Spring has officially sprung and it couldn't have come a minute too soon for me. To celebrate the arrival of longer days and spring flowers I've gathered together a few tutorials:
Have you found some cool tutorials in your web-surfing escapades? Let me know, I'd love to share them with everyone!

The butterfly branches is a great idea and a wonderful project to do with young children. I'll try many small yellow ones for a Forsythia effect.

As I was browsing through the shows I came across Caroll Duval show which was to come at 7.30 am. I think the timing is not that good for me to watch the show as being a house wife I have to rush through the morning chores and I miss watching the show at this time. 8.30 am was a good tiem as I usually finish most of me chores and was able to watch the show and learn most of the craft things which were shown there. Now I am unable to watch it..Please would we? can we? start the Carol Duvall show at tis usual time? Please.

The Carol Duvall show was the best craft show I have seen. You have had others on but they do not compare to hers. I wish you would bring Carol back or at least find something compareable.

Uncommon Threads seems to be gone now, too. With crafting so popular now, why are the good craft shows disappearing????

I am so disappointed at HGTV's programming I shut it off for most of the day. How many other networks run the same serial all day. The only show I liked that run twice was Decorating Cents. I stopped my chores to relax and watch. What happened to scrap booking?? This seems to be the national hobby and haven't found any more. It was on at 3:00 a.m., 5:30 a.m. the final times. I am so tired of shows which are trying to sell houses. I now turn the tv off rather than watch another. Carol was the best craft show I have seen. Perhaps there is a need to know how to jump into a dumpster for ones next piece of furniture but the majority of us do not have the skills, transportation or agility for this.

I also miss Carol Duvall's show. Let's put it back and get rid of the shows that are so idiotic .also really miss Decorating Cents a lot.it usually has many many ideas that are a lot more practical than the lineup of shows now on. rarely watch HGTV during the day....would prefer more craft or gardening shows than what is now on. PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR VIEWERS.!!!!!!

I read the questions regarding Carol Duvall, but I haven't seen any answers. I'm very interested in those answers since I have the same questions.

I agree with comments made about your programmuing - too much emphasis on decorating, remodeling, carpentry with no shows on during the day for the crafter, knitter, sewer, who makes up the schedules? They don't seem to care about those who don't have a home or the money to redecorate, rebuild, programming seems to be aimed at the young and wealthier of the country. There are many of us older than 30 who still have a great interest in learning new crafts or catching up on what's new in a craft. I too enjoy Decorating Cents, the old Curb Appeal, Decorating on a Dime. Miss new Carol Duvall shows - wish she was still on. The DIY crafts that were shown on west coast at 7:00 am are also missing. Not everyone has digital cable with extra programming and so do not get DIY. However 7:00am is also too early! Someone with some empathy for crafters, the moderate incomer, the non-homeowner please come forward and get more diversified programming. Also why in the world do you and the sponsors have to build such fancy giveaway homes? Can't you come upo with an idea home that an average(?) family might be able to afford and keep? The economy is in shambles for the middle income families - why not help them instead of people with money to spare? JD

I used to watch all of the crafting shows on HGTV. Alas I can no longer find them any more. I am really tired of only seeing shows about what houses cost across the country, shows about why your house won't sell, how to fix the house up so that it would sell, etc. I am sure that I am not the only crafter who enjoy(ed) shows like Simply Quilts, Caroll Duvall, etc. Bring them back!!!!!! I don't get DIY so that is not an option. Give us our crafting shows again.

please more of simply quilt, outer spaces, decorating cents and please secret gardens
Posted by geanie harrison – April 23, 2008 11:34 PM
I agree, what happened to all the "good" craft shows. I used to watch HGTV every day. I seldom ever watch it now. The few craft shows that are on now are useless or boring. Carol Duvall was the best.
Posted by Genny – April 24, 2008 12:21 AM
I used to watch HGTV all the time but I can no longer find the craft showes that I so enjoyed or the practical decorating ideals that an average person can apply, so I seldom even turn your chanel on any more.
My home is not for sale and I am not going to buy another. I have no intention of spending thousands of dollars redecorating.
I am retired and plan to do crafts, gardening, and traveling. I don't need or want to look at homes that are so costly that an average person can't possibly afford. The average person is the ones that made your chanel so popluar in the first place.

I am so angry that simply quilts and carol duval shows have been moved around or do not exist on some days. How about some new craft and quilt shows. I am filled up with redecorating and house shows that are repeating over and over. Get some new programing. I can't get D
iy from my server so that is not an alternative for me.

I too am turning HGTV off, use to have it on the majority of the day. I am tired of watching people find a new home, spend thousand on renovations (inside and outside)one show is just like the other. I miss Paul James and Carol Duval, they are now in the early morning, if you can find them. A lot of Home, but very little Garden. Very few ideas for those of us who like to craft and/or have limited incomes. Not all of us need or want to hire a contractor to perform renovations in or around our homes or care about the family looking for a home in Oregon, California, etc. HGTV needs a "reality check". We need programming that addresses fundamental living
Posted by sandy stallard – April 24, 2008 6:45 AM
The Carol Duvall Show is on DIY Network @12:30pm Eastern every day along with a few other craft shows that aren't anywhere near as good. Most of the craft shows have been moved to DIY because you have to pay an extra fee to the cable company to get it.
I agree with you that most of the programming on HGTV.com right now is not worth watching.
Posted by Char – April 24, 2008 9:09 AM
Please bring back Carol DuVall with original episodes.
Posted by Vivian – April 24, 2008 10:06 AM
I also am not able to watch the quilt show and Carol Duval show now that the programing has changed. Please return these two programs to the 8:00 and 8:30 am time slots. I really miss these programs.

I used to watch Carol, Uncommon Threads, Knitty Gritty and a couple more craft shows on my work off day. I can''t stand goody two shoes Martha Stewart, so I never watch her shows!! So, all my viewing time which adds ratings to HGTV/DIY is gone. I don't watch the home improvement shows at all. I've got my own home improvements to take care of!! If you bring back the craft shows, I'll be back.
Posted by Pattie – April 24, 2008 11:15 AM
I agree. Where are Carol (Duvall) and Sandy (Genovese)? I'm tired of all the home shows and fancy makeovers, that the normal individual cannot afford. Thanks for listening.
Posted by Katie – April 24, 2008 11:33 AM
I am missing the early morning craft type shows like Carol Duvall, the quilting show, and the scrap booking show that was on for only a short time. I get so tired of the repeats which show over and over. Another show that I like to watch is Decorating Cents. Their budget is more realistic and show what can be done with just rearranging.3

I remember the "good old days" when HGTV first came on the air with quilting, sewing, and craft programs as well as several gardening programs. I would have a hard time tearing myself away from the TV. Since I have no interest in selling my house or buying a home in another state or country, I seldom turn HGTV on during the day. There is a great need for crafting, sewing, quilting, etc, shows at a decent hour. Please!!!

Kudo's to Gloria Joy. I feel the same way.I couldn't have said it better.

Please bring back more craft shows. Carol Duvall was my favorite. You have overloaded us with new home buyers, what is my house worth and and high end makeovers. Enough is enough. Decorating Cents was a good one. I got several ideas off of them. We all don't have thousands of dollars we wish to use redecorating out house. Please listen to your viewers and give us what we loved about you so we can come back to your channel.

Now that I've retired, I was looking forward to watching Simply Quilts every weekday - then it all changed! 8:30 went to 7:30; what next - set my alarm for 6am? Please add me to the list of viewers who want more crafts and less home show repests. Thanks.

I agree with most of the comments. What happened to Carol Duval show? I am a crafter and enjoyed all the crafts brought to the show. Please bring her back or a clone of her. I also enjoyed watching Mission Organization which I don't see being given anymore. I enjoy the decorating shows but too much is too much. The shows do not show how to make a lot of the projects. Please bring back programs that interest the viewers.

I love Hgtv Shows Design on a Dime and What's My House Worth, I love the helpful hints to raise the value on your home. I watch these shows daily. With the economy the way it is most people are trying to make the most out of what they have until the real estate market turns around.Keep up the good work. PS I only wish you would do more on the east coast!

i have to agree with all the other people who are writing in about the new programming. I never would turn your channel off and now I rarely turn it on. I too am tired of your real estate shows. Why are you not listening?

I work during the week but used to record Carol Duvall as she's THE QUEEN. When her show moved to DIY we didn't have that channel, even now I seem to miss the time or it just doesn't come on. What happened to her being on early Saturday morning? I too seldom watch HDTV and I have a home, just too many remodeling shows!
Posted by Sondra – April 28, 2008 4:50 PM
Your shows need to be more down-to-earth! I simply can't identify with a program that shows a backyard makeover where a contractor pulls up with his crew of 12--and a budget of $75,000! I want to see what I can do MYSELF! It peeves me that people then take credit for their beautiful yard! If I had a crew of 12 and thousands of dollars, my yard would be wonderful too, but I cetainly couldn't take credit for anything but writing the check.

I am so glad to see so many 'sister's' out there who feel the same way I do. I have written you before. We miss the real CRAFT shows. Yes, I used to stop chores to watch. I used to schedule my lunch time so I could watch. I enjoy alot of the programs about decorating with no money, or fixing up the yard, or deck, etc. Can you hear us HGTV??
Posted by Deborah Bradford – April 28, 2008 9:33 PM
I know here we get a lot of the old reruns of the carol duvall show in the morning. It would be nice to have more crafty things during the day time and the home shows in the late afternoon and evening. I actually love the home shows, but would love some variety.
Posted by Jess – April 30, 2008 5:03 AM
Boy, do I agree with what everyone is saying. I really miss seeing the Carol Duvall show and wish there were more crafting shows on. What I'm wondering is why no one from HGTV is responding to any of these comments. Think they would be more interested in what their audience wants. Oh well, guess its like every other network on tv now.
Posted by Kathy H – April 30, 2008 10:16 AM
HGTV are you listening????? I never watch anymore either as all the shows are basically the same. I am creative and need ideas! Art would be great, as in painting on canvas. Help!

Where are the gardening shows? HGTV is home and GARDEN isn't it? I am tired of the same shows on houses,Sell this house, My house is worth what, Flip this house blah blah blah there are too many of them.
Posted by Kim – May 12, 2008 6:28 PM
I don't watch HGTV anymore because I feel the same way about the lack of good craft and garden shows.
I am getting what I need on the website.

I KNOW THE HOUSING MARKET IS IN A CRUNCH BUT THE WHOLE COUNTRY DOESN'T HAVE THEIR HOUSE ON THE MARKET. PLEASE BRING BACK CRAFTING, TRASH TO TREASURE IDEAS, SEWING AND DEFINATELY GARDENING. AND WHERE IS THAT FUN GARDENING GUY? I DO MISS ALL THOSE "DOWN TO EARTH" HOST. PLEASE REFRESH THE SHOWS!!!!!

Heeellloooo !!!! is anyone there ! Bring back the ole great crafting shows. Enough said.
Posted by Mary Lou – May 14, 2008 10:14 PM
I'm not watching anything about homes, buy, sell or what-have-you because the bulk of them took the fun out for me.
I do like Carol Duvall and really miss Tipical Mary, whose commedy was a good way to start my day.

I also am a crafter and certainly do not watch HGTV anymore, since all the Crafting shows are gone. and what about Trash to Treasurers that was on a few years ago, People are interested in the recycling. I always watched Carol duvall , decorating Cents, please return the crafting shows. Thanks...

HGTV was agood channel to watch, but now it has changed so much. I can't find my favorites such as Carol Duvall, Decorating Cents,Design on a Dime, and more of the shows with affordable ideas for us regular people. It's okay to see one or two shows with $100,000 budgets. But most of us don't have that much money to spend on remodel jobs for our house or yard. So, please keep in mind what normal viewers are looking for.
Thanks, Cindy

Please bring back crafts and gardening shows. I'm tired of design shows, that I'd never be able to afford anyways
Posted by kris – May 16, 2008 3:14 PM
I love watching Decorating Cents, Mission Organization,Design On A Dime and Clean Sweep. I have gotten alot of cool ideas on what I can do with what I have instead of filling a landfill with unused items. I love crafts and gardening as well as decorating. I struggle with a place that is to small for the number of people in my household and like the ideas offered to deal with such problems with a small amount of money.
Posted by Jeannene – May 17, 2008 10:24 PM
Please, bring reality back. Home, not Palace. most of us that have the time to watch in the days earlier hours are retired-smaller income. I too miss Carol Duval, but realise she too, deserves retirement. Somewhere there has to be a person, that has her down to earth outlook on Crafting, Paper Arts and the like. HGTV is a respite from the network news and terrible war reports.
Posted by Nola Taylor – May 18, 2008 11:38 AM
I also miss the craft shows -- especially Carol Duval. I would also like to see Decorating Cents, Get Color, (new ones) back on rather than some of the shows about the cost of homes, etc. I also like Design on a Dime (especially the ones with Kristan Cunningham and her team and Lee Snijders with Summer and Charles.) Don't like the new teams as well. Like everyone else says listen to your viewers and "if it ain't broke - don't fix it!"
Posted by Jackie – May 18, 2008 7:27 PM
I miss the old HGTV. I rarely watch this channel any longer. This Fall I turned it on to get some Fall/Halloween decorating ideas and there was nothing. Where are the shows for us normal people in America? I used to be able to count on HGTV to provide me with some reasonably inexpensive decorating and craft ideas but they seem to think everyone is into modern furnishings with lots of money. Please bring back the shows that made HGTV so wonderful in the beginning!
Posted by Susan Nelson – June 5, 2008 4:12 PM
I feel sorry for HGTV that seems to only want money from it's sponsers instead of viewers. My Tv use to run all day long with their craft shows and gardening shows. I really miss Carol Duvall, Simply Quilts, Paul James and the other great shows that ran for the average person. Too bad you decided to change your viewing to the rich who only hire someone else to do the work for them and probably never heard of your station. I hope someone out there reads these and starts up a new station with crafts and gardening for the average persons instead of the realitiy shows their now pushing. Beth Farrell
Posted by Beth Farrell – June 13, 2008 11:26 AM
I really miss the quilt shows that hardly are on any longer. Please bring them back. There's nothing better to watch on HGTV. And why have Simply Quilts on too early in the morning? I think it should be later in the day.
Posted by Rachael Gehringer – June 19, 2008 1:07 PM
I, like the others, am so disappointed on what HGTV has become. I went from watching it everyday to find my favorite craft shows and realistic redecorating & gardening shows. I found Caroll Duvall, Crafters Coast to Coast, B. Original & others on DIY network. It's not the same but at least I can get a crafting fix. You would think that a "hobby" ie crafts that makes countless millions of dollars in this industry would warrant a channel just for crafting. Perhaps a deluge of mail to TLC would encourage them to start additional channels. Who knows what could happen.
