Unless I am mistaken, or my brand new computer is broken, the construction video of the 2008 dream home has been murdered by a design star video. FIX IT!!

Posted by Joe – October 23, 2007 8:18 PM

OK Design Star was great but where is the Dream Home video?

Posted by DD – October 23, 2007 11:03 PM

I too am a little confused. I didn't realize that "Design Star" was working on "Dream Home". Personally...........I don't find that too good of an idea. Too diverse of a design team. 8-)

Posted by Alison – October 24, 2007 12:08 AM

This has nothing to do with the dream home... =[

Posted by Ashley – October 24, 2007 5:55 AM

I do believe you have the wrong video down loaded in your system.
Plus I think the 2006 home is the best so far. Love to vacation on the beach not live on the beach.

Posted by Mark – October 24, 2007 6:45 AM

I think I have gone off into another universe or someone has switched videos on you. Wait maybe this is April 1st. LOL

Posted by sandi, iowa – October 24, 2007 8:49 AM

Oops! I loved watching design star, but I would really love to see the much anticipated new HGTV DH08 video. Although, this is a clip I had not seen before and I did watch the whole thing, very entertaining. Now that we have had a laugh about it, can you change this clip with the DH08 clip? Too funny. :)

Posted by Lelia – October 24, 2007 8:49 AM

I Don't really like the exterior color combination and the floor plan seems sort of weird. I don't like the location of this house either. Not my cup of tea.

Posted by Raychel – October 24, 2007 9:40 AM

The video was fixed and Jack gave a good intro. I hope to see the decor soon.

Posted by Jenette – October 24, 2007 10:26 AM

I agree with Raychel, I don,t think I'll enter this one. The Green Hopme sounds better

Posted by clifton t wilder – October 24, 2007 1:29 PM

Well, I watched the video of the dream house, It looks like it's gonna be a treat! I love the subway tiles in that huge looking shower. But hey I missed out on the fun of the video switching. Hey was that a Halloween trick fcole?

Posted by Carrie Miracle – October 24, 2007 2:21 PM

I just have to say I really love the shower tile and the landscaping was looking nice. I really loved the green apple wall in the one room they showed. But I really really do not like the tennis ball green shutters on the house. In my opinion they honestly, do not look good with the beautiful blue chosen for the exterior of the house. I think white or black shutters on the house and blue shutters to match the house on the stair tower would be so much nicer. I think overall everyone has done a great job on the house. It looks well built and the interior is coming together nicely.

Posted by Carrie Miracle – October 24, 2007 2:32 PM

We wouldn't be able to live in this, but I'd definitely spend a few weeks with my girlfriends partying, drinking margharittas and enjoying that gorgeous view before I sold it for something that would fit our family. Hubby can stay home with our 4 children(muahahahahah...evil laughter) ;-)
Can't wait to see the home fully furnished, I know it's going to be gorgeous!

Posted by Michelle, Georgia – October 24, 2007 2:44 PM

I'm with Raychel, the exterior color combination would not be my choice for a 'dream home'. Location is great, would love to live there.

Posted by Alice B. – October 24, 2007 3:00 PM

Love the video.
Love to see the workmanship and details of each year's dram home...

Posted by nutter butter – October 24, 2007 3:13 PM

I'm not excited about the color choice for the outside either, but I'd give my right arm to live in this house on the beach!! I'll stand on my head trying to win it and I hope everybody else thinks it's a bad idea to build it on the beach and maybe my chances will be better!!

Posted by Andrea – October 24, 2007 3:27 PM

Ok, cool, saw the video of the DH08 this time. I am loving the interior details that you showed. I was not expecting the yellow shutters though, wow ;). But, that has not put a damper on my opinion of this home. It is still beautiful and I know it will be a dream home to love and enjoy and be proud of. Thank you for that wonderful taste of what's to come.

Posted by Lelia – October 24, 2007 3:36 PM

Already live here just need the house I love it and will enter

Posted by Jennie – October 24, 2007 4:31 PM

From what I have seen so farI am loving it!!! I would just love to retire on the beach, that has been my Dream! I can't wait to see the finished product and the design that will go into it on the inside. I know it will be "Fabulous." Keep up the good work!!!

Posted by Katherine Sherman – October 24, 2007 4:49 PM

Lovely home, glorious settimg but have to agree the tennis ball yellow is off putting. If it must be yellow, how about a pale jonquil by Sherwin Williams.

Also , would you consider putting in an elevator for those of us who are losing the spring in our step

Posted by Mary Bray – October 24, 2007 5:28 PM

I just watched the video for the 2008 Dream Home and I love it! Can't wait to see the house once it's finished.

Posted by Darbi – October 24, 2007 5:47 PM

Awesome! Can't believe it! I hope all ya'll (yes I said that) don't enter this one b/c I'm looking forward to kicking back and feeling the breeze in margharitaville! Hahahahah! Truly a "Dream Home"!

Posted by Kelly – October 24, 2007 5:49 PM

I was going nuts trying to figure out what the design star video had to do with the Dream Home. Thanks for fixing it so fast. It was so exciting to see how much has been accomplished and I loved everything with the exception of the color of the shutters. The shutters made me shudder. If only they could be toned down to a more neutal shade. Adored seeing the landscaping. So I'm still among the many who would love to win and live in this dream home on the beach. Good luck to all you dreamers and thanks especially to CARRIE M for setting me straight about the pool. Smart lady.
Can't wait for the next update video.

How do I enter to win the Dream Home?

Posted by Sally Seeberger – October 24, 2007 6:03 PM

THIS TRULY IS MY DREAM HOME.............

Posted by Suzanne Bone – October 24, 2007 6:10 PM

WoW, I'm loving it!!!

Love everything but the only thing I'm not sure is the exterior color combination... But with that location, I'll forgive everything!!!, maybe once we can see the landscaping and the whole project together, it'll make more sense.

Can't wait to see the whole thing!!

Posted by Marivi, Michigan – October 24, 2007 6:26 PM

Happy Days. This is it. This is my new home. Thank you. I have been wanting to move back to Florida. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you in advance??!!!!!!!! I plan on winning this wonderful new home.

I just love the structure of the new 2008 dream home. I would love to live in this home on the beach in Islamorada. I think it would be an honor and privilege to be the winner of an HGTV Dream Home !

Posted by susanne – October 24, 2007 6:50 PM

As all the Dream homes it seems spectaclar. In agreement with others regarding shutters. But you all are the designers. I believe the Dream home in Ashland NC was my dream house but will of course be interested in this one as well. Looking forward to what is yet to come. May the work continue well.

Posted by Erma Newman – October 24, 2007 8:36 PM

Islamorada is heaven on earth and I would be most grateful to live in this beautiful home.

Posted by patty – October 24, 2007 9:26 PM

I LOVE the home! I think it is beautiful & I love the location. But I have the same concern in this Dream Home as I have had in many of the other Dream Homes - the "kid's bedroom" is on the ground floor while the master is on the 3rd. If I were to win, I couldn't live there with my family knowing that my children were sleeping alone on street level while I was so far away. I have noticed in previous years, the master bedrooms were also far away from the other bedrooms. This may be a design trend, but I don't think its practical & I don't know anyone who would feel safe with that arrangement if they have small children. I hope that the Dream-Home Team takes this into consideration with future homes - not that I'd ever turn one of these beautiful homes down!! I would just have to reconstruct & modify the layout.

Posted by Sheila Ann – October 24, 2007 9:45 PM

I want to know how this "dream home" will be up-to-date on hurricane strength weather. I don't understand why everyone in Florida builds a stick house. Down in Mexico (Cozumel) homes, hotels, etc are built with concrete and rebar and they withstand the hurricanes much better and don't have to rebuild every time as they do in the rest of the hurricane belt. Put it this way, their damage is minimal compared to the ones on our soil. I'm just puzzled as to the kind of construction. Don't get me wrong just puzzled. Here in the northwest we build to suit the climate too.

Posted by Kathy – October 24, 2007 10:16 PM

WOW is really beautifull. I hope Ill be the winner of this house lol. I love it all you people are wonderfull. that really will be my dream home my little boy will love it .

Posted by Carlos BX,NY – October 24, 2007 10:28 PM

Watched the dream home video, loooove this dream house, wish I could win it. Will stay tuned and watch the progress. Thanks

Posted by Elsie – October 24, 2007 10:34 PM

Beautiful home, awesome location!

Posted by Demetra – October 25, 2007 12:28 AM

after reading the bedroom feng shui article I can see that this home would never work - the bed in the master bedroom will have the foot facing the double doors to the porch - really bad feng shui!!

Posted by Gayle – October 25, 2007 2:03 AM

I didn't particularly care for the paint color
choses on the exterior either. However, I do feel
the home is coming along nicely.

Posted by kristin rhone – October 25, 2007 2:31 AM

THIS IS A TERRIBLE VIDEO. WHO NEEDS TO SEE A WORKER'S BRACELET OR A SHOWER HEAD??? HELLO?
LET US SEE EXTERIOR SHOTS OF THE VIEW OF THE OCEAN, BEACH, YARD ETC. AND A FLOOR PLAN, FOR HEAVEN SAKE (THE ONE ON THE VIDEO IS IN THE BACKGROUND AND NOT VISIBLE)...

Posted by Jo PaTE – October 25, 2007 6:57 AM

islamorada ROCKS

i love the place !

Posted by mike – October 25, 2007 8:01 AM

Beautiful location and design but I definitely do not like the color scheme and I expected more than 3 bedrooms for a beach house. If it were my design, I would have added a balcony around the inside of the tower windows and have it be a reading/lounging area. I would have also had a freestanding U-shaped counter area in the kitchen, with the sink, dw, compactor, etc., overlooking the greatroom with access on each side into the kitchen with wall cabinets limited to the inside walls of the kitchen.

Posted by bettyoops – October 25, 2007 8:29 AM

I think the location is perfect and this is the best home yet. Would be perfect for me and my family!! I love the beach!

Posted by Barbara – October 25, 2007 8:44 AM

looks like another WINNER! This home is going to be absoultely beautiful. Love it already....I would take it right now!

Posted by Anita – October 25, 2007 8:55 AM

The Dream Home On Islamorada is simply gorgeous. Watching the video of the extremely competent crew at work is like watching a fine Swiss watch: each crew is a like a gear that interacts with the next to create the beautiful house. And because of that, I am about to show all those other contestants what a competition is really like. Buckle your seat belts and get ready for wild ride!

Posted by Mary Ann – October 25, 2007 9:02 AM

Wow! What a location! Islamorada has the best scuba diving and I can't wait to invite everyone down. Let me at it!

Posted by Harriet – October 25, 2007 9:51 AM

Did they pick a winner yet?
Where do I try to win?
thanks.

Well, it may have been a Design Star video but it's not anymore! Ah, the Dream Home! It's beautiful! Thanks so much for the update - it's great to see it comely along so nicely!!! Can't wait to see when its finished!

Posted by Marti – October 25, 2007 10:31 AM

I love it!!!!! What a view, The house fits perfect in the Keys the colors are bright, I just love how the house is coming along, I can't wait to see when they start decorating it. And we only have two months before we can start to enter the sweeptstake. Yeahhhhh!!!!

Posted by Berta A – October 25, 2007 12:17 PM

I love the location, but I'm a more than a bit surprised by the children's bedroom and the entertainment room being allowed on the ground floor in Monroe County's hurricane/floodwater codes. How did you manage to get approvals on that? I'm sure the windows are to Code, but given the fact that the keys are extremely vulnerable, and, since you were designing it with shutters anyhow, wouldn't it have made sense to make the colonial shutters working hurricane shutters & added working Bahama shutters to the other windows? The exterior color scheme that was so off-putting to some of the bloggers, will look right at home in the keys. And, over time with the strong UV rays, will fade into sheer beauty. As one who has spent many, many years in the Keys, did anyone ever mention the mosquitos and no-see-ums to your architect? You would be miserable without fine screening closing in those exterior sitting areas! Someone mentioned an elevator. I AGREE! Or, at the very least, a dumbwaiter from the garage to the kitchen for unloading groceries! This was a HUGE oversight on the plan. Someone also mentioned a few improvements to the kitchen...I agree! But perhaps we are people who love to cook and I know that cooking has become more of a spectator sport than an actual part of family living these days.

Posted by Katie1 – October 25, 2007 12:19 PM

been to the keys numerous times. what a great thought to know that i might win this beautiful home and live there year round. laid back all the time doesn't sound bad especially laying back in such a awesome area.

MINE!!!!!

Posted by Dawn Anderson – October 25, 2007 5:17 PM

I love the color scheme, the architect, the landscaping and the LOCATION it all breaths Islamorada. It's MY kind of home.

Posted by Linda Brodersen – October 25, 2007 6:36 PM

there's a spanish saying; "a caballo regalado no se le mira el diente"; loosely translated "don't be checking the mouth on a gifted horse". remember people you get it for free. i wish i could be the winner. my kids and my grandchildren would have a blast in a house like that, " tennis ball yellow shades and all".

Posted by txomin m. ibarluzea – October 25, 2007 6:56 PM

First dream home I have seen that would make sense to live in permanently instead of selling off to pay the property taxes.

Posted by Anonymous – October 25, 2007 7:41 PM

The outside paint color is just plain UGLY. At least paint the shutters white. This is the first negative comment I have had on all of the other homes. Very disappointed in that.

Posted by sandra – October 25, 2007 7:56 PM

I love the colors on the exterior. I agree with Katie about the sun fading it beautifully! I love that this home is very different than the other dream homes as well. Not every dream home will be perfect for everyone.

Posted by Paula – October 25, 2007 9:46 PM

you people need to stop complainig so much, this house is absolutely gorgeous, if you dont like it dont enter.

Posted by Anonymous – October 25, 2007 10:01 PM

I think it's beautiful - and hopefully it will sustain the elements. The shutter colors are definately different. Living in the Pacific NW, I wouldn't mind this home with some sunshine! With changes in weather patterns, hopefully the foundation built upon sand won't give way - too bad it's not built upon a rock.

Posted by wendy – October 25, 2007 10:19 PM

I, too, am very surprised by the design decisions. It's as if no one considered the normal hurricanes and squalls and insects when designing this house Or the wicking properties of plaster. The first floor should only be used for things that can survive flooding caused by blowing water (which can be a frequent occurance). We continuously fight mold and mildew when the wrong building materials are used. Working, easy to use hurricane shutters are a necessity here. And frame construction? I would not feel safe living in this home. I've been through too many hurricanes. I remember having to drive around a house sitting in the middle of the highway in Islamorada after a hurricane. I sure wish the designers had spent some serious time talking with people who have lived long term in the Keys. The quality and durability of construction here is more important than what goes in the house.
And Katie1 is absolutely right about needing a dumbwaiter. I'm sure the home will look beautiful when it's finished, but I can see that anyone living there will daily face problems that could have been avoided.

This Dream home is the best one so far! I have always wanted to live in Florida. It is absolutely beautiful.I know several people weren't excited about the color yet the exterior colors fit the area well, they are very caribbean. I would love to wake up every morning to the breathtaking view of the ocean., I think this is my family's dream home. I am excited to keep track of all of the updates and enter to win this one. Great job HGTV, designers, and builders.

WHAT A FANTASTIC VIEW AND LOCATION FOR THE NEXT DREAM HOME IN THE KEYS. OUR FAMILY OF 7 GROWN CHILDREN AND THREE GRANDCHILDREN WOULD LOVE TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH EACH OTHER IN THIS HOME.
WE LOVE THE WATER, SNORKELING, DIVING, BOATING AND ENTERTAINING. I REALLY WANT TO WIN THIS HOME FOR OUR FAMILY. THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND BEING SO GENEROUS IN THE PROCESS. CAN'T WAIT TO ENTER. IT'S GOING TO BE BEAUTIFUL. SHARON

Posted by SHARON BURGESS – October 26, 2007 9:39 PM

I'd like to know why they ask your age when registering for the contest? If you are a Senior, why can't we possibly win..why must we have small children in order to win the homes? I keep entering only to see that people with children win...

I'd love to have the chance to win a new home. I've been living with my adult children and think it would be wonderful if we could fin a place that my hubby and I could share when family come to visit...

Sincerely
Mara

Great job! Having "built" 3 homes, I can appreciate every detail of construction. Would love this home as a vacation home to share with family and friends!

Once again you have energized my whole being. This is phanominal. I always said I would Never move to Florida. Well you have changed my mind. You guys and gals are truley the very best, and you make it look so easy. I absolutley love this, and I am a water baby, so how perfect would life be in this home? No doubt the very Best. Thanks for the step by step and will be there on Jan. 1st and every day after to give my self a chance to win. Thanks a million.

Please remember when designing a home, to include an elevator and wider doors for those that are disabled/young or old. They love multi level homes, also. Donna H

What a fabulous site. The view is beyond words. What are people complaining abou? They don't like the color? Look out the windows and see the colors there. Magnificent!! If they don't want to enter, I will. I would be sooooooo happy looing out my window and seeing God's glory. Thank you HGTV!

Posted by Concetta – October 27, 2007 1:16 PM

I agree with all positive comments. Love the house and location and will enter every day.

Posted by Linda – October 27, 2007 3:19 PM

I like this house. It is gorgous, but I think I would rather have the green house just because the 08 dream house doesn't have bedrooms all on the same floor. --I have 2 pre-teens and I can't have them have their own floors with bedrooms and access to outside! Beautiful house though :) and I think it's wondeful that HGTV does this every year!

Posted by Amanda – October 27, 2007 4:26 PM

I am sure who ever wins this home will love it. Good luck to all.........

Posted by Linda – October 27, 2007 8:01 PM

The exterior color is wretched! Looks like an easter egg. Let's hope the interior is a little bit classier looking. Oh well, that can always be painted. The bones of the home look amazing though. Can't wait to see it finished!!

Posted by Danielle – October 28, 2007 2:27 AM

Wastin away again in Margaritaville..........oh yeah! And the exterior color is actually growing on me the more I look at it & consider that the home is in the Keys.....absolutely perfect!! I'm seeing my husband, my boys & myself....all with our instruments.....around a night time beach campfire....singing & grinning from ear to ear that we won this home. oh yeah!!!! Cannot wait!!!! Whoooo hoooooo!!!!!!

Posted by Danielle – October 28, 2007 2:39 AM

One word WONDERFULA!
One post I read was about the handycaped issue-I say,"don't sweet it! HGTV updated or offered to update the winners house to fit a couple years ago! ENTER! You would probly have to sell it anyway cause of the taxes. Then you can build anywhere--- I do wonder about screens also-your going to get gulls flying in to say hello-then again I have always wanted a pet gull. HGTV did a great job -- again. When can I move in?

Posted by Winner! – October 28, 2007 11:47 AM

Looks like another WHITE ELEPHANT. I really don't dream of bankrupcy. That's what would happen if I owned the house when the first tax bill hits. I don't even want to think about the insurance and utility bills. If I win, I will bring a real estate agent and a FOR SALE sign when I claim the house.

Posted by RickD. – October 28, 2007 12:46 PM

I Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvve It. Its perfect. Every year you continue to surprise me. Just when I think you can't do better than this, you do it again. You guys are incredible. I love you guys. You make Hgtv.com a pleasure to lodge on. I have told many friends about your work and they get great ideas for their homes (at a cheaper cost). Each one of you have a special gift, put together, you created some beautiful work. Keep up the great work.

I love the home. It's absolutly gorgous, but I have to agree with Shela Ann and Katie1 in that I wish the kids' bedrooms were on the same level as the master. I think it's a wonderful idea for people who don't have kids' or who have older kids that are out of college or something--that would give guests privacy and a view, but for kids--they do not need doors to be able to escape from or vise versa--doors in their room where unwanted people can come in. Beautiful house though. I would take it in a heart beat. :)

Posted by Amanda – October 28, 2007 6:22 PM

I agree with some that the 2006 was the best designed home. Very cozy. This home of '08 seems to beachy leaving it congested with the vacation feel and not the "home" feel. I for one will not enter just knowing how much the taxes and flood insurance, if you can get it, will be. It is also out in the open leaving it to the bad elements and nosey onlookers from around the world. Can you imagine that? No, like I said, I will just sit this one out.

I appreciate the hard work and the flexibility of everyone concern in overcoming the different situations you have encountered. This home IS PERFECT for the Keys! I lived in Florida for 30 years and want DESPERATEDLY to move back where my family is! I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is MY DREAM HOME! I just want to point out that the floor plans in the video are different then the ones that were provided earlier. We may all be in for a happy little suprise when this home complete. At the bottom of each level's floor plans there is a statement that says these plans are subject to change and I believe it has changed. It will be perfect in every way no doubt. :) I have complete faith in the abilities of the HGTV designers and the archetects and the builders. I am sure they would not build a home (and have stated several times about the weather issues and building codes there)that is not safe for the area. I can't wait to see the finished product and I am soo excited.

Posted by JoAnne – October 30, 2007 2:20 PM

The location is perfect, the design is perfect, the COLORS inside and out are perfect. Those that don't care for any part of it don't need to enter because I think they built this one for my family and ME!!!!

Posted by Donna – October 30, 2007 8:38 PM

The area and the home are absolute winners this year!!! Location/location/location!!! And style!!!I can't wait to take a 360 deg. tour of the finished home!!! My favorite until now was the Georgia coastal home with the widows walk. Now I have absolutely found my "dream" home! Thanks, HGTV!!!

Posted by Kathleen – October 31, 2007 3:35 PM

The House is PERFECT! Yes he color is a bit bold, but for the Location its a winner! My husband is a master carpenter, I have seen all his work and I must say you all have gathered quite a terrific team of workers. The landscaping is wonderful as well. God Bless to whoever wins this property. I have me name written on another winning. HGTV will be in touch with me soon! Chow for now!

I have gotten to view a great overview video of the construction of the dream home. The house was
really constructed to last thru all kinds of weather. WOW! It looks fabulous. Can't wait to see it decorated.

Im packing my bags and leaving all the winter stuff behind. I am dying to move back to Florida. Im back in NY and it gets toooo cold here. I know the Lord wants me to retire in Florida and I always dreamed of a house on the beach. Cant wait to see the finished view and the decor. This ones custom made for me. Thank you HGTV for letting us all dream.

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR THE DREAM HOME PLANNER JACK. I THINK ALL THESE HOMES ARE JUST THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HOME'S I'VE SEEN AND I ENTER EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 4 YRS. BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT REALLY PUZZLES ME. IM RAIZING MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND IM OVER 50. WHY ARE THESE HOME'S MADE NOT WITH THE SAFTY OF THE KIDS IN MIND WITH THERE ROOM BEING ON A DIFFERENT FLOOR THAN THE MASTER, IF THESE ARE DESIGNED FOR FAMILYS.

Posted by Becky – November 1, 2007 4:03 PM

I think it is in a great location. I would love to win it.

Posted by Shannon – November 1, 2007 4:49 PM

Love the ocean view, but is there going to be a pool included or do we share a pool with the neighbors ? Interesting lay out of the neighbors houses.

Posted by Shar – November 1, 2007 6:20 PM

I love it! I love being near the ocean, and I can't wait to see how this is finished out! I love bright colours, and I would certainly try to find a way to stay in this house!

The location is unbeleivable,I've seen alot of complants about the colors of the outside, but thats the colors for the setting of the location. The house is wonderful, loving the tiles and flooring with the lay out of the house. Can't wait to win and make it a home.

I will try again-trick or treat maybe??

LOL;

Posted by Vvalee – November 2, 2007 10:17 PM

It is a nice home, but I do not feel it is in keeping with HGTV's previous dream homes. 2005 Tyler Texas was and still is my favorite dream home.
This home is small and chopped up.. no screened in out-door living areas. And NO swimming pool in Flordia, what's with that? And I have to agree with the others who have commented on the weather in Florida, the high property taxes and insurance rates put this home out of an ordinary persons reach to win this home.. there is no point in winning it if you can't afford the taxes and insurance to live in it.

Posted by Elaine – November 3, 2007 8:42 AM

Just amazing!

Posted by t. – November 3, 2007 8:58 AM

How did HGTV guess that this would be my ideal dream home??? Yes absolutely ready for retirement, kicking back and just looking on the ocean, I have always dream of that house on the beach! Fabulous, Hey you all, just a note, This is mine!
The house is super, though I am not totally enthuse about the exterior color choices, I love the apple green room, its vibrant, trendy and cool!
Designer team, please do a great job on my house.. thank you

Posted by Andrea – November 3, 2007 2:51 PM

Beautiful location, I love you guys, I watch you everyday, I'm a little surprised by your color choice. I CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE MY WALK ON THE BEACH AFTER I WIN THIS ONE. TINA

Posted by Tina DeClue – November 3, 2007 10:55 PM

The location and style are PERFECT. I just wish that the dream home would create a plan for those that have kids - two stories away AND on the ground floor??? I'd have nightmares every night.

It's so beautiful. I love the color blue that is on the outside, reminds me of my grandmothers house. We called it snickerdoodle blue. Can't wait to see the inside when it is finished.

I watch the HGTV programs every day....love them, love them, love them!!!! The Dream Home 2008 and location is just the best....I would love and be honored to win this HGTV home so that I could have a summer spot for my children and grandchildren. I cannot afford vacations and what a bonus it would be to win!!! I love the color of the home....blue and yellow...reminds me of a Cape Cod home.

Hey fcole and jack
I absolutely adore the 08'DH. I like the color combinations, they are perfect for beach housing,so wild, fresh and exciting.Linda has got to include happy Red's somewhere in this lovely sprite home.I have definately missed the boat as I should have been a coastal girl through the years,it just didn't happen.I can't wait to see this on all completed. If anyone can design it Linda can !! She's a miracle gal. I wish I could turn her loose with my home for only one day. That's an idea as a 2nd or 3rd prize winner. I absolutely fell in love with the Lake Lure DH. I really despirately wanted to win it. I'm not giving up yet, I can't wait to enter for this beauty. Just wish it had an elevator !! And I hope all this also includes a good size boat/trailer and maybe a golf cart for sure. dee

What a gorgeous house. How could anyone complain about a chance to live in paradise? I have no kids yet so I would love to have my bedroom on a seperate floor-could use the exercise so fine with the stairs, and can always buy a large stock of deet bug spray, and the green shutters?- would help me indetify my home in the dark! i would love to make this my first house, that would be pretty impressive at my class reunion! good luck everyone at winning the green house, betters my chances for this one! :)

Posted by gd – November 7, 2007 6:26 PM

Okay... I don't see any comments on the size of the garage. You would think there would be a 3 or 4 car garage for this size house. Also I agree with many people on having the kids room so remote from the parents bedroom. Apparently they are not thinking about teenagers (sneaking out) or young kids when they designed this house. Flordia Keys sounds like a pretty scary place to build a home. I hope someone has plenty of money saved for taxes if they win. Otherwise it will me on the market soon after wining. I loved the mountain home, but this one isn't my cup of tea!

Dream Home in Key West....WOW...I've never been able to afford a vacation to the Keys...even though I'd love to go there some day. I've heard nothing but good things (other than expensive) about life in the Keys...

I live full time in an RV. Six years ago we sold it all and hit the road with plans to settle down somewhere when we found a place we liked. However, that was before the big housing increase...Now, who can afford to buy a house?

There would be a very LUCKY winner to get this home!!!

Posted by Linda – November 8, 2007 8:18 AM

That is my house, I can hardly wait to start packing for the move. That house is a dream, I am pretty sure that the planners took special care with the weather and the location.
Keep up the great work you are doing!!! I love the area.

WOW...You know, I can just picture myself sitting on the beach after I retire (in about 2 years) gazing at my new beautiful home, sipping a cool cocktail and thinking "WOW this is great!". Anyway; Another great job by everyone involved and Best of Luck to everyone who enters!

I lived in Florida for three years and I now live in a desert. I'm tired of rocks and sagebrush, so Florida here I come, hopefully.

Posted by Floyd – November 8, 2007 12:00 PM

Three bedrooms?! All on different floors? With the childrens bedroom on the ground floor next to the doors leading to the outside and the parents bedroom two floors away at the top of the house. This is one family unfriendly layout. I'd love to win a dream home but this floor plan doesn't give you enough space to have guests stay over or fit a large family. If I had a vacation home I would want to be able to share my good fortune with family and friends. The square footage seems devoted to entertaining spaces not sleeping spaces.

Posted by susan – November 8, 2007 2:02 PM

This looks like this will be a pretty home. I would never live in it. Very surprised to see the framework done in wood. This is hurricane country!

Posted by lisa – November 8, 2007 3:32 PM

I can not stand it any more, I have to say something about the repeated comments regarding the placement of the master and children's rooms. Really people do you want your children hearing every thing that goes on in your room? Hello!? Children do have ears. I personally love, love, love having our master suite away form our four children. We have privacy visual and audible.

Posted by CA Girl – November 8, 2007 3:54 PM

Hi the site is looking very beautiful and like a fairytale to most ordinary folks. I find a place like this to be a dream that would be over the top for our family as we surely could not afford something like this but God bless those who can and may they enjot each and every moment in the place . Many hours of hard work aand patience have been put into this construction and I hope that whomever wins has many hours of peace and happiness in this .

Are you all for real? I just want to know can someone really win a dream home?

Posted by Mearylinn – November 10, 2007 2:00 AM

WHERE TO PUT GUESTS? My four grandchildren and their parents are all campers. They have used their sleeping bags in church basements and on an Indian reservation while doing missionary building work. So I would just say, "Bring your sleeping bags and come on down". They could "camp" anywhere in this gorgeous Dream Home: the Great Room, the Entertainment Room, in a bedroom with their parents. They will have had so much fun on the beach, in and on and under the water (one father is a kiteboarder, so he would'nt even need a boat, just some wind) and exploring Islamorada, they will just crash and be ready for the next days adventure. So maybe you can see why I DREAM about winning this home. Good Luck to all you dreamers. And thank you, HGTV for this chance of a lifetime. Can't wait for New Years Eve, 'cause the next day, Dream Home 2008 - - - revealed in all its glory.

Hello.
I live in florida, and would would be an honor to win this house, since i love the keys so much. I really love the house, wait, i love all of the houses you make!! :) I think that the colors are a bit wild, but this is a tropical place, and the colors fit perfectly. Im sure people are thinking the colors are wack, but I think the colors match the wonderful scenary. I am definately looking forward to the green home much more than this home, I think that the HGTV team should start making every home a "green" home, why not make the world a better place? and... why not lower your bills, I know I'm all for that.

But what if you cant buy a home . You all have given away many dream homes give one to a family who really needs it , not someone who already has so much money that you all just make things even better for them .

I will sit this one out also. I will wait until the next dream home comes out west where the humidity isn't so high and the house has view of mountains. Water is only great to look at when there is a mountain range or a forest canopy reflecting in it. I really don't see what looking out on an endless view of water is so popular. I would rather look at rock formations and sagebrush in a desert.

How do I enter in the contest to win the Dream House?

Posted by Candace Taylor – November 16, 2007 5:55 PM

We think it's a great house with a wonderful view, in a great location. We'd love to win it.

To those that have a problem with the color of the shutters - have you ever been to the Keys? This is a very common color scheme for the Keys. Also, if you don't like the color and you win, it's just paint.

To the person that had a problem with the location of the 'kids bedroom' - these are just suggested uses for the rooms. Also, there is a 'guest bedroom' on the 2nd floor that could be used for the 'kids' instead. The separation of the master from the other rooms is becoming more and more popular since most people want their bedroom to also be a personal sanctuary. Get over it or don't enter.

I am falling in love with the house, and its not even finished. I like how they are making the house secure and weather resistant. They truly thought of everything. I cannot wait to enter, I'm so excited!

IT LOOKS A BIT SMALL AND AND OUT OF PLACE. WHATS UP WITH THE GREEN SHUTTERS? PERHAPS IT WILL TURN OUT NICE AT THE END.

As an Interior Design & Civil Engineering student I found the video interesting & can't wait to see more! The architecture & the design scheme are perfect for a Floridian location! The Florida Keys will be a great vacation spot for my family...I can't wait to win!!!!!

The house is BEAUTIFUL but is anyone concerned about the hurricanes?

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR PROGRAM FOR AWHILE NOW.. I THINK WHAT YOU DO IS AMAZING. I LEARNED ALOT FROM WATCHING THE SHOW, BUT I STILL COULDN'T BUILD ONE ON MY OWN. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN FLORIDA.. I LIKE MY LITTLE HOME TOWN IN PA.,BUT I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MOVE OUT OF THIS APARTMENT FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW.. I HAVE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, BUT THANK GOD, I'M DOING WELL.. I CAN STILL DRIVE, WALK, AND DO MOST OF THINGS THAT I HAVE ALWAYS DONE BEFORE.. I DON'T NEED A MILLION DOLLAR HOME TO MAKE ME HAPPY. I WOULD JUST BE HAPPY WITH A SMALL ONE STORY HOME, WHERE THE WASHER AND DRYER WAS ON THE SAME FLOOR.. IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH WEALTHY PEOPLE TAKE FOR GRANTED.. I WORKED HARD ALL MY LIFE,BUT I HAD TO GUIT WORKING WHEN I WAS DIANOSED IN 1994 WITH MS.. ANYWAY, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND IT'S A PLEASURE TO WATCH YOUR SHOW..

Everyone is commenting on how much they don't like the colors, but the main concern should be whether or not the house can with stand hurricane weather!

I think this is going to be a beautiful home and since I have no home at the present time, there are no complaints of what it might look like. If I were to win this, I would be happy and very thankful to have won. Keep up the good work HGTV and I hope someone very deserving wins this one.

I love the color combo! Obvious previous comments about not liking the blue and green have never been to this area where colors are hot and bright! Hey the competition is the constant sun and ocean, I would love a chance to live here, vacation here, or just visit!

Happy New Year everyone! I just wached the hgtv program showing off my soon to be home.I think this house has lot's of great things going for it however, where is the outdoor grill? Do people grill out in Flordia? I seen them shopping on the tv program and they looked like they were purchasing grilling tools but I can't see anywhere on the tour that features an outdoor grill area/outdoor kitchen. I was also wondering about all the noise as the other homes around it are being built. I plan to enter and hopefully win however I don't know that this is the best thought out home. If we are going to call it a DREAM HOME we do need some of the things Katie 1 talked about.

My husband and I have always dreamed of moving to Islamorada and living in a relaxing beach home. It has been the topic of many discussions throughout our nearly 20 years of marriage. As we watched the dream home video it was as though we could reach out and touch our dream. We loved the views, the colors and the convenient dock location. It would go far beyond my wildest dreams to be able to give this home to my husband for our 20th Anniversary that is coming up on March 26. He has worked so very hard to support our family, but he dreams of fly-fishing out in the clear blue waters and waking up to the sound of the ocean. I wish that I could give him his dream, because he has given so much of himself for our family. I know that our chances of winning are slim, but that's the nice thing about dreams, they give you hope! Even if we don't win the home, I know how lucky I am to have such an incredible husband and friend! That in itself is a dream come true!

I Love the house, I have Lupus and live in new england, the weather is very hard on me and I visited Florida for the first time and I couldn't believe how much better I felt and I was able to swim in the water because it was so warm. I have not been able to go to the beach with my children because I can not walk after being there for a half hour. Florida was the best place for this years house!!!!!!!!!

I would'nt change a thing on the hgtv 2008 dream home! And what a dream home it is! I would like to thank everyone and all in person whom has made our dream home possible. It will definately be a wonderful meeting ground for all of our family and friends. Especially for my husband and his eastcoast family. He's finally going to be able to see his biological father after 30yrs. of not knowing him. That will all change and we look forward to meeting up with the rest of our newly found family. We also look forward to all of the great activities that Islamorada, Fl. has to offer. Coming from Hawaii we're not afraid of the ocean water! Aloha to all!

I have been registering every day for the 2008 Dream Home. My husband and I have not been dealt a very good financial situation throughout our twelve years of marriage, but we would absolutely be in heaven to win this Dream Home. My children dream of having a house "with an upstairs" as they always say. The house is perfect! The location is perfect! I would not change a thing about this home or the location. What a wonderful home this will make some deserving family (hopefully, mine if God blesses us to be the lucky winners!) If not, a warm blessing to the family that is so fortunate to win this DREAM COME TRUE!
