & NV have all the words mentioned in the scrabble boards.

Now we wait for Tuesday!

Posted by Linda – March 7, 2008 8:38 PM

California is not in the Mountain time zone...sorry! And, Tennessee is EAST of the Mississippi...Fom what I saw in the video was either NM or AZ. NM has Casinos EVERYWHERE...I swear every Indian Tribe in New Mexico has a casino. We have 3 right here in Lincoln County, NM and we have golf courses coming out our ears...the Ruidoso area alone has 7 and more on the way and we have a poulation of less than 50,000. The closest LARGE lake is Elephant Butte down by Truth or Consequences, NM, but I don't think they have any casinos...I'm saying either northern NM around Santa Fe or Taos or near the mountains of northern AZ...need to investigate casino locations....OH,OH,OH,I'm saying VERDE VALLEY in AZ...Strawberry is near there and they have a casino, etc. mountains, golf courses, not sure about lakes...need to check it out.

Posted by Becky – March 7, 2008 8:41 PM

Santa Cruz by the boardwalk!!!

Posted by adozier – March 7, 2008 8:42 PM

Three dice..hummmm...unusual for Monopoly...Could it mean Area Code??? I searched online for area codes with the three numbers showing on top of the dice and three numbers facing me on the dice. I only came up with two. One was Cayman Islands...That can't be it...BUT the other ONLY one was 435 which is a Utah area code...None of the rest of the sequences exsisted for area codes... ;) Could it be Utah??

Posted by Mitzi – March 7, 2008 8:49 PM

As there is a hotel on Boardwalk, the most expensive property in Monopoly, and we were told to "follow the money"...Park City, UT has the Park Place Boardwalk Hotel and there is also the Silver Lake Boardwalk in Silver Lake, UT. "Preview: The Silver Lake Boardwalk is an easily hiked, level loop around an extensive high-altitude riparian complex. At the far end of the loop, the trail passes through a stand of conifers and exposes you briefly to a rocky scree slope and some small stands of aspen."

Utah or Bust!!!

Posted by Catherine – March 7, 2008 8:51 PM

I Got It
I am sticking with UTAH ---- The dice show
# 435(AREA CODE) Rural Utah outside Salt Lake City metro, Which would be Park City UTAH :-)

Posted by Lynda – March 7, 2008 8:55 PM

I'm ore and more inclined towards Washington state, with all the clues to Mountain, water, sun, rain, apple, Dry Falls...and green and the video - it looks like the evergreen state.

Posted by Ken Basta – March 7, 2008 8:56 PM

I STILL SAY CALIFORNIA. THERE IS PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT STARTS OR ENDS. TOP HAT AND HOUSE ON BOARDWALK AND VENICE BEACH HAS A BOARDWALK, BUT SO DO SEVERAL OTHER CITIES ALONG THE PACIFIC OCEAN IN CALIFORNIA. GOOD LUCK TO ALL...I'M SURE WHOEVER WINS IT WILL BE SOMEONE WHO TRUELY NEEDS IT AND WILL BE GRATEFUL.

Know what?, I don't care where it is, I'm just anxious to see the new HGTV 2009 Home. What a blast every year to see these beautiful creations of HGTV, staff & sponsors! Excellent!

Posted by terryls – March 7, 2008 9:00 PM

Here's how I interpreted the big green. The green squares on the board North Carolina & Pennsylvania Ave, both states out the the running, and the 3rd green square is Pacific Ave. That made me think of the Pacific Northwest which is the largest temperate rain forest zone...meaning very green, so going the big green appears to be the PNW region, and a lot of the clues to seem to point there. It's looking more like WA or CA with each clue. Aren't the houses in Monolopy green too? Could the big green mean the bill in the game that is green...the $20 bill is the green one in the game....and Jackson is on the $20. Jackson CA fits many of the clues, too. It's an old mining town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range. Okay...now I feel a just a little crazy. Happy Friday everyone!!!

Posted by Becky from Napa Valley – March 7, 2008 9:11 PM

I still say Park City, UT....get it? Park place? Yup. I do believe it's Park City; have thought that all along.

Just a long shot, but could it possibly be Forks, Washington? This is the setting for Stephenie Meyer's best-selling book Twilight. Pine trees, yes. Mountains, yes. WIND and inches of RAIN, yes. It is located on the Olympic Peninsula off the Pacific Ocean, and sea creatures called SUNFLOWER stars are found in the tide pools there. Forks is known for its steelhead trout fishing (ocean going form of RAINBOW trout). On the trails in the Olympic National Park, trees are absolutely covered in beautiful GREEN moss. La Push and First Beach are only 12 miles away. WASHINGTON Park was mentioned again and again in Thursday's House Hunter episode and the view during the short clip online just brought Forks to mind. Anything is possible . . .

Posted by A Twilight Fan – March 7, 2008 9:35 PM

My Best Guesses for the next dream home are, Pennsylvannia, North Carolina, or California the only green cards on the board are those so it will be one of those states...

Posted by Melissa – March 7, 2008 9:37 PM

There are so many possible states--I would love to see it located further west--but I keep thinking about Clue #3 with prayer, grief & music. I don't know if all of those scrabble clues were really clues or not (like Clue #4 where only 3 would apply)-but especially prayer & grief seem to point to Louisiana. Those two are odd random words to just throw out there & Jack said in the video he was listening to us in this blog & that was why he was standing where he was--many people mentioned in last year's blog that Louisana would be a good choice. Any thoughts?

Posted by Bev – March 7, 2008 9:40 PM

Well, For starters yesterday I fell asleep (but) I`m covered I hit the record buttom. I`m way to tired worked late the clues are green? 3 dice my brain is so stressed I`ll do some homework tomorrow after work nite!!

Posted by Mary – March 7, 2008 9:42 PM

I have checked all of the clues and from the monoploy game being played; there is a house on boardwalk, is up front in the photo; which means to me that the player (us) ownes boardwalk. There is a hotel on either New York or Tennessee Avenues (which a motel is more green than a house)and does belong to us (player). There are three dice on the board and the one on the O in Monoploy is whiter than the other two. The three players are Hat (Boardwalk); Shoe (St. James Place); and Car (Indiana Ave.) If we are the player with the property in the foreground of the photo, we own all of the three properties St. James Place, Tennessee Ave, and New York Ave.; or we couldn't by a hotel. Atlantic Ave. or Vermont does not belong to us (player), because of the placement of the property cards. If we choose a state according the white dice it would be Oklahoma. But I am still guessing that it is Nevada.

Posted by Stella – March 7, 2008 9:46 PM

I say Denver---the big green is the monopoly board itself and I see MON (Montana), where the US Mint "makes money in Denver. Wheat Ridge is nearby. Wheat, sunflowers and beef cattle are products - even Cowtown is in Montana as are lakes and mines. There was a Silver Boom in early 1900's. Colorado is in the mountain time zone-west of the Mississippi and has the the Chinook Winds. There are coves along the rivers and lakes. Zebras are being raised on a farm in Fruita. Go for the GREENbay Packers. there is area known as the Golden Triangle. There street sign n House Hunters stood out - Washington Sq P (there is a Washington Park on Denver

I'm digging!!! Things to do in Mount Vernon, WA:

Rodeo at Sedro WOOLley's
Ski to SEA annual event
Mt. Vernon famous Salmon BBQ
Let you view Anacortes' Mount. ERIE take you away
swim in Clear LAKE
Swinomish CASINO/Skagit Valley CASINO & Resort
short drive to SILVER Reef CASINO
Short drive to Peace ARCH & PACIFIC Border Highway Crossing.
Stroll along & Sit at Mt. Vernon's BOARDWALK.

George Washington's GLOBE in the museum in Mt. Vernon.

Is there another clue? Is the HGTV 2009 home close to Mt. Vernon like close to a golf course
the BIG GREEN, Eaglemont Golf Course?

Posted by Chris F. – March 7, 2008 9:51 PM

Vermont

Posted by molly – March 7, 2008 9:56 PM

I think it will be in Oregon.

Posted by Bryan – March 7, 2008 10:03 PM

I would like to correct my earlier comment. I was thinking Montana at first when I saw Mon on the board but meant to delete that idea. I believe the home will be built in Denver COLORADO. There are also casinos in Colorado.

Posted by Susan – March 7, 2008 10:17 PM

okay, so there has to be something significant about the number 3 with this clue. there are 3 playing pieces, 3 houses, and they added an extra dice to make it 3 dice.
this is driving me crazy!!!

Posted by Mandy – March 7, 2008 10:20 PM

Lynda just nailed it with the area code. We're looking at Park City, Utah, people!!! That "big green" reference is about the most money you can get for rent on the Monopoly board. Haven't you ever owned Boardwalk and had a hotel on it? BIG GREEN about covers it.

This sounds like just the place for an HGTV Dream Home!!

" Victory Ranch
"The Deer Valley of golf" is how development spokesman George Glauser describes Victory Ranch. Further afield than Promontory, this 6,800-acre property is located about eight miles off of Highway 40, just east of Jordanelle Reservoir, perhaps a 20-minute drive from Park City's Main Street.

The focal point of the acreage is undoubtedly the winding Provo River, five and a half miles of which run through the property. This marvelous natural asset will make Victory Ranch a fly fishing paradise in addition to a first-rate golfing address. "The natural setting is beautiful. This is a great opportunity for me," begins renowned golf course architect Rees Jones, who hopes the first of three planned courses will be completed in the fall of 2004. The proposed real estate will include villas, elegantly rustic homes and ranchette lots. The 38,000-square-foot clubhouse overlooking the Provo River will be designed with heavy timber and stone."

also, they have the chance and community chest cards in the wrong place. they should be switched around. i'm not sure how that could be a clue though....
just an observation

Posted by Mandy – March 7, 2008 10:23 PM

arches could be a reference to monument valley, located in utah

Hi everyone. I just looked over the clues and I agree with everyone that says Hawaii. I first went and made a list and then took off the ones that had already been done. Then the ones that are west of the mississippi. Then in the 3rd clue, yes it does say moutnain zone, however it says Knot. Not is in tying a knot but as in Not in the mountain zone. Then if you look at Clue 4 it says Aloha just like Carrie said at 7:35 on March 7th. It adds up right. Say and Hawaii would be great!

I believe it is in Louisiana. The

the trees in my home state of

in Louisiana because the
blue space by GO then the blue

Louisiana has a The Boardwalk in

I saw a HGTV short that showed the 2009 home site has pine trees, and a view of a city area off the mountain in the distance. That still leaves a lot of potential places with the clues given. And for those of you who aren't paying attention...IT IS WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER! and also it won't be in states: Colorado, Texas, Oregon or Wyoming.

Stay tuned for more exciting clues!!

It's either:

1. At SILVER LAKE, UTAH

OR

2. SILVER LAKE, NEVADA

I'm still leaning toward Nevada, due to the casino clue

Posted by michael – March 7, 2008 10:47 PM

It's near Lake Tahoe, on the NV/CA stateline, where silver meets gold.

Ok again I say it is Anacortes or Fidalgo Island Washington state. First they have a Mnt Erie and a lake erie. Also rain, mountain, apple, casino, silver, and music. It all adds up or at least I hope- there is no place like Washington!

Every so often someone lists a state that HGTV has already had a Dream Home in. This is a list of states that are NOT possible:

1997 Jackson Hole, WY
1998 Beaufort, SC
1999 Rosemary Beach, FL
2000 Nehalem, OR
2001 Camden, ME
2002 Sherwood, MD
2003 Mexico Beach, FL
2004 St. Mary, GA
2005 Tyler, TX
2006 Lake Lure, NC
2007 Winter Park, CO
2008 The Keys, Islamorada, FL.

West of the Mississippi, that could mean west of the River or could it be west of the state of Mississippi. "Go for the green", emerald green? Washington state is known as the Emerald State. That is why I too, believe that it is in the state of Washington. Tacoma has a Pacific Avenue which runs up to the Seattle area. On the Long Beach Peninsula, WA it also has a Pacific hwy that runs the lenght of the peninsula, Willapa Bay is on the east of the peninsula - beautiful beaches, sand, fishing, windy, picturesque views. In the video, Jack Thomasson appears to be on an elevated vista with a distant view of a valley and foothills. I don't think that all the words on the Scrabble board pertains to the winning state/location. They throw in words that could be any western state all we have to do is find the common denominator that would be THE ONE!! Well, back to the drawing board!! Good luck to all, hope everyone is having as much fun as I am.

Posted by Jandi – March 7, 2008 11:11 PM

I like Evan J's guess of Santa Cruz, California - don't know why some are saying it has to be Mountain Time Zone - I do know that there are plenty of people out there ignoring the West of the Mississippi clue!

Posted by Carol – March 7, 2008 11:16 PM

It will be in California or possibly Washington State.

St Louis,MO is where I think the next house will be built.

Posted by Kate – March 8, 2008 12:14 AM

I think the new board supports my location in Bellingham because it is on the 48th parallel and the die add up to 48.

Posted by Patsy – March 8, 2008 12:41 AM

I believe the next dream home will be in Santa Cruz, CA. Boardwalk is the most expensive property on the Monopoly board.

Posted by Anonymous – March 8, 2008 12:44 AM

I think it is in Baja California. So I hope I will win it.

Posted by Eileen Robertson – March 8, 2008 12:57 AM

Ok..I was going to bed and again BIG GREEN popped into my head and a couple of things came to mind. I thought of money and the only president on money that has a state named after him is Washington. I also thought of the Hulk. Bruce Banner worked in a research facility in New Mexico, where he was in the explosion that made him the Hulk. Okay...now I'm sure that I'm crazy. Fcole...you may be leading to the demise of my brain..haha!
I like the arguments for Utah too.

Posted by Becky from Napa Valley – March 8, 2008 1:36 AM

you could be onto something with washington and money, the only money seen clearly in the monopoly photo are 1$ bills

Posted by Denise – March 8, 2008 2:42 AM

It's Hawaii........know why??
OK!!! Hawaii is known as ALOHA State, and nickname SUNFLOWER state, it has many FALLS, lot's of SUN,FUN, also LIFEBOAT drills, USS LAKE ERIE homeport is Hawaii, TOMATO is grown year round, ZEBRA APPLE is a snail that lives in Hawaii, you can enjoy the ocean BREEZE, their best Luau is called Paradise COVE Luau, It's KNOT in MOUNTAIN ZONE, There is many CASINOS, It's very WINDY constant wind from east to west...sooooo WINDY that they have the world's largest wind generator, Hawaii is known for the Texas style BBQ BEEF, Hawaii is definetely west of Mississippi, there is a Green Garden BOARDWALK, there is a green SAND beach at the southern most tip of the BIG Island, GREEN because of olivine crystals which are very rare, Hawaii has one of the best DIVE spots in the world, Waialeale Mountain has 488 in. of RAIN per year which is the most in the world, there are wonderful and amazing LOVE stories, there are lot's of PALM trees, sugar CANE, miles and miles of SEA, you can enjoy MUSIC, and their Hawaiian DANCE and last but not least HGTV Dream Home 2009, is a WISH come true in Hawaii.....
GOD BLESS!!!

Posted by Rina – March 8, 2008 2:45 AM

My guess is Pennsylvania Avenue, in Prince George's County in Maryland on Route 4. "Making money and going for the big green" The big green in Monopoly is Pennsylvania Ave (which makes the most money of all the greens) and a lot of money is to be made on Pennsylvania Avenue in our nations capitol. The die with the 4 in front of Pennsylvania Ave represents Route 4. To get there from the White House you head in the direction of the Capitol building over the John Philip Sousa Bridge (Anacostia River)

sounds like you are going to atlantic city n.j.

Posted by bob ripley – March 8, 2008 7:22 AM

My guess so far is Atlantic City, NJ. The scrabble clues were Casino, Tomato, lifeboat, and the monopoly game piece was on Boardwalk; no dream homes yet in New Jersey; also West of the Mississippi.

Posted by Chris – March 8, 2008 7:58 AM

Here's our guess: Fidalgo Island is an island in Skagit County, Washington. Has Mt. Erie. Pacific-Northwest Railroad.

Posted by Mish/Randy – March 8, 2008 8:13 AM

OK, I don't think it is Hawaii. Now I am leaning toward the Seattle area...or along the coast. Thanks HGTV for giving all of us this puzzle - it is definitely a good brain teaser. Also a release from being weather-related home bound.

Posted by heidi reyburn – March 8, 2008 8:27 AM

there is a house and a player on boardwalk. there is a boardwalk hotel and casino in las vegas could it be something like a penthouse or condo in a big resort?

Posted by anonymous – March 8, 2008 8:36 AM

I also am pretty sure it's in the mountains near Santa Cruz. Beside a lot of the other clues fitting, the three dice on the board represent 354, which, I believe is one of the telephone exchanges in that area. Boardwalk, sunflower, silver, music, beef, wind, lifeboat, sand, Pacific and many more of the clues fit.

Posted by Grace Newman – March 8, 2008 8:37 AM

So many people keep saying Washington! I love that Bellingham area, but the Mountain Zone from the Scrabble board is a sticking point for me.(I KNOW it could be to throw us off!)
I do keep thinking Utah is right, I found the same Silver Lake Boardwalk area that Catherine did, and got very excited. The only problem is it has reddish rocks there and Jack looked to be in a really lush area!
I think the make money, go for the green clue is referring to passing GO (the top hat-Us) and collecting Money. We also own Boardwalk. I had to laugh though, everyone kept saying Big Green etc... and Dartmouth got stuck in my head (I live 15 min. away) and we all know New Hampshire is EAST of the Mississippi!!! LOL!

Posted by Mary – March 8, 2008 8:40 AM

I am still unsure as to where the '09 Dream House will be, but I wanted to comment on why there are three dice. Several people are commenting on that...thinking that it could be a clue. The new Monopoly games now have 3 dice. My husband and I bought a game for Christmas...the new third dice is used to help speed the game up...and yes it is kind of a blue-ish color like you see in the picture.

another piece.

BIG GREEN- like the Big Green Egg sold by Sound Cedar Company in Mt. Vernon, WA
it's a grill or/and smoker.

Posted by Chris F. – March 8, 2008 9:52 AM

Judy Manley, the last clue said it was west of the Missippi. So it can't be in Tennessee.

Posted by Candace – March 8, 2008 9:53 AM

I was looking at the old clues and I just noticed something. The globe in the first clue has a light shining on it. (flashlight?) The centerpoint of the light is out in the pacific ocean, across from Washington state I believe. Also, the light illuminates down into Hawaii.

Posted by Amy – March 8, 2008 10:08 AM

I'm still going for Utah. But after reading all the blogs, some of you people need to get out your maps and relearn our geography. Washington St is in Pacific Tim Zone. And states like Maryland and Tennesse are EAST of the Mississippi.

Posted by Anne W – March 8, 2008 10:15 AM

Money and property is all I'm getting from the last clue. fcole, can you rule out mtn time zone? If mtn time zone is ruled out, I'm flying over to IA. If not, I'm going with Montana, Idaho, UT and AZ. How about a clue telling us east or west of the Continental Divide? The only thing I am certain of is Jack is standing on a mtn with a city in the distance.

Posted by Lisa H – March 8, 2008 11:15 AM

For all those Hawaii fans, did you notice that the two dice in the front add up to "5" and the other dice is on the "O".....Are we talking Hawaii 5-O? What's really messing us up is the "knot"....is the location in the Mountain Zone, or "knot" in the Mountain Zone. But we CAN safely say that the location is WEST of the Mississippi. River!

Posted by robin – March 8, 2008 11:15 AM

Ok, has anyone noticed that even though you can't buy a house in Monopoly unless you own all the properties in that section (according to the rules), there's a house on Boardwalk, without owning Park Place? To me, this means Boardwalk is OUT as a clue. Either that or I'm reading WAY too much into this and I need to get a life. I do think there is something to the 3 dice and the area code theory...which points to Utah...which points back to NOT Boardwalk but Park Place...which points back to my needing a life....Grrrrr

Posted by Kelly – March 8, 2008 11:34 AM

Posted by maricel cid-washington – March 8, 2008 11:36 AM

What??? I don't get it!!!!!

Posted by Alex – March 8, 2008 11:41 AM

Yeh, this one has had me stumped....
"It's all about making money and going for the big green"
So...okay I looked at the board, New York Ave is the biggest money maker at the moment- according to the board set-up" with one HOTEL(rent $1000) vs Boardwalk with one HOUSE(rent $200)...and then the three dice total 12 - so I "walked around" the board 12 spaces and landed on Pacific Ave (one of the BIG green).
Can it be simply that this clue refers to a state on the Pacific Coast, and it would either be California or Washington? (since Oregon is out of the running)
Makes me have to rethink all of my other sleuthing prior to this point.

Posted by Pret – March 8, 2008 11:49 AM

Dream Home 2009: Santa Cruz, CA

Posted by sharon – March 8, 2008 11:51 AM

Rina, March 8, 2:45am made great points for Hawaii (wouldn’t that be a great Dream Home!?!?!?)

Many others have made great points for Washington State and Utah (of the two, my money is on Washington)

I agree with all of them. But with the latest monopoly clue I am now also adding Santa Cruz, California to my list.

Of the three monopoly properties that are green, PACIFIC is the only one that fits WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI. If the BOARDWALK is important here, then the Boardwalk on the PACIFIC in Santa Cruz fits very well, along with most of the other previous clues. (The shot of Jack may very well be in the Santa Cruz MTS. near the Boardwalk. Since we don’t see the view from behind the camera, it may also be facing the SEA)

Posted by Jennifer – March 8, 2008 12:03 PM

I say Hawaii. Sand, coves, west of the Mississippi, Sun, pacific. Yep, Hawaii.

Posted by Kat – March 8, 2008 12:04 PM

I'm pulling for Oregon. "green" vistas. Pacific coast. I don't think the "mountain" clue refers to time zone as much as it does a mountainous zone or region. I'm putting my money on Pacific City, Oregon. A days drive from Mt. Hood and surrounded by lush green parks and vistas.

Posted by Joe – March 8, 2008 12:05 PM

I guess not very many people have been
to Louisiana. Because we have alot
of trees that are pine and oak trees,
like in the video of Jack. Also,
we have hills and valleys too. So
that is why I believe it is in
Louisiana!

Posted by Sandra – March 8, 2008 12:05 PM

More food for thought...Boardwalk is the property in Monopoly that provides the "big green" or the most money. Las Vegas had a Boardwalk Hotel & Casino, key word had since it's closed.

Park Place is the next most expensive property, so I can see how some would make a leap to Park City UT. Utah also has many parks with boardwalk trails.

The 3 die on the board must have some significance because the normal number is 2, but what? They add up to 12 or you can play with the numbers in random order, 3, 4, and 5. Maybe it's longitude & lattitude on the globe? Maybe an area code?

Posted by Linda – March 8, 2008 12:06 PM

its in N.Y i no because all the houses on the board r in N.Y and the hat is on the Broadway!!

Posted by kyle pedron – March 8, 2008 12:07 PM

I believe that the answer is
Tucson, Arizona

Posted by Dorothy – March 8, 2008 12:08 PM

Oh I thnk Evan J nailed it. Santa Cruz CA. I checked out the website and it all seems to fit. Good Job Evan J.(however, I was really hoping for AZ) Has anyone out there heard any rumors of who won DH 08?

Posted by Beth – March 8, 2008 12:18 PM

I think the 2008 dreamhome will be in Oklhoma or Ohio because of the 3rd dice on the O in MONOPLOY

Posted by Josie – March 8, 2008 12:18 PM

Maybe Hilton Head Hawaii where the Green Home is being built?

Posted by Kat – March 8, 2008 12:23 PM

It's definitely Santa Cruz, California - and that location looks fantastic. Check out Evan J's links - he nailed it!

Posted by Carol – March 8, 2008 12:25 PM

Hey Kelly, (mar 8 at 11:34) LMAO, that was funny. I think I do too. It's a challenge and I think we are all reading too much into the clues. Which is what FC wants us to do. His comment to me was some of the ideas are very creative, which means we are thinking WAY to MUCH. I don't think it would be California though, simply because California is a very expensive state to live in. A 1 bedroom condo lists for 500K, that's more than my 3500 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms in SW Florida! So, HGTV, don't let it be California, we could never afford to live there. Washington, or AZ. Depends on the next clues on which way I am swayed.

The answer is GLOBE, Arizona (The very first clue.) Named GLOBE because a large SILVER nugget was discovered resembling a GLOBE from SILVER MINING was done there. They have an annual ALOHA Fest. The new clue of "big green" stands for the VERDE (translate GREEN) River is nearby. There is also a natural stone ARCH formation. CASINOS are also nearby. Arizona is in the MOUNTAIN ZONE, WEST OF THE MISSIPPI. They also contain every other clue, mountains, lakes, and activities in the clues.

The Forsyth Park sign was
featured in the TeeVee show,
also. The man bought the home
across from/views of Forsyth.
Forsyth does not match up/hit
any plausible leads. And I
searched!
The word `Park` was spoken
over and over through out the
home search. This included
talking about the car park
behind the house.
A clue? separate from the
West of Mississippi ? Who really
knows.
Like Kelly I became fixated on
the illegal House and Hotel place-
ment on the board. The property
deeds, also, do not link up with
board. I need a Life, too!
The are houses on Vermont, Atlantic
Avenues, and Boardwalk. A single
hotel on New York Avenue. Hmmmm ?
Shoe ~ St. James Place
Car ~ Indiana Avenue
Tophat ~ Boardwalk
The only discernable paper $$
are 3 ones.
And then there are the 3 die!
In order 354. The area code
theory does fit Park City, UT.
Is there a 3 theme, also?
Thursday night because of the
Forsyth Park and other `park
stuff`; I posted Park/Park City,
Utah. Oyé ~ many things from
prior clues hitch up with that
place. Starting with Silver
and MTZ.

Quote from fcole "And you know when playing Monopoly, it's all about making money and going for the big green".

When playing Monopoly it is all about making money and getting the most in rent.

Boardwalk usually gets alot in rent but the Boardwalk on the board only has one house so it only gets $200.00 when someone lands on it.

New york avenue has a hotel and gets $1000.00 in rent, whenever someone lands on it, so this is the property that will make the most money and get the most green.

NewYork Ave. has been changed to Seattle in the newest here and now version of monopoly.

Someone on the blog also reminded me that Seattle is also nicknamed the emerald (GREEN) city

Posted by ILDhomes – March 8, 2008 12:46 PM

I was all for San Diego untill last clue, now I say Utah from Monolpy clue;
dice 4,3,5 = is Utah area code
sun & dance = Sun Dance is a city and has a movie festival
music = jazz = Utah Jazz
big green = Green River
lake = Great Salt Lake
mountain & zone = it is in the mountain zone
silver = mining is an industry
it is rainy, sunny, windy, has mountains and desert, pine forests and sand dunes
flats = Bonneville Salt Flats
dice 4 & 5 = it is the 45th state
arch = Arches and Delicate Arch are Federal Parks
palm & prayer = could refer to Mormans

of course some clues refer to Hawai, California and Washington state. No matter where, it is just plain fun trying to figure out.

I still really think it is Utah. There is a gorgeous area on Flagstaff Mountain, that seems to be having new development. HGTV seems to go to places that are just at the beginning stages of development. A lot of these will be condos, but private homes are being offered as well. The site I went to is Flagstaff at Empire Pass. This features Deer Valley Resort and Village at Empire Pass. It is near Park City. Could that be Park City we are seeing in the distant view of Jack's video? Besides skiing on Flagstaff, fishing and swimming at Silver Lake, Hiking, Hunting, there is also golf at Tuhaye, Utah. It certainly looks like a good fit to me!

Posted by Mary – March 8, 2008 2:38 PM

Love reading all the comments!!! I think HGTV is giving us all a geography class and because we are all coming up with so many answers that it could be we don't realize that we are "going back to school". This is so much more fun. I can't spend another day, today, working on this, have things to do around the house. Now, that's not to say I won't have a pen and paper on me to jot down a thought I have. Look forward to more comments. Enjoy!!!

Posted by Sybil – March 8, 2008 3:20 PM

Hawaii.

Posted by Doreen – March 8, 2008 3:20 PM

The only states left that are in the Mountain time zone and they haven't been to are:
ARIZONA
IDAHO
MONTANA
NEW MEXICO
UTAH
WYOMING
I really am leaning towards Utah,, but i could be wrong....

Posted by Jojo – March 8, 2008 3:41 PM

I still like the idea of Beach, North Dakota in Golden Valley County!

Posted by Teresa – March 8, 2008 3:54 PM

I think the new 2009 home will be around Atlantic City, New Jersey. I have been entering the past few years this might be my time!!!!!

Posted by Mary – March 8, 2008 4:12 PM

I don't see any signs of cold weather in the recent clue near the building location. I'm thinking central or southern CA at the moment. Oh no, Tahoe just popped back into my mind!

Posted by joanie – March 8, 2008 4:12 PM

Washington State is definitely the next location by all of the clues.

Posted by Teresa – March 8, 2008 4:40 PM

It's in Idaho!

Posted by dan bishop – March 8, 2008 4:55 PM

It's in St. Charles, ID.

Posted by Dan – March 8, 2008 5:11 PM

I still think it will the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington. I would move there.

Posted by Dawn – March 8, 2008 5:33 PM

the monoply game is Atlantic city, New Jersey. Is that where the next Dream Home will be?

Posted by carol – March 8, 2008 5:36 PM

I think that 'big green' refers to a golf course. I've said it was Park City, UT from day one. Check out www.promontoryclub.com. It's a huge private community development on or near new golf courses. I also agree with the 435 area code clue...pretty clever! That's why there were three dice on the board. Makes sense. Go UTAH!!!

Posted by Jennifer A. in WI – March 8, 2008 5:37 PM

I think all clues link to Las Vegas, Nevada area..Isnt there a Boardwalk there?

Posted by sandra ann – March 8, 2008 5:54 PM

I'm to my original guess:

'Vegas'

Maybe the board doesn't have anything to do with the clue...but, the $$$ does so, it leans me back to Las Vegas.

CARRIE M: Thanks for your description of the Monopoly Board, which helped these tired eyes to see it better. You have been my blogger pal since Day One. I am so impressed with the creative thinking of most (we will forgive those who don't know their geography) of the posters to support their guesses. You guys are the greatest and I'm sure fcole would agree. HOWEVER, since so many people are now guessing Park City, UT, I am going out on a limb and will guess the very street on which the DH09 will be built. I think it will be on Park Avenue, Park City, Utah.
Pleasant dreams, everyone, and thanks HGTV, you can see how many of us love this game.

Posted by Katydid – March 8, 2008 6:59 PM

The house will be built at the Tamarack Ski Resort in Donnelly, Idaho.

Posted by Jim Pfost – March 8, 2008 7:06 PM

It's either Washington, California or Hawaii because the big green is by blue and I say that means a golf cours by the ocean and Hawaii and California has lots of these.

Posted by Nicole_da_Wise – March 8, 2008 7:19 PM

Jersey Shore!

Posted by bb – March 8, 2008 7:25 PM

Which Section of the Mississippi River is nearer to the dream home? Upper (more north) or lower (more south)? Is it closer to the M. River or way out west? Or the state of MS? It could be Lousiana, it is directly west of the mississippi state & river and if you take all the cards on the monopoly board laying out most of these states were east of the mississippi (so eliminated) and then it had pacific and atlantic avenue. I believe they are out ! Let's say they have been eliminated, the rest of the cards/states are. That left boardwalk & st. charles place cards, right. But if you look at a map and take out all of the states bordering the pacific and atlantic oceans as well that leaves the gulf of mexico(sea clue?) and what states are bordering the gulf of mexico : Tx, LA, MS, & AL and then you remove TX FL ( because they have already been eliminated, hgtv already built there) That leaves 3 states according to my theory LA, MS, AL the clue it is west of the mississippi... does that mean The river? or The State? I think its Lousianna now! That was one of the first gut instincts I had so I'm going with St charles, Louisiana: it will show up on google maps. I rest my case for now! so go ahead fcole please prove me right or wrong!!!!!!!

Posted by Carrie miracle – March 8, 2008 7:34 PM

It is going to be at Tradition Hilton Head, South Carolina!

hello Katydid
your welcome for the info I read your blog after I blogged but I'm glad the info I blogged was meant for you & it went straight to my blogging buddy.
p.s. I still think that the "knot" clue with the mountain zone means not to use those states. I could be wrong. I agree that WA, Az , Mo and Ut clues up as well but I'm still going with my gut instinct now Louisiana.... that prayer clue just speaks to me. I have prayed so much for the recovery of LA. It's what I remember the boats and casinos sitting in the middle of the streets from the tv shots... Not to mention brad and angelina Pitt's big green efforts to rebuild in LA... makes sence to me

Posted by Carrie Miracle – March 8, 2008 7:51 PM

I have two guesses first Colorado, then Nevada.

Just a guess. A. E. Dickerson

Posted by A. E. Dickerson – March 8, 2008 8:17 PM

I guess it is near Bossier City, Louisiana
because they have Louisiana Boardwalk and
Casinos. New Orleans is The
Riverwalk instead of Boardwalk.
It has hills and valleys near there.
I believe it is here!

Put a Elavator in the 2009 Dream Home,
for guest that come to it that
are Handicap. That would be great!

Posted by Sandra – March 8, 2008 8:34 PM

i think it's in Texas

Posted by Antonia Allison – March 8, 2008 8:50 PM

Mill Valley California

Posted by Sarah – March 8, 2008 8:57 PM

I still think it is Arizona, and while the new clues drive us crazy, remember that they ALL don't pertain, and we have no clue which ones are important. Arrrrgggghhhh!

Posted by robin – March 8, 2008 9:06 PM

Still sticking with Park City Utah...that illegal house placement on Boardwalk has me fixated on those 3 dice that give the Utah area code and steer me back to Park Place. And besides, no offense, but have any of you ever actually BEEN to Globe AZ??? Ew ew ew

Posted by Kelly – March 8, 2008 9:07 PM

I just LOVE reading these blogs! All of you are SO very entertaining with your reasoning and clue solving. I thank each of you for your very interesting comments....You make me smile...Keep up the good work....HGTV should give a prize for the person who guesses the closet to the DH 09 homesite....How about it HGTV?! Give someone a prize for all their effort and good work.

my guess is Louisiana, I sticking to it.

I just typed in boardwalk, Louisianna and I found out they are having their 1st annual "boardwalk" goes green. A St. Patricks day 3 day celebration Sat. March 15- Mon. 17

Posted by Carrie Miracle – March 8, 2008 10:21 PM

Louisiana has some great golf
course greens. They are on
the Audubon Trail. It could
be on one of the golf
courses in Louisiana!

Posted by Sandra – March 8, 2008 10:36 PM

I'd like to suggest a wild guess of North Dakota. It was the 39th state admitted (Monopoly dice clue) and the southwest quadrant of the state is in the Mountina time zone. From the scrabble board clues come Sunflower and Wheat, both major agricultural crops of N.D. Also the southern shore of Lake Sakakawea might make a beautiful spot for the 2009 Dream Home. We'll see who's right. Good luck everyone!

Posted by Bill – March 8, 2008 10:41 PM

Someone mentioned a Forsyth sign? I have been saying Branson area. However if there was a Forsyth sign that has to do with this competition...Forsyth is a city on Bull Shoals lake in the Branson area. It is a very wooded, hilly area. ????

Posted by melissa – March 8, 2008 11:32 PM

I'm now thinking the globe was not as specific a clue as many of us originally thought. The terrain in the video clue didn't really look much like that area of Arizona. These scrabble clues are mostly red herrings if only 2 or 3 words on them pertain to the 2009 location. Based on the monopoly board, the top hat, a common symbol of wealth or celebration, is on Boardwalk (where there is also a house.) I am now leaning toward Long Beach Washington or Santa Cruz California. Both of these places have boardwalks and embody many of the scrabble clues. But, then again, depending upon which words are true clues and which are red herrings, almost anything is possible. Quite frankly, once I heard that "west of the mississippi" was the most specific clue yet, my enthusiasm flushed right down the proverbial toilet. I'm done guessing. Time for me to pack for Florida anyway. Apologies to all you folks hoping to win the 2008 Dream Home. My dog has been hyper-vigilant lately, and it brought my attention to the Dream Home people staking out my house from the grassy knoll across the street. Well, it's either the Dream Home people or the second shooter, depending whether your glass is half full or half empty.... Don't forget to tune in Sunday the 16th!

Posted by Ali – March 8, 2008 11:32 PM

I agree with Evan J. that it will be in California near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk!! It is one of California's most beautiful areas and a great place for an HGTV Dream Home.

Can't wait to find out where!!
