We're going to do something a little different with this clue. Watch House Hunters this Thursday night (March 6) at 10/9c for a juicy clue to the location of the next HGTV Dream Home. I promise it's not another Scrabble board. And it's the most specific clue yet to the location of HGTV Dream Home 2009.
In other HGTV Dream Home 2009 news, we added a little something from house planner Jack Thomasson today. Look in the HGTV Dream Home Videos section for a special video postcard from Jack, recorded at the site of the next home!

Watch House Hunters, eh? What's it gonna be, like some kind of onscreen thing? Are they gonna BE at the house? I'll set my TiVo...

I looked on the guide on my tv and house hunters is at Savannah, Georgia on Thursday night, but who knows if that's really it. The person might say they're moving from somewhere else to GA.
Posted by Holly – March 4, 2008 4:22 PM
Washington State.
Posted by linda – March 4, 2008 4:28 PM
Looks and sounds like Idaho to me (possibly Coeur d'Alene). If you write down all the scrabble board words and then compare them to the wikipedia entry for Idaho, there are a ton of matches. It's a really beautiful place too! That's my guess.
Posted by Shelley – March 4, 2008 4:34 PM
fcole, Thanks for giving us a more specific clue to consider. We do appreciate it!
Posted by Lindigo – March 4, 2008 4:43 PM
This is too much fun!!! At least it keeps my mind off of winning the 2008 dream home. Hmmm, the video showed what looks like pine tress, shrubs, lush greens, on top a hill or mountain, yet he was wearing a short sleeved shirt. It did not look too cold and I did not see any snow. It still could be Arizona, but it looked a little overcasted (or early in the am). Hmmmm, guess I will have to watch house hunters this Thursday.
Posted by Beth McEvoy-Rumbo – March 4, 2008 4:45 PM
Well I was pretty sure it was Hawaii but those trees behind Jack Thomasson sure don't look tropical! Back to square one in this mystery.
Posted by leslie – March 4, 2008 4:53 PM
OK, I was wrong about the Hawaii guess. Now I'm leaning more towards the Pacific Northwest, Washington, Oregon, or maybe northern California.
Posted by Kim – March 4, 2008 4:56 PM
Can't be Georgia as they gave away a wonderful house there already! Didn't they?
Posted by Karen – March 4, 2008 5:09 PM
I have looked at the upcoming House Hunters info and have set to record JUST in case I'm out or forget. Studied the video and I still think its Puget Sound, WA's Apple Cove Point area. Depending on what I see on House Hunters this could change. We still have time until the 16th so anything goes. We won't get any clue #5 until Thursday, so does that mean we'll get clue #6 on Friday? Oh what fun, now I have to get back to my "scrabble word" list. Enjoy everyone.
Posted by Jandi – March 4, 2008 5:19 PM
Thanks for the recurring clues. I don't understnad your pictures today though. The first one is of Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse in MARYLAND, which was ruled out by your first clue.
Posted by DHB – March 4, 2008 5:20 PM
Those trees in the background could be from Wa, UT. or maybe AZ,
Posted by Yvonne – March 4, 2008 5:25 PM
I watched the video and read the clues...it looks like California! I will watch House Hunters to see if I am right. I can't wait to start memorizing another beautiful dream home!!!
Posted by Ella – March 4, 2008 5:35 PM
WASHINGTON! That would be great for me as I'm from Central WA., how convenient. The movers won't have far to move my things! I can still enjoy all the season and a big new house. Thanks HGTV!
Posted by Judi B – March 4, 2008 6:09 PM
Look at the sky on the video, its hazy just like it looks around the San Bernadino Mtns, I say California.
Posted by Jeff – March 4, 2008 6:18 PM
I think it looks like Oregon or Washington. Beautiful country.
Posted by Judy – March 4, 2008 6:23 PM
i think it will be in tennessein the mountains because it did say that it would be difficult to bould.
Posted by melissa – March 4, 2008 7:03 PM
This would be a dream come true for me...I love this home....I can see many summers in the keys with my family....this would be life changing for me and my family

I am unable to watch the video, but if the trees behind him are Norfolk Pines it could still be Hawaii as the board had aloha road and their are lakes in Hawaii. Zebra is the only thing that doesn't make sense. I will have to watch thursday night. Aloha.
Posted by Monique – March 4, 2008 8:35 PM
2009 DH- Lake Chelan, Washington...maybe?
Clues suggest it is possible.
Posted by kdk – March 4, 2008 8:45 PM
Georgia "Peach"
Posted by Marion – March 4, 2008 9:04 PM
I agree with today's Washington or Northern California guesses. It can't be Oregon cuz they aren't going where they've already been.
I am going back to my original guess of Northern California, (where I grew up), in the "Gold" country. Those trees and the layers of MOUNTAINS behind them looked like home. Also, the GOLDEN TICKET clue means more in Northern California than Southern Cali because the heart of the gold rush happened in the North. There is even a small town in the Gold-Country called "APPLE"-Hill famous for its apples! Which isn't too far from LAKE Tahoe, California side: WIND, WATER, BREEZE, COVE, SAND, FUN, CASINO, etc.
And finally, Tahoe is considered to be the last remnants of an ancient SEA and if you're not careful you might hit a DEAR (tee hee) on the drive there!!!!
Posted by Jennifer – March 4, 2008 9:08 PM
PA. The area has so many developing outbranching building sites you could go crazy just trying to decide. OR Washington
Posted by Mary – March 4, 2008 9:47 PM
Would be cool if you all came to a nice southern town like Madison Mississippi. Nothing ever happens here. The big city folks leave us out! Well, here's your chance to change it all....come on out to the M.I. croocked letter crooked letter I. crooked letter crooked letter I. hump back hump back I!
Posted by Dyon – March 4, 2008 9:51 PM
Are these any clues....on the Dream Home Central page they have 3 photos. They were a picture of a quitar, the Las Vegas sign, and the space needle. Today they changed the pictures to the Hollywood sign, a horse in a pasture, and lighthouse in the ocean. Anybody think these mean something?
Posted by Jeri – March 4, 2008 9:54 PM
The video looks like it is in the mountains. Mountain was also in one of the scrabbles. Rain, apple cove tells me this might be Washington state. Could be the Seattle area. Hope it was not one of the homes that was set afire by some very sick person or persons. Will be watching for the next clue on this week's House Hunters.
Posted by Mae – March 4, 2008 10:04 PM
I just heard a commercial on TV and I'm sure I heard them saw something about the hgtv house starting in Hilton Head, S.C.
Posted by Linda – March 4, 2008 10:16 PM
I think maybe the mountains of Gatlinburg Tennessee.
Posted by Laura – March 4, 2008 10:19 PM
The TV Guide shows "Savannah;" however, there are 3 states with the City of Savannah located in them. Guess I'll have to watch to see what state it may be.
Posted by BJ – March 4, 2008 11:29 PM
Can't wait to catch the next clue Thursday night on House Hunters(thankfully AFTER LOST...)
I keep thinking - we have had Dream Homes along the coastal states, the south, the southwest, the northwest - why not somewhere in the midwest, where they have never been before?
Unless my bubble gets burst after the next clue I will stick with South Dakota for now...the "golden ticket" is there!
And wouldn't a fabulous log home with native american decor, a large stone fireplace and a wrap-around veranda be divine?
Ahhhh......

Wow a video clue, and one to follow on thursday on house hunters. Can't wait. I still am sticking with AZ, nothing has been drastically off of AZ so I'm sticking with it. Yes there are mountains in AZ, ever here of Flagstaff, beautiful place and if you look closely in the video, it appears to be almost desert like at the bottom of the mountain. Guess I'll wait and see what the clue holds for thursday. This is so much fun. Blessings to all my fellow Bloggers and heres to the dawning of a new spring.

What about Arkansas?
Posted by Ann – March 5, 2008 12:02 AM
What do you think the 3 pictures mean? They seem to be concentrating more on the sky in the Hollywood picture, and this leads me to believe these pictures have something to do with the color blue. Blue skies, blue water, and the horse could be from the Bluegrass State (The horse racing capitol Kentucky). Any other ideas. Maybe they are eliminating states with all the pictures.
Posted by Me – March 5, 2008 12:15 AM
I think Jandi has something with Apple Cove Point on Puget Sound. I googled it & found Apple Tree Cove near Kingston, WA--Looks likely. Although still not dismissing Northern California.
Posted by Bev – March 5, 2008 12:21 AM
Maybe Blue Ridge Mountains at the very beginning of the video there is a couple of white small houses or buildings and light land to the right and down below in the valley, or maybe it could be some place like Flagstaf, Az.
Posted by Norma – March 5, 2008 4:52 AM
It has to be Monterey California...
Posted by Derrick – March 5, 2008 6:11 AM
I am thinking it is in the Lake Erie valley of Ohio.
Posted by Sebrina – March 5, 2008 6:34 AM
Washington. Near North Head? Modips? Westport? The Long Beach Peninsula?

I am going to stick with UTAH will be watching HOUSE HUNTERS (LOVE THIS SHOW) but my favorite show on HGTV is (IF Walls Could Talk)of course all the shows are very appealing and offer an abundance of information .
NAKOMA at Deer Valley® - Nakoma occupies an exceptional location, on the slopes of Deer Valley Resort and Empire Pass, at the base of the new Lady Morgan Chairlift. When do we find out?? TEll us, Tell us, PLEASE!!!
Posted by Tammy – March 5, 2008 9:29 AM
IT'S NOT ANY STATE THAT IS NOT IN THE MOUNTAIN ZONE. IT IS A STATE THAT HAS A WARM CLIMATE. IT IS NOT UTAH BECAUSE UTAH DOESN'T ALLOW GAMBLING. THE NORTHERN MOUNTAIN ZONE STATES ARE TOO COLD, AND THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN TO COLORADO ANYWAY. THAT LEAVES ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO. THE FIRST CLUE WAS GLOBE. THERE IS A GLOBE, ARIZONA, SO NAMED FOR A LARGE SILVER NUGGEST DISCOVERED THERE THAT RESEMBLES A GLOBE. THERE IS A NEARBY CASINO AND THE ZEBRA PLANT THRIVES THERE. THEY HAVE AN ANNUAL ALOHA FEST. THEY HAVE EVERY CLUE THERE. THE ANSWER IS: GLOBE, ARIZONA.
Posted by Julie – March 5, 2008 9:29 AM
I said Park City, UT before (The Canyons), but I think I've narrowed it down to the Silver Star Resort area. The clues seem to fit!
Posted by Jennifer A. in WI – March 5, 2008 10:18 AM
I think the 2009 HGTV house will be built somewhere on Mobile Bay in Alabama, maybe in Daphne. I first thought Louisianna. I am pretty sure now it will be in Alabmama.

So is anyone else having problems in trying to play the video. I keep getting 'Sorry trying to find the video. Please choose video.' Any solutions?
Posted by marjie – March 5, 2008 10:42 AM
We guess Sierra Nevada, Nevada.
Posted by Brian – March 5, 2008 10:52 AM
I think its Kansas.
It's the sunflower state - it has a warm wind that comes in the winter - they ran silver in the olden days on the Santa Fe Trail, which ran thru Kansas. All of these words were on the scrabble board.
Posted by Julie – March 5, 2008 10:59 AM
There's no place like Washington state for apples and rain!
Posted by tracey – March 5, 2008 11:01 AM
Well, just anywhere in Nevada. Maybe Spring Mountain.
Posted by Brian – March 5, 2008 11:08 AM
That house more likely to be in California
Posted by Maria Marchand – March 5, 2008 11:29 AM
Not sure at this time, but I'm thinking Connecticut
Posted by Fred – March 5, 2008 11:30 AM
Kansas
dive=sky diving;sunflower=state flower;lifeboat=organization that helped cure the flu at Camp Funston, KS;silver=carried thru Kansas on the Santa Fe Trail;bees=Killer bees that have been invading the state;apple=Manhattan, KS nickname "The Little Apple",BBQ=Kansas famous for BBQ cuisine.

In our daily newspaper today, a development called Tradition Hilton Head said that a "Green" house that had just been built there (in Bluffton, SC) was going to be the next one in the sweeps. However, the trees in the photo don't match.
Posted by Kathy K – March 5, 2008 1:43 PM
Rain, Apples, Mountains, etc. After that video it could be Washington state but whereever it is I'm glad it is back up in the mountains!! It is beautiful and I'm already excited. I'll be looking forward to more info on House Hunters.

Such good arguments...I loved Jennifer's argument for NCAL 3/4 9:08, very convincing and I would love to see the DH come to CA. Then I read Lynda & Jennifer's thoughts on UT and found myself thinking YEAH, UT is beatiful, too. Then Julie swayed me back to AZ...the southwest has a true unique beauty all its own, and was one of my favorite stops on the family cross country vacations. Those family vacations taught me that every place in this country has its own charm and beauty and I know that I'll be entering the contest next year and dream living there.
I'm still crossing my fingers for Hawaii...ever since my 1st trip there, it's been my dream to move to the islands. Any one of them.
Good luck to everyone and ALOHA!!!
Posted by Becky from Napa Valley – March 5, 2008 1:47 PM
Well, I think it might be Tennessee
Zebra Swallowtail is the state butterfly.
They have Ruby Falls, Lost Sea and there is an Erie, TN. The giant whorled sunflower was discovered in 1892 in TN. TN is made up of historical roads. TN has apple orchards and produces cane. There's mountains, lakes and of course the TN Titans. Tomatoes are Tennessee's # 1 fruit crop. Also known for their great BBQ. Nearly 17,000 Cherokees were uprooted from their homes between 1838 and 1839 and were forced by the U.S. military to march from "emigration depots" in Eastern Tennessee toward the more distant Indian Territory west of Arkansas. During this relocation an estimated 4,000 Cherokees died along the way west. In the Cherokee language, the event is called Nunna daul Isunyi—"the Trail Where We Cried." The Southern Baptist Convention's general headquarters are in Nashville. Beef cattle are found in 59% of the farms in the state.

Posted by js – March 5, 2008 3:36 PM
Okay..It has to be the Washington DC Area.
Posted by rose – March 5, 2008 3:46 PM
I have have rethought my original guess and now think the next Dream Home will be in the state of Washington. "Apples" are grown in Washington, Dairy Farmers produce "Yogurt" in Washington, Washington Redskins punt the ball at the football games. Mount Erie is in Washington, You have lakes, rain, sun, in Washington. Wool Growers in Washington. Knot is a nautical term. Washington has casinos. "Vet"erans live in Washington. Early Girl Tomatoes are widely grown in the Puget Sound area. "Wheat" at $1.3 billion tops Washington's agriculture exports for 2007; grow "Palm" Trees in Puyallup, WA.; "Beef":In the state of Washington there are 13,000 ranchers and cattlemen and 810 dairy farmers located in almost every county in the state. A few words have thrown me off - zebra could mean zebra mussels which were found in state of Washington. Sunflower is another word that just doesn't fit. Of course, another location could be Flagstaff AR however then Erie wouldn't fit. So I am leaning to the State of Washington. They also have Indian Reservations. Washington has a film commission to attract the film industry to the State. That's my two cents.
Posted by Susan – March 5, 2008 4:29 PM
Before the video with Jack there is a clip of Meet the Neely's from the Food Channel. They have a BBQ restaurant in Memphis, TN. Think there is any connection?????
Posted by Becky – March 5, 2008 4:59 PM
When I first saw the trees I thought my home state of Idaho. It could also very well be Tahoe, Nevada or Cali. As for the Aloha clue, there are weather systems that come from Hawaii and travel through northern cal/nevada called the "Aloha/Pineapple express." This is the cause of much of the snow in the Sierras. (FYI, haha).
Maybe I'm just hoping Tahoe because it would be the absolute epitamy of my dream place to live!
Washington is one of my top 3 guesses too. Good arguments.
Anyone know when they open the contest up?
Posted by Katie – March 5, 2008 5:51 PM
Cleveland -- On Lake Erie, Music(Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame)
Posted by Mark – March 5, 2008 6:08 PM
I live in Washington and I must say that the video postcard showed what looked like our evergreen trees! ; ) That would be wonderful if they did a home here.
Posted by Bev – March 5, 2008 6:36 PM
That looks like Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, AZ. The trees look very similar as well as the flat land behind Jack. That is my guess for now until the next clue on House Hunters.
Posted by zazoo – March 5, 2008 7:20 PM
is it los angeles, ca?
Posted by dream home fan – March 5, 2008 7:21 PM
I've been thinking that the new home for this year will be built in New Orleans, La. Somewhere in the Garden District. Maybe to replace one of the damaged homes from Hurricane Katrina.
New Orleans is such an exotic, deversified, inchanting - romatic city.
Posted by Barbara – March 5, 2008 7:47 PM
The next dream home is in hawaii
Posted by Valerie – March 5, 2008 7:49 PM
I missed the earlier clues from the 2008 Dream Home; however, I am guessing it's the State of Washington. There is Greek mythology attached to Olympia (as in Olympia, WA). Atlas (who held up the world or the globe) fought with the Titans on Mount Olympus. Mount Olympus can be seem from the High Divide Trail in Washington.
Mount Erie or Lake Erie (near the San Juan Islands) are outside of Olympia, WA, near Anacrotes, WA. Zebra mussels and sunflower starfish abound.
And, the Pineapple Express is a jet stream that affects the Puget Sound area, and brings much rain. The climate is beautiful, though, and the mild climate allows for sun.
And, Washington exports apples!

It looks like my "old ky home", to me maybe pine mountain, blackmountain, or the Pinnacle (a beautiful park where you can see 3 states. Or even pigeon forge, Knoxville, Kingsport Harrogate, Tennessee Or Virginia...
Posted by Carrie MIracle – March 5, 2008 8:59 PM
I believe it's going to be Pennsylvania - I think Mary mentioned that. There are only three clues in the second scrabble board, right? It doesn't say how many apply from the first board, correct? I think people are pulling too many clues from the first board. I'm going with PA.
Posted by Caroline – March 5, 2008 9:00 PM
I suspect the next Dream House (2009) would be either Nevada or Arizona. Why do I think that. I read scrabble in both clue #3 and #4. I see sand, dance, breezy, windy, etc like that. That made me think of Nevada or Arizona. I might be wrong. I hope I am wrong because I would like for them to pick Oklahoma for next Dream House.
Posted by Portia – March 5, 2008 9:18 PM
I think it's Washington State as well!
Posted by Veronica – March 5, 2008 9:28 PM
A comment on the Golden Tickets...it could refer to the Golden Ticket Agency that brokers Utah Jazz tickets. The "bees" clue could be about the fact that the honeybee is the state insect for Utah. So, I'm sticking with Utah!

Moab, Utah
dry land..arches, mountains, colorado river

I agree with a former comment - I think along the Lake Erie coastline, and Presque Isle PA sounds like a good choice. There is a lighthouse there, and a lot of the words deal with sand, boats, wind, coves, etc. Just look it up on Google and see the map.

I think that the DH 2009 will be built in one of four states. Michgan, Ohio, Pennsylvania or New York. The scrabble board had the word Erie spelled out on it, in one of the photos. The video of the planner had trees that are found in those states and the layout of the land is also familiar in those areas. Lake Eries borders those states and you never know...have you been to lake Erie?

Well, seeing as how America's Home Place is building the home, and that they only build in the Southeast, AND the fact that the 2008 home was in florida, I would venture to say that the home will be in either Georgia, Tennessee, or South Carolina.
Posted by Anonymous – March 6, 2008 9:33 AM
Well, it seemed pretty obvious from watching HH that it is SanDiego, CA. The less obvious choice would is New Mexico.

I remember last year & at the beginning of this year, bloggers were saying, WHY DON'T YOU BUILD 2
homes that people can afford.
Clue #1- GLOBE
HGTV and others partners started a project called CHANGE THE WORLD. The campaign focuses on revitalizing communities across the country. The cities that were in the running were:
1) ATLANTA
2) BALTIMORE
3) BOSTON
4) DENVER
5) LONG ISLAND
6) NEW ORLEANS
7) PORTLAND OR.
8) SAN FRANCISCO
9) TWIN CITIES MN.
10)WASHINGTON D.C.
America Voted and the 4 cities who will get revitalized, was announced on Jan. 1st live at the Rose Parade (the same day we started entering the Dream Home). The winners are:
Clue # 2---Golden Ticket:
1) BALTIMORE
2) DENVER
3) TWIN CITIES
4) WASHINGTON D.C.
These cities join N. Orleans still recovering from Hurricane Katrina & Rita as beneficiaries of the first annual Change The World.
Clue # 3-- Scabble board # 1 BBQ/BEEF
New Orleans noted for this.
Clue # 4--- Scrabble board #2 WISH/HGTV/LOVE
Could mean 2 affordable homes.
Clue # 5--- Watch House Hunters (what a million dollars will buy). Maybe they are building two homes in diffent states, each worth a million dollars.
I am probably way off base with this, but it is something to think about. If anything I have told you about the CHANGE THE WORLD PROJECT. I guess we will all have to watch the House Hunters
show tonight for clue # 6.

I'm Soooooo Glad because i always watch House Hunters and this seams like it will be a good mystery.
Posted by Alex – March 6, 2008 9:50 AM
I think that one of the scrabble boards said "mountain time" and another clue was it isn't in a state that has previously housed a dream home. The states in the mountian time zone that have already been used are CO and WY. So, that leaves ID, MT, UT, AZ, or NM. I'm leaning towards UT.
Posted by Lindsay – March 6, 2008 10:19 AM
Ok so Hawaii is not it, The trees behind Jack do not look like Hawaii, I'm lost here, It looks like a forest area behind Jack, that could be any where as we have lots of beautiful mountains and forest areas in the U.S. I can't wait to watch House Hunters tonight. My husband calls me an HGTV junkie. I love this channel.
Posted by vickie – March 6, 2008 10:21 AM
That video does NOT look like anything here in East TN... We don't have a lot of pine trees like that... I'm still favoring the western part of the US.. AZ, NM, WA, Lake Tahoe (CA or NV) ... Wherever it is, I'm sure it will be absolutely beautiful.
Posted by Kina – March 6, 2008 10:27 AM
Hmmmm -- Branson,Missouri? It has a rural, easy lifestyle, yet also offers upscale entertainment with shows, music, and lakes for water activity, etc.
Posted by Wanda – March 6, 2008 10:38 AM
Hilton Head, S.C Godd golfing. ...Please consider building one on the lake in Hot Springs, AR , sometime. David

I have to say my first thought with all the pictures of orange was southern California, but then I thought..No. Now, as I go through the clues again I can not help but be drawn to San Diego?
What a great place to build if that is it.
Posted by LindaS – March 6, 2008 11:17 AM
I think it it oregon
Posted by kaye – March 6, 2008 11:52 AM
Also, I forgot to add that I noticed on a map that Bremerton, WA (which is about midway between Olympia, WA and Mount Erie in Anacortes, WA) is dotted by places with names such as "Sea"beck, "Silver"dale, Port "Orchard" (apples), "Holly" (as in Hollywood), and Port "Gamble" (casinos). Also nearby is the Port Gamble Indian Reservation (as well as other Native American sovereign nations in the Pacific Northwest area).
Also, I forgot to mention that the Pineapple Express is a jet stream that moves down from Hawaii (aloha) to Vancouver and the Puget Sound.
Again, I'm sorry I missed all the clues posted in the 2008 Dream Home. I am operating off of clues from other viewers on the blog.

Everyone has performed such outstanding research and I agree with so many of the analysis. The one I most agree with would be Susan's posted March 5th... being Globe, AZ. She has a strong platform. Yet, my instinct says Erie, Pa. But hey, my instinct is not always right...LOL.
Posted by Wanda – March 6, 2008 12:38 PM
I think it is wonderful that everyone has put much effort into researching this question. I agree most with Susan...posted March 5th... Globe, AZ. Yet, my instinct tells me to guess Erie, Pa. But hey, my instinct is not always correct....LOL
Posted by Wanda – March 6, 2008 12:44 PM
Definatly looks more pacific northwest... Being from Oregon. Im guessing Idaho too. Oregon and Washington have already been used for states right? coeur de lene area would be the best choice of area so far that I have seen a home built. Absolutely beautiful area!! Mountan, Silver, Sand, dry? Some of the words on scrabble board that would definatly apply to area. Lots of lakes, great location, something for everyone!
Posted by 2008winner – March 6, 2008 1:00 PM
we are so stuck on some of the words on the scrabble board ...so were thinking mountain time zone .....so we are still guessing utah or montana or arizona ...as the others already had dream homes already built .....
Posted by mandy and chaz – March 6, 2008 1:31 PM
I think it's in New Mexico, I'm thinking Cloudcroft maybe. It would be very intresting if it is there. Little known area, dry windy, Gambling and skiing nearby, moutain top views of a sand sea (i.e. White Sands). Very windy on some days. Looks like the video.
Posted by Eric – March 6, 2008 1:49 PM
What about New Mexico or Oklahoma. The video actually looks like small moutains in some areas of both states. Maybe Southeastern OK or in New Mexico, unless it's "Globe" Arizonia or something. Maybe it's Cloudcroft New Mexico.
Posted by eric – March 6, 2008 2:11 PM
although washington is a good guess ... im goin with hawaii. gotta be! the new board has aloha on it. if you look on the previous scrabble board bottom right .cane, sea, and palms are on it check it out.
Posted by michael – March 6, 2008 2:35 PM
I still think it is Arizona, but Utah seems to have good connections too, my second choice. Hope the clues are good ones tonight! Just love the suspense!
Posted by robin – March 6, 2008 2:53 PM
I say Lake ERIE? Those words were on the board too.
Posted by Amber Seipert – March 6, 2008 2:56 PM
I have to go with Oregon. Too many of the scrabble words seem to work best with this State.
Posted by Dave – March 6, 2008 3:04 PM
Well I am hoping for Washington State, it is one of the most beautiful states, clean fresh air, trees and the coast. Can't wait to find out, I will be watching for the clues.
Posted by Denise E – March 6, 2008 3:06 PM
just pointed out to me, It can't be Oregon as it was one of the past locations. Washington State it is.
Posted by Dave – March 6, 2008 3:31 PM
i think its gonna be in northern Cali it looks like trees around San Fransisco or Near Monterey so think in one of those places.
Posted by morgan – March 6, 2008 4:22 PM
Oregon would be my guess!

alaska
Posted by Anonymous – March 6, 2008 5:05 PM
I'm guessing Lake Tahoe. Maybe, Zephyr Cove, NV. The clues seem to point to that area.
Posted by sdd – March 6, 2008 6:01 PM
Well, it must be Tennessee
Zebra Swallowtail is the state butterfly. Mockingbird the state bird. Iris the state flower. They have Ruby Falls, Lost Sea and there is an Erie, TN. There are the Smoky Mountains, Appalachian Mountains and Iron Mountains. The sunflower was discovered in TN. TN is made up of historical roads. TN has apple orchards and produces cane, cotton and soybeans. There's Reelfoot Lake, an oxbow lake with cypress trees and bald eagles and crappie. Tomatoes are Tennessee's #1 fruit crop. Known for their great BBQ. Huge indian history there, Knoxville named for General Henry Knox. Beef cattle are found in 59% of the farms in the state. It can't be Washington!
Posted by Carol from Seattle – March 6, 2008 6:07 PM
Also, I noticed on the map that the San Juan Islands in WA have a Deer Harbor (Dear) and Doe Bay.
Posted by M – March 6, 2008 7:55 PM
Washington? I hope not. But it would be nice to be Nevada.
Posted by judi Haller – March 6, 2008 7:59 PM
I know there is no sea in these areas but Ky And Tn is my guess. The haziness in the video looks so much like the haze you see on the Smokies " which was why it's called the Smoky Mountains because most days they have a haziness to them. But the video picture veiw could also look like that any where near a cove and a lake or even a mountain valley. I know several places in Ky or Tn that you could have an overlook pullover view like in the video. You could hear traffic moving.
I can't wait to see the clue tonight. Question: fcole are the state identifiable pictures on the home page that are changing eliminated clues......?

Connecticut is the next dream house.
Posted by Toots – March 6, 2008 10:37 PM
The previous clues sound like Las Vegas to me, but the House Hunters show seems to indicate either Savannah or Connecticut.
Posted by michael – March 6, 2008 10:39 PM
It's Washington. They show the sign for Washington Park at one of the houses the guy is looking at.
Posted by Jason – March 6, 2008 10:46 PM
YES...IT IS GOING TO BE LAS VEGAS...Vegas was mentioned in a commercial for an upcomgin one million dollar House Hunters episode.
Mystery solved!!

Anacortes or Fidalgo Island Washington state
Posted by suz – March 6, 2008 10:52 PM
WAIT...IT COULD BE RENO, NEVADA...That would make sense with the Silver Lake clue. So either Las Vegas or Reno.
Posted by michael – March 6, 2008 10:54 PM
From clue #5, it is San Diego, Ca.
Posted by Bonnie – March 6, 2008 11:04 PM
the clue is west of the Mississippi
West Point, Mississippi????? Will you please tell us if one of us is right???
Posted by Carrie Miracle – March 6, 2008 11:08 PM
Definitely, a lot on Silver Lake, near Reno, Nevada. That makes sens with all the Scrabble board clues...It also makes sense with the Pine trees behind Jack in the video

West, Mississippi????????? (No, Carrie, west OF the Mississippi. As in river. fc)

I'm confused, I started watching at 8pm central time and House Hunters did not come on,and its 10:13 pm now, I live around Nashville, Tennessee. I don't know what happen. I guess I will have to depend the rest of the clues. (Hey Vickie, the House Hunters with the clue came on at 9pm Nashville time. Check the comments above, you'll find the clue. fc)
Posted by Vickie – March 6, 2008 11:16 PM
Based on the majority of House Hunters that I watched, the only clue could be that it is in Connecticut (Georgia has been done already) - or did I miss something? Wherever it is, I'm sure it will be beautiful!
Posted by Carol – March 6, 2008 11:19 PM
JC, u r the coolest, Jason got the clue too. Washington Square...ie (Washington State) ;) Thanks!
Posted by Kim – March 6, 2008 11:24 PM
We watched house hunters, they were in Savannah and the homes were amazing. A little disappointing that no home on that show had a yard, however i'd give up yard for that fabulous deck off the bedroom upstairs on the 2nd? home. But Savanah isnt any where near the clues you gave. I'm so confused HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep the clues coming the deadline is almost here and I want to get it right LOLOLOLOL

Washington State for sure!
Ferndale and Blaine very close to the Canadian Border (arch). Silver Reef Casino in Ferndale.
Add Globe Positioning System- (Geocaching),
Very close to Beautiful Bellingham and only a short drive to Seattle. Lived in Ferndale 4 years ago. Love the Pacific Northwest!
efole: we need one last clue. It can be anywhere in Washington.

So after 5 clues where do I think it is? - STILL HAS TO BE SOUTH DAKOTA, in the black hills area!
Clue#1: Where they have never been
Well this was a simple no-brainer, eliminate the states where there have been Dream Homes..and I decided to go a step farther and include a REGION (midwest) where they have never been
Clue#2: See if you can find the golden ticket
State wide lottery named the "Golden Ticket"
Clue#3: Let's play SCRABBLE!
I played with this one and decided to go with only three main clues off the board: Mountain, Zone and grief. Although I could certainly "fit" some of the other words into my reasoning as well.
Western South Dakota ( the black hills area IS in the Mountain Time Zone and the massacre at Wounded Knee certainly fits the grief)
Clue#4: More SCRABBLE!
Okay...this was tougher - I chose to go with
Sun,Dance and breeze.
The Sun Dance ceremony is an important renewal and prayer time for the Sioux nation...and the black hills area (as in Spearfish, S.D) hold's the record for the largest temperature change, 49 degrees in only 2 minutes due to the chinook winds.
Clue#5: Video...could definitely be from the black hills of South Dakota AND it is WEST of the Mississippi!
I have to stay with South Dakota....maybe even the Spearfish Canyon area.

Well all this time i have been saying the the next home was in AZ, however I watched the house hunters episode tonight, and the guy while he currently lived in Savannah, was actually from Los Angeles CA. Now while I don't think it will actually be in LA, there is a possibility that the next home will be in CA. Hopefully northern CA, not that anyone would be able to afford to live in CA. So while I am still hoping for AZ, it looks like it my be CA.
Posted by Cindy – March 7, 2008 12:36 AM
Patsy, your guess looks good to me. View looks like the video clue and it makes sense to build inland away from the high cost areas. My guess is close to Bellingham, Wa near Mt. Baker.
Good luck!

VA, next to Washington D.C.. (Washington Square, Federal Way) Virginia Air and Space Center has a "Willy Wonka" Gold ticket contest going on. Virginia has casinos, mountains, loblolly and white pine forests, beaches, coves, falls, a Virginia Sunflower, tomatoes, apples, mines, Vet center (Arlington National Cemetery, Pentagon, etc.) Roanoke, battlegrounds, cemetery...politics=grief.
Ministries (prayer) Aloha Summer Luau in Hampton. Virginia Globe, wild horses, lighthouse, coastline, Erie, etc.

Posted by Derrick – March 7, 2008 2:26 AM
Ok how about..Silver Lake in LA but it's densely populated and aren't all the dream houses off in the middle of no where?
Posted by Derrick – March 7, 2008 2:32 AM
It's gotta be Arizona - most likely in the Payson or Mongollon Rim area. View in video looks similar to views from the Rim...or many other MOUNTAINs in AZ.
SUNFLOWER, AZ is just south of Payson, which is a ghost town from the Sunflower MINE - which mined quickSILVER (mercury).
GLOBE, AZ, is located in the SILVER belt.
Also in this area - Cove ARCH...Bumble BEE, AZ, which is another ghost town.
...........Need I continue?!?!
The Grand FALLS (taller than Niagara Falls), are east of Flagstaff.
Tonto Natural Bridge is also in the area - it forms a natural ARCH. Very WINDY in this entire area. DRY in the desert and soil is SAND.
CASINOs in both GLOBE and Payson.
San Francisco Peaks are the MOUNTAINs in Flagstaff......MOUNTAIN Time ZONE and the SUN shines about 90% of the days of the year in AZ.
PALM trees.....AZ is cowboy country -BEEF and BBQ.

The only thing I got out of the show was possibly Washington state since one of the 3 homes was across from Washington Square. That would certainly be narrowing it down.
Posted by Sandy – March 7, 2008 7:34 AM
Oh my goodness! There is a Forsyth Creek in Utah, in Washington County!!!!! I have no idea if this is an appealing area, but that sounds like a match to me!

Last evening on House Hunters they were in Savanna Georgia
Ø There was a mention of New York (The Park in New York)
Ø There was a mention of Washington Avenue or street )

Ø There was also a mention of PARK six times during the show
Then the next show of House Hunters was in Connectcut but didn’t watch all of this one fell asleep zzzzzzzz (The Clue said at 10:00)
Ø Arch

Sorry, Pret, but I used almost all of the Scrabble board clues and kept coming up with Utah. As for the clue on House Hunters...if you all came up with such different answers then that clue wasn't as specific as fcole said it would be. Guess we'll all have to wait and see what comes next.
Posted by Catherine – March 7, 2008 8:43 AM
It's Las Vegas, baby!
Posted by Linda – March 7, 2008 8:43 AM
Wow Patsy, that sure looks like the area in Jack's video. That is just a beautiful part of the country!
I went back and looked at homes in Washington Co. UT, there were some lovely expensive places, but the terrain did not at all match where Jack was! It was very desert-like and scrubby and reddish. Well, I am not sure what exactly was a clue from the House Hunters show, I thought Forsyth MUST be in it somewhere, as that is where he finally purchased. I'll keep mulling this over!

FC also told Carrie it was west OF Mississippi. As in river. Jason got the clue too, it's Washington state.:)

FORSYTH, MISSOURI in the Ozark Mountains. WAHINGTON STATE PARK just outside of St. Louis, MISSOURI. Last but not least MISSOURI just WEST OF THE GREAT MISSISSIPPI RIVER!!! LAKE OZARK, MISSOURI website gets 10 million hits a year!!!
Posted by TAMMY MAST – March 7, 2008 9:45 AM
It is either Deer Harbor or Doe Bay in the San Juan Islands in WA.
I am assuming the San Juan Islands were named in honor of St. John the "Baptist." The location of the islands supports the nautical reference to "knots." My understanding is that the varied climates of the different islands support a variety of industries including raising cattle ("beef" and "yogurt") and agriculture ("tomatoes"). The islands include the San Juan Island National Historical Park, the Lime Kiln Point State Park, the Spencer Spit State Park, the Jones Island State Park, the Posey Island State Park, and the Moran State Park (just to name a few). And, then there is Doe Island State Park in the San Juan Islands in WA! And, there is the mention of "dear" as in Deer Harbor or possibly Doe Bay, San Juan Islands, WA.
Posted by M – March 7, 2008 10:01 AM
I still say Lake Tahoe Nevada
Posted by PFH – March 7, 2008 10:42 AM
I have a new view on this. I thought New Mexico but...Give the "Knot" Mountain Time on scrabble board and now West of the Mississippi, that leaves Pacific time, some Central time states, and Hawaii time!!!! Could be northern Idaho, or Washington State
Posted by Marjie – March 7, 2008 11:01 AM
Once, again. Undoubtedly, the next dream home will be in Globe, Arizona. I know the photographic depictions of the terrain, and remember the desk globe in the clue.
Posted by Chandler – March 7, 2008 11:11 AM
Still wishing it's Hawaii...but could be my second guess Arizona
Posted by Vicki – March 7, 2008 11:19 AM
HeLLOOO! It's Globe, Arizona. I'd bet my shorts. Look at the photos, and remember the desk globe. I said this two weeks ago.
Posted by Chandler – March 7, 2008 11:22 AM
It could also be Doe Island, San Juan Islands, WA.
Posted by M – March 7, 2008 12:31 PM
Miss Patsy could very well be right about The Reserve @ Sqaulicum Mountain near Bellingham, WA! HGTV would go into a new development to pick THE prime spot, it seems to have the right elevation of the video as well as the vegetation (those might be huckleberry bushes behind him!)and the website won't let you view the sold lot! Washington would be a great site for a home and I have heard that Bellingham is a wonderful area. Of the twenty states that it could be in...I think I have narrowed it down to the five that are in the Mountain Time Zone and have mountainous regions SD, MT, NM, NV, UT or WA. I hope the next clue narrows it down for us!
Posted by Carin – March 7, 2008 12:48 PM
I think it's Washington State. On the scrabble board, apple, punt and rain were together. She said at least 3 clues apply didn't she? Not only do we have apples, but the BIG GAME is the APPLE CUP between our two rival universities. And, of course, we have rain. We have mountains (doesn't have to mean a "time" zone), Casinos and are west of the Miss. Most other things have been mentioned - Oh, but Susan, we have the Seahawks - not the Redskins - my guess is that they are the "other" Washington...
Posted by Anne B. – March 7, 2008 1:03 PM
I noticed a lot of people are saying Washington, but if you look at the map of states in the mountain time zone and take out the ones that have already had a dream home, you have these states left: Montana, the southern part of Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and western pieces of Kansas, Nebraska and North and South Dakota. I also noticed the sunflower clue on the scrabble board...Kansas is the sunflower state. There are lots of clues and many ways to make them fit what you want. The clues haven't even pinpointed the state yet let alone the actual spot....Patience is a virtue....
Posted by Gale – March 7, 2008 1:43 PM
And since there is a WASHINGTON Nat'l PARK in Utah I'm standing by my choice. I've never been correct before on the location but this one just seems to be it!

WASHINGTON!! Without a doubt! Yeah!
That was a big shout out on the sign last night on House Hunters. I think it's up towards Bellingham.
Posted by Judi – March 7, 2008 2:54 PM
Watching the 'House Hunter's' last night really had me glued to the TV. The only "juicy" item that I noticed was the mixture of cantaloupe and honeydew melon that Dean was serving his family members that were visiting him. Although, the mother/daughter team that were speaking off & on during the show were rather "gossipy." But, as far as the cantaloupe goes, I've done a search and found that AZ is one of the largest growers of cantaloupe.
*The cantaloupe is grown in Parker, AZ (in Mountain Time Zone). That's my first guess, not just for that reason. Parker is in the northern corner of the Colorado River Indian Tribe Reservation.
*The Blue Water Casino & Resort are there, with gambling of course.
*Close by are several mountain ranges and the Sonora Desert (dry).
*Parker also hosts the Bluegrass Festival (music) on the river.
*With fishing, boating, and camping(fun)available. All of these particular things fit with clues off of the 1st and 2nd Scrabble boards.
*Near by Parker is the Bill Wms National Wildlife Refuge. North of Parker Dam the Bill Wms River flows into Lake (lake) Havasu.
*On this Refuge live mule deer (dear).
*The Kofa Refuge is South of Parker. Here there are zebra-tailed (zebra) lizards.
It may be a long shot, but, what have I got to lose? Don't know if anyone other than Indians can build on a Reservation.

The HUGE sign that was zoomed in on in House Hunters last night said WASHINGTON PARK. Since everything else points west, I'm still gonna go with Washington State.

Clues on scrabble are cove, rain & breezy. On Monoply screen it says big on green (Pacific). It is going to be Washington.

Wondering if it may be Santa Cruz--due to Boardwalk and on the bay in California?
Posted by chris – March 12, 2008 12:06 PM
Santa Cruz is very in to the whole green thing--it even has a bunch of hands holding up a globe on their environtmental pages. I feel that the new green house would fit in perfectly into a city known for their going green since 1996! There is mention of Loch Lomond on their site and trees are similar to those seen in the picture. There are lots of wind and surf--it was once called surf city--there are pictures of deer in nearby woods. Sounds convincing eh?

Okay from reviewing the scrabbles pieces, and reading all of the comments my mom and I agreed on either Reno, Navada or Lake Tahoe.

I'm still hoping that I win the 2008 home in the Keys, as it is given away on my birthday. We have a nephew that lives in Orlando who has been in a wheel chair since he was thirteen, and doesn't have a place of his own. Would love to be able to tell him come and live here. If I could win the 2009 home that would be great also if it was located in Sequim WA as we have cousins there that we seldom get to see. Maybe my Orlando relative wouldn't mind moving to Sequim. Haven't got to visit Sequim but it sounds pretty.

Land between the Lakes, Kentucky

I think since its West of MISSISSIPPI, must be Louisiana or Arkansas, which from where TX is this Texarkana, has the best BBQ in the state.....
Posted by Cathy – March 13, 2008 4:28 PM
I think it just might be around the Great
Smokey Mountains somewhere.....if not, that
would make a wonderful place to do the next one!!!

It looks like Yakima, Wash
