HGTV Dream Home

Clue #2: Look What's New in the Foyer

Posted by fcole – February 22, 2008 9:55 AM

We've added a new photo to the slide show of the foyer in HGTV Dream Home 2008, see if you can find the golden ticket. Look for this icon Dream Home Scavenger Hunt Icon on the new image related to the clue.

And remember the first clue — we're going to a state that's never played host to an HGTV Dream Home. Check out the Dream Homes Past section on Dream Home Central for a list of all the previous homes and locations. Again, look for the special icon on the link.

Be sure to watch the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2008 on Sunday, March 16, at 9pm ET/6pm PT when we'll announce the winner of the home in the Florida Keys on live television! We're also giving away a very special prize during the special to one lucky home viewer. I'll have more about that next week. Click here for a hint about the prize we're giving away to a home viewer.

ok, so its a globe? i dont get the clue?

Posted by tyra dachdee – February 22, 2008 10:44 AM

I think it's near San Francisco...

Posted by cat – February 22, 2008 10:52 AM

If where the blue marker is near is an indication as to where the next home may be, I would have to guess somewhere up North (Maine, VT, upstate NY).

Posted by Dee Hobbs – February 22, 2008 11:05 AM

hawaii

Posted by jack – February 22, 2008 11:08 AM

Been to the mountains, been to the sea - what about the desert? Yes?

Posted by dot – February 22, 2008 11:13 AM

If I take the clue too literally, then DH09 is in outer space

:)

Posted by adele – February 22, 2008 11:18 AM

Is that a humuhumunukunukuapuaa? Otherwise known as the Hawaiian state fish?

Posted by sharon – February 22, 2008 11:19 AM

Alaska ?

Posted by steven cornett – February 22, 2008 11:22 AM

If its not on the big island then I would guess the new dream house will be on Maui....

Posted by Nick – February 22, 2008 11:22 AM

I just see a globe..

Posted by Pagliai – February 22, 2008 11:23 AM

Good luck to all, I am sure we have all dreamed
how perfect this Home would be for any of us!!
Ready to join my husband in retirement, Can't
imagine a more beautiful spot or home to retire to. Thanks for all the beautiful day dreams HGTV !

Posted by kath – February 22, 2008 11:24 AM

It will be on one of the virgin islands.

Posted by Maria Lorenzo – February 22, 2008 11:24 AM

Louisiana

Posted by Terersa – February 22, 2008 11:27 AM

I've never been to Hawaii and don't see how I'll ever get there but winning a home there sure would be wonderful for me.

Posted by Anna Troup – February 22, 2008 11:33 AM

Southern California- it hasn't hosted a HGTV home yet, the globe light is centered on the portion of the country, and the decor is all ocean, with shells and fish and stuff, so my guess is southern california

Posted by Kathleen – February 22, 2008 11:33 AM

Icon is on the Globe page!

Posted by Sharon – February 22, 2008 11:34 AM

its beautiful and scenic globe.arizona

Posted by fexilb – February 22, 2008 11:37 AM

I think the location is going to be Oakland, CA.

Posted by Donna Smith – February 22, 2008 11:39 AM

Im lost? Its a globe... lol

Posted by ashley – February 22, 2008 11:39 AM

Okay, I think it is in the North East. I would say either New York State or Pennsylvania.

Posted by Renee – February 22, 2008 11:46 AM

Arizona, has got to be the location

Posted by Sally – February 22, 2008 11:46 AM

I think it will be somewhere in Hawaii. The theme in most of the pictures is beachy, coral and shells, not unusual for Florida either. But the picture is of Hawaii's state fish, Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, or a trigger fish. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Posted by Ginger – February 22, 2008 11:47 AM

As long as its warm I don't care

Posted by carol anderson – February 22, 2008 11:47 AM

The globe says western North America. The pictures suggest Oregon or Northern California.

Posted by Cathy – February 22, 2008 11:52 AM

I say either California or Alaska. More likely California

Posted by Deri – February 22, 2008 11:54 AM

I think the next Dream Home will be built in the Colorado Rockies.

Posted by Jerry – February 22, 2008 11:55 AM

Lake Tahoe, Ca,

Posted by Jeane Muller – February 22, 2008 11:58 AM

I think it is Hawaii also

Posted by Judy – February 22, 2008 11:59 AM

North Shore of Lake Superior - Minnesota

Posted by Kathy – February 22, 2008 11:59 AM

My first guess instinct, was Hawaii, then I looked for something golden and saw Kingston, Jamaica. We're not sure if they go outside of the USA. If that is the case, they have never been to California either. So we'll wait for the next clue, but we believe it would be on the west coast and it appears they have picked somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.....

Posted by Marlene – February 22, 2008 12:00 PM

Nappa Valley, California

Posted by debbie m – February 22, 2008 12:06 PM

Definitely West... California, up the coast ? Maybe Carmel/Monterey ?

Posted by aud – February 22, 2008 12:08 PM

My guess is New Mexico....maybe Santa Fe.....

Posted by Bernadette Rutka – February 22, 2008 12:08 PM

I am thinking that the next "dream home" will be in Northern Arizona. With it's beautiful mountainous range, red rocks, and city life. Humm, can't imagine which city though. The building look older so it must be an older community. Hope I'm right!

Posted by Joan Wetzler – February 22, 2008 12:13 PM

I think it's in Mexico

Posted by Cindy – February 22, 2008 12:14 PM

Posted by Angie – February 22, 2008 12:40 PM

I think it will be on the West Coast near San Diego.

Posted by Angie – February 22, 2008 12:48 PM

I think the next dream home will be built in Mexico?

Posted by Gina – February 22, 2008 12:48 PM

Is it Globe, AZ.?

Posted by Timothy – February 22, 2008 12:51 PM

1. It's somewhere in north America
2. Rule out prior states
3. Globe appears to be poised at SW angle
4. Without further clues could be:
a. California (pretty expensive)
b. Nevada
c. New Mexico
d. Idaho

Posted by Judy – February 22, 2008 12:51 PM

Hawaii

Posted by suzanne – February 22, 2008 12:55 PM

Utah, where else? Something for everyone.

Posted by Kathleen – February 22, 2008 12:57 PM

Looks like the northeast part of the country - perhaps Maine?

Posted by Anne – February 22, 2008 1:00 PM

the globe

Posted by vanessa hammons – February 22, 2008 1:00 PM

I'll bet it is Alaska

Posted by cc – February 22, 2008 1:05 PM

I agree with Tyra... it's the globe... but what's with the clue?

Posted by Joyce – February 22, 2008 1:09 PM

WOW ?Alaska

Posted by cc – February 22, 2008 1:09 PM

Mexico?

Posted by Vicky – February 22, 2008 1:13 PM

I think I know.... The golden ticket is from the movie, Willy Wonker. There were 5 golden tickets placed in candy bars around the world(That's where the globe comes in) The winners won a tour of his chocolate factory, and he picked one to run his factory, his name was Charlie. I believe the clue points to HERSHEY PA. The whole town smells like chocolate, even the street lamps are shaped like kisses.

Posted by Jan – February 22, 2008 1:25 PM

alaska, new mexico, hawaii

Posted by Anonymous – February 22, 2008 1:25 PM

hawaii

Posted by edith clark – February 22, 2008 1:26 PM

I agree with Jenny its got to be one of the islands of Hawaii. The palms in the window look pacific, the Fish and Coral everywhere my bet is on Hawaii.

Posted by Tracey – February 22, 2008 1:27 PM

A globe......... past homes? I think it's going to be a central or Midwestern state this time, (although I prefer coastal and warm!) South Dakota has great fish and game recreation and Iowa has good farm land............... I'll keep checking the clues to see if I am on track.

Posted by BeckyChabot – February 22, 2008 1:28 PM

I think California might be a very good guess!

Posted by MELISSA – February 22, 2008 1:37 PM

Why not Mexico? That's what we're looking at on the globe... Dream home has "never gone [outside the U.S.] before"!

Posted by jeremyseattle – February 22, 2008 1:41 PM

A globe with a focus on the U.S., Canada and Mexico..That leaves a lot of territory to cover. Hmmmmm. (It's only the second clue, we can't give it all away just yet. FC)

Posted by Marjorie Elwood – February 22, 2008 1:45 PM

I'm guessing the location of the 2009 Dream Home is Globe, Arizona--located in the heart of Arizona's magnificent Tonto National Forest and surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain vistas in the Southwest. Am I right?

Posted by Ali – February 22, 2008 1:48 PM

The clue gets everyone focused on the Western Hemisphere and that is a start!

Posted by Dr. J – February 22, 2008 1:50 PM

It seems to be centered on Texas.

Posted by Panichella – February 22, 2008 1:53 PM

I searched for a global state and Washington comes up! Is it Washington State?

Posted by mom3rdx – February 22, 2008 1:56 PM

Could be an island??

Posted by eileen – February 22, 2008 1:57 PM

HAWAII...

Posted by Carolyn – February 22, 2008 1:58 PM

California..maybe Napa Valley

Posted by Sandra – February 22, 2008 1:59 PM

I think I know where the 2009 home will be built.
The golden ticket that fcole refers to is from the movie Willy Wonka & the chocolate factory.
Willy Wonker wanted someone young, worthy & honest to take over his factory. He placed 5 golden tickets in candy bars around the world (hence the picture of the world globe)the 5 winners would get to tour his factory, and one lucky person would win the factory. The next Dream Home will be in HERSHEY PENNSYVANIA.

Posted by Jan – February 22, 2008 2:01 PM

IT COULD BE ANYWHERE!!! Although, it looks like its focusing on the southwest pacific region. OR IS IT THE MIDWEST? CALIFORNIA? NEVADA? NEW MEXICO? ARIZONA? WASHINGTON? HAWAII? EVEN MEXICO?????

ITS TOO EARLY TO DECIDE!!!
KEEP THE CLUES COMIN! :]

Posted by Anonymous – February 22, 2008 2:01 PM

I think it's got to be a tropical island.

Posted by Mary Anna Abate – February 22, 2008 2:01 PM

You're right that's alot of territory! It's still too early in the game.

Posted by Julia – February 22, 2008 2:03 PM

Enterprise,AL is where the next dreamhome will be built.

Posted by david Kauss – February 22, 2008 2:07 PM

Posted by Glenn Scheuermann – February 22, 2008 2:09 PM

What a lovely prize that will be for someone, Thanks for adding that on.

Posted by Brenda Price – February 22, 2008 2:11 PM

The new photo in the picture gallery for a foyer was a globe (picture#6).

Posted by Joyce Garnica – February 22, 2008 2:14 PM

I'm guessing California. Golden ticket can refer to golden state or gold rush. Or, since the clue is a globe, could be referring to golden globes which is held in CA. CA has all of those type of terrains shown in the pictures of where the DH is going next for 2009. City picture could be LA. Other thoughts are foyer leads to wine closet. CA is known for wine. DH faces west and believe Jack mentioned next dream home is far from 2008. BAY words and game in kids room could be referring to SF Bay.

Posted by Sandy – February 22, 2008 2:15 PM

The Southwest is clearly in focus, perhaps Arizona? I wish it were Ohio or Michigan though, so beautiful!

Posted by Mike Wheeler – February 22, 2008 2:17 PM

I missed the first clue. The second clue has the blue cube by the east coast of the U.S.

Posted by Mary M – February 22, 2008 2:22 PM

I think it has to be Hawaii or somewhere on the West coast.

Posted by Ginny Rehnberg – February 22, 2008 2:25 PM

Home of the "Boston" Globe?
Massachusetts?

Posted by Lisa Q – February 22, 2008 2:26 PM

Could it be Moab,Utah?

Posted by Lynne – February 22, 2008 2:26 PM

Another quick thought. Gold rush was to the west - California mountains !!!!

Posted by Mary M. – February 22, 2008 2:26 PM

I'm going to guess Taos, NM area or Tucson/Glendale, AZ. Although I'm thinking more AZ because of it's retirement attraction and great job market. Golf courses galore and year round great weather.

Posted by Robert – February 22, 2008 2:29 PM

Louisiana

Posted by JIll – February 22, 2008 2:35 PM

Cape Cod would be a great spot!!!!!

Posted by Jeanette B – February 22, 2008 2:37 PM

At this point, I agree with Arizona, either Globe or nearby. There is a Gold Canyon Golf Resort‎, but I'll have to wait for more clues.....

Posted by Gail Parker – February 22, 2008 2:45 PM

I think it is Washington or Alaska....but that is just me. I would love if it was Hawaii though............that would be great.it does look like the state fish! Who knows?

Posted by April – February 22, 2008 2:46 PM

the next place will be in the soon to be finished "THE WORLD" over 300 islands formed to look like the earth. They are engineered to be flixible as well as unforettable. Located off the coast of Dudai's best address and created by a premium developer. It would truely be a one of a kind opportunitity.

Posted by kris Coffey – February 22, 2008 2:47 PM

I would have to say somewhere in the US in the north. Maine ?

Posted by lyndsey – February 22, 2008 2:47 PM

The clue is a globe. I think the next HGTV Dream Home is going to be somewhere in the US. hehe! Just a thought.

Posted by Megan Volz – February 22, 2008 2:49 PM

I,m sure I am off on a tangent, but some of the changes (though not additions ) to the foyer are the hat is on the chair and not on the beach bag and the tray of sea urchens has one missing and one out of the tray.So obviously the new location is in New Jersey ! Just kidding, don't have a clue !

Posted by david Kauss – February 22, 2008 2:53 PM

i was thinking hawaii as well...even before i read all the comments..lol
would be awesome!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous – February 22, 2008 2:53 PM

"Golden Ticket"... Golden STATE... California!

Posted by Leslie – February 22, 2008 2:56 PM

Golden Ticket??? Well, because of this reference, I believe California since it is the "Golden" state.

Posted by Michelle – February 22, 2008 2:56 PM

Well, We love the art work by Stacy Krupa in the Islamorada entryway. We are however, going to have to wait for the next clue, the globe just did not shed any light on the next location.

Posted by Beth – February 22, 2008 3:02 PM

San Francisco, California

Posted by Marion Kittredge – February 22, 2008 3:02 PM

It has to be Hawaii. I was thinking So Cal but we do not have the fish or the reefs. Hawaii for sure!!!

Posted by Rachel – February 22, 2008 3:04 PM

I picked up on the golden ticket mention but thought of Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory in San Francisco.

Posted by leslie – February 22, 2008 3:07 PM

OK, I get it. It's going to be "out of this world". In other words: fabulous!

Either that or New Mexico. :)

Posted by jsw – February 22, 2008 3:07 PM

I say the GOLDEN STATE aka California

Posted by Brittany – February 22, 2008 3:08 PM

Utah.... near salt lake

Posted by Ali B. – February 22, 2008 3:08 PM

I think it is NY or PA. Loved the 2008 house can't wait to see you top this....

Posted by maryjo – February 22, 2008 3:18 PM

the large acre in North Caroline

Posted by mary vaden – February 22, 2008 3:18 PM

I think its in the northeast of the us. Maybe the mountains. East Tennessee would be great

Posted by teresa – February 22, 2008 3:29 PM

Based on looking at all the photos and being to Hawaii 2 times, this home does not look like it is Hawaii. The photo of the fish was painted by a local artist in Islamorada FL. The coral, fish, towels rolled up, palm trees outsdie the window, sandles on the floor, the orchid flowers, gives it away that it is tropical. The color of the walls are unusual for Hawaii as well the furniture. The globe doesn't just show the United States, is shows a section of the whole world. My guess one of the Island in the Caribean Sea. Final Answer- Caymen Islands

Posted by Christi Ward – February 22, 2008 3:34 PM

hawaii, i'll take it

Posted by teresa – February 22, 2008 3:36 PM

My guess is Huntington Beach, California.

Posted by liz – February 22, 2008 3:38 PM

In beauitful Sweet Home Alabama:-)

Posted by jane – February 22, 2008 3:45 PM

I believe the next house will be built in Puerto Rico, that country is associated with the U.S.A.
You do not need a passport or visa if you are a US citizen to go there. It is tropical, palm trees, etc.

Posted by Pinky Berlin – February 22, 2008 3:49 PM

I would say New Mexico

Posted by Sarah – February 22, 2008 3:54 PM

I agree it's Hershy, PA

Man what I would do to win one of these. Someone's gotta win, right? I keep thinking maybe someday I'll be the lucky one. I have never won anything in my life. Some lucky person wins the lotterey though. So I just keep hoping.Congratulations to whomever wins this beautiful home. My husband and I have 5 kids they would be in heaven.

Posted by April – February 22, 2008 3:56 PM

I would hope it's Oahu, Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.

Posted by J'Andi – February 22, 2008 3:59 PM

I agree with the lady that said Santa Fe, New Mexico. I opened up Google Earth. Copied the globe to my photos and superimposed (the best I could) the globe over Google earth by switching between the photo and the Google Earth program) until I got an almost perfect match, enlarged the Google Earth map, and came up pretty damn close to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Posted by Bob – February 22, 2008 4:02 PM

I think that the new location is Sedona, AZ.

Posted by Carmen A – February 22, 2008 4:08 PM

Califorina

Posted by Tina – February 22, 2008 4:16 PM

San Francisco, CA
Golden ticket = Golden Gate Bridge

Posted by jennine easley – February 22, 2008 4:37 PM

It's San Francisco, CA, home of the Golden Gate Bridge, in the Golden State.

Legalize it!

Posted by Sir Psycho Sexy – February 22, 2008 4:40 PM

HGTV... sly... Globe, Washington (or somewhere near there)... NICE!!!!!!

Posted by Got it! – February 22, 2008 4:52 PM

The globe clue is probably. Somewhere in the USA. It shows all the states.

Posted by jwmason – February 22, 2008 4:56 PM

If you look at the exact center of that picture, it points to nex mexico. And of the three pictures shown on the dream home page "where will we go next?" the one in the middle is also New Mexico. I think that's a pretty sure bet, but we'll see later this year!

Posted by Gina – February 22, 2008 5:08 PM

How about Cabo San Lucas Mexico

Posted by Jon – February 22, 2008 5:11 PM

I just hope it's another warm wonderful climate. If we don't win this.... [which happens to be perfect for someone who can't go out in the snow!!!

Posted by Samantha – February 22, 2008 5:12 PM

The globe doesn't show Hawaii in the picture. Looks like maybe in the southwest? Could be California. Could be Arizona or Nevada too.

Posted by Vicki – February 22, 2008 5:16 PM

The Big Island of Hawaii...near Mauna Kea or Volcano National Park? Hawaii has skiing like Co.

Posted by Gina – February 22, 2008 5:18 PM

Wild guess. Maybe, Huntington Beach, CA.

Posted by Judy Z – February 22, 2008 5:21 PM

Those of you who guessed Arizona have got to be correct. Ever heard of GLOBE, ARIZONA to the
east of Phoenix??????
Tee Hee!

Posted by mrl – February 22, 2008 5:23 PM

I THINK IT IS NEW MEXICO, OR COLORADO. WITH THE RED MOUNTAINS, THE SNOW, THE BIG CITY. AM I RIGHT?

Posted by Anonymous – February 22, 2008 5:31 PM

Living in hurricane ravaged Mississippi, anywhere would be great, if I had to guess I would say New Mexico...dare we hope it would be in Hawaii?!

Posted by Teresa Gill – February 22, 2008 5:31 PM

I belive that the 2009 Dream home will be Globe, AZ. It is near a National Park. My favorite home is the blog cabin. That has always been my husband and my dream home. And I pray that one day we will own one. God bless and good luck everyone

Posted by Yvonne – February 22, 2008 5:32 PM

Somewhere in the Hawaiian Islands.

Posted by Cathy K. – February 22, 2008 5:42 PM

The globe is beautiful but we don't have a clue. For us this is a true dream. I will almost be sad when you announce since the hopes of the beautiful home for my family may be gone but until then I love to tour it by computer.

Posted by bridget – February 22, 2008 5:57 PM

I think it's in the Philipines.

Posted by Pam – February 22, 2008 6:04 PM

Posted by Emma – February 22, 2008 6:34 PM

JAN - Like your Hershey, PA idea - I have always wanted to go there..........I still hope it will be TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN though........... so beautiful there..........

Posted by Jennifer – February 22, 2008 6:39 PM

Globe Arizona? Thats a pretty good guess.Wherever it is i'm sure it will be just as beautiful as all the dream homes have been. (Like we should be so picky.)lol

Posted by Kerry F. – February 22, 2008 6:42 PM

The globe pictured is unusual. It shows ocean currents and underwater topography. I'm not sure what the land colors refer to but there are areas of yellow(gold). Since Alaska, Washington, California and Hawaii appear yellow and have ocean coasts, I'll guess there.

Posted by Bob Kubit – February 22, 2008 6:43 PM

I love Hawaii, especially Maui, as well. I would love to see a DH there.....

Posted by Jennifer – February 22, 2008 6:46 PM

I dunno, but there IS a Globe Arizona, I was there last month, spectacularly beautiful, but really really run down. There ARE red rocks and it IS sort of centered in that image of North America...

Posted by Helen – February 22, 2008 6:52 PM

I agree, Globe, Arizona. Why is everyone guessing Hawaii? The clue was a picture of a globe, not centered anywhere specifically. The clue is the actual globe.

Posted by Tina – February 22, 2008 6:58 PM

Well, I did the search for the answer to the first clue, so, I know where the Dream Home 2009, WON'T be built! That's some consolation! Then, after doing a search on the "golden ticket" (not going for the obvious Willy Wonka's 'golden ticket') I came across something. There is a motivational speaker by the name of Brendon Burchard who has written a book called "Life's Golden Ticket." His message, that we are all called to "live by choice and live to contribute" -- has changed thousands of lives around the globe. That last word caught my eye (GLOBE)! It further says that though he lives in San Francisco, CA, he still calls Montana, where he grew up, his home. So, I'm going to guess MONTANA! This may be a long shot, but, it's early in the guessing game too and I'm new at this, so, why not!

Posted by Verita – February 22, 2008 6:58 PM

My first guess was Las Vegas NV and my second was Sedona AZ, but now that we have a globe as the 2nd clue, we might be looking at Globe AZ. It's very close to lots of mountains and pine trees, snow, and plenty of non-native palm trees. That could be a photo of downtown Phoenix which is only 89 miles from Globe. The Golden Ticket part of the clue could be a reference to Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory which was located in Illinois?? But, I couldn't find one in the globe photo, can you? Maybe we're all taking the clues too literally. Oh well, it's a fun way to spend a few minutes.

The foyer in the picture is not from the 2009 DH it is from the 2008 DH. It is shown in the floor plan pictures of the 2008 home in Florida. Not enough clues for me yet!

The globe as several areas that look golden ... Arizona California Hawaii Idaho Montana Nevada New Mexico Washington ... but California is the Golden state.

Posted by Jenette – February 22, 2008 7:07 PM

the 2009 dream home will be in california perhaps hollywood. California has deserts and palm trees and also mountains. And they also have the golden ticket. Does this sound familiar? Dude you made it you're going to hollywood!

I think it is leading towards Hawaii, all of the different exotic oceanic detials noted in the hallway (yes it is the FL home but the Globe was placed in a SW position. I think I might have seen a Plumeria plant maybe not. I am not on too many tropical plants but it was similar.

I think the next dream home will be built in Alaska. It shows a fish, so I think it is a place where there are plenty of fish available. It also showed a shelve rack which could represent a totem pole. It showed the chandelier, which could signify the norhern lights. And, it showed a shell, which could be the symbol for an iceberg.

Hawaii? It's obviously Globe, Arizona. The clue is the 6th picture, not the 1st one. The picture is of a globe, not centered anywhere specifically.

i think it is hawaii

The 2009 Dream home will be located in Eddy county, New Mexico, at or near the old ghost town of Globe, New Mexico. Globe is approximately 12 miles nw of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Of course it could well be located in Carlsbad or the Carlsbad area. Regardless, it is said that one will enjoy the climate regardless of the season. Sounds like a perfect place for the new dream home.

I just came back from Maui, I think the dream home will be built on that island. The clues of the state fish, the star shaped light in the foyer could be the observatory on Haleakala, the old town of Lahaina, and all the references to coral. A house could be built in the 2.0 to 2.5 mil range in Hawaii

Since the icon is located near the North Eastern part of the U.S.; my guess and my hopes is that the next Dream Home will be located on the "Gold Coast" of Long Island, NY. It's one of the most wealthiest; beautiful and historical areas on Long Island. I've been a native Long Islander all my life and I would love to see that dream home in my own backyard.

Hummmmm! I think it is somewhere in Mexico. I just need another clue. lol

Posted by Sharon – February 22, 2008 9:30 PM

wow how do we guess where the home will be it could be in ohio a true state that has both cold and warm weather thats where it should be all the other ones have been in tropical or cold places it should be in a state thats not really reconized for the great features it has in it.

Posted by bridget – February 22, 2008 9:30 PM

I was thinking northeast because of the placement of the icon in the upper right corner of the photo- but if so, the teaser photo of the city (or palm trees earlier in the week), the desert, and the mountains can't be a hidden clue. Also, if you save the globe as a photo and blow it up, it's a low res shot- but it sort of looks like someone deliberately blurred everything west of texas. I think the blurring is centered over the northeast Nevada or northwest Utah region, but California, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, New Mexico, and Arizona are also blurrier than the rest of the states.

Posted by Cat – February 22, 2008 9:30 PM

Golden ticket = Gold Rush? Definitely west then- but where?... I know AK, WA, and CA have a gold rush history- but if the clue collages are clues, collage one had palm trees- so I am thinking southwest. I like the Globe, AZ idea... it would be very literal for a first clue, but does the park have a gold rush connection?

Posted by Cat – February 22, 2008 9:38 PM

It is deffinately Sedona Az.

Posted by Kathy – February 22, 2008 9:44 PM

I think those who mentioned Globe, AZ are on the right track. The clue is a picture of a globe --no particular state is highlighted. Arizona has not been a DH state, and I don't think they've done a desert location before.

Posted by R – February 22, 2008 9:48 PM

So, I think that it will be Hawaii. The fish and coral... I really think it will be there.

My first thought was Knoxville, TN since the icon is a house, I started thinking, that could be 'cause this is about the Dream Home, then I thought, it is part of the logo... so then I checked on the headquarters of HGTV... Knoxville, TN.

Posted by Ryan – February 22, 2008 9:48 PM

I think the clue is the actual globe itself, not any specific area on it, which means I bet it is Globe, AZ. I just looked up some info about the area, and it says it is surrounded by beautiful national forests and there are many recreational activities and such in the area. So, yeah, sounds like a typical DH area.

North America.

I believe the clue is it's in North America and somewhere they haven't been yet.

I have to agree with those that say Hawaii. The state fish in the painting (aka the trigger fish), the coral, the flip flops under the chair, the palm trees outside the window, the Pacific coast, and the white orchids (Hawaiian flower) all scream Hawaii. Oh how I wish I was there now...

I am going to further pin point my guess by saying Missoula, Montana. I have researced further and found more info on my source that indicates Missoula. It's a good thing we can keep guessing on this, it may be even wiser to sit back and let the clues come to us by reading what others have to say! Just a thought!

Posted by Verita Wallace – February 23, 2008 12:09 AM

California!? It is the golden state, but it could very well be Hawaii. Both locations have never been used and have a beach theme. Maybe Aptos, CA, near Monteray? Very beautiful there.

Boston has the newspaper named the Globe

Posted by Melinda Reigle – February 23, 2008 1:50 AM

OK... several have said the same things that came to my mind.

The angle of the photo of the globe is focused on the South West of the U.S. (Dream Homes will be in the U.S. - it's all about the sponsors of the products used in building the DH)

Find the Golden Ticket - could either refer to the Golden State of California or on the globe, Arizona is a golden color, but you could say the same of California depending on light or dark gold. The other thought on "golden ticket" - first used in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, but currently being used by American Idol with contestants winning golden tickets to Hollywood. Another reference to California. Either CA or AZ would be great locations.

The original clue icon - refers to none of the past DH locations - 10 states out. But the icon is on the photo of the CO house with the tall pine trees so the new location could have tall trees like the redwood trees, but that's probably stretching the clue a bit. (the other photos on the Dream Home Central page have nothing to do with any of the clues thus far, so nothing to do with the new location... just pretty places in "America the Beautiful")

OK, thanks fcole... I'm ready for the next clue.

Posted by Carole – February 23, 2008 1:53 AM

ok..if someone has the right number...and the number has got to be less than 30. Any number less than 30 will give you a clue.

Good work. Great web pages and prizes. My wild guess for the day is Rhode Island. Only because the Homes past picture the clue was on was the 11th one and the Globe could mean the USA and if it's the 11th State it would be Rhode Island. Just a guess. Maybe one day I'll be a winner of something good lol. Take care and have fun above all.

Kauai, Hawaii
Because: No Dream Home in Hawaii, Tropical & Ocean theme foyer, Hawaiian Fish, Palms & Ocean from windows, Pic with sea urchens, 6 urchens for the 6 islands of Hawaii with one sea urchen off to the left. Look at a map of Hawaii, the fartherest island to the left is Kauai, hense the island they have chosen since that urchen is out of the dish. I guess we will know soon enough!

I can't agree with all the inland guesses. Would you decorate with so many images from the sea if you were in Arizona? It's got to be coastal.

Posted by Francine – February 23, 2008 9:15 AM

I would think it is time to try the west coast - however the largest free standing globe is at Babson College - in Massachusetts, where no Dream Home has been built

My only real desire is to see a Dream Home built outside of a gated community/condo/association setting

Loved the Georgia house with the wetlands

Posted by steve – February 23, 2008 9:34 AM

If you go by where the light is on the globe, there is really nothing there. I think that is just a reflection from a window. Hawaii is much lower in the Pacific from the lighted spot. Other options is somewhere along the West coast which could be California, Oregon or Washington state. If you take where the globe is centered, then it would be somewhere along the West coast of Mexico. Is there anything that says it has to be in the US? If I was to take a guess, I would say it will be on the N. California coast or Oregon Coast. Both of which would be so cool since all of the ocean front ones have been on the beach. Why not a rocky coast!?!

Posted by Carrie – February 23, 2008 9:40 AM

Okay, I think with only 2 clues, they wouldn't give anything too obvious like the name of the town. (Globe). The globe obviously portrays the North American side, so not really a clue. What I thought was odd, was the PLACEMENT of the clue in the #6 position. Why not tack it on the end? So, I did a search for 2 things. Sixth largest state in square miles (Arizona) and sixth state to join the Union (Massachusetts). So for right now, I'm going to keep those in my little notebook and wait for the next clue!!!

Posted by Mary – February 23, 2008 9:40 AM

I Think it is Maybe Alabama.. Mobil or Orange Beach..

Posted by virginia francis – February 23, 2008 9:53 AM

Seattle?

Posted by Millie – February 23, 2008 10:08 AM

Happy 2008!
Based on the clues thus far, we know the state is not CO, NC, TX, GA, Fl, MD, ME, OR, SC, nor WY.

2. Second Clue: a picture of a Globe. Fcole says to see if you can find the golden ticket. Golden ticket could refer to many things. Should we find the golden ticket in the photo of the globe or in the slide show? Me, I only found a golden box in the slide show. No secret message. Should we look for Golden ticket amusement areas in the US? Hmm... I found MS, PA, UT and IA. Maybe TN. Should we just assume it is a golden ticket to Hollywood? Hmm...
Next clue please.

Posted by Devin – February 23, 2008 10:09 AM

My guess is Globe, Arizona. The views are amazing!!

Posted by Laurel – February 23, 2008 10:19 AM

There are only 2 clues: 1)In a state that has not had a dream home previously; 2)a globe. All the other stuff people have mentioned (golden ticket, good climate, other pictures) are not clues; they are irrelevant. So far the best guesses are that the place is named "Globe" or a place famous for a globe, such as Boston.

Posted by John – February 23, 2008 10:21 AM

Hawaii! But the Globe , Arizona is a good point!

Posted by Alicia VanderMartin – February 23, 2008 10:22 AM

I think some where around the islands in the Bahamas. This would make a great location for a HGtv home. Well , good luck and many blessings to the winner.

Posted by Janet J – February 23, 2008 10:25 AM

Texas!

The HGTV folks are practical as well as imaginative.

But I would have to say I wonder at Hawaii, which so many others have mentioned, because that was my first guess "in the blind." Pretty expensive to build in Hawaii, though, I would think . . .

Posted by Marylz – February 23, 2008 10:28 AM

That state is the complete opposite of Florida!

Posted by Joan Griffiths – February 23, 2008 11:15 AM

Why do people think it's the Hawaiian Islands? The clue is a globe, which means Globe, Arizona. Sorry to let you down guys, it isn't Hawaii.

Posted by Sandra – February 23, 2008 11:30 AM

somewhere in the caribean

Posted by Ozzie – February 23, 2008 11:37 AM

california!!

Posted by ursula foster – February 23, 2008 11:43 AM

It's somewhere obviously tropical. All the tropical decorations plus the outside has palm trees.

Posted by Donna K – February 23, 2008 11:48 AM

The globe is unusual. It shows ocean currents and ocean underwater topography instead of standard political subdivisions. There are yellow(gold) areas(indicating I don't know what) in Alaska, Hawaii and the western US. Putting that together plus the first clue, I'd say there will be an ocean view in the new house somewhere in Hawaii, Alaska, Washington or California.

Posted by Bob – February 23, 2008 11:50 AM
