Lots of you write me about headboard dilemmas — or lack thereof — which led me to a crazy idea: What if I could find out everything there is to know about making your own headboard, and post it here? It's a start. I've corralled all the DIY headboards and inspiration I could find from HGTV.com and across the web, and tossed in a few products for good measure. Don't make your bed suffer another headboard-less day!

Sheesh Caren... Have you slept in three days or so?! This is an incredible resource list. Thanks for the hard work- there are great ideas in abundance here!

My husband and I like to have our coffee and watch TV in the morning. I've tried the padded headboard and it is beautiful, but the fabric turns dark and gets thread-bare on my husband's side. Are there any fixes out there that won't force me to recover yearly?

Due to the placement of windows and a door in my bedroom my husband constructed a corner-type headboard for the king sized bed to fit the bed flush with space on top for decorative items. Do you have any ideas on how to spruce up this plywood eyesore? It is currently painted.

I have a very simple headboard. Our queen sized bed is angled in the corner and we use an old wooden ironing board as the headboard. I works great and wasn't that expensive!

I have a feng shui problem! Can someone help me, please? I have a huge mirrored head board and the dresser also has a big mirror. The dresser MUST face the bed. I've been ill since I moved into this house. Don't know if it's mold or the facing mirrors making me sick. I've draped a sheer curtain partly over the dresser mirror. What else can I do?

Ill in Texas.

Sara, your husband had a great idea! Now have him make a semi-circle from corner to corner on which you can staple a valance and put curtains on each side tied back with lovely tassels. You can also staple material to the painted background or put a simple wallpaper on it or even mirror it. Good luck. I am not a decorator but I think you can make it work and it would look lovely.

I'm making a headboard for my daughter but the problem I'm having is the wood glue is not sticking to the ply wood. What other strong glue can I use in place?

A couple of years ago, I saw a fireplace mantle headboard on the show "Weekend Warriors". I would really like to have one and have been looking ever since. Old ones (preferably from ceiling to floor, with a mirror) salvaged from demo houses can cost about $500. I need one that we can build or that cost about half that price.

I have a bay window behind my bed - it has 3 windows. What kind of bed frame can I have that will let me have access to my table that is between the bay & my bed? I do not know where else to place my king bed.
