Where will the winner be notified and when?
Will the Dream Home 08 winner be at their own home on Sunday the 16th and hear about winning for the first time when it is announced on the show? Or, will the winner be contacted by phone and flown down to The Shores for the presentation?

Wow already chosen. When will they alert the winner? I know that they have to have some leeway in notifying the winner before the actual giveaway date. Well whomever wins, I hope that they enjoy the home and if they have to sell it then I hope that they can build or buy their dream home where they want. Good Luck to all, and many blessings.

My daughters tell me every morning that they dreamed with the house. My 11 year-old dauhter has in her calender marked on March 16,2008. She loves seeing decorating cents almost all of them when she wakes up early in the morning.
I can't wait who wins. That person with his or her family are so lucky.... hope thats our family!!!

Wow, I entered the contest late, but I "sooooo" need to have a dream home in Florida, I live in cold Michigan and we sure have had our share of snow this winter; you see I suffer from S.A.D-Seasonal Affective Disorder which is a debilitating illness due to lack of sunshine! I told my husband I had entered the contest and that we are "Going to Win" a dream home in Florida and then next winter I can be there in the sunshine! Peace

I have been praying for this on a daily basis, not that I am better than anyone else. However, I have given up alot in my life. I lost both of my children in automobile accidents on the same day (August 4th) eight year apart one mile from where each other got killed, my daughter was 17 and my son was 20, and in 2005 lost everything that I have worked for in a house fire (did not have any insurance coverage because of ex-husband), God carries me daily or I would not have the stength to go on. Please let me be the winner. God Bless whom ever wins.

OMG...this winner is picked!!! Since they contacted a family member prior to the reveal of last years home, I'm thinking they're gonna do the same thing this year. They want it to be a surprise, but with all the money that goes into planning this, someone has to know ahead of time, to make sure the winner is available. I think I'm gonna start calling family and drill them for answers. Someone, somewhere knows something, but I doubt the winner is aware. My b-day is 3/16 too and it would be the coolest thing to win. If I win...I'm giving a shout out to the bloggers.
The guesses for Kansas, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada are looking pretty convincing.
BTW..James, thanks for cracking me up with your guess. Hopefully the warden is cool with the DH being in the prison yard. Can you say location, location, location.

It's my 42nd Birthday on March 1, Saturday. I would love to win the 2008 DReam Home for my husband and I. I was born in Sarasota, Florida in 1966. In 2003, I talked my husband into moving to Western North Carolina, after visiting there on our Anniversary. WE have lived outside of Asheville, NC since 2003. I want to win the 2008 Dream Home so we can move back to Florida. I miss Florida so much! I want this more then anything in the whole world. That would make my dream come true! Just a note to the driver, When coming via the expressway watch for the SOUTH exit it is a bit tricky...

All kidding aside, It has been a tough two years and
as I will probably loss my house due to my permanent disability this would not only put me in a location were I could possibly be more comfortable and put a few stresses behind.

Has the winner been notified yet? I'm sure they would have to have some kind of notification or some way for HGTV to know where they would be the night of the Live Show. I think everyone that entered would LOVE to know if the winner has already been notified or at least if they will be notified before the Live show. The suspense is killing us all. Each morning I joke with one of my co-workers about the Dream Home. We both have jokingly staked claim on the Islamorada beauty. My co-worker visited the home last weekend and she gloated about how beautiful the home and view was from her Master suite. I jokingly replied that I appreciate her keeping an eye on my home while I wasn't there. We both laughed but I would certainly love for that to be the reality!

this place is the most beautiful thing i have seen. It is the perfect home to raise a family in it. Have the beach for fun and sun and later for a late night stroll with the one you love. can you ever imagine wakeing up in the morning while lying in your bed and be bless to have the most awsome views you'll ever see - having coffee or at night having a fire going and looking up into the most beautiful night sky looking at the most beautiful stars in the sky And saying to yourself or family that this peice of heaven is ours. That we now own alittle part of the world. who ever wins this awsome house should truly be in heaven themselves because this is truely a gift from heaven!!!!!

Ooooo..how exciting! Again, I thank HGTV for allowing us to dream. This contest brings about happy feelings, which only emits more happiness that can come into our lives, whether it is the actual dream home or another avenue that might not have happened if we hadn't switched to that 'happy' path. Thank you so much for showing us that daydreaming about living by the ocean, soaking in the suns (especially when you are stuck in a frigid, cold and snow environment) and lounging by a palm tree!!!

I hope that my husband and two kids get it. I know that is like one out of one million to win, but we really love to have it. We have never been to Flordia, but we have heard nothing but good things about it. Didn't you people bother to read the Rules of this contest? It states clearly that the winner will be notified on or about March 16th in person. Didn't you watch in past years? Joan Steffend of Decorating Cents comes in the early morning to the winner's door. They film it and it is part of the Dream House show. So keep a lookout for a strange car parked on your street for a few days before the 16th. It could be Joan!

Hey what happens if you are under 21. I thought you had to be 18 some reason I must have miss read- What happens if they call your name on T.V. and you cannot accept it. Because I got a call today from a sales rep from them-And he gave me complimentary gifts or something and said I was in the running of getting the grand prize-so I went on the website to check it out because I entered a long time ago and realized it said that you have to be 21. What should I do.

I have lived in Key West, Cudoe Key and Big Pine Key all during the six years I resided there. I love the Keys and all it has to offer. I still have friends and family there. Who ever wins this fabulous home will not regret one moment of life in the Keys. I surely wouldn't mind going back myself but, that isn't up to me but to the wonderful people of HGTV and whoever drew the winning name. Good luck to all and God bless.

Like many of you our entire family ( 3 young married sons, each of their wives, 2 little grandkids and one on the way,my husband David and I) have made entering & reentering this contest a huge family deal. We sent daily email reminders to everyone and sat huddled on the couch in anticipation of the HGTV special that revealed this stunning beach house WITH OUR NAME ON IT. There were shouts like, " That's my room!" And "Just put me on that balcony with a good book!" as we excitedly visualized tons of fun family memories in the Keys! We mailed hundreds of (no lie)post card entries attaching a little prayer with each trip to the post office. And today, we know the decision has been made. Awesome! OK, I got it. The 2009 dream home is in Las Vegas. Clue #3 "Fun and Games" had a scrabble board with the word "casino" on it. The 3 pictures of the next home area had the statue of liberty (there is a New York, New York casino in LV), the guitar is from the Hard Rock Cafe in LV, and of course the other sign was LV. Now, do I win the home? haha

I would also need to come up with a plan to work from home since I doubt there are many businesses close by.

The clues I saw on the 2nd scrabble board could refer toall 50 states. Take out the states already used and you have 39 left. When you combine Scrabble 1 and scrabble 2 you get clues like: sun rain, wind, breeze, sea, lake,sand, dry, casino, APPLE, so I am guessing Washington

Well...whoever wins is blessed and I hope they appreciate it. We're a family of six in a 900sq. ft. house but we make the best of it. Can you imagine all that room?!?!? My boys said the Dreamhouse front yard looks as big as a football field and my girls said it looks like a soccer field! LOL

I think it would be really cool if the agency that facilitated the drawing would give the total amount of entries. I really hope my dog can enjoy the dog house as she leaps into the warm ocean water. I think the winner will be phoned (why else did we have to submit our telephone number?) Or the winner will be notified by certified letter. Florida is a favorite for our family. We have spent a many of vacations in Florida. Our family has always been beach people. We tend to gravitate towrd sand & surf. The Islamorada home is fantastic and as always, HGTV has set the bar!It would be a honor, and a pleasure to live and share with family and friends. A holiday trip to Key West and traveling thru the Keys on Christmas Eve, we passed thru every key. We passed fire department trucks decorated with Christmas decor with Santa driving or perched up high. It is still one of our families fun memories. Not many people know of this, and it is a wonderful tradition that bring great holiday joy to many of children and adults. It would be great honor for me and my family. My Italian born mother always says it's true. Only in America!

If I win this dream house...my fear is that I can't simply afford to pay the taxes. I have no choice left but to sell it. In a buyer's market, I just hope I am able to sell it at a fair prize.
Another concern is that , will i be taxed twice? for winning and for selling it?

I have watched and entered at least 7 Dream Home
Sweepstakes. However, I have TWO concerns. (1) Most HGTV fans could never keep the house they win. Why not build two more modest giveaway homes? (2)HGTV's conducting guided tours through the 2008 Dream Home over a period of weeks is appalling and not a good decision. (Example: Is your dream car the one that has been freshly delivered and detailed at your dealership or the one that's been loved, used, and abused by a salesman as a demo car for a couple of months?)

I already live in South Florida for 31 years and to whoever wins this home, you will be living in paradise. I would love to live in the Keys, it's expensive, but I wish the person who wins the house lots of beautiful sunrises and sunsets and a home that most of us who live here would be envious to own. March 16th will not come fast enough!
