Ah, the little niceties that make life a bit easier — we all enjoy them. These clever crafters have created tutorials to show us step by step how to create a few of the things that are simply handy to have around.
Check out these tutorials to learn how to make your own needful things:
Like many women, I am a certified lip balm addict — meaning I always have at least one of my many, many lip balms close at hand. In fact, just thinking about lip balm makes me want to put some on. So, needless to say, I was very excited at the thought of making my own lip balm — no more frantic trips to Target when my stockpile runs low. NotMartha.com has an excellent and really thorough tutorial for making your own tinted (or not, your choice) lip balm to give as gifts or stash away for your own dry lip emergency.
Truly, who couldn't use a tote bag? Especially one as cute and utilitarian as this one — it's even reversible! So, if one side gets a bit soiled, simply flip out the clean side, load it up (4 handy dandy pockets in this tote — genius!) and go.
This Pincushion Ring demonstrates the old adage that necessity is the mother of invention. No more fumbling around while sewing to find straight pins, they're always right at your fingertip.

And finally, Sew Mama Sew posted this excellent tutorial for creating your own Hot and Cold Packs. Filled with rice or buckwheat and your choice of essential oils, these stylish pads can be heated in the microwave or chilled in the freezer to provide relief of minor aches and pains.
Have you found any great crafty tutorials in your web-adventures? I'd love to hear about them!
